Le chauffard qui a écrasé le gosse n’est pas celui qu’on croyait. Du camion funèbre émerge Mary-Ann (Evelyne Brochu), une jeune femme qui s’épuise à faire bouillir la marmite. Elle a deux enfants, un mari absent (prison? cimetière?) après des flambées de violence domestiques. Le road movie se conclut sur une cérémonie funèbre, dans laquelle joue une vraie chamane. Sobre et très émouvante, rappelant le rituel funéraire qui conclut «Jindabyne, Australie», cette scène de rédemption et de réconciliation interethnique approche avec respect les mystères impénétrables de l’âme indienne – et de la mort.
