Here's the first look at Shadi Petosky and Roberta Ingranata's Wiccan & Hulkling story in Marvel's Voices: Pride (2023), introducing a new trans super-hero, Lacie Lorraine.

Ingranata's lineart looks great, and I do like the look she's gone with for Billy, but my eyes landed very quickly on that little cross earring. This detail seems to have been lifted directly from Kei Zama's design from Death's Head (2019), where the inverted cross accessory was included as part of Billy's new soft-goth style. I like this direction for Billy, but it's not hard to illustrate goth fashion on a Jewish character without using crosses. Literally any other shape would have sufficed, including a simple hoop or dangling jewel.

I really enjoyed Gambit and Felicia Hardy offhandedly breaking up a TERF rally at New Orleans Pride.

Like that's not even the focus of the story, it's just a quick few panels as they discuss Felicia's love life, but it's a fun moment.

Wiccan and Hulkling will have a story in this year's Marvel Voices: Pride!!!

Yup! Not surprising, but also never a guarantee. They've been featured in the last two editions, but this is the first time there's been a specifically Hulkling & Wiccan story in the Pride anthology.

Here's the teaser, from the Pride press release at Marvel.com:

Television writer Shadi Petosky (The Sandman) pens her first Marvel Comics story! Wiccan and Hulkling are on a much-needed getaway when the beloved couple finds themselves stranded. Luckily, they befriend an all-new super hero who lends a helping hand!

I'm not super familiar with Petosky's work, but I've got to say that having a transfeminine person writing these characters is really cool, and it feels very full circle to me, personally, considering my own history. I'm really eager to find out who the artist will be.

Here’s the main cover for Marvel's Voices: Pride (2023), by Amy Reeder, and a variant by Craig Russel. Lots of Young Avengers love here, although I'm disappointed Tommy's been left out, even with David present.
