hi! okay this is insanely long but i had a lot of thoughts so bear with me pls.

i was scrolling through the jercy tag bc i'm starved and saw ur posts abt rhea/kronos & percy/jason and have to say i love them sm!! it's such an interesting concept and i've got a lot of cool thoughts abt them now thanks to you, buttt,, may i also offer metis/zeus & percy/jason parallels? it's a little stretch but hey idc it's fun

metis is the daughter of oceanus, percy is the son of poseidon (at both times, they're a child of the ruler of the seas) zeus is the son of kronos, jason is the son of zeus (at both times, they're a child of the ruler of the universe) metis & zeus met and fought a war to end kronos together...percy & jason unknowingly fought together during the titan war to end kronos and they do meet and work together during the giant war! and they make a great team, like in the twin giants fight

metis was a goddess of wisdom i'm pretty sure? and was zeus' advisor. i am a firm hater of the "percy is stupid" train because honestly it's percy who makes most of the battle strategies in pjo.

in fact here's some unwarranted examples: realizing what the lotus casino was, tricking crusty, figuring out the whole lightning thief debacle, giving clarisse the fleece, clearing chiron's name, figuring out he needs to take the sky, finding the nemean lion's weak spot, figuring out rachel is their guide for the labyrinth, all of his actions in the battle of manhattan tbh like he was crazy for doing all that at age 16!!, scaring chrysaor’s crew, making the combination of demigods to get nike, etc etc- i could go on and on!

so, i feel he can be related to metis in that he would be a pretty great advisor and obviously he'd be a fantastic leader. athena herself says the requests (read: demands) percy makes at the end of the second titan war are wise!

also think it could be interesting if poseidon delibrately chose to have percy look like metis. they'd probably look similar anyway but if poseidon wanted zeus to have some hesitation in killing percy, creating him to look like someone zeus greatly wronged in the style of kronos (aka eating someone) could do it?

anyway, moving onto jason! who, like zeus, is the youngest son and has a lunatic father that treats him like shit,, and at first zeus served kronos! just as jason did, but hey, if jason hadn't died when he did,, how long would he have continued to serve zeus?

rhea took zeus from kronos to be raised in crete by nymphs, like hera took jason from zeus to be raised in camp jupiter by wolves. and like rhea, hera is always on jason's side and honestly based on her toa reaction to his death, likely loved him like a son. and we know hera fucking hates zeus like rhea hated kronos.

jason is also strong as fuck, and ik rick knocked him out in every book because he didn't actually want his forced-percy-rival to actually showcase his powers but from what we know and seen he's like insane as well. PLUS he's been training since he was like 3 ik he's strong asf and zeus is sweating.

i know zeus would've recognized these parallels and got insanely paranoid bc yk him. ik zeus was exhaling in relief when jason died, and there's a reason he was always trying to kill percy. he saw his sins in him! everytime he looks at percy he sees the woman he tricked and treated like shit and more-or-less killed. but he also knows metis was smart and very capable, n that's scary to him. everytime he looks at jason he sees his younger self, and that's a horrible thing to see if you're zeus lmao

of course jason is much better than zeus and percy is fairly different from metis, but it's the small parallels and zeus' paranoia that makes everything bigger.

the act we know metis most for is supplying the poison for kronos to regurgitate his kids,, and percy has a pretty close connection to poison now after his fight with akhlys :)

Now!!! Hear me out!!! I loooove the Metis X Percy parallels, I never talked about it here because some things I keep for the fics 🗣️🗣️🗣️ but I totally GET YOU!!!

The thing about Rhea is that they prob look a loooot alike, so people (mostly the big six and, maybe, Kronos) attribute her whole persona to Percy’s even tho many things make zero sense. Because they want him to impersonate their mother somehow to feel their void. Others might think of him more of a Perseis kinda of person, just for the destruction thing. But Metis? She was gone before most Olympians were alive, so it’s not like they have a truthful idea of what she was like, and those who remember might not have been as close to her as Zeus.

Metis was the Titaness of good counsel, planning, cunning and wisdom. Which makes us think that Athena would be a lot like her, but I personally think Athena is more a Zeus mini me. Metis being an ocean’s kid and a titaness made me believe she was a lot wilder and not exactly the usual embodiment of these concepts. Which would make her much more of a wild card, so Zeus got rid of her when the prophecy about their son showed up. So like, I can see Percy embodying Metis’ aspect of these domains (while Annabeth would be more Athena-like), and Zeus being like…

In terms of looks, she and Percy might’ve not looked the most similar, but hey, Metis would question Zeus’ authority in front of the whole council and would call out his shit whenever she felt like it.

Jason, however, is a much tamed version of his father. In a good sense. He’s not cruel, and when he’s forced to make a choice that he feels bad about it haunts him. He’s not overly confident and proud. Beyond all, he was taught loyalty to Rome and the gods from a young age, contrary to Zeus who was taught rebellion and how he was supposed to be this great saviour. For a while, this probably made Zeus more comfortable about him than he probably was about Thalia, for example, or even Percy.

