Where are the teenage/YA cartoons?
Tumblr media
Recently, two cartoons that were slated to be on Cartoon Network, Unicorn: Warriors Eternal and My Adventures With Superman, are now going to be on Adult Swim.
To me, this move makes no sense. These shows could have diversified Cartoon Network’s very barebones lineup, but they were shoved to Adult Swim. I sorta understand Unicorn, as it is dark (but definitely not on the same level as Primal, one of Genndy Tartakovsky’s other shows), but My Adventures with Superman? That show seems pretty innocuous. It has a bright color palette and doesn’t seem similar to Harley Quinn or the later seasons of Young Justice.
This reminds me of the desperate need there is for teen/YA-oriented western cartoons. In western animation, there are three primary audiences:
Preschoolers; anything rated TV-Y, shown on PBS Kids, Nick Jr, Disney Junior, or Cartoonito. Example: Doc McStuffins.
Big kids/elementary school crowd; anything rated TV-Y7, can be seen on Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, and Disney Channel. Example: The Amazing World of Gumball.
Adult; anything rated TV-14 or TV-MA, seen on Adult Swim, Comedy Central, or the prime time Fox lineup. Example: Rick and Morty.
That’s it. Despite what the rating of TV-14 might lead you to believe, the stuff on Animation Domination or Adult Swim isn’t targeted to teenagers, obviously.
This leaves teenagers in a weird spot when it comes to watching cartoons (western ones, that is. They definitely watch anime). They tend to stick with big kids and/or adult cartoons, like Avatar. With all of the heavy subject matter it and Korra tackle, they definitely feel more like teenage cartoons, especially since they were inspired by anime.
I bring up anime because they have clearly defined demographics, including teenagers. They have manga/anime for teenage boys, shonen (Naruto, One Piece, Dragon Ball Z), and teenage girls, shojo (Fruits Basket, Kamisama Kiss, Yona of the Dawn).
Shojo anime (except Sailor Moon) pretty much never air on American TV, but when shonen anime are exported here, they end up on Adult Swim’s Toonami block. For example, Demon Slayer aired on Toonami (they had to stop airing it because it got too expensive), and in America, the Mugen Train movie was rated R. This despite Demon Slayer being aimed at teenagers, and also being enjoyed by small children in Japan. They even had a Japanese Happy Meal promotion that ran alongside Pretty Cure, a show that actually is aimed at small children (kodomomuke).
With America’s teenagers flocking to anime, I believe that the American animation industry should keep up with the times and try to capitalize on the teenage demographic instead of shoehorning shows to be for elementary schoolers or adults.
Here are some western cartoons I believe could be classified as YA/teenage shows:
Avatar and Korra, as mentioned above.
Most cartoons aired on MTV, such as Daria, Beavis and Butthead, and Clone High. It helps that MTV itself was aimed at teenagers. Aeon Flux is an exception however, as it is clearly for adults. They’re often shoehorned into the category of “adult animation,” but their subject matter is more appealing to teens.
6teen. It’s right there in the title! Canada knows what’s up.
Total Drama, another Canadian cartoon. I know that they made the younger-skewing DramaRama spin-off because teenagers weren’t watching cartoons anymore, but now that the main show is coming back, it will definitely be aimed at teenagers again.
Sym Bionic Titan, yet another Tartakovsky show, pretty much is a teen/YA show, minus swearing. If I remember correctly, it aired on Toonami for a little while.
Regular Show. The most obvious example of a YA cartoon disguised as a kids cartoon.
Infinity Train. Never forget that it was cancelled because “no child entry point.”
As Told By Ginger is essentially a teen drama in animated form.
Invader Zim - Nickelodeon asked Johnson Vasquez to make a show directed towards older audiences, got exactly what they wanted (most of the viewership was from teens and adults, especially of the shops-at-Hot Topic variety) and cancelled it anyway.
Arcane is technically an adult series, but League of Legends is rated T by the ESRB, so I’m putting it in the teen/YA category (there IS a distinction between ‘young adult’ and ‘adult’)
I highly doubt that the likes of Nickelodeon will add a teenage animation block to their lineup (and TeenNick is nothing but iCarly reruns), but I hope that streaming services will start capitalizing on the YA demographic for western animation. Bee and Puppycat is a good start, featuring relatable young adult situations while technically being watchable for all ages. At least Unicorn is gonna air on ACME Night, which isn’t too late in the evening (currently, the block starts at 5:30 EST). And with Clone High and the aforementioned Total Drama making a comeback, I’m holding out hope for more YA animation.

It's been awhile since I did a tier list but I've been into shojo anime and manga recently so I'm gonna rank my top five.
#5: Ouran High School Host Club
Tumblr media
Haruhi Fujioka is recruited to join the host club after she breaks a vase!
Ouran is probably one of the best known shojo animes there is. It's funny, light hearted, adorable, and probably is one of the first reverse harem anime to gain a large fan base. And for being made in the early 2000's, the animation still holds up today.
However, the characters do not. There are a lot of things about this show that just did not age well. While I recommend this series I also recommend taking it with a grain of salt. This was made when certain things were socially acceptable that simply are not today.
That is the only reason I would have it at number 5. Other wise, the cast is great. The plot is hilarious. The pacing is well done. Overall, it's a hilarious and feel good show for when you simply don't want to think about what you're watching.
#4 Kamisama Hajimenmashita
Tumblr media
After being kicked out of her apartment due to her father's gambling habits, Nanami Momozono must find her place in this world. But becoming an Earth God? How the hell is she supposed to do that?!
This is the first shojo I watched knowing that it was a shojo. I immediately fell in love with the characters and their dynamics. There's complicated back stories as well for those to like to drive a bit more into characters.
Sadly, the anime was rushed to a finish and a lot of the manga was never adapted. While the anime is still great, the ending just feels wrong without having the full story. The manga is completed and I highly recommend reading it. Yet because of the cancelation, I have to put it at number 4.
#3: Yona Of The Dawn
Tumblr media
On her 16th birthday, the sole princess of Kouka, Yona, goes to ask her father to reconsider her marriage proposal to the love of her life. Her love had other plans with her father that night.
This is arguably one of the best shojos out there. With an amazing ploy and some of the best characters ever written, your heart is sure to be captured by this.
There is only one season of this however and it sadly looks like there won't be more any time soon.
The reason for this getting third place isn't because of the anime but actually because I just like the other two more. I love the fantasy setting, but I tend to like it more in shounen than shojo.
#2: My Love Story With Yamada-Kun at level 999
Tumblr media
After being cheated on and dumped by her boyfriend over a girl he met in a game, Akane Kinoshita sets out to get revenge! By going to an irl game event and make him realize what he's missing out on! If only her luck with shoes was better.
This is a very new shojo with the first season just wrapping up a couple weeks ago. However, the manga has been going strong since 2019 and I have loved every minute of it. Thus has some of the best characters I have ever seen and it just continues to get better. It's also the type of shojo where we get to see the couple progress their relationship as a couple which is amazing.
