I, myself, uh... Don't care for it. I don't really look for it and I don't go out of my way for it. If it appears, it appears. I personally don't ship it. I can see why people do but I don't because I know in Chinese culture it is uh... It's kind of weird to ship them together.

It's mainly why Shadowpeach won't be happening in A Seer of Secrets. The most, they'll be best friends! At the least, they'll be rivals! The worst is them being enemies constantly butting heads for Reader's hand in... a relationship. Marriage? Idk!

Helloo~ I was bored in class one day so I thought "why not do an art study of the artists I like" except it incredibly scuffed and I really just looked at a bunch of art on their page and i tried my best to replicate one of em

What I noticed first while sketching is ofc the super gorgeous cute style. Though not long into the sketching phase noticed her lines are quite sharp and pronouced, for most of her works she keeps her sketch lines making it seem more mmm hazy is the right word? Or effortless, but with every sharp line a rounded(?) line contrasts it, giving it that signature fluffiness. I absolutely adore how well this all mixes together, i dunno just sonethin bout her lines bro

I love the expression, really gives off absolutely love sick, I didn't capture the eyes quite well (I blame my chonk pen because all good artists blames their materials/j) Macaque looks more scared than breath taken and I put the eyes too far apart. I basically deprived the eyes of its soul lmao note for next time I do a study.

Ok this part has not much to do with the ref pic but her art in general and that includes her writing. I adore the cute HCs and little stories/AUs she would post, just so much creativity and its always so comforting to read as theyre so wholesome and cute. Im so sure one of my first posts here were a drawing of one of her HCs LIKE SRSLY SO CREATIVE. I was also surprised as I saw in some artworks she's able to draw structures and environments that draws your into the scene, its fits the universe so well, just adding to that little wonderment of awe. Shes amazing at coloring too, real soft, but still makes the characters pop, i'd say more but my brain is short-circuiting from all this analyzing. Shes just all round incredibly talented and creative honestly. Her style is exactly what i wanted to have as a kid and what im striving to have now. So cuteee

So far 11/10 art style, love the chibiness, cuteness, expressions, the pure and pastel feel and colors, and details. Just love her in general<3 check out her page lol

Ok so immediately off the bat I knew I was gonna have some trouble here since I've been drawing chibis from the very start.

Just from observing her art I alr saw it has a lot of movement in em, lots of dynamic poses, and LOTS of embraces, really just pouring with that fluff/angst energy. At first I tried the anime body guidelines and boom instant error. Though not all that noticable the heads have sum chonk in em, especially the cheeks, giving that cute factor despite not being a chibi style. Im all for it. The lines are very soft, not a lot of sharp edges and if there are theyre placed in a very subtle way. The expressions are wonderful: from a subtle hopeless smile from an overwhelming roar of grief and anger, she's mastered the the art of slight details that give these effects their magic. Her lines are sketchy but not messy (does that make sense) they clump together neatly, giving the illustration clarity.

AND OMG HAVE YOU SEEN HER ANIMATICS? THE MOVEMENT, THE PACING, THE SMOOTHNESS, THE INTERACTIONS, THE EMOTIONS, THE EVERYTHING. THEYRE SO AAAA ITS LIKE A PROFESSIONAL STORYBOARD FOR A TV SHOW.

The way she uses color too— just o h m y g o d .

Her colors are so bright and clear, so nicely blended together, so bold, but not in the way that burns your eyes, she keeps them neutral in a way, that envokes that sense of harmony; like a sunset. (I legit have one of her colored artworks as my wallpaper) I have lots more to observe, but so far this is all I have to say. The skill of overflowing

Anways, back to the task at hand. I made the heads bigger than i shoulda , cause well chibi artist ehe. Again, I blame my chonk pencil. I didn't get the embrace quite right, but Ion think I could level with the queen of LITERALLY DRAWING TEARJERKING HUGS LIKE? I tried with the hands, I swear. I knew they were a little small but only now am I realizing its that way cause I made the heads too big. I wanna try drawing more in her style as its really just full of movement and flowiness, I wanna try mastering the way she draws perspectives too. I noticed for perspective shots theres this grid for the sky and ground (which is genius) will try that out when I actually pick up digital art again.

So about the LMK AU i keep mentioning....

Have a headshot doodle of ESAU!Macaque. c:

Drew the lines on paper at work, which is why the lines and background look scuffed, but eh. Same with the upcoming ESAU!Wukong headshot doodle and ESAU!Nezha... Keep in mind, some parts of their looks may still change, but I'm pretty happy with how Macaque turned out in concept.

