well here's my full season 5 (nezha edition) rant bc what did i just watch

obvious spoilers 💀

what the fuck was that

blah blah animation, blah blah main character sacrifice, wowee

first off, the mechs?? yeah, i know it's just product placement, and i've never actually liked the concept. in a world of mythology and magic, something to technological belongs in a sci-fi movie, not among gods. and in season 5 especially, they feel *so* out of place. the only people who end up actually using their mech are nezha (twice) and mei (once.) i can't be mad at mei, since yeah it's just one time to have an epic moment and goes away after that, but it's nezha that i'm mad about. that standoff at the festival? okay, product placement, epic moment, never brought up again. but then during the battle thing against the chaos guy??? he's the *only one* using a mech and it ticks me off. i wanna see the third lotus prince not the third lotuce mech!! i wanna see him being all badass with his staff and firewheels (like sealing off the jade emperor's power in s4)

i'm gonna be so honest, i only watched the season (and show) for nezha, as i tend to do to medias when i have a top unbeatable absolute favorite. and the show did not deliver.

tldr; nezha had so much potential and all of it went right down the drain

speaking of the power

so you're telling me that mr. "my job is super duper important and more important than my life" would take lightly to his dad going "lmao no" and just taking his seal and reinforcing it with his little magic house?

OH. THE LI JING SITUATION.

"i've always been proud of you" NO YOU HAVE NOT??? YOU HATED NEZHA SO MUCH YOU BURNT DOWN HIS TEMPLE AND LITERALLY YOU GUYS HAVE A BURNING HATRED TOWARDS EACH OTHER?????

i wanted a fucking fight scene SO BAD. SO FUCKING BAD. but noooOOOOOO you're DEFENDING YOUR BITCH DAD??? okay, i get it, power imbalance or something! give nezha a *reason* to be so buddy buddy with his dad, because he sure as hell wouldn't do it without one!!

that ties in to the whole pagoda thing, how fucking hurtful must it be for your dad, who you are far from on good terms with, to pop in, take the power you've put on your shoulders, deem you not good enough ("you got demoted!"), and push you around?? very! very very!

you do not understand what i would've done, what war crimes i would've committed in order for nezha to get some focus on HIM. specifically angst. with the shit that he went through in s3, being nerfed and having his long-term position as guardian of the map pulled out from right under him by his little friendly rival, and then *s4*, getting his ass absolutely kicked by the shit that went down with azure, being the most injured and put under the giant strain of containing the jade emperor's power, you're not gonna elaborate and give him some depth besides "big brother energy but distant and super 'regal'"?? (btw if you've ever EVER written nezha angst (or even some nezha-centric stuff in general) on ao3 i've probably read it and oh my god i love you so much for gifting it to the world, and if you read this far recs are always appreciated 😭)

actually on that note, mk is the one constantly making trauma jokes, and while i get that he's the main character, everyone's gone through shit. s5 at least kind of works with that, with mei's samadhi fire thing and wukong/macaque's death memory thing, along with pigsy's insecurity moment and sandy's little "i'm very very angry but i control myself" spiel, but like come on ☹️ (not a ruse to get nezha some angsty focus wdym)

ALSO mk breaking the seal? yk how in s4 we had that little thing where their eyes flashed and they felt the jade emperor die? i was lowkey expecting a little similar shot of nezha feeling his seal on the power break but no we needed the emotional moment 😒

i was so excited in the festival scene for nezha to go "yeah, okay, i see you", fight against his father, and join the MCG, but nooooOoo he gets sent to the celestial realm to not be seen until the end of the world

OH SPEAKING OF not nezha but red son??? what happened to the poor guy i feel so bad for red son enjoyers because he had ONE EPISODE of screen time. that's worse than us nezha fans. that little bit about the dog videos meaning help us could've so been used later, he literally joked about how this time he was invited and just. didn't show up?? there could've been such a sick moment of mei sending the dog video, and red son seeing it and coming in and being all badass with them but no he was just literally not featured again except for the 'world is ending/being saved' flash shots. (unrelated but please i want canon big brother nezha lil bro red son content those guys are Iconic)

