a friendly reminder 🙃
Some of you are new here, and I won't fault you for that. Some of you are learning or re-learning stuff here. That's okay.
but please for the love of fucking everything holy
Tumblr media
PLEASE DONT BE THIS PERSON
Please don't spam like, thinking you're doing something. It does absolutely nothing to help us authors out.
It's also fucking annoying. Even more so when you look like a goddamned bot 😀
Spam liking without reblogging, looking like a bot, and/or having no age in your bio, IS AN AUTOMATIC BLOCK.
and this isn't just from me. You will be blocked by so many other authors as well.
please, if you aren't familiar with Tumblr or fandom etiquette, there are SO MANY posts about it. If you need any help navigating, I promise my DMs and ask box are ALWAYS open for questions. I've been there. I made mistakes too. But I learned. Y'all need to, too.

“Our roots are in space and eternity. Not in the earth and time. Our minds, the subtler parts of our own imaginations, break through the boundaries of physical things. We are in this physical world, but definitely not of it.”

S.G. Goodman Is Thankful in Williamsburg
Tumblr media
S.G. Goodman – Music Hall of Williamsburg – November 3, 2023
“I’m S.G. Goodman, thank you so much for being here!” I think she must have said that after every single song she played at Music Hall of Williamsburg on Friday night, a mix of dry wit and genuine appreciation. The show was a delightfully incongruous confluence of her off-key banter, delicate poetic lyricism, and cosmic vibrations of guitar and pedal steel. Things began with those guitars in an ambient swell, dramatically building to feedback that dissolved into the opening song, “The Way I Talk,” off Goodman’s debut album, Old Time Feeling.

As the set progressed, her drawling voice took center stage. The pairing of “If You Were Someone I Loved” and “You Were Someone I Loved” crackled with slide guitar until melting into Goodman howling into the room, the audience silent in admiration. The title track on last year’s Teeth Marks was another highlight, emotional lyrics meeting deft instrumentation. In between songs, she waxed philosophic at length on naming her tour after “Patron Saint of Dollar Stores” and other topics.

Her admiration for outlaw country shone through on the cover of Waylon Jennings’ “Waymore’s Blues,” which included a friendly “competition” with back-and-forth solos from pedal steel player Luke Schneider and guitarist Mark Sloan. After an appropriately solo take on “Solitaire,” Goodman closed the set with the love song “Space and Time,” a cushion of bass and drums and a glittering of guitars to finish things. The show felt complete, but no one in the room was complaining when they all returned for an encore, the rollicking “Work Until I Die,” Goodman in full West Kentucky growl until leaving her band onstage in an extended rock-out, her final “Thank you so much for being here.” —A. Sleeping Leopard - 8811b+ by Jen Hall Via Flickr: To finish off my "sleepy" series - It may not always be easy to find a big cat, but if you do chances are good that you will find them sleeping! Leopards don't sleep as much as those sleepy-head lions, but since they are mostly nocturnal they do like a good nap. Masai Mara, Kenya

PLEASE WRITE OUT THE TRIGGERS
what are you on wattpad?
"What are you on Wattpad?"
No but with that immature tone and cowardly using anon to send this sure tells me everything I need to know. This was ungodly rude, and I hope you do better in using anon to send shitty asks to writers like me.
I would've been glad to change them and everything if you asked nicely or reached out personally, but that tiny little gray circle with sunglasses sure made ya bold, huh?
Real explanation though: I use numbers/replacement letters to avoid getting my works flagged by the broken and misused censors here on Tumblr. I know NUMEROUS other authors who do the same as me or hyphenate at the words or use other ways because the system is broke for writers like me. I've published other works like this and have never had an issue.
Maybe you should log off and go read a book or smth.
If you REALLY want a solution from me, I suggest learning to use critical thinking skills. Then next time, you'll read something similar and think to yourself "gee, this makes me upset, I should click out of it and block this author or just scroll away since this piece obviously will not be for me."

How did your reading in September turn out?
I read more than I thought I would this month. Though I don't know why I'm surprised by that when five of the six books I read were audiobooks. Five of the six books were also books I own, so I'm slowly whittling down my physical tbr.
Books read:
• Business or Pleasure by Rachel Lynn Solomon
• Book Lovers by Emily Henry
• Well Traveled by Jen DeLuca
• A Lady for a Duke by Alexis Hall
• So This is Ever After by F.T. Lukens
• Down Comes the Night by Allison Saft
My favorite this month was definitely Down Comes the Night! It's Crimson Peak (sans incest) with a magical twist. The paperback edition comes out on Tuesday, and there's still time to get in on the pre-order campaign.