But romans and Greeks learn about each other and now Jason and Percy meet and turns out Jason is SMITTEN with his cousin? Yeah, that’s a problem. Zeus would seethe, and Hera would be 100% smug about it.

Suddenly, there is something that Jason cares more than Rome or the gods. That is dangerous.

Also, something about Percy being somehow paralleled with TWO titan queens is just…

I feel there's just so much wrong with the entire imprinting concept in the Twilight books.

The concept of never being able to say no or essentially make your own decisions because of the girl/whoever you imprinted almost sounds like a romanticized version of domestic abuse. Google describes it as "pattern incidents of controlling, coercive, degrading and violent behavior, etc". Now the threatening wouldn't be necessary because they literally don't have any choice or say in the matter. The entire idea of obsession and doing whatever pleases the person I've imprinted on sounds degrading, that you're now longer you're own person capable of making you're own choices. I find this ironic because SM literally tells us the underlying theme of these books is about choice. None of the wolves have a choice. They didn't choose to be wolves (shape shifters), they don't choose who they imprint on and they definitely don't choose what they get to do after imprinting. Did SM find it all romantic? Because everytime it's mentioned it just gives me the ick. The wolves are my favorite characters in the books and seeing them being forced into all this is so annoyinggg! They deserved SO much better.

Also, it shocks me that after all the success SM gained from tts that she didn't donate a penny to the Quileute tribe. It's super disappointing.

Oh, yeah, with you 100% on imprinting. I've never found it romantic. It reads as straight-up horror to me. Who even ARE you if you don't have free will? If you have to be whatever someone else needs? And beyond that it just feels fake and empty to me. Sam loved Leah. When he had a choice, he chose Leah. Magic overruled him and picked Emily instead. Why am I supposed to think his love for Emily is the 'real' love?

I get that the fantasy is supposed to be from the imprintee's POV, the fantasy of having this guy who is 100000% devoted to you, will never leave you, you never have to worry about cheating, he is there for you and will do whatever you want or need him to do. But that's not . . . that's not like a person who loves you, that's like a robot programmed to fulfill your wishes. For me, there's no real love without choice. This dude isn't choosing to show up for you every day if he has no other choice. It feels fake and arbitrary. Like a love potion, like Cupid's arrow.

And hell yes, the lack of choice with the wolves is a pattern and a really unsettling one given that she chose to make these characters Indigenous and tie their wolf-ness to that identity. They don't get to choose to be wolves, they don't get to choose who they love, within those relationships they have no agency and have to be/do whatever their partner wants, and then there's also the Alpha Order! They can literally be forced to obey, no choice there either. Again, this is straight up horror stuff. Loss of free will, loss of identity. That whole passage when Jacob imprints on Nessie is the stuff of nightmares to me. Everything that Jacob cared about, everything that made him who he was, is cut away and he is bound to a half-vampire baby instead. And now he has to keep phasing forever to stay immortal with her. To paraphrase Rosalie: this isn't the life he would have chosen for himself.

There are ways in which Twilight vampires get a raw deal too (when I'm sick and have a sore throat it's like, the Worst, so dealing with that forever and on a supernatural scale sounds horrific) but they still have CHOICES. Carlisle had the free will and agency to run to the forest and starve himself as a newborn. Rosalie had the will to kill her attackers without drinking their blood. Edward chose to leave Bella for a time when we're told Jacob spending any real time away from Nessie would be impossible because of the imprint. The vampires may have to FIGHT their nature sometimes, but SM lets them win more often than not. Carlisle can be a doctor; the Denali sisters can sleep with humans; Edward can resist Bella's blood; Bella can be the best newborn ever and not kill her dad. But the only time a shifter character is allowed to fight his nature is when Jacob defies Sam to break off and form his own pack, and that's only because of the loophole that Jacob was himself the rightful alpha. No one else has that option. Leah has to choose between allowing Sam or Jake to have alpha power over her.

Which is all why I thought Jacob's whole thing would be fighting an imprint. It would be so in character for him and such a good parallel to the vegetarian vampires fighting their thirst. I wanted to see Jacob say 'no, I don't care what destiny says, I will make my own path.' And you know if SM had had him imprint on literally anyone BUT Nessie or Bella she would have written about him fighting it! It would have been so cool! But no, because ultimately this is Bella's fantasy life, and part of her happily ever after is keeping Jacob around literally forever even though HE wouldn't have chosen an immortal life with the Cullens like Bella did.