ANYWAY it's coming to an end now, and boy oh boy

basically i have futile, naive hopes for s6 - please, PLEASE give nezha focus that lasts longer than 1-2 scenes. it literally does not have to be angsty, nor big brother energy, not even a badass moment!! just make it mechless and put the camera on *him*, and i will die a happy woman. (another badass moment, in which he wins for once, would make me cry for joy. a big brother, to literally anybody, specifically red son or mk, would make shake and snarl like a feral animal. an angsty moment would make me force the world to be puppies and rainbows. a nezha episode would make me implode and take the world with it.)

bring back li jing and do it *right*. make nezha bring up their horrible past, and at that point, i'd even settle for a corny talk-it-out session with wise words and an issue that gets resolved way too quickly, though an epic fight scene would be preferable. angst not optional, because you can't tell me that interaction would end without tears and breakdowns on nezha's end. (at this point, i'll write it myself)

LET NEZHA WIN. i do not care what he fights, who he fights, when he fights, why he fights, how he fights, let him actually cop a win for once. this fearsome general who was entrusted with guarding the samadhi map, is a protector deity, and managed to singlehandedly contain the jade emperor's power has never won a single fight within his show screen time?? bull fucking shit i tell you. stop treating this guy who carried the end of s4 like some shit side character who never gets his way, and start treating the guy right.

can you tell i'm mad about this

also ACTUAL s5 thing, not gonna lie, mk's decision is stupid. nüwa is trying to protect her creations like a good mighty goddess, and you go "erm actually me some random guy who you created to save the world and was about to do so is gonna undo all of your work and decide to make my own path and simultaneously create a massive crisis where i not only flip normal on its ass and give everyone magic but also potentially unleash the same cosmis horror you're protecting us from"

i'm kinda curious about this new magic tho... (pls have a negative effect or some sort of effect) (pls let nezha win)

Learning how to use Clip Studio and Tumblr all at once slay </3 Okay I have to ramble about their characters though like omggg forgive the block of text

Anyway more progress on the Macaque and SWK sketches, I love their designs in the show and I've been thinking a lot about the way they're styled. Especially since one of the biggest challenges I can think of when it comes to a show about literal legos is that the character models are very samey, of course.

Also, SWK and Macaque have a particularly interesting challenge, with both being demon monkey guys. Aside from the obvious color palette change (they share similar yellow, red, and black just inverted though which I delusionally associate with their soul mate-level connection to one another) some of my favorite character differences is their eyes??? Like, from Macaques down turned lashes to Sun Wukongs upturned lashes? There's also sharper shapes used in Macaques design versus the roundish lines used in SWK's design which is a popular way of distinguishing "bad" from "good" or in this case, to just make Macaque look edgy and disheveled compared to the more put together SWK.

Like from his brows, his makeup, his frayed cloak, he just has such trademark bad-boy qualities. It's really simple but it's really effective in distinguishing their designs aside from just a color swap.

I think it's also a cool way to establish their personalities. Ironically Macaque, despite coming across as deceptive, is often a lot more honest to Mk and his friends than Sun Wukong is. Which subverts the initial impression of his design. Speaking of which, Sun Wukong's design is just so cute? The rounded lines that make up his design feed the impression that he's trustworthy. A confident, good-natured mentor who's gotten past all his wild youthful exploits (he's literally committed several war crimes) and is just trying to pave a good path for MK. And while he definitely cares for MK and really does want him to succeed, gah damn, he is a hot mess. My favorite part is that Macaque at least acknowledges he's got issues, but Sun Wukong is just in complete denial but that's a whole different post.

Anyways I love the details that their character designs are subversive to their real personalities. Like even MK states it outright to Macaque that he's really not the bad boy loner he makes himself out to be, its all a facade and most likely a response to the several times he's been just screwed over by Sun Wukong

Interestingly enough, Sun Wukong has a whole arc about how he's a really bad mentor, an untrustworthy dude, and kind of downright manipulative when it comes to using his persona to put himself in positions of leadership. Though I don't think he does it out of malice, more just recklessness. The chill mentor vibe (giving Gojo energy tbh) even gets challenged in season one by Macaque after he mentions that the Real Sun Wukong would have destroyed a whole mountain range just to win a fight. And like, if you know anything about what Sun Wukong is like in JTTW, bro has zero chill.

