Ezekiels sword - it's actually named The Dove's claw but it's not addressed by name too often. It was forged for him by a group of Powers at the time of the war. Ezekiel initially didn't want to join the fight but the sword was made in very specific standards to his liking, so he's agreed to wield it in battle, along with a small shield occasionally. It's a silver long sword with a golden handle, padded out with a cushion for comfortable wielding. With the shape of it's guard, the sword's silhouette forms the shape of a Christian cross, although this isn't entirely intentional, and Ezekiel feels quite awkward about it. The sword also has a silky veil attached to the handle, which leaves two ribbons to sway freely. The ribbons are white and resemble feathery wings in appearance. Per Ezekiels request, the sword is incapable of hurting angels, even by accident. It will stop dead in it's tracks. Regardless of wielders intent, it will never pierce an angel's flesh. As for the other features, the slice of the sword is sharp but near painless; if for example it were to cut off a limb the initial strike wouldn't feel like much of anything, the pain would only come after from the body realizing it's been severely injured. Of course, Ezekiel aims to not do this. If he fights with The Dove's claw, he either defends or aims to kill on impact. Painlessly, obviously. He's clean and graceful with his sword. Following his passing, the sword is in possession of Kxxxtr, although she's only subconsciously aware of this fact due to traumatic dissociation

Kxxxtrs staff - it has no official name. It's a golden staff, thin and delicate, and covered in eye symbols. On one end of it, there's a plus sign emblem and a minus sign on the opposite one. This staff was used by Kxxxtr to commune with mortals and grant larger scale blessings. It was also used during the war to cast spells and whatnot - since she was background support. It only worked as an amplifier for their natural divine energy, as well as a way to channel it more gracefully. The staff had vaguely divine qualities but no actual abilities of it's own, aside from levitation. Unfortunately it was broken a long time ago due to a clumsy incident on the battlefield. Specifically, Ezekiel being flung at Kxxxtr at high speeds and the two crashing into each other. Remains of the staff are scattered somewhere in Kxxxtrs room. Lost.

Pride Judge Stevious' hoard - Made and/or collected by the Pride district's former high judgement Stevious. The hoard mostly includes various jewelry and other similar fancies. Regardless of what they were originally made for, most if not all of the items in his hoard are wearable, although how easy or comfortable it is varies greatly. It used to include lots of gems, but unfortunately any that weren't attached to some other item have been destroyed, stolen or lost. This is the reason Stevious has made it so most of the items in his hoard can be worn by a person. While the hoard has far too many items to list off at once, here are some of the more notable ones:

- Tracking and salvation rings: three rings currently worn by pride judge Delilah's assistant, Lassi. Each of them can be worn separately, as they each have their own affects. The tracking ring (currently worn on Lassi's talon) is exactly what it sounds like. It's used to keep track of where it's wearer is at any given moment. Although it has a certain range and thus isn't able to tell the location from impossibly far away, it still works from an impressive distance. When it's at the distance that it stops being able to track the location of the wearer, it's still able to inform the person tracking them of whether it's still being worn or not, and depending on how good the tracker is at interpreting it, how far off range the wearer is. Normally when out of range, it doesn't have the features to tell where it's wearer is (unlike when it's in range), but it has certain quirks that allow the tracker to estimate or guess likelihoods. The two others, the salvation rings, are being used as a duo (both currently worn on Lassi's tail, although he occasionally wears the other on his finger). One of them is a boost ring, which, as you'd guess, boosts any other artifacts worn on or held by the wearer. It also grants an increased endurance towards damage done by outsider inanimate objects (not any attackers or weapons, but like fall damage or crashing into something). The other is the Actual Salvation ring, which means that sort of like the tracking ring, whoever is connected with the wearer will know if they're in danger, hurt, or dead. While it may not always activate automatically, since the concept of being in danger can fluctuate based on individual, the wearer always has the ability to supernaturally activate the ring (Manually). This'll inform the other person of where the wearer is and the state of their health (mostly physical but it can also work for things like panic attacks, psychotic episodes, disassociation and other severe emotional distress states). It tunes and adjusts itself to it's current wearer over time, and what the wearer feels endangered by.