It's also a follow up to this first post I have of them <33!!

phoenix and gekko have a lot of things in common, like loving their moms, having so many healthy hobbies, they're both pretty peppy and optimistic! And they almost literally share the same tastes in fashion and shoes!! they would totes be best friends at first sight and hype each other up so much it's crazy. Oh! And they can be LOUD. Asides from being loud I also think that as a couple these two could get 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓴𝔂 but that's a story for another time. AND MY GOSH I just love thinking about how gekko is a fucking champion at killing phoenix's cool guy persona (he half loves-hate that gekko could do that)— it is also obligatory that I mention that the word 'bro' gets thrown around a lot followed by actions with intentional and 100% homo I mean seriously how could they not

gekko and iso are adorable, just two dorks dorking it out. An introvert and extrovert situation if you will! gekko kind of took it upon himself to make sure iso kinda eases up when he first joined the protocol even tho gekko only joined recently too. iso had his doubts abt the guy but he loved the way gekko was just having a ton of fun and living life and iso thinks it isn't so bad to be doing that too at times:) I just think they'd be so fluffy with each other and soooo sooo mushy URGHHH they're the epitome of tooth-rooting fluff.... Also flustered (like tomato-faced) iso everytime gekko hits him with some smooth ass moves it's just crazy I love them </3 (yes, gekko can also kill this guy's cool guy persona, but iso can hold up longer than phoenix can lmao)

iso and phoenix are unexpected but I can totally see a dynamic between them too! Nonchalant, go-with-the-flow iso and overdramatic, theater kid phoenix. But like the way their personalities kind of clash is so good to me because they'd also be good rivals (bec at this point phoenix kind of just challenges everyone) and like iso HUMBLES his ass and it was strangely attractive to phoenix; and also bec iso is just so nice abt it too. they'd have a really good "friendly rivals-to friends-to lovers" arc me thinks. Also also there's no way they didn't have any sort of amount of sexual tension when they first met 😭😭 (phoenix just kind of has that effect on people). IT'S SO FUCKING FUNNY to think that phoenix did also try flirting with iso and the man did not get it at first and phoenix thought he was just bad or simply looked uncool in front of iso, until iso finally realized he was flirting, got really flustered too and just let it happen because he genuinely does enjoy phoenix's company <33

gekko and clove ARE JUST THE DUO EVER. I MEAN. clove's gremlin personality really compliments gekko's outgoing vibes y'know?? and like gekko kinda feels like the type to know how to ground them since sometimes clove's energy gets too chaotic. they're sooo cutesy friends to lovers too..... AND AND clove canonically loves gekko's lil guys so ?!?! Do I really need to elaborate that much on them I just love them sm they're great and I love their color palettes together < 3 oh and gekko would totally agree when clove would suggest they get matching silly frog tattoos and gekko's just like "erm hollon let me look for an empty space where everyone could see it!" ++ these two have either the worst or the best humor combined and like it's so, so bad sometimes that they're kind of considered a menace when together

clove and iso are so PRETTY??? LIKE TOGETHER AND INDIVIDUALLY. clove likes to think so too. in a way, I think their gist is like, Iso's used to being the one giving compliments but when he gets them he gets kind flustered and just says a quiet thank you like uesghfgavaa?!?! And clove loves showering him with those and most of the time they're naturally in awe of Iso's flawlessness! I also think they'd love to just launch themselves on iso at random cuz the guy looks cuddly what can I say and he catches them with ease :') their height difference is adorable too holy shit. Iso would also send clove funny cute cat pics and insta reels and it's also in line with clove's humor and that surprises them bec iso doesn't seem like the person to have humor at all when this bitch almost has the same gen z humor as gekko and clove (😭literally have u heard his voicelines

phoenix and clove makes so much sense cuz they would totally bond over the fact that they're both technically immortal and isn't that so fun?!? theyd be so much fun, they're like the life of parties. There would be some banter here and there but it's all lighthearted and so </33 clove would climb on phoenix and phoenix would also run around playfully trying to shake them off him. they're like a bunch of puppies (gekko would run around with them too) NOT ONLY THAT i genuinely think clove would think phoenix's acting would be so cool and actually very impressive cuz the man is so expressive. clove decided that phoenix could utilize that acting in DnD (like maybe LARPING) and phoenix is fucking down for it y'know?? i also like to think clove is just one if the most prettiest people phoenix has seen and phoenix has seen so much already in his lifetime. I genuinely think he wants and feels a closer bond towards clove because of how they both technically can't die and neither know if it's a good or a bad thing (but they mostly take it as a good thing+ good angst material 🤯)

As an OT4, all I could think about is how they could easily be mistaken for a friend group, until gekko starts kissing iso, and clove also starts kissing iso, then gekko moved on to phoenix and as he kisses him back phoenix also needs to give iso a kiss. They're all very comfy, and just chill, a good amount of PDA and they're open and vocal about their relationship! When you see them around, it's really either just 2/4 of the polycule. Oh and it's not that hard to hang out with their friends because admittedly they all just have the same friends (#jett is their designated fifth wheel). I'll also just attach an "understand my ship in 5mins meme" down here so it'll narrow down some basic stuff abt em <33

AND I'M GLAD YOUR TRYOUTS WENT WELL!! and that everyone was super nice <3 coaches can't expect perfection from you!! and i remember at least at my high school they had like three or four teams so i feel like your chances should be great!! <3 i also wanted to start volleyball during i think 7th or 8th grade but then just never did 😭😭 like i bought knee pads to really seal myself in that i'd start it and then just completely fumbled but it's okay bc a lot of the volleyball girls at my old schools were MEAN one of my best friends used to play volleyball and she'd always tell me about how toxic it was and the coach was also someone's dad so that girl got on varsity or whatever and yeah...i think i'm good i would not survive that environment 😭