I will say there are some... spicier bits in the manga so beware of that if it's not your thing. (Nothing explicit is shown)
However we get to see progression from te side characters as well which is also amazing. I love every moment of this and it had me squealing and kicking my feet like a little girl.
#1: Horimiya
Tumblr media
The queen bee and the loner realize that maybe they can be their true selves around each other.
This is my all time favorite. I read the manga, watch the og anime, watched the remake, and the missing pieces. I love this story so much.
It portrays realistic relationships and shows that both of the main characters have faults that they work through in their relationship. Not just that, but the side characters get a lot of development as well that makes you rooting for them.
This whole story is so wholesome and it's the perfect thing to unwind to.

sorry if this was asked before. how did you learn to draw? also I'm so in love with your style like I've never seen anything like it. It's so beautiful. There's something about the eyes. they're always so full of emotion. and the way you make hair flow, and how the mouths move feels just so real. You can capture emotion insanely well. every line and scribble adds to it. It inspires me. I hope I can one day also convey this well
hello! thx for the ask
i’m self taught so i sorta just figured things out lol. i don’t have a lot of technical abilities since i rely on observation and practice so i mainly draw for fun
around 12 i was obsessed with the idea of developing an art style and would go thru youtube and find one i like, imitate it, and try to draw everything with it. word of advice: art styles are fluid and change as you get better at art. rn i don’t feel like i have a style, but you guys seem to find my art distinctive which is great.
this is art from when i was maybe 11 (i’d just gotten into anime and fell in love with tomoe from kamisama kiss so all my characters where white foxes haha) vs 16 (id stopped playing genshin at around 15 but i saw itto and fell in love again)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
emotions are tricky and i don’t know what i’m doing half the time, so i just adjust until it looks right. best advice is to mess around and don’t be scared to make things ugly. here is my favourite bird for reference:
Tumblr media
other artists are good studies and milestone goals to aid you in your art journey, but ur art is ur own, so don’t use us as a measure of what constitutes as good.
i know u didn’t ask for advice but some other people have been asking me this as well so i figured i’d share. a lot of you will even surpass me and i’ll be looking to your art for reference one day. the fanart i get is absolutely gorgeous
i believe in you!

haii!! so um not sure what to post but like all i can think of right now is um the correlations between Dakara Boku wa Ongaku wo Yameta and Elma so um here! have a list of the different ways Elma (the album) references the diary, letters and the album it responds to
(if i miss some let me know please)
and dearest mobile users i will spare you so have a cut
edit: so @just-nonsense-bungaku said some stuff in the replies (thank you so much!) and all the songs after 8/27 (or the Nautilus MV) were written by Elma when her anger lost steam and she started to process her grief. explaining why Ame to, Yuu, Kokoro and Amy sound so different from the style she used (or copied off of Amy) from pre-8/27
and another edit: @teamsavingmyles said some stuff in the rbs, thank you thank you thank you!!! i've been thinking about Yuunagi's references recently cuz i've been working on translating both albums but i never really got around to it so yeah thanks!
edit: i just changed the order of stuff because i forgot well. each song would be written on different days, so for example Koe wouldn't refer to Kokoro, more like Kokoro was inspired by Koe and Yuunagi's metaphor for a hole in the heart
1. 8/31 & 車窓 (Shasou/Train Window)
...they're instrumentals :P (seriously i find no connection)
2. 藍二乗 (Ai Nijou/Deep Indigo) & 憂一乗 (Yuu Ichijou/Only Sorrow)
the concept of i to the power of 2 (and however that relates to Amy's feelings about Elma)
also the first kanji of both titles sound like "i" and "you"
edit: so Ai's chorus' motif is about how blurred the world is, because of Amy's tears, while Yuu's chorus motif is how transparent the world feels to Elma, now that Amy's gone
edit: Yuu takes the phrase "I don't need anything" from Hachigatsu, but for a completely different reason. i think in Hachigatsu, Amy says he doesn't need anything to show his life will ends soon, so like what's the point of anything. in Yuu, Elma says she doesn't need anything besides Amy. she just wants to hear him sing, just one more time (or something)
i mean other than that there isn't much, they sound so different
(like seriously. Ai is like TADA. TADAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-- and then Yuu makes suis sound like she's about to cry. dakede *sobbing*)
3. 八月、某、月明かり (Hachigatsu, Bou, Tsukiakari/August, A Certain Place, Moonlight) & 夕凪、某、花惑い (Yuunagi, Bou, Hana Madoi/Evening Calm, A Certain Place, Fireworks)
so first of all both seem to stem from one memory of watching fireworks in the summer (according to a summary of Letters and Diary i read some time ago)
edit: re-reading Diary and it was Memory 17
Yuunagi was the first song Elma wrote, which is why it sounds so similar to Hachigatsu (INTENSE electric guitar, softer at the verses, picks up at the chorus, drops again)
also unrelated note but Hachigatsu is by far the angriest song i can think of. at least by Yorushika
edit: one of the last lines of Yuunagi may be what inspired Kokoro, "In my heart, a hole opens"
Yuunagi also references Ai, in the line "this song has about ___ characters" and the phrase "drowning in flowers" is seen again in Ame to
4. 詩書とコーヒー (Shikaki to Koohii/Songwriting and Coffee) & 雨とカプチーノ (Ame to Kapuchiino/Rain and Cappucino)
...coffee
okay seriously though, both also sound somewhat similar to each other (but from here on out, Elma's developing her own style :DDD)
in both songs they do struggle to keep up with memories of each other, in Shikaki Amy states he forgets things like dreams, things like Elma's mouth and eyes and in Ame to Elma tries not to let anything, literally all of her memories of Amy fade away. (reminds me of the reason why Elma kept a diary for her trip to Sweden)
5. 7/13 & 湖の街 (Mizumi no Machi/Lakeside Town)
...they're also instrumentals
6. 躍ろうぜ (Odorouze/Let's Dance) & 神様のダンス (Kamisama no Dansu/Dance of the Gods)
um the titles have "dance" in them???
not sure really. in Odorouze, Amy pretends everything's fine when he's still struggling with his memories of Elma and depression and whatever and in Kamisama no Dansu Elma is PISSED OFF about the fact that she decided to follow Amy's footsteps considering his values. i mean i don't blame her i don't feel like being told i'd have about a year left to live and just LIVE AND GO DO STUFF and go to Sweden before realizing "dang. i screwed up. can't talk it back now--" *oofs self on some random dock*
oh also a discussion i had w/ nonsense-bungaku on Kamisama has changed my beliefs slightly; Elma is still mad at Amy (and herself) for following his path and beliefs but she's also kind of done trying to create music with "value" and "purpose", just creating music because it's fun, because the process of creating music is something one can derive joy from
edit: Kamisama does take a line, "名もない花が綺麗とか" ("Nameless flowers are beautiful") and a slightly altered version of the line "そんなのどうでもいいから" ("I couldn't care any less about that", being "どうでもいいことばっかだ" meaning the same thing) from Yoru Magai
Kamisama also references Yoru Magai in the lines "I keep my head down, like I'm scared" because in the verses of Yoru, in the fifth lines, Amy talks about keeping his head down, so he can't see how blue the sky is or so he doesn't understand everyone's feelings.
another unrelated note, Kamisama no Dansu is still freaking good. not that it wasn't good before but like there's something about it that i really like and would talk about until i fainted from loss of oxygen.