Not gonna reveal what the ESAU stands for yet, or well at least the ES part since AU is just for the usual AU... Will reveal the full name once I figure out how to do ESAU!Nezha's headshot doodle cuz the scaling got a lot more scuffed fdhgnfdhghfdg

Oh yeah, but the AU is technically at its core an X Reader... But in a rather questionable way that I actually found too interesting of an idea concept to throw off the brainstorm pile... (That's why this is tagged as X Reader for anyone wondering. The X Reader part will become a lot more noticeable once I go into the lore portion of the AU. I find the concept of the Reader in this both fascinating and cute, but also... uniquely and flatteringly odd.)

Oh of course!! Oh my gosh thank you! I’m happy to explain cause I can see why it’s confusing. I was the same way~

Alrighty! Many of the LMK have second names a lot of people refer to them by because this is their name in the Chinese mandarin dub.

(Note, in China the Surnames comes first)

MK in the Chinese dub is Qi Xiaotian. (Personally since we never learn MK’s “real name” in the shows English version, I believe this to be MK’s real name as well and so do a lot of others in the fandom)

Mei is Long Xiaojiao. I don’t use this version of her name because I prefer to call her Ao Mei off of her Great great something Grandpa Ao Lie~

Six Eared Macaque is Liu’er Mihou (basically just a straight translation of “Six eared Macaque”) I often use “Mihou” if someone is closer or more intimate with Macaque.

Sun Wukong/Monkey King is Sun Wukong/Monkey King in both. But let’s be honest, this guy has SO many names and translations of his name in all forms of media so probably best to keep it simple. 😆

Princess Iron Fan is Tie Shan Gongzhu! I like using Princess Iron Fan more as her title and those truly close to her are allowed to call her Gongzhu. Like Macaque for instance. I head cannon them both as sworn siblings, though in truth, I’ve never seen them talk in the canon show xD

And that is just a few. Every character has their own little variation of their name in the Chinese dub. I don’t personally use all of them but I like the few I listed above the most! :)

The AU is still on-going though it's closer to say that it went on an unexpected hiatus due to me making the mistake of watching a Lego Monkie Kid compilation of Macaque (and from there lmk has sunken its claws into me and has refused to let go dhshsj)

I had planned for the next page to be out before the end of January...you can see how that went given that it's now the middle of March lmao

I have the next two pages sketched and planned out, I just haven't gotten to finishing it due to my own silliness lol

But now that Season 4 of LMK is out, I can get back to working on the comic, hopefully sooner rather than later. I just gotta re-teach myself how to draw sonic characters again first.

Also, for those who don't know, reason I chose to make a comic for my Sonic Boom AU specifically, rather than any other AU, is because it's one of those interests I ALWAYS come circling back to. I tried to do a comic with Mao Mao, but I ended up losing interest in the show eventually.

The au comic is also meant to be practice for myself for storytelling through comics since one of my series, The Gift from Paradise, might become a web comic series down the line in the distant future. Also, I have a full time job on top of everything (and planning to start college in a couple months lol)

So yeah, the ShadowLight AU is still happening, just VERY VEEEERRRY slowly because I am an absolute fool. I wouldn't keep too close of an eye on it for now.

BUT when I am closer to finishing the pages, I'll make a post announcing a rough estimate of when they'll be posted.

Ngl if someone were to ask me how I got into lmk it would be the most bizzare way possible...I think?

The reason for how I got into lmk is because I used to have tiktok and I saw an edit

with the most popular macaque voiceline that he said at season 1 episode 10

And since I heard the audio way too many times in edits, videos and even in other fandoms I used to be in so I had no other choice but to dig deeper to this voiceline that got everyone hyped

( well I got also hyped thats why I searched for it )

once the audio kinda died out I stumbled across a lmk edit and heard macaque's voiceline again and I saw the video had this hashtag #monkie kid, so I digged even deeper. this is the time I got twitter and by that time I kept on watching alot of lmk edits and not knowing about the characters that much and once I typed in monkie kid on the twitter search I saw alot of art and I just looked at alot of lmk art, I once saw a tweet from someone

And it said that they were giving out google links of the lmk series ( season 1-3 ) and I had to ask them and so I did, once I did they were very nice and they gave me a instruction on how to watch them accordingly and once I pressed the link and thanked them I finally got to watch the series for the first time

More Monkie Kid HC’s

I have absolutely nothing else to do then to debate things that could exist in an alternate universes with these ppl

-I saw a piece of fan art and I agree 100%, since Wu Kong’s staff is actually just a column from The Dragon of The East’s palace, he definitely knows how to pole dance. He’s got the strength of it and he’s a monkey so it’s obvious that he knows how to climb shit. 

