the title of chapter 1116 is 葛藤/kattou, which is translated as 'conflict' in the unofficial scans and as 'inner conflict' in the official.

this is a pretty interesting word; it's composed of the kanji for kudzu (葛) and wisteria (藤). while it is indeed best translated as 'conflict' or 'discord,' the specific idea it conveys is of a sort of territorial struggle, as in the struggle between those two vines over the same piece of land. in the chapter, it's the word that edison uses to describe stussy's internal strife.

so, yes bakugou no kacchan is stg I'm forever gonna be shuddering, silently sobbing abt when I'm alone, but,,, could we pick at nidaime's name too?

so I hope I got the kanji right for Kudou which is Ku + Dou = 駆 + 藤

the first kanji combines the radicals for horse + goods, meaning "ride, drive" and the second kanji combines the radical for plants + kanji for wisteria/climbing plants, right?

🥹 "wisteria rider" sounds very magical girl ngl im into it!! but I feel like there should be more nuAnCe :0

So, for 藤 its JP/Kun readings are mainly the ones rererring to climbing plants/wisteria, but its CN/On reading tou/dou seem to be used in another common word 葛藤 Ka(t)tou meaning discord, conflict, complication etc (do u see what I'm getting at lol)

So my angle is, could we maybe interpret nidaime's name "kudou" as "driving/driver of conflict/complication/entanglement" (accounting for its "kattou" usage for "tou"s meaning essentially) since he canonically made yoichi and afo's brocon problems and other business also the business of the entire world - "entangling" others, "complicating" the situation, etc etc etc

Don't stop there! You can actually tie the "complication/entanglement" and "wisteria" meanings together! Wisteria is a twinning vine that has interesting symbolism in Japan. Apparently it features notably in a famous kabuki play about a woman enduring the hardship of an unrequited love, and thus the wisteria is a symbol of "victory over hardship."

But do note that the "drive" meaning for 駆 is not "driver" like an agent--it's more in the sense of "drive a car, race." The kanji is part of his name as a direct pun on Gear Shift. Because we can't not have puns on their quirks, let's be real.

•Ittoku Kattou is my oc.He is 15 years old,and in high school.He works 2 jobs one is babysitting skid and occasionally pump when skid and pump hang out,he also works part time at the candy club.He is "friends" with Roy to a degree they only really hang out when their parental figures(Carmen,and ittoku's older brother Irima) hang out,he and roy needless to say aren't very close.He struggles socializing but he tries his best.(more info about him here)

•This blog, as stated before, is in the spooky month universe,and characters and plots from the show will be at least somewhat involved in this blog,as Ittoku has interactions with Canon characters.

•Ittoku and his brother moved to the town realitivly recently,as they only have lived there the last few months or so.They live next to Ignacio.

•This blog is in the universe/continuity as my Ignacio blog(@irritated-incendiary ) and my oc's Roswell blog(@the-prophet-of-the-universe)takes place in the same time frame as that blog

•Posts will either be text accompanied by art,text accompanied by crude doodles,or just text

*Fullten es un término que se refiere al estado en el que las perillas de control de un amplificador están configuradas al valor máximo ( 10 ).