- Power enhancement ring(s). One ring currently worn by Lassi as well, and although there are more, one is well enough for a demon of his scale. He wears this on his finger. The function of the ring is pretty self explanatory; it enhances any supernatural energies, magic, or abilities the wearer has. Either naturally, or learned. Similarly to the boost ring, this one also grants increased immunity from inanimate damage and powers up any other magical artifacts, spells or whatnot that the wearer possesses. The power ring however can also grant increased immunity from third person's supernatural attacks, ie if someone tries to cast a spell on the wearer, it's less likely to work, or easier for the wearer to block. The nature of the power ring is risky due to how supernatural energy and power works (this is referring to what I said about Lassi's scale as a demon). Originally these power rings were made for high demons and other more powerful lifeforms, thusly it's wearer needs to have a good grip on their abilities, and preferably, be already at a certain stage of power.

Quick off topic but related info bit/

The reason most powerful lifeforms are giant, or tend to veer towards being huge is due to them needing to contain more energy. Energy, which usually converts to something that can be used for power (magic, life force, physical strength ect.) Thusly if your vessel is either too small or too weak to contain all the energy you'd want, bad things can happen (what happens to a water balloon filled with too much..?)

This is all related to the power ring. If the wearer isn't competent enough to handle large amounts of energy, the ring can easily bring more harm than good on them. If not death or injury, the individual can end up unintentionally inflicting a curse on themself or cause corruption in their energy or body, which leads to all sorts of fun things. It is recommended that for civilian (Aka little, human scaled ones) demons, no more than one power ring should be worn at a time. And it is of course recommended for skilled users only

It's not very surprising Ngah ended up abusing Kxxxtr.

After she lost her mother, she cut herself off from everyone else around her emotionally - Ezekiel especially, the only her aged angel, and among the few who actually offered to support and care for her in her grief. Someone she, too, cared about, but refused it from herself as a defense mechanism.

They would ofc eventually crash and burn which lead to Ngah decapitating and banishing him. A very nasty end to a familial relationship.

Now, sometime after Ngah lost her mother, Kxxxtr came in as the new fledgling and would come to form a sibling relationship with Ezekiel, while remaining completely distant from Ngah - They were too scared of her cold demeanor and unlike Ezekiel, hadn't at any point had a positive relationship to her. So Ezekiel has two sisters who he loves, but who don't really like each other.

Ngah gets to watch from the sidelines how Kxxxtr gets to have Ezekiel as her brother, how they support and defend each other and find safety together - safety which Ngah feels was robbed from her abruptly. She gets to see them have the relationship she could've had, had she not been so devastated by her loss that it destroyed her ability to be vulnerable to anyone.

Unfair, she thinks. Secretly she's jealous, and comes to resent Kxxxtr, this pathetic thing made by a failed high angel, who continues to be - in Ngah's eyes - a failure themself. A fearful, stupid, weak thing. Whom Ezekiel loves and protects.

Unfair.

If she couldn't bond with Ezekiel before, she certainly can't now! He's already carrying someone on his wing. He's already chosen who he's loyal to. And, Ngah thinks, not admitting to herself - Ezekiel doesn't deserve yet another burden on his shoulders. Ngah needs to be stronger than that. Better than that.

Better than them.

And so she becomes that.

Then Ezekiel is gone, suddenly, and it's all her fault. She hates him. She hates that she couldn't have loved him. And this little pathetic thing - Kxxxtr, is the only one left, and she's so very distraught by Ezekiels loss. What a burden. What a brat. Let him go, she tells Kxxxtr (and herself), and makes them live in fear of her. Maybe one day, the guilt and grief will stop. She bashes Kxxxtr for their emotional weakness until they start repressing it. She bashes them, hard enough to hope it would echo right back to Ngah herself.

It barely works.

In truth, Kxxxtr is technically the only living sibling she still has, but she doesn't like to think of it that way.

Lamera is born with his halo on the same spot as Ezekiel. She hates this, a physical manifestation of the family member she rejected and came to despise. A reminder of all the pain she imparted on someone who only wanted to care for her. Proof, that she still hasn't let Ezekiel go.

And she bashes this onto Lamera, who so badly resembles Ezekiel. Not only that, she also twists him to become deeply devoted to her. To impressing her. To gaining her approval. So strongly, that maybe, just maybe, Lamera won't leave, like Ezekiel. Ezekiel betrayed Ngah, afterall. It was his own fault all this happened.

