Dancing in the Sky~ Seems Mahsa is more sure-footed when she's not on the ground, whereas for Riz it's the opposite. This is another one of those Key Scenes that's been in my head for years. Getting the composition to work the way I wanted (and the POSES) was a struggle! I spent weeks researching, referring to other artists' work to get everything "right". Luckily I had already found the landscapes I wanted to reference (or took the photos myself)
I hope ya'll love these pages!

i was actually scared to post this, so if you have anything hateful to say, please do not interact with this post. thank you!
let's talk about mahsa amini.
so i'm sure you've all heard the name recently: she's been in the news a lot, because she was an iranian woman who died.
let's ask google how she died, shall we?
Tumblr media
hm.
i'm going to have to disagree with you there, state authorities of iran.
mahsa amini was 22 years old. on the 13th of september, she travelled to tehran to visit her family with her brother, kiaresh amini. she was at the entrance of the hiqqani highway when she was arrested.
but why was she arrested? was she speeding on hiqqani highway or something?
oh no, of course not! it was because she was wearing her hijab "inappropriately".
she was told she'd be taken to a detention centre for a "briefing class" and released shortly afterwards, except she never made it. instead she was at kasra hospital - where she died on friday, febuary 16th.
she was in a coma for three days.
in an instagram post which has now been deleted, the hospital admitted she was brain dead on arrival.
"Resuscitation was performed on the patient, the heartbeat returned and the patient was admitted to the intensive care unit," they originally wrote, reports The Guardian. "Unfortunately, after 48 hours on Friday, the patient suffered a cardiac arrest again, due to brain death. Despite the efforts of the medical team, they failed to revive her and the patient died." - Harper's Bazaar
the "guidance patrol" who was supposed to be taking her to a detention centre, beat her.
the iranian police commander, hossein rahimi, claims that amini's death was simply an "unfortunate accident."
here's what amini's dad had to say.
“They said Mahsa had heart disease and epilepsy but as the father who raised her for 22 years, I say loudly that Mahsa did not have any illness. She was in perfect health. The person who hit my daughter should be put on trial in a public court, not a fake trial that results in reprimands and expulsions."
and all of this, such a brutal death covered up with attempted lies because of what?
a hijab.
iran has made the hijab mandatory since 1976.
and clearly, women who don't follow end up like amini.
i am a hijabi teenager, living far, far away of iran, and i think that's disgustingly wrong.
i wear a hijab for my lord. it was my decision.
wearing a hijab is for Allah. it's not for men. it's not for police.
and you, as a man, have no right to tell a woman how to wear her hijab.
you think Allah is pleased with you? for forcing these women to wear hijab? for killing them if you don't?
personally, i highly doubt it.
to any man who has forced a woman to wear a hijab, punishing her for not wearing it correctly, you are disgusting. you terrify me and disgust me and you are the reason people see islam as a terrorist religion.
and to think that in france, women are fighting to wear the hijab.
for god's sake, just let women wear what they want.
please.

No offence, but if you are not a hijabi but you still wrap or wear a headscarf for any other reason, whether it be religious, spiritual, sensory, or mental health related -- you need to support the protesters in Iran. Especially if you live in America or another democratic country where you have the choice to wrap or cover part time or full time. You need to support your headcovering kin. They don't have the capacity to share with others what is happening to them due to Internet suppression and media control. But you can be their voices. Don't let your sisters down.

Black Rose/Rose Negra (BRRN): Is it accurate to call these demonstrations feminist in character?
Federation of Anarchism Era (FAE): Yes, Absolutely. Like all other uprisings, there were developments and movements beneath the surface.
It can be said that the recent crackdown on the Hijab and increased brutality of the morality police started in response to Iranian women’s spontaneous, autonomous, and feminist self-organization. Earlier this year, women in Iran began to black-list and boycott people and businesses, such as cafes, that strictly enforce the Hijab. The movement was decentralized and leaderless, aimed at creating safe spaces for women and members of the LGBTQ community.
That brutal oppression culminated at this moment where women are at the forefront everywhere, burning their scarves and beating down cops without Hijab. The main slogan of the uprising is also “Woman, Life, Freedom,” a slogan from Rojava, a society whose ambitions are based on anarchist, feminist, and secular ideology.

Mahsa Amini
Persian wind was gently chilling the air, that surrounds the so-called Azadi square, though in Iran no one would dare,I started feeling the cold on my hair. The square reminds freedom for all,but for women, apart it falls,we are for their masculine control, apart from their guidance patrol. The police came from both sides either, screening on me for what they bother, showed any signs of respect…

We Need A Solution For This World Wide Problem: Inequality
I thought I wouldn’t post about this kind of stuff here but the recent news led me to post about these topics on all my social media accounts. Last Friday a woman named Mahsa Amina got brutally beaten to death. Records and news show that She got arrested by the “Morality Police” in Iran over the so-called Islamic laws and the mandatory hijab law. On Tuesday she was arrested and taken to the police station for a “Re-education” about the hijab. A few hours later she was rushed to the hospital. Iranian authorities said she suddenly had a “heart problem” while the victim's family said that their daughter was beaten to death. People in Iran started protesting to show that they no longer can be silenced.  They started protesting by cutting their hair, taking off their head scarves, and burning them on the streets. People who live there say that the oppression got so bad that they couldn’t even go to school or get a job if they didn’t cover their hair by the age of seven. While Iran’s gender apartheid dictatorship is still terrorizing people, Iranian people are trying to raise awareness on social media. And the worst part is, this is not even the only place these horrible things happen.     In Afghanistan, the Taliban is still terrorizing people. Recently they banned women from access to education and showing their faces in public. No one should be fighting for their basic rights but these people do. Afghan people are trying to protest the Taliban but their voices aren’t heard enough.
Everyone deserves equal rights no matter nationality, ethnicity, gender, or religion because these are basic human rights and no one is superior to the other. Going against human rights causes conflict and will make this world even more crooked. By sitting here in silence and not even trying to do something you are supporting the oppressor. If we speak up more we can amplify the voice of the victims around the world. Please be a part of the movement and show that you care by spreading awareness. This may be the least we can do but it’s better than sitting here and watching all this violence happen. We need to show that everyone can do anything with the right amount of support because this is in our nature. Humans need each other to live and prevent problems worldwide. Even if we can’t prevent everything bad from happening we can still help people in need. If you haven’t started protesting yet, know that you still can. Don’t forget that it’s better late than never. Join us and become a voice of the silent. We can make it all happen together.