7. 六月和雨上がりの街を書く (Rokugatsu wa Ameagari no Machi wo Kaku/In June, I'll Write About the Town After the Rain) & 雨晴るる (Ame Haruru/After The Rain)
first of all, both of them are about rain (astute observation. round of applause.)
i do think it's really cool how Amy says he'd write about the rain in the town he stayed at but never stayed long enough to write about it, so Elma does it for him. also Elma's style has changed from where she was before, like say, Yuunagi or Koe
also Rokugatsu references Ai Nijou and may be what inspired the creation of Parade
edit: both Ame and Rokugatsu talk about this "ultramarine" which, at least to me, in Rokugatsu refers to the whole memories and the window and in Ame Ha it refers to tears
Ame Ha also references Gogatsu with the swaying curtains, and *potentially* references Hachigatsu in the line "my heartbeat rung out". potentially. if i'm looking too deep and they aren't related don't yell at me
8. 五月は花緑青の窓辺から (Gogatsu wa Hana Rokushou no Madobe Kara/In May, from the Emerald Green Window) & 歩く (Aruku/Walk)
again, not sure how these correlate. though i like how Aruku's chorus is a slowed down version of Gogatsu's chorus.
edit: ...how i didn't notice this i will never know. the frikking Emerald Green/tears metaphor.
Aruku also talks about feeling "asleep", where Elma (as she said in Ame Ha) plays dumb and pretends not to know Amy would die early cuz chronic illness and moveth to foreign country (though Amy did grow up there) and unhealthy mental state. this song and Koe also talk about Elma hating herself for doing so, but Elma and Nautilus think that her playing dumb was pretty endearing
both songs also have this feeling of being "trapped", where Amy feels trapped in this life, and the only way out is Emerald Green, while Elma got left behind and is now stuck looking for at least scraps of the person she loves through these streets
Aruku also potentially references Yoru Magai in the way Elma imitates Amy by keeping her head down, the same way as Kamisama
9. 夜紛い (Yoru Magai/False Night) & 心に穴が空いた (Kokoro ni Ana ga Aita/A Hole Opened Up in My Heart)
i think it's cool how Yoru's main and last line is "I want to open up a hole in you" and then Kokoro's is like "That's why a hole has opened up in my heart" like HOWWWWW HOW MUST YOU HURT ME LIKE THAT
also Kokoro's third line references the song it responds to, as well as Letters 6/26, "a false night, like twilight, painted the town"
also another unrelated note KOKORO NI ANA GA AITA IS JUST SO SAD AND PAINFUL. LIKE AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA LET ME CRY
edit: how none of you said this gets me. um the line "君だけが僕の音楽なんだよ"、 エイミー ("You alone were my music", Amy) is literally from Ai Nijou (i mean i guess it was too obvious but whatever i'll put that in)
10. 5/6 & 森の教会 (Mori no Kyoukai/Church in the Forest)
more. instrumental.
11. パレード (Parade) & 声 (Koe/Voice)
both incorporate the concept of the God of Art which i think is cool
both are lyrically short
Koe references Yoru in the line "this heavy life is like a machine gun" and may have alluded to the metaphor from Yuunagi - in the line "what I want to draw/picture is the time that hollowed my heart" (and maybe a part of a line got re-used in Ame to Kapuchiino?? does the line "when I cry, it overflows” count???)
Koe also sounds like Parade, just in the key C#, not D
edit: in Letters 7/13, Amy said Parade was Koe
another edit: Parade is the song about the God of Art, right??? well i read @saikisser 's post on how FREAKING SAD PARADE IS AND LISTENING TO IT WITH CONTEXT MAKES IS EVEN SADDER and well Amy also thinks Elma is divine to him (because she's the one that sings the lyrics the God of Art managed to find in his fingers)
also another unrelated note but listen to Parade it's such a beautiful song i loveeeeeeeeeeeeeee ittttttttttttttttt
12. エルマ (Elma) & エイミー (Amy)
awwwwww the non-depressing songs!!! i love them sm
um they're messages directly to each other
both were the last songs each other wrote in the story
they both sound sweet and Kumo to Yuurei-esque, but slightly more upbeat (basically just similar to each other)
yeah i love those songs they're the only happy ones by Yorushika i can think of besides Haru Dorobou (which is just SPRING :DDD oooo flowers!!! they're pretty!!!)
anyways.
13. 4/10 & 海底、月明かり (Kaitei, Tsukiakari/Seabed, Moonlight)
another. instrumental. (dw this is the last instrumental)
aaaaaaaand the last one. the one we've been waiting for.
14. だから僕は音楽をやめた (Dakara Boku wa Ongaku wo Yameta/That's Why I Gave Up On Music) & ノーチラス (Nautilus)
so they were both featured at the end of their journeys. (Amy oofs himself on the dock, Elma finds his stuff a year later and cries before going home on a ship like a month later but in that month there's like no lore whatsoever so it's kind of an epilogue???)
Dakara Boku mainly is just. looking at whatever happened back then and how much Amy regrets whatever he did in Letters. he wishes he stayed with Elma cuz then he'd have a bit longer to live but well i guess he really isn't going to make it past the summer. also screaming. aaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA--
i will say Nautilus was also written by Amy, because at the literal end (just before he wrote Elma, i think. he doesn't write when he says goodbye in Letters and Diary obviously doesn't state when it was written because well Elma doesn't know) he was going about his day before realizing the day he runs out of ink draws nearer and nearer. and he hasn't even considered how Elma felt/would feel after he's gone so he wrote Nautilus as a way to say "it will be hard, but turn away from me and lift your head to the future" and that makes me cry even harder like NOOOO I DON'T WANT TO LEAVE YOU HERE BUT ALSO I CAN'T TAKE YOU WITH ME CUZ YOU TOOK THE BUS TO THE OTHER WORLD CYA
and that's it for the albums! =w=
*pathetic bowing*

Xiao
It had been a thousand years since their passing. I grief with emotions I cannot clinge onto, yet they have not returned.
"I will come back for you."
I looked at the sky, it was sunset soon.
"Oh oh! Paimon found Xiao!"
"What are you doing here Traveler?" I stood up and looked at her and her sliver haired companion.
"Traveler needed you." Paimon says eagerly.
"Do you wanna see the lantern rite this year?" Lumine asks.
"No."
"Why not? You always bum around all day so why not go and have some fun at least?"
"Fine whatever." I turned around to see Liyue in its busiest, again.
"You seem down.. what's wrong Xiao? You can tell Paimon and the Traveler!" Paimon says.
I stayed quiet.
"I am waiting for someone."