AND ON ANOTHER ASK BECAUSE I FORGOT. WHAT is her opinion on stuff like Angel numbers. Because I think its funny to assign meaning to numbers and especially angelic meaning, so I think itd be funny to tell them about it

Kxxxtr is aware of this as a practice and finds it fascinating, especially seeing how she's the resident bookworm and mortal media nerd! She believes there is some legitimacy behind it all, since numbers and number series hold meanings in some cosmic studies that exist out there, but she's more interested in the cultural and historical aspects that have spawned the concept of "angel numbers" amongst humans.

However, Ngah is the resident math and cosmic science nerd. She's very into numbers bro. And geometry.

Since she's such a big fan of the concept of Perfection, she holds symmetry in extremely high regard and is, for this reason, very fond of her appearance for example. She's also a big fan of the number three, and in her studies has concluded it's one of the perfect numbers and also one of the most important in regards to the makeup of the entire universe. See, triangle is the most stable form. Three. She has three heads and three legs, must be for a reason, right? Thusly both her kids also have a theme of threes (ZZZ having three heads, Lamera three ears), of course to bless them to harmonize well with the cosmos around them. The standard number of high angels in present day is three (as long as she, Kxxxtr and Ezekiel had been in power, at least, and it's the minimum number of high angels to be had at all times. According to da rulz), and the exact number of high demons in hell is also three. Angel numbers come in series of three. Third time's the charm! Religion has the concept of the holy trinity; she's not religious but that must be a thing for some legit reason! There's three ethereal realms of the afterlife: hell, heaven and limbo. I could go on (and so could she). If Ngah knew about 5 dimensional chess she'd be all over that shit

"So, what are the in-story reasons for the name being briefed like that?"

Okay so Kxxxtr (Klatterasphaus assigned at birth) was created a little after Ngah and Ezekiel, enough to fit into the same generation but slightly later so they became sort of a younger sibling to them. At least in terms of age difference. At this point Ngah was already starting to be Like That™ so Kxxxtr didn't get to be in good graces with her at all. So she gravitates towards Ezekiel, bc despite being created to fill a role someone else failed at and to be a competent and dignified high angel, wuh woh irony, she's an insecure baby. Ezekiel loves and supports her and they have a great and close relationship.

Kxxxtr has alot of pressure on her (see the part about being made to replace a failure). Her name is implied to have some ties to this, or at least they overhear the elder angels talk something about "The klattering sound of [????] halos". She tries to brush it off but it sort of unsettles her since she didn't hear all of it, and now has weird questions about their name. She doesn't have the gall to ask the elder angels about it, obviously, and doesn't bring it up for a while. Ezekiel notices she's upset tho so they talk about it and Eze tries to reassure them that maybe it was something cool! He comes up with "The klattering sound of golden halos during a graceful dance" "Because you're graceful!". This helps.

Warning for mentions of dismemberment and talk of trauma under the cut (this is where we get into the "Kxxxtr" part)

Time skip to when Awful Stuff happens, and Ngah pulls Ezekiels head right off. Kxxxtr is deeply traumatised from witnessing this. They heavily dissociate during the entire part where Ezekiel, still alive as a head, is banished, along with most of the angels that support him. When she starts coming back, most of the memories from this conflict are blocked out. She can't quite fathom why interacting with Ngah brings her intense terror. She just knows Ezekiel is gone now. Obviously all of this is extremely hard on them so to reflect the blocked out memories, and to honor Ezekiels absence, they 'censor' the name. That's why it's Kxxxtr.

I'm not sure if I'd call it a deadname, it's a bit more complex than that. To her it's meaning is tied to her awareness and symbolizes the support and care received from loved ones. So she'd go back to using it amongst trusted people, but otherwise still be Kxxxtr. She's more used to that now anyway.

If that's something you're wondering about, this post is for you! For reference, the long version of the name is Klatterasphaus ["Clutter-uh-s-faus"], but it's briefed to that^ for in-story reasons.

You can actually do it a few different ways, any of them are cool w me.