It’s just funny though since just because The Monkey King knows how to pole dance doesn’t mean he’s good at it, usually he’s just good at the acrobatics, the flow and calculated spins don’t really qualify as entertaining stuff in his books lmao

-MK is absolutely obsessed w/ space. At first he was only into his normal animal zodiac (monkey obv- also I’m so sad we don’t know literally any of the character’s birthdays RIP) but after he started using the internet more in his free time- he had time to browse the internet almost everyday but now he’s got so much shit to do- he found out that there’s European Zodiacs too, and got into those as well.

He’s got all his signs figured out, he makes AND takes those personality tests based off of your zodiac. One day he was fighting Red Son, took one look at him and was like “Yeah, you’d totally be an Aries  🙄”

Mei wouldn’t stop laughing for a week lmao

-Trans MK is basically cannon at this point, but training with Macaque bak in season 1 fully cemented MK’s experience as being treated as his gender but STEREOTYPED

This sounds way worse then I typed is as, but basically during his training with Macaque MK essentially was being encouraged to indulge in everything ‘a man’ does, like focus on power and strength over literally anything else, and ‘take charge’ and all that.

And while stereotypes usually piss him off, it was an eye opening experience per say cuz after the whole ordeal MK reflected on how most male assholes were encouraging themselves to act like they’re better then everyone on the planet. While for himself, MK had to actually have someone tell him that in order to become better at fighting he needs to embrace his ‘manliness’.

Eventually that’s one of the reasons why Macaque complimenting his fighting was so shocking and meaningful, since it approves the effort MK was making to pass all that time ago. (Now he’s more comfortable with masc and fem presenting whereas before he got dysphoria). Also imagine being the literal enemy and gender affirming your student because they’re genuinely doing well in something, Macaque did at least ONE thing correctly lmao

-After encountering LBD and everyone piling on the ship it wasn’t a secret that everyone was stressed out especially after Macaque tried to attack them (let’s assume for the sake of the argument that they managed to fend him off without capsizing the ship LMAo).

But MK started to notice how weary Wu Kong was of accepting anything. Like- if someone offered him food he could come up with a random excuse, if he was cold and someone offered him a blanket he’d just make his own, etc. 

Obviously MK’s super heartbroken because of this and also vaguely curious so one day he asks Wu Kong what’s up, and after a lot of prodding, MK rounded up everyone and the Monkey King told them about how traumatizing and terrible the stupid fucking circlet was in JTTW. 

^I’m making a whole post about this rn but HOLY SHIT I hate that goddamn circlet.

Wu Kong explains how he trusted Tripitaka (after glancing cautiously at Tang) and how he actually felt so betrayed when the circlet started to hurt. Also how close the happen stances were that after the JTTW gang saw the bone spirit for the first time Wu Kong got punished twice just for trying to protect everyone. (With influence from Zhu Ba Jie obv)

-Fighting some big demon eventually caused everyone to wait in this random room completely silent (like I’m talking everyone, Iron Fan, DBK, Macaque, Jin and Yin, etc.)

And it was super awkward so MK takes out his phone and you hear this dumbass fucking noise

Mei who instantly understood the assignment ALSO pulls out her phone and after the sound plays a second time Red son very loudly claims

“The world is about to fucking end and you guys are playing fucking Clash Royal?”

To which Jin and Yin EXPLODE with laughter and Red Son has to hastily explain this stupid ass American mobile game to all the deities and adults in the room that have no idea what the hell is going on.

Wu Kong downloads the game so he can beat MK cuz he’s competitive like that (and subsequently gets mad when they don't have a character base off of him and claims he will be sending a letter to the devs about it LMAO)

.

-After trying to lift the staff in the pilot Red Son took pity on the bull clone that lost its arms and made it have a nice and safe life as his personal servant (it’s way better than risking its robotic life everyday)

.

-MK gets handed a cup of coffee in the morning and is like “Oh awesome, thanks!”

And then heads to the cupboard to get his straw.

If he eats soft serve ice cream MK will also refuse to eat it unless he uses his straw. The reason why I say ‘his’ straw is because MK always carries a collapsable metal straw with him. He’s built DIFFERENT bro

.