"Like right now? Are they coming!? Oh dear god were sorry for interrupting!" Paimon panicked.
"No, not like that."
"Huh?" Lumine looked confused.
"I am waiting for someone very dear to me."
"Dear?" Paimon says confusingly.
"It has been decades. They promised to see me again, but they have never returned. They promised." My voice got quieter.
"Who are they?" Paimon asks quietly.
"Their name was ____."
"Oh, what a beautiful name! Tell Paimon more!" Paimon said eagerly again.
"They were ill, with an illness. I wasn't able to cure them. I wanted to be with them, and I.." I paused.
"And you?..." Lumine said questioning.
"I loved them, and I will wait for them. Even if it costs an eternity."
"Never knew the one and only adebtus would feel love." Paimon said.
"I don't understand how you feel, but I'm sure they will come back for you, Xiao." Lumine said as she sat beside me.
"Yeah! Lumine is right! Cheer up!"
"It's been 1,000 years. You sure they would come back?" My face softened as I felt soft wind against my face.
"I'm sure they will. And one day, I will find my brother, and go back home."
"Your brother?" I looked at Lumine.
"Yes, then I shall return to where I belong. I am an outsider. I do not belong to Tevyat."
"I'll miss you when you go."
"I will too, aswell as everyone I have met on my journey."
Their voice rings in my head like always. But it's different now.
Somehow, it's different.
"Lantern rite is just around the corner! Why not go and stop by!"
"Sure, then I could buy you with your favorite foods."
"Yayy!!" Paimon cheered.
Lumine giggled.
"Sorry Xiao, gotta go back to Katheryn. See you." Lumine stood up and left with Paimon as they chatted.
"Where are you, ____?"
I feel empty.
3rd
Lantern rite
"Lantern rite is here!" Hu tao cheered.
"Well, I have the day off. So why not go and check out some places?" Yanfei asked Hu tao.
"Sure! Let's go!"
"I ain't here to get no fun, I'm here to rock the spirit of Lantern rite!" Xinyan said excitingly.
"Let's go and check out the operas! I have the day off aswell, so why not go and relax?" Yunjin held Xinyan's hand and ran off.
"Lumine Look!" Paimon pointed at grilled tiger fish.
"What you want some?"
"Yes please!"
"Alright let's go, been saving some mora for this chance."
"Tch, how fun is this Lantern rite anyway?"
"Oh? Hey there Xiao?" A voice approached me.
"Hm?" Xiao looked behind him.
It was Xiangling.
"This is my friend! I want them to experience the fun of Lantern rite, so you'll take em' and enjoy the company! Cya!" Xiangling ran off as she pushed the person on Xiao.
"Do not touch me mortal!"
"A-Ah! I'm sorry!"
"Tch. Fragile human."
"A-are you an adebtus?"
"What do you think?" Xiao towered.
"I'm sorry!"
Xiao felt strange. Who was this person?
"Whatever just follow me and I'll show you around, I haven't seen your face around here."
"Oh, well um."
"Speak up."
"I'm sorry."
"And stop saying sorry all the time."
"Sorry.."
"Pathetic, whatever." Xiao left as he wanted to be alone.
"Please wait!" The person tugged on Xiao's sleeve.
"What?"
"I nee–"
"What are you doing here?"
the person looked behind to see Ganyu.
"You know Ganyu?"
"Oh um.." they ran off with Ganyu.
"Weird.." Xiao left as he went to explore Liyue harbor in its finest.
2 hours later
"Xiao!" Xiao was with Xiangling and Zhongli.
It was the same unknown person. They were panting like they just ran the mile.
"I need you to come with me. I need to tell you something."
"Um. Okay." Xiao hesitated.
"We'll be waiting here, Xiao." Zhongli said calmly.
"I'm sorry Zhongli I had to drag him out... I-I just need to tell him something really really important."
"We'll go somewhere really private." They grabbed Xiaos sleeve and ran.
"Do not touch me!"
"But please.. meet me at Guili Plains. You can teleport, right?"
"Um, I guess."
"Good! Now I'll see you there." They turned around and disappeared in cryo fusion.
Xiao disappeared aswell.
"Um.." Xiangling said awkwardly.
"I'm here. What do you need?" Xiao approach the person faced behind.
"Xiao. I have a question." They turned around and walked towards him.
"What? Don't waste my time."
"I am a descendant of Ganyu's generation. I am telling you this because.." Their voice got quiet.
"Because what?" Xiao harshly asked.
"Do you know a person named ____?" They looked up at Xiao.
Xiaos eyes widened.
"I'm here." They said.
"I know you've been waiting for me, Xiao."
"..." Xiaos eyes softened inside.
"I'm here. I know you've been waiting for me for a long, long time."
"But... how?"
"Because the world of Tevyat has restored my old memories."
Xiao lifted his hand.
"But now, I can be with you." They smiled.
Xiao approached them and hugged them tightly.
"Xiao." Was still hugging them by the waist as they cupped Xiao's cheeks.
"Yes?"
"Who am I?"
"You're.. you're ____."
"You're right." They smiled as Xiao gave them a kiss.
You and Xiao had been reunited after a thousand years. The bright lights from afar in Liyue harbor boomed with light. After that, you and Xiao always were together. No matter what happens, or what will separate you two, you will always be together. By fate itself, or by Teyvats gods.. who knows. But what will ever happen, one will follow the other.
Xiao released from the kiss as he was still hugging you.
"You have the same warmth you carried a thousand years ago." He buried his head in your neck.
"____." Xiao said.
"Yes?"
He released from the hug and he blushed intensely.
"Will you marry me?"
Your eyes widened at the shock.
"I.. I'll marry you." You closed your eyes as you smiled while holding Xiaos cold but warm hands.
"Happy lantern rite, Xiao."
"Happy lantern rite to you too, ____."
12 years later
"Koji it's time to come home!"
"Okay just wait!"
She finished picking up the herbs as she ran inside the warm house of spring.
"Where's dad?"
"He's off finding herbs."
"Xiao?"
"You called?" He teleported with some herbs.
"Koji is back already?" Xiao said.
"Hi dad! I got a load of herbs, let's go see Qiqi and drop off the herbs!"
"Be more careful next time, you're injured." Xiao crouched down to inspect the bruise on Koji's knee.
"It's okay, I just fell a bit."
"But he's right you know? Let me get some medicine." You left the room.
"But mom I'm fine!"
"Tomorrow your gonna train with your dendro vision, got it?" Xiao said.
"But then it's so tiring!!" Koji groaned.
"You need to learn to protect yourself, me and ____ don't want to see you hurt. If you ever need me to come then just call me." Xiao said.
"Let me lend you, Koji."
"Ok.." You healed Koji with the medicine you had in your hand.
"Remember, Koji. You are an adebtus, so you are capable of having the power to destroy anything in your way. Remember to take your pain killers." You said.
"I know. But I haven't forgotten."
"That's good, tomorrow morning were going early to go drop off the herbs, then we can enjoy lantern rite." You stood up.