Most commonly: K-tsrrr [the K is Not "Kay", it's "kuh"](I mentally read it like this whenever I see the name)

Alternatively: Cut-zar [The A vowel comes from the long version of the name. The c is a hard sound] (easier version of that previous one)

Also possible: Kaxter [Minus the L since the briefed version doesn't have it] (a combination of the first and second one)

Most rarely but also valid: Klaxter or Klatter [First half of the name by itself, plus X] (sounds cool)

AGES:

Nan being an elder is somewhere between 50-60, I think developmentally she's the oldest character here (not chronologically bc Grandefel has for sure existed for over a thousand years but ykno. What's equivalent to their species). Ofc nan has likely also existed for a little longer than that chronologically speaking? Can't say for sure but she's in the Early elder category. Maiju is AT MOST (equivalent to) in her 40's but I'd put her in late 30's. Middle aged to some capacity. Grandefel is funnily enough youngest of everyone despite having existed the longest lolol, for an angel she'd be considered to be in her 30's approx. She's in the generation between Kxxxtr and Lamera.

HOBBIES:

Grandefel - What hobbies? 😔 Yall got free time from your all consuming societally enforced role in life? Most her free time is spent with Deirdre and the kids, but if not she's out in the sky exhibiting cat behaviour (lounging on sunny clouds, napping in strange poses and knocking stars off counters their course just bc)

Nan - Something very grandma esque probably. I mean I'm sure she does alot of "hobbyish" activities but moreso because it's been a vital part of her duties growing up (sewing, gardening, cooking ect). But how she entertains herself? Pinecone cows. And talking to them. (Google Käpylehmä, it's a thing wi/ Finns)

Maiju - What hobbies? Looking at picturebooks. Not bc she can't read or doesn't care about reading but she likes to look at nice things especially if she hasn't seen them before. Either that or sitting around and thinking about cool things. If she's feeling extra adventurous probably going on a walk or something, stopping to smell the flowers and all that jazz

Maiju - I feel like I could put so much here and it'd be really obvious. Like decapitation. Wielding a Warhammer. However I think she's the best at being an advisor and second in command to Xerxes when he's Going Normal™ about things (as he does), and keeping the anchor down on stuff. However she's also great at supporting him in his decisions so who's to say..

I'm honestly a little unsure how to answer this for the other two, I'm not saying there aren't things they're good at but I can't think of something they excel either. I think I'll just say both Nan and Grandefel are great at defying the will of unfathomable cosmic forces, whether that be deities Or societal expectations (guess which one is for which character I dare you)

Grandefel would probably claim it was the day she was made the primary Persecutor after her mentor (father) stepped down, however in reality it was her opening up about her feelings to Deirdre for the first time and crying in the presence of another person. For the first time also.

Mother Ngah (pronounced either "nnga" [throat sound] or "Nagha")

She/her

Age: Mature (Equivalent to a 40-50yr old), born in the latter third of the Angel/Demon war and has lived through to the end of it. Parent was High Power Iskayah, is considered a part of the same "litter" and generation as Ezekiel and Kxxxtr

Size: Approximately like the statue of liberty with it's pedestal included

Job: Takes care of all things cosmic and ethereal, and commutes with God's throne. She spends alot of time doing advanced math and studying things like geometry and other supernatural physics (or lack thereof). She looks over the maintenance of heaven and keeps a strict, iron grip order amongst the angels, at least when it comes to following rules and standards. She tends to be an absent authority, but if you really mess up something, she will know. She has a tendency to keep a close eye on heavens inhabitants, and isn't truthful about the extent of her watch or knowledge over other angels lives.

Abilities: She can destroy people's eyes or eyesight, reflect supernatural attacks (like spells) with her wings, and be able to tell whenever someone is blatantly lying. If you're simply avoiding the truth or gracefully speaking around it, she won't sense it, and thus has developed an invasive habit of roasting direct claims and truths out of people by any means necessary, to catch them. She's considered exceptionally powerful and holds a scary amount of physical strength when it comes to combat.

