Film Review – The Quietude (2018)

Sometimes It’s good going into a film knowing very little about it with low expectations. In Pablo Trapero’s last film, The Clan (2015)it was a bizarre, engrossing tale about a Bourgeois family tipping it’s toes into the evils that money brings. The ending took us all surprise (in a good way), expecting the unexpected. We do get that in his latest film, The Quietude (2018), sadly what follows…

Городские трущобы Буэнос-Айреса семидесятых, неустроенность, граничащая с нищетой и общественный протест. Лишь двое священников несмотря ни на что готовы помогать людям и противостоять всему. Они не слишком глядят на запреты своих собственных руководителей, да и самих их раздирают страсти. Например, герой Джереми Ренье без особых иллюзий проводит страстный роман с женщиной. Но, в моменты решающие они рядом с людьми.

Пабло Траперо опять снимает, ровно как и в “Каранчо” скучный фильм. Яркий грустный финал немного оттеняет всю безликость происходящего. Видно, что ставка сделана на изображение, граничащее с итальянским неореализмом, разных фрагментов общественного неблагополучия. На мой вкус, вышло все это слишком незамысловато и односложно. Пусть и не провально