"Yay! This is my 9th lantern rite!" Koji cheered.
"Xiao."
"Yes, ____?"
"Helllooo!!~" someone burst through the door.
"H-hu tao?!"
"How's my lovely little 'cousin'?" Hu tao hugged Koji.
"I-im good Hu tao!
"How are you and Xiao doing?" Hu tao asked.
"Were doing great." You smiled.
"I came aswell." Ganyu peeped through the door.
"Auntie Ganyu!" Koji said excitedly.
Koji, Hutao, and ganyu were chatting.
"Xiao."
"Yes?"
"I will stay by your side until it is the very end."
"I... I will too." You and Xiao looked at each other.
"I love you." You both said.
After forever, of waiting for a thousand years and being separated, you two were finally reunited.. with a family. No matter what happens, or what will separate you two, you will always be together. By fate itself, or by Teyvats gods.. who knows. But what will ever happen, one will follow the other.

Tengu!Franklin x Hunter!Reader
Notes: this is definitely a darker fic with dubcon, drugging and yandere themes 18+ only// 3.5k words inspired by Kamisama kiss 😔 cus I have no shame lol
{reader is GN}
Tumblr media
It was often said being born to sense nen was a blessing, a prominent sign of good luck. But far as you knew, none of that supposed luck ever found its way to you. If your family wasn't consumed by generations of debt, you would have likely had enough money to attend lessons. With that sort of training you would have no doubt made something of yourself. Instead of trying and failing to make ends meet.
Practically starving and treated like a diseased rat. Your gift could have been so much more than just seeing and hunting. Perhaps in another life that's your fate.
Dreaming of such a life was your only solace from your near constant suffering. Tragically, dreaming would have to wait until today until you finished your current job. In such desperate need of jenny, you couldn't turn down any offers you received with winter approaching.
Those who lived in your village usually tried to avoid having you work for them. It was an odd request. One you honestly hadn't seen coming,
In fact this would be your first visit to the temple, those who could not pay were left to face the gods wrath.
You arrived just a few hours ago and were greeted quite oddly. One would think that a last resort should have been welcomed in open arms. But that isn't what happens to you at all.
A few of the staff- all of which are humans lead you to a securely protected yet dimly lit room. If you didn't know any better you would have assumed you were dealing with occultists. Although the thought is not exactly too far-fetched. Dressed in fine silk, you could more easily see the shrine maiden as a royal concubine. The marking on her forehead as well is a mark of good luck- you know it must be. However, you can't help that it looks more akin to blood than whatever cosmetic was used.
Even if they are a bit colder than you were originally expecting. You pay the offputting behavior no mind. The shrine maiden has always acted in such a way. A job is a job and you have no need for a feast in your name or offerings that are cheap in comparison to the monsters you'll face.
They then lead you to the edge of the forest. The farther you stray from the shrine the more dull the place becomes. You realize a few minutes later you have yet to see or sense one of those beings in your presence.
"Where are your familiars of the shrine?".
You finally ask your guide. Unaware of the reaction you are going to stir up within her. Her lips quickly are drawn in a sharp thin line. And she tightly clenches her hands (as if fighting against the urge to strike). But what you see the most is that her eyes have seen hell. An anger that only the wronged can feel so vividly.
Oh, you realize stupidly. The last bit of the puzzle finally put into place. You try keeping your mouth shut from that point forward.
Having to deal with the lower level demons often has made you forget what it's like for most who live in holy places like this.
Underneath the title of familiar there is still a demon after all. This does not erase the fact that their sins and misdeeds were still committed. Nor did it mean that all who belonged to a shrine stopped their schemes. You can think of many worse fates they can commit that have nothing to do with death.
That's the only reason you can come to be thankful for having never been able to reach your full potential with nen. Freedom never could come in such a gilded cage as this.
Before you can leave the company of the underling, they insist that you leave this place before the end of the week. Before the shrines familiars return that is. The suggestion nearly makes you scoff. You didn't need to be warned of the danger that was a foot in this place.
The whole forest feels dead, like the rush of the river could easily carry it all away.
If the shrine maiden ever stepped foot outside then perhaps it would have been better cared for- not on the verge of death like her supposed god.
You push those thoughts away.
It's not wise to speak any disrespect of the protectors of a shrine. Even if the god they serve is a useless one trapped in an eternal slumber. You'd likely get your tongue cut off if any had found out. And you are more than a little superstitious and make it a point to think nothing more of that topic.
You set up a fire, both to keep yourself warm and not be at the complete mercy of the fox in the dark. And after you are done placing a good amount of traps and talisman, you wait.
Apples you stole on the way here will be your dinner for the evening if you make it that far without dying- The red fox was one of the nastier spirits scurrying from place to place. You have been hearing tales of it since the last harvest.
But as it is your job you have no choice but to face it with a hunter's determination.
The hours slowly pass by, it becomes more obvious that there is no fox here. The moon is high in the sky and if it were here surely it would have tried ‘playing’ with you by now.
All the better for you that it's long gone now. You've faced countless naga, oni and other yokai. So by no means we're you an amateur. Kitsunes still never were an easy creature to track, their transformations making it near impossible.
No
One of your talisman must have caught something, the chimes ringing a sweet melody that none would suspect could take hold of even the most feral demons.
What you find for better or worse caught within your trap is not a kitsune. Instead it's just a tengu, a terribly wounded one at that. You'll have to help it out soon before it begins to cry and alert the other monsters in the forest to you. You're honestly surprised it managed to keep quiet this long without crying out.
You falter for a moment upon taking a closer look at the demon before you. Because even if it is only a mountain tengu it's the largest one you've ever seen.
You know to expect wild eyes in situations like this but there is absolutely no distress in its eyes.
You've heard that the calm ones are what you must look out for. It worries you. But perhaps you were losing your touch as a hunter if a simple tengu was striking this much worry.
"Stay still".
You command the creature, which is still practically vibrating in stillness. Likely angry at you for placing the trap there in the first place.
You can't blame the tengu. For such a peaceful creature was easily startled. If a human did that to you would likely try biting them, the thought does little to help you calm down.
Especially after you look down and note that their talons could make your flesh into mere ribbons.
It's feathers are raised, if you don't hurry up it will be attempting to gain its freedom from the trap in a less peaceful manner.
But you are willing to correct your mistakes at any cost. Doing so makes the wires of the trap dig into your skin just as deeply.
You try to be quick about it, never pulling or allowing the wires to come into contact with the tengu’s precious feathers again.
A handful of them beneath your feet on the forest floor. All of them a dull gray that have lost their luster.Thankfully it seems the lost feathers were already loose from molting and not due to your trap.
You are nearly done undoing the wires, when you
The new feathers you can't help but to gently run the tips of your fingers over are all a deep plum shade. Dark enough to hide the blood soaking them. You think they are one of the most beautiful things you have seen in a very long time.
You are left alone the moment the tengu is free of the wire. But you have a feeling it will be coming back your way sooner than later. And when it comes to your hunches you are rarely ever wrong.