Mother Ngah is the matriarch high judgement of heaven who is in love with the concept of perfection, and holds herself to a very high image. She's a frequent manipulator and emotionally neglects her two offspring, ZZZ and Lamera, though takes pride in being a mother and has high expectations for both of them. She denies her own feelings except in rare cases when she can weaponize them in some way, but even then, doesn't admit them to herself, and has a tendency to bottle things up. She is a very intense personality, and blatantly willfully ignorant of other people's pain, struggles or comfort. A snooty elitist who likes to think she knows everything and is always right. Due to perceiving herself as the superior one around, she takes huge pressure over taking care of everything, and puts immense stress on herself without realizing it, resulting in her poor mood and strictness. When prodded enough the dam breaks and she easily feels victimized or betrayed by other people, believing that nobody truly cares about another person for unselfish reasons and thus never letting anyone close to her in order to avoid being hurt or manipulated (she'd know, being one who does that to others). Despite this, her two children are her weakness, and she is deeply hurt by the conflict with her brother, Ezekiel, whom she banished ages ago. Her massive sense of pride won't let her face these feelings, though.

As of late, she's been demoted from her position, with all her powers stripped from her, due to being called out for her dictatorship and mistreatment of others.

Oh boy her design? Let's say she really grew into it. Like the earliest art of her I have is sso ugly I'm sorry Grande but I did not have a handle on that thang. She had such Pug vibes. I think this'll be an interesting post?

This is the beginning of it all. Unfortunately I don't have a super insightful answer to how I came up wi her, bc the Og* angels were literally me going HeeHoo with a pencil. (*Certain specific angels I designed in relative succession to each other before I had a handle on how I want to design angels. The so called Ogs are Lamera, ZZZ, J'aimekiel, Grandefel, Kxxxtr, Ngah and Combfa. Everyone after this was designed a notable amount of time later and with much more "process" to them)

I have some thoughts but it's fuzzy and vague? Okay. So I thought I should definitely do one lion (esque?) at least bc *points at old religious art of angels* and they just have those Vibes to me, ykno? I associate angels with certain things that I try to employ in the story's characters (to an extent). Grandefels vibes were.. Guardian, maybe a tad like a sphynx, just ykno, a huge feline statue like entity who guards something and is like a scary immovable force ig? I wanted some ethereal aspects to it, and lots of teeth (hers aren't visible here but the whole underside of her body opens up to a huge ass mouth with teeth everywhere). Now, initially I was gonna have her hair be lilac but turn bright blue in some situations but I WAAAY preferred the blue on her. She's supposed to have Blue flames mixed with galaxy vibes. Like if blue flames were a puddle and that puddle was a lion's mane. And it was all. Cool and semi-physical

Onto how her design adjusted overtime.

I think most firstly I stopped drawing the grooves on her body that would open up to reveal the Teeth, I mean I do still allude to them vaguely but I figured the way I was doing it at first looked kinda.. Eugh? Another thing I quickly started changing was her hair texture. Originally I wanted it to be completely straight and smooth and flowing but it looked way more interesting and more galaxy esque with it being bubbly and cloudy. I guess my initial thought was that I wanted it to look like it was flowing out of her head? Like some water?

Oh yes, and the crown is another major change!

I think my first notable adjustment was made here (note also the flowy hair). If gotten an amino commission (No money, just amino coins lol) of her and really liked the way the artist drew her crown so I took after that and started slowly changing it. It took me a while to be satisfied with, though. In the very beta version, it was supposed to be like a ring/circle. If you look at the older drawings up there, you can see that one horn is meant to be drawn on the "front" and the other behind. It's like if you looked at her from straight up, you'd see the three dimensionality of it, being more like an actual halo instead of one solid headgarment. I do still really like this idea, however I just think it looks better as it is now. I also had a fair bit of finagling with the side horns, frankly I always found them ugly so I'm finally happy with how they look (just realising I haven't drawn her in a bit, so, the anthro pic is the most accurate to her current design if we ignore the uh.. Anthro-ness lol)

One more thing! You don't see her halo too often in these, but it's intended to be drawn tilted. It's not straight (just like her), and tilts a bit down on one side. In universe this is kinda viewed as an imperfection and she used to be ashamed of it. The irl explanation for it was that it couldn't fit straight between the horns, with the way I'd formed the crown, and so I kept it that her halo just is that way! It fits oddly between her crown and I think that's neat!

Apparently on that last picture I decided to draw the halo straight, though? Cringe... :/

Alright I think the poll result is gonna be for me talking about the angel characters who get way less spotlight. I guess I'd have to pick one, then? Or maybe multiple?? Up to me I guess but that's the topic. The ones I could talk about would probably include:

ZZZ, Combfa, Silverwing, Terjey, Dove and Parfait, and maaaaybe Kxxxtr? Although I'm giving her a little more focus in story currently, and I also have a big ask response about her coming up.. Hmm. I could also talk about the earth angels but they're really not in the focus of the story at all they're more like worldbuilding and currently more in their own little bubble. I also have other angel characters in this setting, ones who don't live in heaven, and yeah they're also not involved in the main story but they also have their own little stuff going on. What to do, what to do...