-In an AU where everyone’s on the airship and Macaque redemption arc is happening, Macaque and Wu Kong constantly switch glamours as each other whenever they don’t have the energy to do something.

Wu Kong has to sit through a lecture with Sandy, and Macaque has nothing else to do? Switch

Macaque is about to get ambushed by MK because he won’t stop asking by about his ears? Cashing in the favour, switch

It even happens for menial chores like washing dishes and doing the laundry and since they treat their switching as a reward/token system it’s like

“Macaque you get to do my turn in laundry, I’m cashing in my switch”

“Wha- no the fuck you’re not, it’s MY turn and I’m saving mine, bitch”

“Uhhh haha very funny, no it’s not I was keeping count dude-“

“Wu Kong don’t even try it I literally have the calendar right here and it says: Last switch- Macaque as Wu Kong hid from Mei and Red Son after he stole their chips,”

“Hmmm okay you make a compelling argument, HOWEVER- and hear me out here: how about you do it anyway” And then he ran off glamoured as Macaque.

“MONKEY KING ITS YOUR TURN TO DO THE LAUNDRY I WILL NOT HESITATE TO SET YOU ASS ON FIRE IF YOU DONT” -Red Son

“Gods fucking damnit peaches I’m going to kill you,”

-When MK fights demons he often ends up rambling about whatever he can think about in order to organize his thoughts, balance stress/nervousness, and in general throw off the enemy. This leads to some... interesting interactions w/ them lmao.

Red Son (we’re considering Spicynoodles cannon bois) finds this endearing but also extremly annoying. Especially while he’s trying to chase MK down he can’t stop hearing 

“Okay so yeah anyway as I was saying, there was this moment where he actually tries to kill himself but in a moment of- OH SHIT THAT’S HOT STOP TRYING TO SHOOT FIRE AT ME DUDE- in a moment of realization that he was being manipulated he jumps into a lake instead of hitting the ground-”

So... that’s something

-Extension to that: the only demon that does something other than try and kill him whenever he starts rambling is Macaque. Which sounds weird, but considering that back when Macaque and Wu Kong were still friends he would do this all the time, Macaque actually indulges MK in his ramblings. 

Like MK would start talking about the plot of some movie he saw the other day- mention sponges and Macaque would be like 

“Y’know kid it’s literally the weirdest thing that you humans use dead plants as a way to- what clean dishes? I mean just use a cloth it’s not that hard. Apparently sponges used to be made from coral I heard over the TV a couple days ago-”

“WHAT? Nuh-uh you’re lying we don’t use coral for sponges- AH DUDE CHILL OUT YOU ALMOST CRUSHED MY SKULL THAT TIME!”

“Oops, too bad I was a few centimeters off- anyway yeah I didn’t believe it earlier but if I think about it back in the old days we used to use moss all the time to get a cloth wet in order to wash shit since it stores water well so it wouldn’t be that far off-”

-Extra extra to this: one day Wu Kong stumbles into one of MK and Macque’s fights since he was in the area and all- and hears them hotly debating the credibility of some of Wu Kong’s adventures.

Mk while running for his actual LIFE:

“Okay I hear what you’re saying Macaque, but there is NO WAY Monkey King ate through those clothes that quickly! They would’ve opened the box already-“

Macaque while scanning the rubble to look for MK:

“Kid you have no idea what you’re talking about: I was THERE, dude. I was right there when it happened-“

Mk: “NUH UH that’s not in any of the books!”

Macaque: “YOU THINK SOME RANDOM HISTORIAN KNOWS I WAS STALKING THE GROUP AT THAT TIME!?”

Wu Kong: “You were WHAT”

Etc.

-Another one where everyone’s on the ship:

Sandy made a playlist that’s HUGE and plays it on shuffle on the speakers everyday. Usually it’s a bunch of like- 80′s music- idk how to describe it except for music you’d listen to while smoking a cigarette while it’s raining and looking out your window

Basically I’m aiming to say it’s really chill music

Anyways when this song comes on both Macaque and Wu Kong happen to be on the deck at the same time, and they ended up sitting down and reminiscing on all types of stupid shit they did in the past. 

