What the Nativity Event Teaches Us (Luke 2:1-20)
By Donald Whitchard
Genesis 3:15, Numbers 24:17, Isaiah 7:14, Isaiah 9:6-7, Matthew 1:18-25, Luke 2:1-20
Summary: The birth of the Lord Jesus Christ is the centerpiece of civilization. It is also an illustration about the promises of God, our obedience of God, the accessibility to God, and the tragedy of rejecting God.
“AND it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar…

#8 Supporting Evidence that Jesus was Born at Passover
There are two lines of evidence to support the view that Jesus was born just before Passover in the month of April:
“There was no room at the inn.”
Jerusalem and Bethlehem nearby would have been very busy between the 13th and 27th April 5 BC as all adult Jewish males were required to celebrate Passover at the Temple.
Jewish families went to Jerusalem before the festival to prepare for it. …

Merry Christmas, God Bless Us, Everyone
Good morning, Merry Christmas to one and all. The day long anticipated has arrived. While I realize there are many different things celebrated and recognized at this time, such as Hanukkah, this my writing is about Christmas and the birth of a babe, a Savior. In the midst of the activities of the day, may we not forget this reason. May the festivities of the day not overshadow the true…

Luke 2:8-20 (King James Version)
8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.
17 And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.
18 And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.
20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

The First Christmas
Bethlehem (house of lamb; Arabic, house of bread; Hebrew)
All of my life the story of Christmas has been presented as an account of a pleasant trip from Nazareth to Bethlehem, a nice neat stable, on a “Silent Night, Holy Night.” This year, however, I am reminded of the reality of the times and that has increased my love for the Savior and God.
Luke 2:1-5Today, a census means a census taker…

A Special Star
Matthew 2:1-2 – Authorised Version Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
Ever wondered how the wise men were able to follow a star during Jesus’ time, as the position of stars are…

Have been thinking about the virgin birth since yesterday, and to just reiterate: This is what I'm willing to stake my salvation on.
That Mary conceived Jesus without the aid of a man.
That Jesus, conceived with the help of the Holy Spirit, is Mary's true biological Son, His sacred Humanity taken from and formed by her own humanity.
That Mary was never in danger of dying during childbirth.
That Jesus is Mary's only biological offspring.
This is what I feel certain of. I am unsure of anything else, but submit to the judgement of the Church.
