Brett used to stay in the Midland Hotel while filming SH for Granada. Here is a statement from a waiter who served him.
“ I used to be a waiter in the French Restaurant
at the Midland Hotel in Manchester where Jeremy
stayed for a few weeks while filming for Sherlock
Holmes. He would mostly dine alone (although
one night he dined with Tom Baker and another
night with Robert Hardy) and would chat to all the
waiters instead, me and the wine waiter mostly.
He would order lightly cooked asparagus stalks
with skinless chicken every night, he mentioned
Granada TV wanting him to lose a few pounds.
He actually told me it took him a long time to get
used to people calling him Sherlock and not Jeremy
and that he saw it as people not recognising the
other work he'd done. He got quite upset over it,
before composing himself and telling me he was
going to spend the next night with Julie Goodyear
who always cheers him up.”

Charles Goodyear (December 29, 1800 – July 1, 1860)
An American chemist and engineer, Charles Goodyear is most well known for his development of vulcanized rubber. Natural rubber is a soft material, and vulcanization stabilized and hardened the material, allowing it to be adopted for a variety of applications. However, although he patented the process in the 1840s, Goodyear never truly profited from his work. He died in debt in 1860, and it was only after his death that his family began to receive significant royalties. Notably, the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company has no association with Charles Goodyear or his family beyond being named in his honor when it was founded nearly 40 years later.

Fun/joy
i procured tickets to go see Peter Gabriel (nosebleed stadium seats) in July and lawn seats at Blossom to see Duran Duran.
That’s a good start to letting myself have fun and feel joy, yeah?
Yeah.
I’ve never seen either of these acts, and Peter Gabriel has been such an important soundtrack to my life for so long. I return to Us and So and The Last Temptation of Christ and Growing Up Live during growth phases. He’s truly a tour guide of the deep. I listened to US the other day for the first time since I moved out - holy fuck it’s 9 years in December. That album hits very different this side of two divorces, let me tell you.
I’m also toying with driving the two hours to Pittsburgh by myself to see Beyoncé’s Renaissance tour. A $250 nosebleed ticket might be crazy, but this album has been my anchor for the last year. Now that I think about it, it’s been my entry point to joy and fun inside my body and I don’t know why I didn’t think of that during therapy. I’mma listen to it again on the dog walk this morning. This album is pure club. I am transported to The Filmore East gay parties in the early 90s where I danced for two days and nights without ceasing in an ocean of beautiful men who were the very definition of joy expressed with abandon and trust in the middle of a raging war in NYC.
Maybe this is how I protest the grind that is life on Earth in America. Even if it is furthering capitalism. At least it’s for the sake of art and joy.
Oh, shit... and two days before Peter Gabriel, I could see Nick Cave at Playhouse Square. And Loreena Mckennitt at the Goodyear in Akron in October. And Atmosphere in Pittsburgh.
Fuck it, I’m not replacing the sewer line to my house until next year - or maybe I’m selling before I even need to do it.
This bitch is getting her joy.

Sunday July 2nd | Airkewld HQ | 1958 Classic VW Beetle Chassis Air Ride Mock Up
Working on a 1958 Ragtop Beetle Chassis from an amazing friend, DJTonyG. The PRO’s are installing a Complete PRObuilt Air Ride Kit - 1050 on it which comes with a Stage 2 PRObuilt Beam that is narrowed 4” and has our PRObuilt steering system on it. They installed a set of GEN 2 BAD Series Brakes in Wide 5 to get some rollers on the repanned chassis.
A PRObuilt Performance Transaxle with short axles was used in the back, also with GEN 2 disc brakes and solid mounts. Sometime in this chassis life, someone updated the nose cone mount, which caught me off guard. Takes a totally different nose cone and trans mount. But we got it figured out.
The Classic VW rear swing axle rear air ride kit is be utilized as we bolted the shorter shocks on with our stainless shocks bolts. They used stainless hardware to affix the trans to the spring plates for the exact fit we were after.
Tomorrow, we start welding.

WEC allows one-off return for tyre warmers at Le Mans 24 Hours after crashes | WEC
The ban on the use of tyre warmers in the World Endurance Championship will be relaxed for the series’ blue riband race at Le Mans next month. The FIA and l’Automobile Club de l’Ouest has permitted the change as a one-off measure which will apply across all classes. It follows a series of crashes in the opening rounds of the championship. Ferrari’s Antonio Fuoco crashed heavily during the last round of the championship at Spa-Francorchamps. Render van der Zande also suffered a race-ending shunt in his Cadillac. The FIA and ACO said they had “conducted an in-depth evaluation of tyre usage data together with the FIA World Endurance Championship’s exclusive tyre suppliers Michelin and Goodyear” in reaching the decision. “The exemption is limited to the 24 Hours of Le Mans only, ensuring that drivers of all experience levels will be able to compete in the safest possible environment regardless of track conditions and temperatures, while tyre manufacturers, teams and drivers will gain valuable time to develop better understanding of how to bring cold tyres up to temperature ahead of the remainder of the 2023 FIA WEC season,” the governing bodies stated. The FIA is moving to outlaw tyre warmers in order to reduce energy consumption. It aims to do the same in Formula 1, where official tyre supplier Pirelli is developing new compounds designed to be used without tyre blankets. F1 teams will vote in July on whether to go ahead with the ban on tyre warmers in 2024. WEC’s tyre heaters “will be powered by 100% sustainable fuel” at Le Mans, the FIA added. “Moving away from tyre warming was originally introduced as part of a long-term WEC tyre road map, developed in consultation with tyre manufacturers, and has been in the works over the last two years.” The ban on tyre warmers will come back into force at the fifth round of the World Endurance Championship, the Six Hours of Monza, in July. Tread Life and Durability
One of the major highlights of the Goodyear Assurance All Season Tires is their longevity. Built to withstand continuous use across different terrains and weather conditions, these tires promise an extended tread life, which means fewer replacements and more savings in the long run.

In dry conditions, the Assurance All Season Tires shine with responsive handling and stability. This is due to their symmetric tread design, which helps maintain a balanced and even wear, ensuring a steady driving experience.
Snow and Ice Performance
While not a substitute for a dedicated winter tire, the Goodyear Assurance All Season Tires perform admirably in light to moderate snow conditions. Their multiple biting edges grip the road in colder temperatures, offering confidence on chilly drives.
Ride Comfort and Noise Level
Nobody likes a noisy tire, and Goodyear understands this. These tires are engineered to reduce road noise, making your journey quieter and more enjoyable. Additionally, the optimized tread pattern ensures a smooth ride, cushioning the bumps along the way.

Can you spill the tea on Denis’ indiscretions that you mentioned? I’m trying to get into the Maggie lore more 👀
Hi :) Haha I don’t have much tea, the allegations I mentioned are from two sources recounting two separate events. The first is a tweet by a woman about him flirting with her friend at a Christmas party, and the second is an extract from Julie Goodyear’s book which recounts him drunkenly groping her. I’ll insert them below.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The cheating story is a double hearsay from a 2013 Daily Mail article where Robin Harris (the author who co-wrote several of her books) basically revealed that Margaret suspected Denis of having an affair back in 2002. There’s no ‘proof’ of whether this was true or not, but paired with the pattern of behaviour mentioned above, it doesn’t sound too far-fetched. My issue is that she confided in him and he took it to the media literally 48 hours after her death to present it as some delusion.