It eventually became a ritual so whenever they hear the beginning of the song they drop everything they’re doing and make a beeline for they’re spot on the very edge of the ship so they can be only deities and brag about

“OH MY GODS remember back in the old days how-”

“Haha ‘back in the old days’- you sound like an old man, Peaches”

“Shut the hell up, Macaque I do not,”

“Uh huh, whatever helps you sleep at night 姥爷 ”

(姥爷 is basically saying old grandpa- a double insult to Wu Kong’s age in this context lol)

-Macaque really wanted to learn how to play an instrument at some point because he saw the weird human thing make noise (that slightly bothered him because of his sensitive hearing but he brushed it off-) and wanted to try it.

The first thing he ever picked up was a bell. 

The attempt ended with him curled up on the ground clutching his ears to just stop the ringing- he threw away the blasted copper piece of trash why were his ears still ringing?

He tried again with a Guqin since it makes an actual melody instead of being a percussion instrument but..,,,

He plucked a single string and feeling the vibration along with the intense sound overwhelmed him and he had to jump away from the thing to keep himself from throwing it across the field.

Yeah, Macaque stays away from instruments even though he actually was interested in learning how to use one.

-If you take this into account s3e8 is just so much sadder *cries*

Idk this is just the only thing I can think of because dad wukong lives in my head rent free

OH?? I THINK IT’S TIME FOR A SUN-KID ROUNDUP! (SUN-KID ROUNDUP!)

Nezha This is simple: from the way that the two of them were already close in their younger years as gods, the two of them managed to form a bond via trying to behave like normal humans, snickering when they got away with things that a normal person wouldn’t be able to do or managing to eat a plate of ghost peppers without their immune systems dying after thirty minutes. They actually also bond with animals; they’re both very affectionate with their pets and often end up convincing the other to foster certain animals when they know they don’t have the space for another permanent resident in their homes. Nezha convinced Wukong to get him a bunny, his own cat and a cow. Wukong kept a lamb, another cat and his two chickens. They both love each other’s pets though and absolutely send each other videos and pictures of cute animals in the groupchat. Spamming it all day.

Xiaotian A little difficult but: Singing. Consider this: Sun Wukong’s mandarin VA was the one who sung the Song of Wine and MK seems to be the type of guy who sings old 90s songs mixed in with the most recent remix of a popular song all jumbled together in the midst of training, studying or cleaning. Wukong will be on the other side of the house, humming quietly and then MK will chime in, poking his head through the door and go, “But now it isn’t true, and everything is new.”

And Wukong will pause and then go, “And all I’ve learned has overturned, I beg of you.”

And both of them will belt out, off-key or in-tune, “DON’T GO WASTING YOUR EM-O-TION! LAY ALL YOUR LOVE ON ME!”

They also go “adventuring” together and do crafts; Sun Wukong teaches MK how to do paper figurines and then MK teaches Wukong how to use watercolors and chalk to draw on the mountain sides and pavements to decorate the temple grounds. They’ll get paint on their faces and blotches of ink on their clothes but they don’t mind it since, in the end, the tapestries they painted are beautiful and messy and perfect with all their little imperfections.

Their connection is through the form of various arts and I think that’s beautiful all things considered.

Xiaojiao “How does it feel to be beaten by your old man?”

“I wouldn’t know,” hums Xiaojiao, picking up her remote controller, “I haven’t been beaten yet.”

Video games is a given; Wukong has his own goddamn video game after all and it’s even hinted that he made it in a way so that means that, somehow, the fucker knows how to program. Xiaojiao has a hard time focusing on one task unless she’s really into it, so when she picks up a favorite game it’s hard for her to put it down when she’s already into level fifty or so, thus Sun Wukong simply joins her and only pauses for breaks, stretches and eating food and sleeping.

He also enjoys teaching her how to dance of all things; the girl has had so many types of “formal” dancing lessons when she lived with her parents so for her to witness Wukong do something that isn’t used for grand parties and galas? She’s intrigued and then joyous at the end of it, hair a mess and out of breath as the music continues to play in the background as she holds her dad’s hands and is spun around wildly to the beat of the soundtrack.

Bai He Not yet; but it’d be really quiet forms of bonding. She gets stressed easily and has a hard time connecting to people because of this (Macaque and Tang are rlly the only people she fully trusts even after befriending MK and Mei); so she’s pleasantly surprised when Wukong takes her out to a meadow overlooking a river that leads to the city and lays down on the warm grass to sunbathe. She joins him and looks over curiously to which he says, “Close your eyes and listen,” and when she does, she listens to the birds chirping and the river flowing, the way the city’s nothing more than a distant hum in the background—it’s nice and they do it often when it’s his weekend time with her.