Also, they're like perfect foils and it's my favorite thing. Macaque showcasing himself as violet and SWK as golden in his shadow play was a great use of complimentary colors. Anyway, rant over, I love it when character designs are made to be cohesive with each other </333

Will the jade emperor (not from your jade prince au) ever meet a MK from your other AU‘s such as abandoned prince ? Imagine him wanting to punish MK or lock him away after he committed crimes while being under the control of LBD. Or he sees MK as a threat. Lock Mk away ? Kill him ? Make him a slave/weapon to the celestial realm ?

I could see a lot of people getting angry at the jade emperor 👀 Not just the monkey parents but a certain uncly Lion

Let's just say that the Au where there are more possibilities where the Jade Emperor would want to attack MK, where there would possibly be a war or something like that would be….

hmmm this one’s hard because I’m like hardcore fixating on like 7 diffrent things and like it’s jumping really hard and fast between them (LMK,PMD, Danny phantom, Stardew valley, Streamer lore, Epiphet Erased, Epic the musical, Sonic the hedgehog, and stuff my friends and I made) I’ll put the other ones here and there in parentheses, but focusing on one main one.

📃: kid gets powers of ancient hero. MOOOONKIE KID. (The other one is getting isekaid into Pokemon not main focus but wanted to mention it)

📌: my friend showed me and i fell in love with a ship and got a bit too deep. Help. Help I’m drowning

✨: The mONKIES LOOK AT THEM GO! The tension! The drama! The complexity of the characters! TOXIC OLD MAN YAOI! FRIENDS TO ENEMIES, TO FORCED TO WORK TOGETHER TO FRIENDS AND TO LOVERS! slooow buuuurn. and the animation is cool! More tho I reeeaallly love some of the people I’ve met with this fandom

🎥: hmmmmmmmm I can’t say I have a favorite, it’s all really well done and I’ve been spoiled on a lot of the stuff

🎶: uhhhhh sadly enough haven’t gotten that far. And haven’t paid enough attention to the music (but for hollow knight, a tie between city of tears, crystal peak and fog canyon)

💕: macaque and Redson, yeah I know I know, they are really liked a lot. But sometimes villains are just really fun. Macaque I like him because he’s a broody villian as the shadow or dark opposite of another who’s desperate to not be seen as the opposite of the other, but at the same time obsessed with the other. He’s a villian as a victim of circumstance, turned ally. Don’t get me wrong he does some messed up stuff but some of my favorite characters are genuinely insane. You have to put a lot of work of keeping them balanced between crazy but not stupid and there are soooo many way to do these things. Plus he’s smart too and it’s just really fun and shadow abilities are so cool to me. As for Red, I just really like him too, I like to analyze him like a scientist picking apart something. It’s fun!

💔: mayor I guess? I haven’t been able to get myself to watch the entire show it’s a hard thing to commit to so I don’t know about him all that much. But like at the same time him and LBD are hard to hate because everyone loves when a villain is done well. And they are done well.

🏳‍🌈 MK is Bi, the monkeys are all fruity, my mind cannot be changed.

🍀 Not really? I mean I guess MK but that’s just cuz he’s really sweet. But also red, but like in a mean way, like I wanna throw him at a wall and put that man in a situation kind of way. (RICK SHADES. PLZ I LOVE HIM SO MUCH LISTEN TO EPITHET ERASED I LOVE THAT LOSER )

💎: apparently sworn brotherhoods was like the Chinese equivalent of history says they are besties! (Looking at you Achilles for prime example) also macaque monkeys apparently have the highest rate of being gay for monkeys totally weird huh?

He decided to make himself immortal to appeal more to Bajie and ended up committing several war crimes in the process. His love turned into bitter anger so by the time MK meets him, Tang wants to kill Bajie.