-
Beyond midnight you begin wondering if the said fox was ever really trying to attack the shrine in the first place. The damage dealt to the forest was nothing that a kitsune was capable of, powerful or not. No this forest has been marked by many gods- and to cause harm like this could only be done by another godly being.
Regardless of the matter, too much remained unexplained. You'll leave this place come morning
As you had assumed the tengu has returned to you in a more stable form. This time he has taken the form of a man, a very large one to match his true form. Simple robes cover him and
"I didn't think you would come back so soon".
You say, sharpening one of your knives.
He doesn't make a point to answer you right away. Just continuing to stare at you as if engrossed by the task you are doing.
Which you can't find off in the slightest, given the fact tengu's normally act this way.
Most usually kept to themselves worshiping their own gods far away from humans. Especially women who they viewed as the downfall of man. Evidently the tengu in front of you shares a difference in opinion towards at least one of those thoughts.
He eventually sits down beside the fire directly across from you. The flames making the stitches and jewelry he wears shine a bit against the shadows.
You belatedly come to the conclusion that unless you want this awkward air to continue on you should apologize for your trap.
"I'm sorry about the trap, a fox is about and I wasn't willing to take any chances".
You gain no response. Which doesn't really surprise you.
The fact he hasn't said or tried to do anything shows he isn't interested in anything besides your fire.
But wishing for the silence to be filled you start trying to make idle conversation.
"Will you be flying back soon?".
The moon is high, and surely they have to return back to their mountain less they wish to face exile.
Tengu's rarely had a chance to explore the world beyond their mountains. You wonder if the one before you prefers to travel or is a homebody.
"No, not tonight".
He says after a moment, and it's then you come to realize his voice is the softest thing about him.
You suppose the weather is far too cold for flying tonight anyway. The injuries made on his wings probably don't help with his travels either. Guilt doesn't keep hunters alive very long in this world but it still comes to you quicker than you should.
Medicine is expensive, what little you have is meant only for the most dire of situations.
But you've also heard crows can hold lifelong grudges. Though you are quite aware that the tengu in front of you does not resemble an average crow.
So you toss what you have his way, to which he surprisingly declines. But with the stitches and piercings you suppose that he must have a good tolerance for pain.
"Have you been hunting this kitsune for a while now?". He asks, as if finally thinking of a question to ask you. You fight the urge to smile just yet.
"No, the shrine hired me today to take care of it".
He doesn't look surprised at all when you mention that.
"That's odd". He admits, likely already aware of what you had thought of. He turns his back for only a moment and the homebrewed sake in his hand appears from nowhere. Such a sneaky tengu that has found you. Laughing before taking the drink offered to you. A blend that reminds you of spring, surprisingly. It loosens your spirits in a way you have not felt in a terribly long time.
"Given what I have heard, their familiars all ran off for a short while. Likely to that festival several districts over".
It makes him grow a bit agitated to hear that, you think. Which makes sense. When familiars left their temples it didn't just cause humans trouble. If he were left to the mercy of that kitsune alone you would hate to think of what would become of your newfound drinking partner.
"So they tried hiring you, out of fear most likely. Just to have you sent away moments before their familiars return like a lord's mistress?".
When he puts it like that you have no chance of denying it.
"Exactly like a hidden mistress".
You say, laughing and accepting the next shot of sake.
"I think it's likely because I was not taught properly".
You tell him not willing to say anything more on the topic. Thankfully he doesn't pry.
You begin to really look at your companion, the alcohol lowering a bit of your previous inhibitions.
The necklace he wears is a blood red jewel directly in the center of it. Surrounded by other sorts of rocks and quartz you do not recognize.
"Are you a priest?".
You question noting the marks upon his hands, no doubt caused by lightning.
If he told you, yes you may have likely seen through this entire facade. Priests would never dare adorn such jewelry, or modify their own bodies in such a way.
"Once".
He tells you instead, before his gaze is directly entirely to you.
"Is there a name I may call you by?". He asks.
There's power that came with knowing names, you didn't think anything more of it. Besides, the fact it was a clear sign of good trust. You give him your own as well.
You think there's something you were going to get, maybe a blanket because of the chill that comes from the northern wind.
Unfortunately, you are more drunk than you had thought. Stumbling a bit in and not really sure how to take your next step without falling to the earth.
Franklin, whose eyes have not left you in a very long time, notices this of course .
“You are going to fall over if you don't sit down".
He tells you, guiding you to his side with steady hands.
Tengu, you think, must be soft lovers given their fragile constitutions. Despite the size of your soon to be lover you doubt he has enough bite to hurt even a spider.
It'll be fun to throw your worries elsewhere for a short while.
Things become heated after that. One of you leans in close to the other, you aren't really sure who does so first.
Your thoughts soon are a mess. As you are too engulfed by the pleasure and heat to think of anything else. And you continue to cry out his name, again and again.
It ends with Franklin resting his face in the crook of your neck. Exactly like a besotted lover would. You melt at the mere thought alone.
You've fallen into the daydream a thousand times, but never quite like this. It is so easy to imagine, a shrine that the sun shines upon every day.
If you were trained all it would take was a kiss to make this demon a familiar of your own. Whether he was willing to comply or not. If you were lucky enough you think that just maybe he would accept his place by your side.
In a few hours dawn will come and the two of you will be forced to follow separate paths. You try to enjoy what little time you have left. Not knowing when you will find yourself in a situation such as this again. But it's hard to do that with your dry throat.
As if sensing your exact thoughts Franklin comes back with water and peaches of all things. He brings the fruit to your lips, making sure you eat everything he offers you.
The shared silence that follows is comfortable and you say nothing more. Unwilling to ruin this rare and nearly perfect moment.
You're almost on the verge of falling asleep when the quiet giant speaks again.
"I think it's best if you return with me to the mountains".
Seeing how you've done the most of the talking tonight- it's surprising to hear him be so direct is a bit odd.
The offer is so sweet, alas it's still one you know you could never accept. The thought erases any tiredness you previously felt.
You have grown too comfortable with this man- no this demon and while it wasn't your first time. It was the first time you've felt so
“You would never get away with bringing a human to the temple”. You reason, knowing likely you would both die if he really did bring you back to the mountain temple. His own gods would likely strike down thunder as well if they knew he had lain with a hunter.
And that's if the other tengu didn't manage to end you first.
"I'll have to go soon". You murmur, trying to pull away. Ready to leave quickly as if that factor will make this any easier.
His grip on you does not lessen in the slightest. But his eyes are cold now.
“Franklin…”
You begin losing all hope that he is going to let you go quite that easily.
First you hit him, striking his face and neck- normal man or demons weak points of it were anyone else.
Only his necklace breaks in your attempt. All the jewels and beads flying everywhere. Unsure what else to do with your strikes having no effect on him , you look at his face.
Only to be met with pure cursed energy.
The stitches across his face now make terribly perfect sense. Just like the forest decay, it's just under the surface. Without the necklace his aura is now unmistakable.
