It's Misa's World (You're Lucky To Live In It)
Day 7 of 31 of Kinktober
Prompt: Humiliation/degradation
Word count: 1636
“Light, sweetheart,” Misa hung around the banister with a light pink and black striped bag she acquired from her shopping trip with Matsuda earlier in the day. She waited patiently for any sort of response, but Light was buried in the monitors, scanning through different documents L had given him. He had heard her just fine. He just had zero desire to deal with her. Especially with L sitting right there.
“Light,” L kept his voice down, “Forgive me if I’m overstepping, but I think Misa’s looking for you.”
“She’ll hold out,” Light brushed her off, “We have more important things to worry about than how Misa’s day went.”
“Light…” Misa stomped her platform boot on the step, “I’m so exhausted…”
“Really?” L wondered, “I mean, far be it for me to care, but isn’t that kind of a dick move?”
“Light…” Misa’s patience grew thin.
“Again,” Light went on, “She’ll tire herself out eventually and she’ll leave us alone.”
“Light…” Misa growled, finally sitting down. Those boots were heavy and her feet were killing her.
“Come on, Light,” L begged, “Just throw her a bone. I don’t need to listen to her whining.”
“Liiiiiiiiiiiiiight!”
“What, Misa?” Light snapped, “What do you want?”
“I missed you today,” Misa pulled herself back up to the banister, her big, sparkly eyes staring through her boyfriend, “And I want to show you what I got. Matsu got so flustered, so I can only assume it’ll be well worth it.”
“I’m busy, Misa,” Light shot her down, “Why don’t you go upstairs?”
“Come on, Light,” Misa groaned, “You’re always busy. I’m sure you could spare your own girlfriend a little of your precious time. Kira’s not going to punish you for it.”
“Why do you say that?” L asked, his curiosity piqued. Up. Thirty percent.
“I just don’t think Kira would punish Light for taking a little break,” Misa draped her arms around Light’s shoulders, sending chills up Light’s spine…and a little bile in the back of his throat, “But I do think Kira would punish him for ignoring me. I know I would.”
“I don’t think that’s something to warrant death, Misa,” Light rolled his eyes, “I’m serious. I’m busy.”
“You’re no fun,” Misa dug in the bag and dropped the contents of the bag onto his keyboard. A new set of underwear in leather and lace with little pearls along the trim. Very on brand for someone like Misa, “That’s what you’re missing out on.”
“Is it?” Light hardly even budged. But he knew how to work Misa, “Why don’t you take it and put it on for me upstairs? I’ll be up soon to see it.”
“Ok!” Misa grabbed her bra and panties and ran upstairs with them.
“Light,” L wondered, “Why do I have that feeling you’re not going to be up soon to see it?”
“Hopefully, she’ll pass out before I get up there,” Light went back to his work, “I have better things to worry about than to keep Misa happy. She’ll understand one day and I’m sure she’ll get over it.”
“Maybe.” I doubt it, but who am I to stop Light from dreaming? Still, I could’ve sworn he said something about his principles and his respect for women, “Then again, this is Misa we’re talking about.”
“She’ll be fine,” Light settled him, “Can we get back to work now please? The last thing we need to talk about right now is my love life. Or whatever fantasies Misa’s got cooked up in her head.”
“Couldn’t have said it better myself.” Still, I might not be the one dating her, but this seems wrong. Not necessarily out of character for Light, but Misa deserves better.
The next two hours go by and Light decided to call it a night. When he finally went upstairs, Light walked into his apartment and took a quick glance around. Things were quiet. And Light was ok with that. In fact, it brought him a strange sense of peace. Good. Misa didn’t handcuff herself to the knife drawer. Again. I really didn’t need to call the fire department. Again. Light walked into his bathroom, took a quick shower, and started heading for bed. However, when he got out of the shower, the clothes he brought with him that he could’ve sworn were on the toilet seat were gone. The hell…?
“Light…” a soft, gentle voice floated in from Light’s bed, “Come here, my darling.”
Light held his face in his hands. Of course. Of course, it’d be her. Because personal space doesn’t exist. Because boundaries aren’t a thing with us. Because apparently, we’re fucking dating, “Misa, where are my clothes?”
“Where are my last two hours?” Misa’s tongue was much sharper than Light gave her credit for, “Get in here.”
“Excuse me?” Light wasn’t sure what to think of Misa’s sudden attitude. But he wasn’t a fan. She can’t seriously be pissed at me. There’s no way. All I have to do is fake a little sweetness and she’ll be back to normal. She can do her little temper tantrum some other time.
