Tonight I finished the Midnight Breed series by Lara Adrian.

My journey with these sexy, badass vampires started way back in 2009/10. Now, 18 novels and many novellas later, the journey has ended.

I am unreasonably emotional.

I just love them so much 😭

Another 1001 shorty. It was simple. It had resistance. It had falling in love hard and fast (a shorty), and one page of actual action for the main storyline. I don’t know why it bothers me. Maybe because I want the end of Opus and knowing everything about it, and these romances get in the way?!? Maybe I am truly over the genre, but I want closure.

Jehan is a prince, and he has a duty — an old one and the Order — he’s called back home to take part on a mating bond to assure peace between prides of sorts.

Sera, his counterpart, is over there doing gods work while meddling in corruption; but with a pure heart.

These two end up in sheets but on their own terms, and yeah, danger was afoot! However, while they are over there falling in love at fast and furious pace, his brother and her sister are competing for who is the fastest couple alive. Their news shows up on the villa Jehan and Sera are staying and their deal is somewhat broken but nah? They continue and end up mated, the end. Yup, I too were blinking nonstop like that meme.

It was okay, cause they did bring some Opus danger to the desert to compensate, but very little to my liking. I’ll now seriously be awaiting my money to get the new volumes while lowering down (six feet under) my expecting more resistance, cause I think the couples in these books are too fast to fall victim of their bodies desires. Like, gimme the angst and struggle that actually takes a while — these couples remind me too much of me with chocolate and I kinda hate it.

And voila, we got to the root of my dislike. This isn’t a Midnight Breed problem, this is a book problem all across the board. Life ain’t that easy.

Anyway, no pictures, you know the drill. Off to another, super different type of book that I hope I don’t rip my eyes out. Yes, already turned a few pages and eye-rolled — and I was told it was good. So far, I find it to be a word salad. Just wait for that review, if I still have brain cells left afterwards.

Libri che consiglio a chi ha amato la Confraternita del pugnale nero di J. R. Ward

Su richiesta di una lettrice del blog ho preparato una breve lista di serie paranormal romance, disponibili in italiano, che consiglio di leggere a chi ha amato i libri della Confraternita del pugnale nero di J. R. Ward (di cui in Italia è appena uscito il ventesimo libro LOVER ARISEN):

- La serie Guild hunter di Nalini Singh, i cui primi 4 libri sono disponibili anche in italiano. Il primo libro della serie è Il profumo del sangue

Trama: Il libro è ambientato in un mondo simile al nostro solo, governato dagli Angeli, esseri immortali dorati di straordinari poteri che si sono divisi la terra in territori che comandano con un pugno di ferro. Nonostante il loro aspetto quasi umano, a parte le loro bellissime ali, gli angeli sono esseri antichi dalle potenti emozioni capaci di incredibile crudeltà, esseri disumani, odiati ed adorati al tempo stesso. Gli angeli hanno molti poteri e e anche il loro sangue ha grandi capacità, infatti è tramite esso che essi si creano dei servitori immortali, trasformando dei volontari umani, in vampiri. Alcuni esseri umani nascono poi con la capacità di sentire i vampiri, annusarli quasi come segugi potremmo quasi dire anche se i sensi che usano sono quasi soprannaturali. E questi umani sfruttano questa loro capacità diventando cacciatori di vampiri che commettono crimini e che soprattutto osano scappare dai loro padroni angelici.  Ellie la protagonista di questo romanzo è la migliore cacciatrice di vampiri di New York, ma ora persino lei si trova in difficoltà: viene infatti convocata da Raphael, l’affascinante e gelidamente crudele arcangelo che governa la città, uno degli immortali più potenti della Terra, per una missione speciale: deve dare la caccia e neutralizzare Uram, un arcangelo impazzito che si è trasformato in un efferato assassino. Inutile aggiungere che tra la cacciatrice e l’arcangelo suo datore di lavoro, Raphael, l’attrazzione è bollente….      

  - la Psy Changeling serie di Nalini Singh, i cui primi due libri sono stati pubblicati in italiano (e il terzo dovrebbe esserlo a breve). Il primo libro si intitola Schiavi delle sensazioni.