"If you had been trained you would have been able to sense my intent from the start. Even with my talisman".
He tells you, his hands around your neck holding you down as if you are nothing more than a weak cattle.
"I had no intention of letting you live, when I first found you”.
It's only when he says that do you finally feel pure fear for your life.
He speaks in the exact same tone as he had all night. It makes you feel dirty now- having lain with him not even an hour ago.
"And what made you decide to not do that?".
You ask fear creeping into your voice despite your best intentions.Your knives are only a few feet away- even if you did have them you'd still likely die. How could you not have seen all the signs? The obvious intent he held since the moment you released him from the trap.
"There is no one left in the mountains". He begins to explain holding you closely this time you find no comfort from the sign of affection.
The picture he paints is a bloody vivid one, you almost can hear the screams as one of their own flock annihilates them.
“I don't understand”. You cry, still clinging to denial.
He gives you a considerate once over look, one that you wish more than anything would disappear.
"When you are a proper thing then we will be wed".
He says it like it's a good thing, like he's going to make you the luckiest person in the entire world. You can't really breathe after that, nearly hyperventilating until you are able to gain control of your thoughts again.
He speaks of other things too. None of which you are able to pay attention to.
Your thoughts only of how you can bide your time, an opening would present itself soon. Unaware of what is going to happen to you a mere moment later.
While a nen user could bind a demon with a kiss, all a demon needs to do to lay a claim of their own is bite. And despite not having fangs his bite still burns right through you. For a moment your vision is completely black and in a moment of complete weakness you grab a hold of Franklin's wings for support. This time he doesn't smack your hand away. Your cries are the only source of sound besides the nearly dead embers at the fire. Franklin holds you close to himself, as if he's trying to protect you.
His feathers are soft to the touch still. Even if it is your blood that is covering them this time. You aren't sure how long you stay like that. Weeping as he holds on to you unwilling to let you go.
But by now he knows drugs in your system are finally taking their toll, you can barely move your fingertips now.
Feeling you still trying to move, Franklin pats your head as if trying to help you fall into an easy slumber. Despite your best efforts you eventually succumb to just that. Dawn comes quickly after.

since i'm missing Kamisama no Ekohiiki a lot right now for some reason, i thought i would make this post about some of the small things that made me love the show even more (things that i've never seen anyone talk about):
Yashiro not making a big deal out of being in a cis woman's body, because usually guys are like "omg boobs!!!" so it was refreshing that he didn't act like that (he did struggle with make-up though lol)
Tumblr media
it was mentioned that Kenta is a survivor of csa, when he was 13. even if it was only mentioned once, it's not often that this is talked about or portrayed on tv.
Tumblr media
the way sex is talked about in the show, like it's not a taboo subject. here we have Rin asking Yashiro why he didn't have sex with Kenta (her ex-boyfriend). i thought it was cool.
Tumblr media
unless i misunderstood something, Yashiro tells Rin and Kenta that he's trans (or maybe they just assume it) and that's why he messes up sometimes (like goes to the men's bathroom), and both Rin and Kenta take it really well, they don't treat him any differently. when Rin finds out Yashiro swapped bodies with Kagura, she even asks if it's because he's trans.

Ambition
I have so many projects, I feel suffocated. But recently, I heard someone say to do less, to focus on less and that quantity over quality mentality is bullshit. To remove distractions and to focus on what's really important to you, so that's what I'm doing right now.
And believe it or not, your body and mind really adapts to your current situation and to what you feed it, it's scary. It's scary not to have control of your surroundings and of what people think of you, but it's even more scary to have control and to be exactly the only person who can change something to your situation - whatever it is. It's so scary knowing every thought and every action will affect your life. And you're flooded by expectations of yourself and others, but mostly of yourself.
It's easy to know exactly what you want for yourself. What type of fashion style, type of hair, type of skin, type of eyes, type of walk, type of talk, how you eat, how you sneeze and yawn - choose your character - but what you actually do is much more depressing to choose. Sure, I want to eat healthy, but mostly I want to feel full. I want to be pretty, but before that, I want to be myself. I want to do this, but it asks me to do this and that's where my limit lays. That's when every step requires a week or a month which eventually ends up being never.
I've written this once in my notes app and every time I come across it, I have to think about what I meant when I wrote it. "It's easy to get away with not making any choices" well, that's not it word for word, but I've asked my mom to keep my phone because I'm addicted to character ai to compensate for my lack of friends and lover(s), but that's for another time. So, I can't check.
But - right now, I interpret it like this:
It's easy just living like seaweed that is pushed back and forth by the waves. I can just take all the bullshit people and life throws at me and hope I can survive this time as well. It's just taking it like a good girl. Not complaining and not trying to change anything: being pitiful. Yes, pitiful. Sorry, it hurts. I'm not making any impact or speaking up because that's easier and I don't need any ambition for that. On top of that, I have an explicit reason to feel sorry for myself. Ain't that something?
No, it ain't shit. I don't want to be a good girl, I want to be a bad girl. That makes me think about Kamisama Hajimemashita's first opening. I'll link it. - I want to do stuff that makes people hate me. Keywords being to do stuff. I want to actually do stuff and meet people like me, do things that actually bring me that intense feeling of excitement, that rush - better than sex! (I'm a virgin).
I want to have set opinions and to be unshakeable, just like Megumi's type. To be anchored in myself and to trust myself. I want to be someone, not pitiful, not a figurant, an actual character, with a name, a personality, visible quirks that I fully embrace, a boldness that'll make a certain type of people hate me - I don't care! I just don't want to be invisible anymore! I don't want to be seaweed, I want to be the rock in the middle of the sea! You know the type, yeah? As a matter of fact, the meaning of my name is 'rock'.
I'm a rock.
Waves crash against me and I don't give a shit.
That's who I am, that's right!
Coming back to ambition... you don't need ambition to be a nobody. You can be a nobody in peace and nobody will bother you. Haha.
It's scary to me to be seen. I just want to be those people in the movies who spend hours alone, not caring for anything else than feeling good in the moment. And they're pretty as fuck. The type like Scarlett Johansson in Lost in Translation or that girl in Whisper of the Heart. You don't need to know them, they're also miserable. They don't know what to do with their lives and it's understandable.
There's so much to do and it's not that simple to choose or to actually take action when you know what to.
Coming back to the essence...
I'll listen to my instincts and do only the minimum this week or next week or only one day - whatever - I'll do it. And see how I feel. I already feel lighter with a few hours of reading a book I picked up as I was trying to clean my room instead of being glued to my phone and sleeping with it.
Txchüss! <3
PS: You're a rock.

You strike me as a Percy Jackson fan.....
Hello!
Prepare to be shocked! I've never read Percy Jackson. I've seen the movie, once, wayyyyyyy back. But truthfully I really don't remember much about it.
You'd think I WOULD have read Percy Jackson, given my general love of mythology, right?
