The traditional style bamboo headwear he adorns remains at an advantageous angle. It's all that he can do to keep his face and his solemn expression obscured, the hat does it's sudden designated job all too well.

Despite it all, the tension in the air is felt quiet strongly and permeates any and all within the area with ease.

Brow furrowed and deep in thought, Shunsui listens to the serene sound of his pen scratching across paper as he falls into his own little rhythm. Think, scribble, flip. The pattern is both comforting and familiar, the page filled with words that wouldn’t make sense to anyone but him.

Plush. Radiant. Indulgent.

So involved in his writing he doesn’t notice as you approach and drape your arm around his shoulder, glancing down at the paper as you press your temple against his.

“Whatcha writing?”

He answers your question with a slight jump before chuckling and placing his pen down, hands finding their way to your hips to guide you into his lap. You perch, still looking over the words and he rubs small circles into the soft flesh of your hip with his thumb.

“Working on something special,” Shunsui’s voice makes a chill run down your spine and he buries his face at the base of your neck, your skin exposed just enough to give him a canvas to kiss. He’s more than happy to leave no part of you untouched, unkissed, unloved.

“I’m surprised you’re working at all,” you joke as you emphasize your words, back arching into his kiss. “Isn’t it a little late?”

He hums against your skin and you feel yourself grow hot, the sound lax and sexy. “I couldn’t get this idea out of my mind.”

You hum back at him, scooting back across his thigh and leaning against his broad chest. Inching your fingers up his arm, they settle on his stubbly chin and you appreciate the familiarity of his skin beneath your fingers. “Are you going to tell me about the idea or am I going to have to guess?”

Shunsui’s fingers travel from your hips to your waist, gripping you just strong enough to leave an unspoken promise of more. The man is insatiable with lust and you know more is yet to come, your head tipped back against his shoulder to arch your chest and neck toward his view.

“Working on a new volume of Rose Colored Path.”

You gasp, head leaving his shoulder to glance up at him. He catches you off guard and returns your tender glance, hand leaving your waist to cup your chin. His lips brush against yours, another unspoken promise. You kiss back, eagerly, but back away enough to keep him from leaning in for another.

“I thought you stopped writing that altogether?”

He shrugs slightly and leans back in, your lips touching. Deepening the kiss, you moan slightly as his tongue dips between your lips and he embraces the feeling of you - the inspiration for the newest volume.

So close you can still feel his words vibrate against your mouth, he removes his hand from your chin and traces it down your throat, your collarbone, your chest...a path he has memorized.

“I was just waiting for the right muse.”

You giggle and he continues his explorations by dim evening light, mind conjuring additional words to add to his list tomorrow.

strict curfew after 10PM within his own barracks, because he is an awfully light sleeper, and any amount of noise, would wake him up. any good fighter needs to be well-rested | curled in a ball and with his hand against his zanpukto. the sword and him never part, even when he's asleep | futons or the floor and occasionally on the table when he falls asleep doing paperwork | before he became a soul reaper, he always napped whenever he could and watched over yachiru when she was very little but now they're practically inseparable from each other.

a great advocate for sleeping and being well rested, shunsui can never have enough sleep. he has a sporadic sleep schedule and will likely nap whatever chance he gets before his vice-captain catches him slacking again and whips him back into shape. at least till he becomes head captain and has a sense of responsibility on his back, it feels like he never gets a chance to rest while at war | back sleeper! | prefers to sleep on the grass, but he will virtually sleep anywhere. benches, floors, and even futons in other barracks | while he had a history of chasing girls and being a known womanizer in the academy, shunsui admittedly sleeps alone or has sleepovers at jushiro's or rangiku's place

Thoughts and Headcanons

God, there’s so much.  Yamamoto considers Kyoraku to be one of the sons he never had, so there’s a whole bunch of little things that about Kyoraku that bug the shit out of Yamamoto that he would write off as typical Captain eccentricities if they were coming from anyone else.

I think the biggest thing is how lackadaisical Shunsui acts.  Yamamoto knows that his future successor isn’t actually a lazy layabout, but the Captain of the 8th Divison is certainly skilled at fooling those who don’t know him.  It gives his troops the wrong impression and paints the 8th Division in a worse light than it deserves.  As a Captain, Shunsui should show more of his serious and competent side, as is befitting one of his true talent.

Of course, there’s also how Kyoraku treats his haori.  It’s not just a fashion statement, damn it!  YOU ARE CARRYING THE HISTORY AND PRIDE OF YOUR ENTIRE DIVISION ON YOUR BACK!

[ What is your favorite thing about your muse? ]

When I write a character I look for two main items:

The first, and I think the most important part, is the personality; looking always personalities that I could write no matter the plot.

Shunsui has a very special personality that defines him, and I do believe that is, mainly his trademark: he is so relaxed and a flamboyant man, I think his laziness is what captivates me so much, and possibly because it resembles mine.

He is a man of pure dialog, he prefers to talk and he tries his best to solve all the problems via speech when possible. Kyoraku, in my opinion, is quite humble and honest with his words.

The second thing, is his appearance: a man like him... basically is attractive, the way he speaks (so lazy) and those eyes aiming at you directly, not losing the focus, despite his age he looks so fine and quite handsome, the chest hair and his open haori to reveal part of his torso... is attractive as well.

Send a 👫and I’ll write four headcanons I have about our muse’s relationship- no longer accepting!

