König's touch is gentle, but the rough feeling of his glove against the raised skin of his thigh make him jolt all the same. The larger man's hand jerks back and he flashes Percy an apologetic look. Percy shrugs and offers a sheepish look in return.

"Sorry- it's a bit sensitive. Nerves in that leg have never really recovered."

König nods in understanding. Come to think of it, Percy generally had had a bad reaction whenever his left leg was involved in some way. And despite the prosthetic, the man could kick like a mule. Johnny had found that out first hand. He made the mistake of sneaking up on Percy from the side. The munition pouch at his hip had just barely grazed Percy's thigh, but that seemed to be enough to trigger a response. He kicked the sergeant so hard, his prosthetic actually ended up coming off. Percy was mortified, but everyone else seemed more than amused by it.

Johnny had it coming.

"I, ehm... I got that scar the same way I lost my leg. IED explosion while moving through a narrow rock pass. Device was huge. A large piece of shrapnel lodged into halfway through my calf before we were buried by a landslide of rocks. I passed out after hitting my head. If it wasn't for that and the fact that the rock ended up crushing that same part of my leg and closed off the artery completely, I likely would have gone into shock and bled out." It's a simple explanation. Curt and to the point. But it's still told with a lingering bittersweet smile.

"Either way, there was no salvaging my leg. And this scar just came from one of the smaller, slightly less lethal pieces that hit me."

Percy's own fingers find the scar and run over it, regarding it with a mix of exhaustion and bitterness. Despite how well he handled being an amputee, there was an undeniable sense of bitterness that came with it. He'd mentioned it before. Prior to losing his leg, he was a real athlete. A runner, a swimmer, a cyclist. After the recovery and the grueling handful of weeks in physical therapy, he never could find it in himself to go back to the level of activeness he was at before. He felt... ashamed. Self-conscious. Spiteful towards himself. And while nowadays he was doing a lot better, some of that resentment still lingered.

And all König could do was lay his hand over Percy's and offer the comfort of his presence.