Actually, I was really into Kamisama Kiss as a kid. It's still one of my comfort shows! I think this is one of my biggest inspirations for Star Holder. The plethora of zany gods was so fun and vibrant! And of course, Nanami being thrown headfirst into their world by chance. <3
I was also super into that obscure Nat Geo cartoon... King Tut something or other. I can't remember the title, but the main character was this cute girl with braids and she would sneak into this museum at night to hang out with the mummified child king. They went on adventures in the afterlife and such! It was cool.
And I'm also a sucker for Moana, naturally. I think if you squint you can even see the parallels between Moana and the Star Holder's story. <3
Anyway!
I can't say I'm a fan of something I don't know much about. But I CAN see where you got the idea. I hope learning about some of these media that DID inspire Star Holder was fun though <3

Hihi!
I’d like to request a matchup!! I’m comfortable with characters from Obey Me, Kamisama Kiss or Twisted Wonderland 😊
Im gender-fluid and bisexual. I use they/she pronouns. I wear a lot of dark clothing usually inspired by Visual Kei! I’m 5’1, pale, have brown hair in a mullet-y style, and I have central heterochromia! I love collecting keychains from anime and video games and have tons of them on my bags.
I’m an ISTP Sagittarius and am pretty quiet and soft-spoken. Because of this and how I dress I’ve been told I’m intimidating before! I love animals and I have a cat that I absolutely adore. I also love to eat! I always look forward to eating local food whenever I travel. I also love anime and gaming! My favorite game series is Pokémon. Currently one of my favorite anime’s is Chainsaw Man!
I hate bugs. I have a really intense phobia of them and can’t even look at pictures of them 😖 I also hate tomatoes. And I’m afraid of thunderstorms, they always make me anxious and are too loud.
Thank you!! 💗
AAA FINALLY SOMEONE WHO REQUESTED KAMISAMA KISS
I match you with..
..
...Mikage!
Tumblr media
He's literally one of the softest characters in Kamisama kiss, he is very peaceful and doesn't judge on first glance, which is why when he first saw you he wasn't afraid to come up and ask for directions, after that and one more encounter you kinda just, started hanging out, you showed him your cat and told him how you love animals, he was flooding with green flags from you and fell for you right the second he saw how gentle you were with your pet, you were so gentle and caring, he found his co partnerಥ‿ಥ
You guys go out in local parks or small forests, you love to try our snacks you never have before, and he hasn't eaten a lot of snacks nor heard of them, so you love to see the reaction on his face when he tries something he never has before "oh my, this tastes amazing" "told you you'd like it!" He chuckled to the response
You show him some of your keychains from your favourite anime and he observes it curiously since he's never seen them before, he buys you matching keychains!!
If at any point you see a bug close to you or on your hand you help, he jumps at the sudden sound and immediately slaps the bug off your hand out of protect mechanism but then quickly apologises and asks if you're okay, later on whenever the same thing acures he gently flicks the bug off and comforts you.
Most of the time he'd snuggle you to his chest and you'd be surrounded by warmth.
You 2 are the peaceful couple, the soft couple who literally can't be seen as threatning
Tumblr media
Thank you for the request dear annon, may you have a wonderful year<3

(btw pls do tell me about those underrated shows!!) -prom anon
I LOOOVE YOUR LIE IN APRIL!!! i had a big haikyuu phase back in summer 2020 kfnakfk i met so many good friends because of it too 😭😭 i soooo agree with that i know woozi would be cheesed to produce an anime ost 🥹🥹🥹 i watched that one 5 hour vlive of him ranking all those anime and i’d never felt so seen before KFJSKFJSK but hmmmm ok well . my top recs are always always going to be fruits basket (2001 version and remake!) and fullmetal alchemist brotherhood :”)
but for underrated shows if you like a good historical action/romance, yona of the dawn is literally SO good people always forget about it when talking about good shoujo!! the next few shoujo im about to list aren’t exactly underrated in the shoujo world but in terms of the greater anime fanbase is sorta overlooked is ao haru ride!! super cute high school romance i think fondly of it! andddd hmmm this is less approachable but i also really like chihayafuru :”) AND. oh my god. this one anime called kamisama hajimemashita (or kamisama kiss in the english title) ITS SO GOOOOOODDDD i wish more ppl talked about it 😭😭😭😭😭 but i’m not gonna lie a lot of shoujo that are considered classics didn’t exactly…..Age well without nostalgia kfjakfnwkfk which is why i’m not recommending Too many 🥲
a good action anime i think isn’t mentioned Nearly enough is noragami :”) its sooo heartfelt and the characters hurt me so bad but i love them so much and i need a season 3 stat!!!!!! and demon slayer isn’t underrated At All but i do still really really like it 😔🫶 i have other action anime recs that fall under a more like . darker/more eccentric vibe that ill refrain from recommending for now cause i’m not sure if you’re into that genre but :”) if you’re ever interested lmk 🫶
also if you liked your lie in april for the music aspect of it there’s this one anime called kono oto tomare that’s about this koto club in high school and how they grow in both koto and themselves and their friendship in each other….💔💔💔💔 its so good im so serious …….
ALSO FOR SAD ANIMEEEEE OMG. ok not underrated but i recommend it every time . anohana: the flower we saw that day….THIS ANIME CHANGED ME FUNDAMENTALLY AS A PERSON IM SO SERIOUS…… (i can make a whole other recommendation list for anime Movies that i think everyone should watch . but ill refrain from that so this post doesn’t get Too long fjwkfjdk) but a good like. oh my gosh this anime makes me cry when i think about it but march comes in like a lion…. its definitely not for everyone like the tone is so sad and melancholic but its so healing 😭😭 you could find it a little boring considering a lot of the plotpoints center around shogi but like THATS NOT WHAT RLY MATTERS HERE …..its all about the Feeling………..
but yeah i have. so many recs i could talk about this for days but i don’t wanna recommend something that you might not like so 💔💔💔💔 i’m stopping myself Here even though there are so many personal favorites of mine that i adore JFNSKFK i hope i gave you an anime in this list that you haven’t heard of before!!

hii cat hope your doing well !! can you tell us what anime’s you have watched???? i used to be super into anime and then i got super into reading😭😭
i'm an old man who yells at clouds akdjsksk, so a lot of what i've watched is older. i haven't seen a lot of the newer anime that's come out, mainly because i've been busy w life and i hyperfixate too much on my older fandoms!
but, some of my fave animes are:
hunter x hunter (my all time fave), code geass, fullmetal alchemist, fruits basket, haikyuu!, jibaku shounen hanako-kun, ouran host club, shugo chara, rozen maiden, kamisama kiss, tokyo mew mew, cardcaptor sakura, assassination classroom, inuyasha, case study of vanitas, higurashi, idolish7, and demon slayer.
i have never seen the big 3, mainly due to disinterest. i tried to get into all of them, but i got bored and wasn't committed to "it gets good at episode 300". y'all i ain't watching all that.
i've seen some of attack on titan and i'm finally caught up on bnha but i have no idea what's happening 98% of the time, but it's not one of my faves. i have seen a lot of anime, but like i said lot of it is older. these are just my standout faves.