“You heard me,” Misa stood her ground, “Get in the bedroom. Now.”
Light sucked it up and wrapped himself in one of the towels hanging on the rack, “What do you want, Mi…Oh…”
Misa stretched herself out on Light’s bed, her black leather and lace number on and a fire in her eyes, “You bet your ass, oh. I’ve been waiting for you for the last two. Fucking. Hours. You’ll be up here soon. The fuck you will!”
“Misa,” Light shook his head, “Please. It’s been a long day. I just want to go to bed. Now, where did you-”
SLAP!
Misa’s hand whipped across Light’s face, catching Light entirely by surprise. In more ways than one, “No! I don’t care if it’s been a long day. I wanted one thing, Light. I wanted your ass up here. I wanted you stripped down and bare like the little whore you are for me, and I wanted to ride your sad excuse for a dick into the sunset. But no. Instead, you decided to stay with Ryuzaki and work.”
“Misa…”
“What?” Misa’s tirade went on. As it should, “Am I not good enough for you now?”
“Misa…”
“Should I go and get Ryuzaki?” Misa suggested, “Because if I didn’t know any better, you’d rather fuck him than me anyway!”
“What?” Light squeaked, “No! Misa, that’s not-”
“Oh, cut the bullshit, Light,” Misa got up from the bed and grabbed Light by the wrist, “Come on.”
“Where are we going?” Light scrambled on his feet to keep up with her, “At least let me put some-”
“No,” Misa kept on moving, “If you’re going to choose Ryuzaki over me, why not hand fucking deliver you to his front door? I’m sure that’s how he wants you anyway.”
“Misa…” Light knew fighting fire with fire was not an option with Misa. Adding any more fire to the equation would lead to task force headquarters being swallowed by hell. So, he did his best to keep as calm as he could, “You’re not thinking straight.”
“Neither are you,” Misa threw the door open and threw Light into the hallway, “Go on. Go get him! You clearly want him more than me. For your sake, let’s just hope he’s not allergic to shrimp!”
“Misa!” Light walked back into his apartment and put his hands on Misa’s shoulders, hoping it’d be enough to ground her, “Look, I’m sorry, ok? I didn’t realize I was gone that long. I thought it was only about half an hour, max.”
“That’s not the first time you screwed up how long something was,” Misa grumbled.
“I know I screwed up,” Light went on, telling Misa everything she wanted to hear, “Come on. Let’s go to bed and we can talk about this in the morning, ok?”
Misa took a good, deep breath, calming herself down, “Ok.”
“Thank you,” Light pressed a little kiss to her forehead, “Come on. I’ll walk you back to your room.”
“Excuse me?” Misa shot him a glare, “You not only stand me up, but you’re kicking me out?”
“I told you, Misa,” Light reiterated, “It’s been a-”
“Bedroom,” Misa growled, “Your bed. Now.”
“But I-”
“Your. Bed. Now.” Misa’s eyes started glowing. And it may or may not have frightened Light a bit.
The next morning, L sat at the monitors with a cup of coffee while the task force divvied up what needed to be done. Only one member was missing. However, it wasn’t long before Light came down the stairs with an unexpected limp. L spun around in his chair, letting out a quiet sigh of relief, “Good morning, Light.”
“Mmm…” Light carefully walked over to his chair and gently lowered himself into it, “Ow…Ow…Ow…”
“Wow, Light,” Aizawa gasped, “You look like hell. Rough night?”
“Yeah,” Light’s cheeks went flush, “You could say that.”
“Are you going to be ok?” Soichiro worried, “You look like you’re about to be sick.”
“No,” Light shot him down, “I’ll be fine, Dad. Really.”
“Alright,” Soichiro backed off, but a part of him still worried about his son.
“Light,” L pulled his chair a little closer. He made sure to keep his voice down, “Are you sure you’re ok?”
“Yeah,” Light nodded, his entire world spinning with it, “I will be anyway.”
“That’s good to hear,” L dropped another cube of sugar into his coffee, “You do realize I’m a horrible insomniac, right?”
“Yeah,” Light looked at him strangely, “That’s common knowledge.”
“You also realize,” L smirked a bit, “I can see anything going on in this building at any time, right?”
“Ryuzaki,” Light laid his head on the desk, hiding his face in shame, “Please tell me…”
“The whole thing.”
Fuck.