He gets his ass whooped by MK, Bajie and Macaque (who's terrified of him) and mostly gives up the killing quest

He starts to get closer to Bajie, then dies at some points, but he gets better, so it's fine

Parallels between Russell Adler and General Shepherd | Utilitarianism with the snake and the shepherd

As we all know, there's been some civil discourse going on in the fandom centering around the question of the morality of Adler's actions. One frequent argument I've seen done defending Adler's actions regarding MK Ultra and his handling of Bell is Utilitarianism where "the ends justify the means". Now, I could go in depth about how utilitarianism has a "superb" track record when applied to real-life military and covert matters like Guantanamo Bay and the torture going on down there along with war crimes committed by militaries throughout history. (What's a few thousand civilian casualties in order to achieve victory and national security, right?)

But I won't go in depth about that since that's already been brought up. No, I'd like to bring a different character into the fold, another example of true all-American patriotism mixed with ruthless utilitarianism where the ends justify the means.

I bring you:

General Shepherd.

I've seen people justify Adler's actions regarding brainwashing and torturing Bell through how it was a way to save the US and prevent the nukes from detonating. After all, the ends justify the means, right?

Well, just like Russell Adler, General Shepherd is a red-blooded all-American patriot who is willing to do whatever it takes for his country. General Shepherd set up WW3 in Modern Warfare 2 in order to make sure there is "no shortage of patriots ever" and "awaken" his country to the reality of war. Now, Shepherd's actions look anti-US from our perspective but not his. From Shepherd's perspective, he was pro-US and willing to do whatever it took for his country.

Similar to Shepherd, Adler did whatever it took for his country. He kidnapped an injured person at the Trabzon Airfield, not even knowing if that person was high-level in the Perseus organization to know about anything. And then he put them through terrible torture and brainwashing.

Now, General Shepherd may be a villain in the eyes of this fandom and Adler an anti-hero. But really, they're both similar. Both used the justification "the ends justify the means" for their country and "national security". They just had different goals/objectives in serving their country and national security.

Does utilitarianism still sound so appealing now as a moral argument for Adler's actions?

And this leads me to my little note on this.

If Adler and Shepherd swapped places where Adler was this old man with gray hair, wrinkles, and admittedly not attractive, would you hate him more or be as inclined to want Adler to have a redemption arc?

But these are just my thoughts.

Kingdom Fall

Word Count: 906 Drabble

In a glowing meadow of green and white lays a girl with simple beauty.

Morning dew graces the grass as the kingdom slowly awakens again. It’s nothing out of the ordinary, at least, for the majority of the kingdom.

Her presence has been kept hidden for so many years. Her reveal rattled the ones who knew her.

The people who have been affected, though not many, look at her in a different light than before. Especially for a certain Prince. Who used to be a dapper and simple girl he met at a meadow is now older, more mature. Perhaps, more than just mature. Apathetic is the correct term.

Never in a million lifetimes would he have guessed that this poor, helpless girl was turned into a war doll simply for the sake of experimentation for another kingdom. Experimentation for what, exactly? As far as the Prince is concerned, the only thing that came out of this horrid experiment was the shattered remains of what was once a splendid girl.

Now she stands before the same old meadow she has grown to love oh so long ago, but with a new pair of eyes. Her memories are fractured beyond repair. She could only pick up bits and pieces of what she used to be. What she used to know.

She never stood out. Perhaps, the only crime she has committed was the crime of falling too hard at an age too young. But even so, the inhuman punishment was far too much for any criminal known to man. The punishment of forgetting how to feel again is a wrath she knows all too well.

Oh how she missed the simpler days. Oh how she missed having the ability to laugh and cry and dance and cheer. Oh how she missed being a simple, happy girl.

And like a blooming white rose, she encased the world with the warmth of her smile.

The young man still remembers. How could he ever forget the way his entire world lit up when she smiled at him? And her laugh, beautiful like a slow song woven from the soft chirps of birds and tranquil hums of a lullaby. He could never forget.

He still recalls the days where he would dance atop of the snow-white flowers with her as they just enjoyed being children. Young, naive children who knew nothing more but each other. Maybe they both miss that naivety.

If only he could see her smile again, hear her song once more, would he ever be satisfied. But even so, it pains him to see the hurt in her elegant eyes. Maybe she wishes to smile again as well.