Iran's security forces crack down on protests a year after Mahsa Amini's death
Iranian security forces cracked down on protests in Kurdish areas of the country on Saturday and briefly detained the father of Mahsa Amini, a year after the young woman's death in custody set off some of the worst political unrest in four decades.
Tumblr media
The Revolutionary Guards detained a dual national suspected of "trying to organise unrest and sabotage", the official news agency IRNA reported, one of several arrests of "counter revolutionaries" and "terrorists" reported.
As night fell on Saturday, a heavy security force presence in Iran's mostly Kurdish areas appeared to have deterred large-scale protest rallies but human rights groups reported sporadic confrontations in several areas of the country.
The death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Kurdish woman arrested by the morality police last year for allegedly flouting mandatory dress codes, triggered months of some of the biggest protests against the Islamic Republic's Shi'ite clerical rule ever seen and drew international condemnation.
Despite the heavy security presence on Saturday, there were indications of protest actions at various points around the country. Videos posted on social media showed people gathered on a main avenue in the capital Tehran cheering a young protesting couple as drivers honked their car horns in support.
IRNA reported that fire engulfed the women's ward at the Qarchak prison in Tehran province before being put out after convicts awaiting execution set fire to their clothes. It said there were no casualties.
The Kurdistan Human Rights Network, which said the incident was linked to the protests, said special forces entered the ward, beat up the women and fired pellet bullets.
In a separate incident, human rights group Hengaw said security forces opened fire in the Kurdish city of Mahabad, wounding at least one person. It also said several people were wounded in the city of Kermanshah but there was no official confirmation of either incident.
In Amini's home town of Saqez, in northwestern Iran, the semi-official Fars news agency reported that police using a pellet gun had seriously injured a man who "ignored a police warning". It said the man was in an intensive care ward after undergoing an operation, but provided no more detail.
Social media postings also carried footage of residents of cities including Tehran shouting slogans against Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei such as "Death to the Dictator!" as well as protests in areas including Gohardasht, in the city of Karaj west of Tehran, and in Mashhad in the northeast.
One video posted on social media showed a group of demonstrators in Gohardasht chanting "We are a great nation, and will take back Iran" while drivers honked their horns and shouted encouragement. Reuters could not immediately authenticate the video.
In the demonstrations that followed Amini's death more than 500 people, including 71 minors, were killed, hundreds injured and thousands arrested, rights groups said. Iran carried out seven executions linked to the unrest.
On Saturday, Mahsa's father, Amjad Amini, was warned against marking the anniversary of his daughter's death before being released, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network said, and the family was not able to hold a planned vigil at her graveside.

IRNA denied in a report that Amjad Amini had been arrested, but it did not say whether he was briefly detained or warned.
Earlier, social media and reports by rights groups spoke of security forces taking up positions around Amini's home in Saqez, in western Iran.
'HISTORIC MOVEMENT'
The crackdown on protests came as the condemnation by the United Nations nuclear watchdog of Tehran's decision to bar several inspectors from the country underlined Iran's isolation from the West.
In Washington, hundreds of protesters gathered in a park across from the White House holding portraits of Amini. Speakers led the crowd in chants of "Say her name ... Mahsa Amini," and also recited "We are the revolution" and "Human rights for Iran!"
In a statement on Friday, U.S. President Joe Biden said: "Mahsa's story did not end with her brutal death. She inspired a historic movement — Woman, Life, Freedom — that has impacted Iran and influenced people across the globe."
Britain on Friday imposed sanctions on four Iranian officials and the U.S. said it was sanctioning more than two dozen individuals and entities connected to Iran's "violent suppression" of protests.
Without naming Biden, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani rejected as "double standards and lies" Western expressions of support for women's rights in Iran.
State media also dismissed reports of disturbances and strikes in multiple cities in Iran's Kurdistan region. IRNA said Saqez was "completely quiet" and that calls for strikes in Kurdish areas had failed due to "people's vigilance and the presence of security and military forces".
The agency quoted an official in the Kurdistan province as saying: "A number of agents affiliated with counter-revolutionary groups who had planned to create chaos and prepare media fodder were arrested in the early hours of this morning."
In a report last month, Amnesty International said Iranian authorities "have been subjecting victims' families to arbitrary arrest and detention, imposing cruel restrictions on peaceful gatherings at grave sites, and destroying victims' gravestones".
Many journalists, lawyers, activists, students, academics, artists, public figures and members of ethnic minorities accused of links with the protest wave, as well as relatives of protesters killed in the unrest, have been arrested, summoned, threatened or fired from jobs in the past few weeks, according to Iranian and Western human rights groups.
Iran's Etemad daily reported in August that the lawyer for Amini's family also faced charges of "propaganda against the system". If convicted, Saleh Nikbakht faces a jail sentence of between one and three years.
