If you're still doing the character bingo, Bison Billie, Nate Janssen, and Lilith Capellinaga?
yeaaah absolutely :D im a little too tired to do my full explanations i tend to with character bingo but i will say. this board really makes me laugh because of the strong divide between positive (bottom of board) and negative (top of board) squares. usually theyre a little more evenly spread across a board but not this one XD

Celebrating the end of Oxventure Presents: Blades in the Dark.
With the finale bringing everything to a close, I desperately want more, but I think this was the perfect way to end.
A toast to the Hobby Horses!

So I was talking about this...thing? Headcanon? Idea? with @a-casual-egg for the oxventure blades in the dark crew based around the idea that Kasimir at some point learned to play the piano and can sing really well in a sort of rich baritone tone
and anyway heres another vague skeleton for a fic that I’m never gonna write but i need to take down the ideas for
So Eleanor’s Largely Legal Antiques has a rollable baby grand piano in the back that hasn’t been sold yet because it’s very expensive and slightly out of tune. But anyway, at some point, Kasimir and Edvard wheel it into the back, re-tune it, fix it up a bit.
One Saturday night, 9 o’clock, a day when Barnaby doesn’t feel like going out drinking or gambling and is just nursing a tonic and gin and Edvard’s just sent out a patent for his latest invention and Zillah is recovering from a session training a couple of the younger cutters and Lilith only has 15 more papers to go through concerning a new occurrence in ghostly academia they’re all hanging out in the back room late at night drinking and talking.
Kasimir gets up during a lull in the conversation and walks over to the piano and starts playing Piano Man, and sings the lyrics as well in a gorgeous rich baritone voice because why the heck not? And everyone just goes silent for this as he starts playing the piano and singing, because they didn’t expect Kasimir for all his gruff mannerisms to be able to sing so well, let alone play the piano.
And as everyone sways slightly with the music and Kasimir reaches the chorus a slightly drunk Edvard gets up and grabs Barnaby’s hand seemingly out of nowhere and pulls him into a slow dance, slightly awkward because it’s been a while since Edvard has danced and Barnaby is far too stiff and nervous, but eventually they both relax and no matter how many times Edvard accidentally steps on Barnaby’s toes they’re dancing in a pleasing sway to the melody.
Kasimir’s singing is the perfect mix of strong and soft, heartfelt with his love for Zillah and Edvard and Barnaby and Lilith as well as mourning the deaths of those he previously worked beside during heists, the people who had become infinitely important to him, people he considered as siblings and even children and yet he saw die in front of his eyes, some of them shot or slashed down without a second thought and some of them being executed, his plans to save them having failed. He remembers the fallen, and feels grief and guilt and sadness almost consume him, before he reins it back, tears pricking at the corners of his eyes, and for the thousandth time mouths a silent promise to the dead that they would never be forgotten.
Zillah is leaning back on a chair, legs propped up on a table and nursing bruised ribs and what may be a fractured ankle watching Kasimir sing and play the piano and Barnaby and Edvard dance along with the music, and it harkens back to a different time for her, not dissimilar to this one, nights spent with fellow cutters and close friends in pubs after an evening’s worth of prize fights, when they would buy drinks and sing and dance to the music of whoever was singing or playing the instrument that night and laugh and make merry. Zillah wonders where all these people are now, and despite not fully believing in the existence of a god or gods sends out a quick prayer for their safety and well-being.
Lilith, surrounded by academic papers on the newest discovery, hunched tensely over one of these papers attempting to read by candlelight, glances up out of her concentration and sees all this happening. She’s...confused for a second, last time she paid attention to the conversation everyone was arguing about smoked salmon. She catches Zillah’s eye, looks confused, and Zillah motions to the boys dancing, just in time for Lilith to witness Edvard step on Barnaby’s foot unexpectedly hard and Barnaby letting out a yelp in pain. Both Zillah and Lilith collapse into laughter at that, and Lilith hears Kasimir’s smile through his singing. She recomposes herself, sighs, and for the first time in years after she started her Ph. D her shoulders drop, slightly less tense than before, and she lets herself relax. She is among friends, safe, content, and comfortable. It’s not something she had felt in a long time.
And as Kasimir’s voice drops off at the end of the song he just plays the piano and Edvard steps on Barnaby’s toes one too many times and what was once dancing evolves into a game of step-on-your-partner’s-toes and Zillah walks up to Lilith, takes the paper out of her hand and replaces it with a drink.
Kasimir leans on the damper pedal slightly too hard and feels the joints in his bad leg creak, a reminder of his mortality and the chance that, soon enough, he will once again meet all those who died heisting beside him.
He watches the ragtag group of a rich businessman, a former prize fighter, an inventor fallen on hard times, and a woman who communes with ghosts, before him, all of whom he would protect with his life, and swears on all the powers above that he will not let these people die like he let others so many times before.

Oxventure furry hcs bc it's fun to imagine (Egbert, Rust, Silas, and Garnet are excluded from this bc they're either already animals (Egbert and Rust) or I just can't seem them as furries (Silas and Garnet))
Corazón: white cat (is still a pirate but white cat for some kind of elegance)
Merilwen: brown cat
Prudence: black wolf (that's very magical)
Dob: Golden Retriever or Sheepdog (wolf is an option bc of his backstory, but he just has big dog vibes)
Kasimir: Saint Bernard
Edvard: rat/mouse (lab rat)
Lilith: big snake
Zillah: sheep or ram
Barnaby: Borzoi or Afghan Hound (essentially a fancy looking dog with a long snout)
Billie: Bison (was there any other option? (Sarcasm))
Edie: fox
Nate: herding dog
Delacy: cool wolf or coyote with like glowing eyes