Oh how he wishes. He wants to be a kid again with her. He wants to discard all their ranks and status and just be dumb and happy again.

“You met me at a very strange time in my life,” she says to dual-haired Prince.

They stand above the meadow they called home eons ago, one trying to remember, one trying to reminisce.

As the petals take to the skies, their hearts fall harder and into each other’s warm arms.

Maybe this marks a new beginning. Maybe a chance to rebuild what’s left of their hearts.

Despite the long years of yearning and absence, he can still feel the raging passion of desire in his heart as he looks at the girl before him. Yes, she has changed. But yet she is still the girl he has fallen for oh so long ago. Nothing has changed. Nothing ever will.

“I still love you,” he whispers.

Against the brilliant blue sky were the words of evermore.

Oh are his eyes glazed with adoration. The youth in which they were robbed from still waltzes within their hearts. The meadow where they felt safest is still here, still golden, still special. Shouto knows that they can still dance under the silvery clouds like they were but six. Even though they’ve grown, he never stopped loving her. He never will. He hopes she never stopped either.

The meadow in which they called home still holds the essence of their happiness and awaits more of that same childish joy.

Before, their merriment was ended because this girl was forced into a position she didn’t wish to be in. She wasn’t free. Why did they have to end their waltz of youth? They were, to put it simply, pulled away from each other’s arms too soon.

Nonetheless, they were happy with each other. To others, the idea of six-year-olds being so in love is absolutely outlandish, but it was real. They were little kids who understood more than big adults.

They painted pictures no artist could fathom, wrote songs no composer could ever compare. They started fires no phoenix would dare touch, built kingdoms no king could ever rule. Against it all were the ones who didn’t believe, yet that did not stop them.

“I know,” she breathes out. “Me too.”

And she smiles. She smiles and takes his hand so they can dance across the meadow again. Except this time, they don’t need to end their waltz of youth. This time, she is free. This time, they can be dumb and happy. This time, they will stay in each other’s arms.

Against the brilliant blue sky were the words of evermore. Beside the kingdom fall were the blazing petals of ‘I love you’.

Mk so this needs some explaining. Basically, Shouto is the prince of this kingdom (no surprise) and he met the reader at this meadow when they were six. In that meadow, they were allowed to ignore all the status and ranks and they just played like kids and fell in love despite their young age. Their happiness lasted for about a year because the reader gets taken away by her parents to be a test subject for an experiment in a different kingdom. This experiment is basically trying to find out what it’s like to turn a human into a war machine. This leads to the reader losing all sense of emotions and slight amnesia. Years later, the reader and Shouto are reunited. They are now both adults and Shouto is obviously devastated by this. They visit their special meadow again and upon seeing it, feelings are triggered within the reader. Because the meadow held such fond memories, she remembers the feelings that came along with it—one of which is love. Now the reader and Shouto can be happy again without anyone stopping them.

This one was really fun to write, plus I love the small quotes I put (if any of you wanna see them as quotes) thanks for the request anon!!!!!

this might be dumb but there are a lot of DID blogs that either claim SRA isnt real or claim there is no “real evidence” of mind control experiments. while one part of me knows theyre wrong i also feel so vulnerable and susceptible to this stuff, i get so scared when people claim its not real.

The ‘Satanic Panic’ of the 1980’s caused a lot of damage to survivors as well as the FMSF (False Memory Syndrome Foundation) lead to disbelief of survivors. The media did a lot to fuel the RA panic and it did become out of control.

Those things do not negate the reality of ritual abuse. The name of ritual abuse has changed to ‘organized abuse.’ Due to the stigma of SRA from the Satanic Panic often in present court cases this portion of abuse is left out.

Also, the media doesn’t ‘run’ with ritual abuse cases anymore as they too recived a lot of backlash for their part in creating the 'Satanic Panic.“

What a lot of people seem to over look is ritual abuse most often occurs within families and very small groups. The abuse is very well hidden and often doesn’t come to light until a family member escapes. The stories of abuse by survivors seem unbelievable as people have a hard time understanding the depth of human evil.