.Whiskey. Nanao has a lot of respect for Mizumi. Doesn't really care for her mouth, but they have a mutual respect I think. While Nanao, canonically outranks her by squad division, the two talk more amicably towards one another than anything as I feel post canon Nanao wouldn't let it go to her head that she was moved to Squad 1 and instead looks at it more that she has all this responsibility now. Mizumi probably tries to get her to work out more as I've noticed she'd into MMA and lifting. In return Nanao tries to get her to calm down some as they're opposites really. One focusing on the physical the other on the mental. In spite of them both looking like fierce forces to not be reckoned with, Mizumi is one of the only people close enough to Nanao to get her to relax and have a drink.

On to her uncle. We know Nanao was raised by Kyoraku essentially, though by blood she is his niece, he was more a father figure to her than anything and always will be. While she doesn't like his slacking, Nanao respects that as her family and Captain, she owes him everything even if it's a break. Nanao knows her uncle would kill for her if anything happened. But she doesn't want him going that far so she makes it a point to start training more once she does unleash her shikai. I have always headcanoned Nanao makes one hell of a cup of tea. She brings her uncle some to help him unwind, before she gets on him again to stop being so lazy and do his mission reports.

Possible spoilers concerning Bleach's 20th-anniversary one-shot and those who haven't yet read TYBW arc.

So, after I saw the sketches about current Gotei 13's captains and lieutenants, I couldn't help but think few things and also notice some things. Let me share some of my thoughts about some of them:

I think each person's individual styles are showing now more than before and I get the feeling it's thanks to Kyoraku. If we think back to the time when Yamamoto was Head Captain, most of the captains and lieutenants' uniforms were mostly always in their standard state, if we don't count few exceptions. (I'm looking at you, Mayuri.) There might have been few tattoos or piercings, but mostly there wasn't anything that gave off the individual's personality. Now, those seem more personalized -at least most of them.

I think it's very cool Kubo decided to highlight some details and how some outfits, hairstyles, etc. work. For example how Nanao's hairstyle works. That detail might seem very random, but considering the fact, her hairstyle would work in real life, kudos to Kubo about that.

Also, what I find interesting is Nanao's glove: that glove style reminds me of those archery gloves that we've seen used in archery. (At least in every manga/anime where there is an archery club, the characters usually wear such a glove.) It kind of made me think of Nanao using a bow and arrows...

I can't help but wonder why Soi Fon has that additional red ribbon around her waist... My one friend suggested it was probably a gift from Yoruichi.

Omaeda...he looks just...hmm, ever seen those anime series/movies where are those school bullies that try to act all tough, because their parents have money? Yet in reality, are weak? Yeah, Omaeda. Gives me that classical Japanese Gansta school bully vibes with his too many accessories.

Rose looks like some Victorian-era gay vampire... I'm actually digging his all-frills. Like, so many frills!

Izuru's looks are cool. I like that Assassin's Creed-type hood he is sporting. (Also, is his other hand now permanently black? Or, was that just a long glove he is wearing?)

Isane is just super-duper cute and soft-looking. Uwu. Makes me want to give her head pats and cheer her up, even if she would get all flustered! Precious baby.

Shinji's style is even more crooked if possible. I bet Death the Kid from Soul Eater would have a meltdown if he saw him...

Momo gives now this old-lady vibe because of the hairstyle she is sporting and that hair accessory. ^^'

I wonder why Renji has that army-type of vest under his normal shinigami robes... Also, kind of makes me want to see if something would hit (or shot) Renji's upper and if the vest would rescue his life like we see in cop movies/tv-series.

And did you notice Iba has miko bracelet? (I'm pretty sure it's miko bracelet.) And where he got that face scar on his face? I don't recall it at all?

Also, Iba's lieutenant Atau Rindō has that healer-type apron while he uses a high collar shirt which is cute. All in all, his looks are too very soft, yet sophisticated I'm also totally on board about that, he acts as a communicator between Iba and Komamura.

I bet Lisa's style got full marks from Kyoraku... I can imagine her just going to Kyoraku's office and be 'can I wear a mini-skirt and top?' while Kyoraku gave her thumbs up.

Also, I bet Lisa asked if her lieutenant could dress up.

Speaking of her lieutenant Yuyu Yayahara...she is just cute! I love her gyaru style~. Though, I wonder if she has a fake tan...? I mean, gyaru's usually had, but her skin color could actually be dark. Either way, she still looks super cute! I loved her girly badass appearance. The fact she wore cute nail polish, accessories, etc. yet was all badass? Yes, please.

Kensei gives this big biker dad energy... while his son (Hisagi) is too wild.

One thing that I marked was the fact Kubo hadn't sketched Mashiro. In fact, she didn't appear at all in the one-shot. While I didn't at first think that much about it, but the fact Kubo sketched Genshirō Okikiba (Kyoraku's other lieutenant), yet not Mashiro was odd. I mean, in TYBW Mashiro told Hisagi she is super-lieutenant (co-lieutenant) and it's obvious from the sketches we saw Kubo sketched just captains and lieutenants (plus Yumichika. Then again, he and Ikkaku are a set, so yeah), so leaving Mashiro out felt just...weird. Maybe Kubo forgot her?

It appears Toshiro's sheathe now scatters like Senbonzakura? As far as I remember that didn't happen at least in the manga.

It seems Rangiku healed from her broken heart as her hair is once again long. Good for her! Also, she has now tied that pink cloth around her waist, which is actually very cute.

Yumichika is as stylish as ever. I especially liked the feather details in his sketch.

Mayuri's additions to his robes make me think spotted jelly. Sorry, but especially the captain's robe's ones make me think that.

Akon's necklace-thingy looks just...odd...but I suppose it's handy? I mean, it looks sturdy and it should be because I can imagine a lieutenant's badge must weigh at least a little bit. It also appears he has some vitals in his necklace...

The funny thing with Rukia is that, if you would remove her ponytail, she would have basically her old hairstyle -just uneven.
