As a reaper, every 99 years he possess a human body and visits the mortal world to punish humans. This time around he possess Dr. Do Jin Woo, which leads to him getting involved with Dr. Han Gye Jeol. Han Gye Jeol works as a visiting physician. She is often looked down on for her degree from the country's lowest ranked medical school. When Do Jin Woo appears in front of her, he is the first one in her life who takes her side. I was a bit disappointed when a "cure" is found (waaay too quickly imo) for most of the drama, which I get it, they need to progress the plot, but still - boo ... but it's not a permanent fix, so there's that to look forward to lol

Kokdu: The Season of What-the-Heck

Because I was looking for something to fill the time between The Starry Love episodes, I tried Kokdu: the Season of Deity. I've gotten to ep 6 and I'm done.

The heroine is dumb: Han Gye Joel seems to be the dumbest doctor ever. Whenever there is any accident or medical emergency, she just freaks out and doesn't do anything. She's the typical female lead with a passion but is clueless to anything outside of her job. Ugh.

The plot is what?: It's like Beauty and the Beast mashed with Goblin with a sprinkling of Fairly OddParents and a tiny bit of Ella Enchanted. While that sounds cool it's boring. And there's this side plot about corruption at a company but it only shows up every other episode?

Kokdu had potential, but: I actually like the character Kokdu. He has these emotions and he's not afraid to voice his opinions (though sometimes they are violent and crazy) and I appreciate that after so many cold-faced CEOs in dramas. However, the character has been so minimized by this stupid plot that I find him boring.

Waste of powers: I really enjoy seeing a character to use their powers at their fullest, ex. Youqin from The Starry Love (my most recent example). He used his power to save the 4 realms and (maybe) used up his power doing so (he's also technically dead). This Kokdu god has powers, but we've seen a smidgen? He's being used by a human and while that's supposed to be cute, I'm annoyed.

Kokdu: Season of the Deity

Episode 1

Omg what was that first episode! They dropped us right in to not one but two melodramas! I seriously have no idea what to expect from the tone of this show now. Will it be silly? Dramatic? Wildly swing between the two? At this point, I have no idea.

I am looking forward to the next episode in hopes of getting a handle on what this show really is. I don't trust that it showed us yet. It threw down so much exposition, and yet I feel like I know absolutely nothing. It's wild.

Speculation below

The old lady that was telling the opening tale, I think she is a God or the God. She knew their past lives and after lives. She really knew their story. She explained why they were punished and why God would look down on their actions.

It could be nothing and just how they decided to frame the first story. It just feels too pointed for me.

Just watched ep 1 & 2 of Kokdu: Season of Deity

So .. there are these scenes in ep2, where he is now Kokdu, and his job as this deity is to send souls to the afterlife (kill scumbags, basically). He receives his missions/requests by hearing the pleas of the humans .. lots of ear ringing & holding his head in pain .. which is all good and fine, yes, very nice but ...

But damn! This boy is VOCAL! 😅

Lots of yelling, cursing, groaning - it's got me blushing 😳😳😆

But no, honestly, it's a bit of a refreshing change from the suffer-in-silence types (which are still great lol, but I feel that's just what we see most often)

I wish I was able to clip the vids for ya'll (even if I knew how my computer can't handle the work anymore - it would crash instantly) .. so if anyone else wants to clip them, or you just wanna see 👀 .. the first time happens around 14:45 (TW: SA, suicidal), the second time is about 34:45.