As for mind control experiments all one has to do is google MK-Ultra, corrosive persuasion, cult indoctrination methods and information can be found. Also, looking at cults that are active and inactive cults can give a lot of information as well.

1903 Havana Cuba A girl is sacrificed as part of a ritual by a Palo Mayombe cult.The story even reached American newspapers. Like Abaqa, Palo Mayombe also practices ritual sacrifice. Sometimes members of the Abaqa cult will claim to be Paleros, so it’s possible the deed was committed by an Abaqa group.

1912 Barcelona, Spain Brujare (witch) Marti Enriqueti was condemned to death and executed for the kidnapping and killing of six local children. Eriqueti rendered down the remains of the children for use in expensive “love potions” she sold to clients. Police raided her home and found a little girl named Angelita, who would have been victim number seven. Angelia told police the witch had kidnapped her, and forced her to eat a cannibal meal consisting of the remains of a previous victim. Confronted with overwhelming evidence and the little girls testimony, Enriqueti confessed to the crimes.

1940 New Forrest, England Wiccan and Neopagan Gerald Gardner, fearful that another Neopagan, Adolph Hitler, might win World War II, begins to sacrifice members of his own coven. The oldest member is chosen to be sacrificed, using a poison . The poison was said to be “Fly Agaric”, commonly known as “Spanish Fly”, which although used as an aphrodisiac, can be lethal in large doses.

1990 Ogden, Utah - Alan B. Hadfield was convicted of sodomy and sexual abuse after his own children testified against him. Prosecution said that at “least fifteen adults and fifteen children were identified as participants in various unusual sexual activities,including instances of group abuse of children by adults. The activities described by the children involved Satanic ritual, costumes and masks, photography equipment, men dressing in women’s clothing, and frequent episodes of playing with and consuming human excrement. Alan Hadfield was released on probation in 1998. (Salt Lake City Messenger)

1990 Durango, Mexico - Police in Northern Mexico have arrested 14 people accused of belonging to a Satanic cult suspected of carrying out more than 30 human sacrifices. The authorities have begun digging up a mass grave containing victims in the Northwestern state of Durango. The cult which allegedly carried out devil worship and ritual killings, was uncovered by police in the small town of Mezquital. The victims were believed to be local farmers killed during ceremonies in which they were hung upside down and had their throats cut. The crimes seem to have been similar to those at Metamorors, leading some to think claims by that group that the cult had more locations to not be just mere bragging after all.

1991, Bute, Montana - In April, Leon Lloyd Whitcher, A 30 yr. old self-described “high priest” of a satanic cult was convicted of raping a 14 yr. old girl. Prior to the assault, he asked her a series of questions about initiation into his satanic cult, whether she wanted “power,” and if she’d “obey a high priest.” He told her to change into a black robe, lie down, and stare at a pentagram painted on the ceiling before he assaulted her.(Billings Gazette)

2000, Nashville, Tennessee - A Federal judge was asked to hold the State of Tennessee in contempt of court in Feb. for its continued failure to provide court-ordered and doctor-prescribed mental health services to a severely traumatized 17-year-old victim (called “Sara C. to protect her identity) of rape as part of a Satanic ritual,. A State advocacy group, Tennessee Justice Center, filed a class action lawsuit against the state for failure to properly administer the appeals procedure for the health care plan enrolls of TennCare, (Tennessee Behavioral Health). The 17 yr. old victim was just one of the people named in the settlement but she was left without proper care until this motion was filed. In April, the state agreed to properly attend to her care.(AP)

2007 Leeds, England Satanist Gary Dover Afflick, 41, A sex offender & drug dealer who went on the run after he was released from prison was arrested in Leeds in March. The Fagin-style gang leader was convicted for a string of offences in 1997 at Bristol Crown Court. He was sentenced to 14 years in prison. Afflick selected rootless youngsters, usually aged between 9 and 14, and offered them shelter in "squats and flats”. He gave them drugs, lectured them about Satanism, and kept them in line with a regime of beatings and sexual assaults.(Reuters)

2018 A Massachusetts mother who was arrested after she allegedly stabbed her two sons to death with a kitchen knife told police that she attacked them as part of a voodoo ritual, an official said Tuesday.