Random character notes but they get dark

- Mamonde and Avarice don't actually like or get along with each other at all, despite what many people would think at first. Avarice did like and admire Mamonde when she was still Mania, but says that she "Downgraded" upon becoming her current self, which Mamonde ofc finds maddeningly offensive. She, in turn, finds him a useless brat and "A personification of what's wrong with today's society".

- Setä is actually pretty frail due to how long and spindly he is. He gets bruises fairly often and has gotten into some pretty bad scuffs over the years. He also has joint pain every so often but fortunately he knows lots of DIY tips and tricks for that, along with many other ailments he or Aalto are inconvenienced by. Still, many tumbles or falls that normal people could walk off in a week can easily break multiple bones for him, and depending on the landing, certain falls are lethal. Hysteria takes great anxiety and care over making sure shriek catches him, or that he in general, isn't placed somewhere he isn't secure.

- Memphis ended up in hell due to being murdered, although despite this she isn't a spirit or a soul per say, her species just has regenerative abilities. She was married back then and has no idea where her wife ended up, and it worries him alot. He misses her. He's afraid that she died permanently due to protecting him from their attackers. While she doesn't remember alot from the incident, including who the attackers were, she remembers being paralyzed by fear so badly she didn't fight back, and she's ashamed of it, especially considering she remembers her wife fighting back. Most of the incident is completely blanked out of her mind but she has traumatic flashbacks and episodes sometimes. During the very severe ones she has delusions/hallucinations of being attacked again. The flashbacks don't make her memories any clearer and thus it's sometimes hard to predict what would trigger them

- Related to all that, Memphis isn't in hell to be punished necessarily but bc heaven doesn't take in demons. It's an unfortunate and old tradition set by the ancient High angels, and it causes demon souls (ones who have souls, at least, not all of them do) to not appear at heaven's gates at all. Thusly if a demon species has the possibility of an afterlife, they appear in hell regardless of moral, in which case they'll be registered as Neutral district inhabitants, unless they choose to go to some other district. If Terjey were aware of this limit, ge would undo it, but as of now it remains due to most current angels not even being aware of it (Ngah knows and would never undo the restriction, Kxxxtr knows but hasn't thought about it all that much and it's just sitting at the back of her mind. If she were asked about it, she'd show hesitance about whether or not any demon would get to heaven even if the restriction was lifted)

- Lassi had an eating disorder way back when he first came into the Pride district, but he hasn't really consciously realized this fact yet. He'd spent a good while on the streets before being moved to the Pride district so he'd lost alot of weight and food was scarce, which contributed to it. He had pretty bad body dysmorphia and dysphoria about how small he was, and insisted on wearing clothes several sizes too big for him. The disorder itself was binge eating but he has made a full recovery since. Though he still has a habit of comfort eating

Kxxxtr would be the oldest, Lamera second, then ZZZ, J'aimekiel, Grandefel, Ngah and lastly Combfa as the youngest.

Those are the angels I consider "The originals" since they came first before I really had a feel for designing these. Every other angel after these was designed notably later

I just think about that really early stage of the story when I only had the characters with vague connections and only some of them had a backstory or a fleshed out personality. And I compare to what they've become now, and my writing and drawing style differences.

Tbh mainly I just think back to it in terms of design lol, I just kinda went with whatever I thought of and let the pen guide me. These days I have a way more thoughtful design process but the eldritch angel stuff was new to me back then. But I just feel like I really popped off with (most of) their designs! And I feel like I haven't been able to properly replicate the Vibe that the ogs have in terms of design. They're weird. They're interesting. They're sort of incoherent. It's cool

- Halos are sensitive, so if you're heavy handed it feels the equivalent to someone poking your eye

- Her pawsies are ticklish u_u so while she might let a friend touch them, she'd be all squirmy

- Again if you're a friend, you may touch the guts, but if you put your hand/fingers between them, that's a different deal. Hence the pink lines there