La serie è conclusa ed è composta in tutto da 7 libri, ma in Italia ne sono stati pubblicati solo 4. I romanzi di questa  serie sono postapocalittici, ambientati in un futuro terribile, città desolate ed in rovina, civiltà umana in ginocchio ed un mondo governato da immortali crudeli. Cinque uomini risvegliatesi dopo 55 anni in questo tempo buio emergono dal fuoco con nuovi poteri e cercheranno di sopravvivere e di salvare l'umanità, ma non possono riuscirci da soli. Naturalmente incontreranno delle donne ecc.. Ogni libro è dedicato in modo particolare ad uno di loro, ma le trame sono conseguenziali e diverse parti specie nel primo libro, sono corali, perciò sarebbe meglio leggerli tutti e nell'ordine giusto. Il primo libro si intitola I diari delle tenebre. La lunga notte

                          - la serie di libri Elder races di Thea Harrison, tutta disponibile in italiano, il cui primo libro si intitola Il legame del drago

Trama: Il primo libro della serie parla di Pia e Dragos. Pia è mezza Wyr da parte di madre, e mezza umana da parte di padre. La specie animale in cui sua madre si trasformava era talmente rara e ricercata che lei ha insegnato a Pia principalmente a scappare e nascondersi e a vivere tra gli umani sopprimendo la sua natura. Dragos è invece uno dei più potenti ed antichi Wyr, il primo Drago mutaforma. Pia tra i suoi poteri Wyr ha la facoltà di enrtare o uscire in qualunque stanza chiusa a chiave nessun lucchetto può imprigionarla, e per questa sua dote viene costretta a rubare qualcosa dal tesoro di Dragos….Inizia così una catena di eventi che la farà scontrare ed incontrare con Dragos che rimarrà sorpreso ed attratto da lei tanto dal volerne fare la sua compagna……                           

- La serie  Immortals after dark di Kresley Cole

 Da un lato abbiamo una sorellanza, donne dotate di poteri soprannaturali, leggendarie valkyrie, che hanno delle missioni da portare a termine e che amano eliminare mostri come vampiri, licantropi ed altro….Anche se alcune di loro sono per metà vampiro o sidhe o altro…Dall'altro lato abbiamo uomini affascinati anch'essi dotati di poteri soprannaturali, licantropi o vampiri o altro, che entrano in contatto (spesso si scontrano) con le suddette sorelle, e si innamorano di una di loro. Da qui nasce passione, poi conflitto, breve lotta e poi lieto fine. Il libro libro della serie si intitola Dark forever

             - La serie di Lara Adrian dedicata ad una Fratellanza di vampiri si intitola Midnight Breed,        

Le premesse sono simili a quelle della serie di J. R. Ward. E a dire il vero anche simili alla serie Carpaziana di Christine Feehan. Il primo libro è Il bacio di mezzanotte

Lucan Thorne è un gueriero vampiro che ha dedicato la sua vita ha distruggere i vampiri selvaggi. Proteggendo così umani e vampiri. Sa che non può cedere al fascino di Gabrielle e farne la sua compagna, perchè farlo la farebbe entrare in un mondo troppo pericoloso per un'umana…ma non avrà scelta….

Trama: Un principe misterioso, il principe dei carpaziani, nel suo castello tra i monti percepisce la mente di un’umana con poteri psichici e caooisce che finalmente dopo secoli di solitudine passati nel terrore di trsformarsi in mostro, è finalmente salvo, poichè la compagna alui destinata è giunta. Ora non resta che convincerla ad accettarlo, e non sarà affatto semplice….  Non è un libro esaltante o innovativo, è un classico romance con però un tocco soprannaturale, era il primo esperimento della Feehan in questo genere e si sente ma non lasciatevi scoraggiare, già dal secondo libro vedrete come le trame diverranno molto più interessanti e moderne, e piano piano, lo stile arriverà al livello di J.R Ward. Infatti la Feehan così come la Ward crea una vera e propria società, quella Carpaziana, con tratti specifici e poteri diversi da quelli dei vampiri classici e con mogia e tradizioni proprie piuttosto peculiari. Il primo libro della serie si intitola Il principe vampiro Attrazione fatale

@godzilla-reads February 2023 Reading Challenge

For February the book I am reading is Scarlett St. Clair’s “King of Battle and Blood”, the first book in her Adrian x Isolde series. And somebody tell me why I have been reading Isolde as Isodele this entire time?? It wasn’t until I typed it that I realized it. Massive facepalm.

I’m home sick so I only read 34 pages which is 8%

In order to finish this book by February 28th I need to read 13-14 pages a day (it is only about 390 pages) meaning I am 2 1/2 days ahead :)

so i understand that Adrian/ Dis strangling Isolde was scary and really bad but like why were they acting like Adrian could have actually strangled her to death when we've been explicitly told that vampires cant die like that/ can only die from fire and decapitation?? bitch literally gets stabbed in the heart like 2 chapters later and is fine Disdrian didnt even try to reach for a knife or just rip her head off lol
