What type of music do you listen to?
Oh, gosh. I listen to all kinds of music, I can like pretty much any genre.
Rock and metal tend to be the genres that I listen to the most. A lot of Megadeth, Metallica, Motley Crue, KISS, Pantera, Skid Row.
I'm big into Nirvana, Green Day, Sex Pistols, Foo Fighters.
I love The Beatles, The Animals, Bon Jovi.
I'm also into musicians like Hozier and Noah Kahan. I also really like Ian McConnell who is a lesser known musician I found on Tiktok. I'd recommend listening to Friends and Pair by him.
I like ABBA, of course. I'm also into The Runaways.
I like some Guns n Roses songs. I'm into Cinderella, Poison, Hanoi Rocks, WASP, some Black Sabbath songs. I enjoy Faster Pussycat. I really dig Aerosmith.
I listen to Gasolin' almost religiously.
I really like Megan Thee Stallion, although I need to listen to more stuff by her.
I listen to The Used, Bowling For Soup, Sum 41, Simple Plan, and Blink 182 a lot.
I'm really into musicals, so I listen to a lot of songs off their soundtracks. (Les Miserables, Little Shop Of Horrors, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Matilda, Shrek, Hairspray, etc.)
LOVE The White Stripes. I'll also be honest and say I have kind of a weak spot for Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, and some boy bands. (Although, come on. Who doesn't love I Want It That Way?"
I like The Fratellis, Black Kids, Penelope Scott, Ashnikko, Fall Out Boy, The Front Bottoms, and Bella Poarch.
I'm sure I'm forgetting some too, but those are the ones I'm listening to most of the time.

Thank you so much! I have one more exam and a paper to finish then I'll be off until mid January! 🙌🏻 Glad you mentioned that cause they used to be a Zeppelin cover band before they became GVF! OH THAT'S SO COOL!!!! I heard Perhaps live and I really liked it! The General is pretty good too! Dave's book is incredible and I recommend reading the rest of it! He does the audiobook for it too so you should listen to it sometime! Oh I can't wait to see pics of your cats when we reveal ourselves!!! 😍 HELL YEAH great bands and OMG that's my second favourite Warrant album that's in your top 5! Dog Eat Dog is so underrated! My top five albums are Wasting Light by Foo Fighters, Ride the Lightning by Metallica, Van Halen by Van Halen, Hysteria by Def Leppard, and Appetite for Destruction by Guns N' Roses! I hope you're having a great weekend so far! Are you doing anything between now and the holidays? -🔮
Oh, I wish you good luck with the exam and the paper! I have two exams left and I'll be free (for a while haha)
Were they a cover band? OMG! It's so cool! I will definitely finish reading Dave's book during the holidays and hope that the audiobook will be great!
I pinned photos of my cats in the last post and you can see them! I'm looking forward to seeing Jasmine on December 25th. 😍
Dog Eat Dog is really underestimated :(YOUR TOP IS JUST PERFECT! Do you prefer Van Halen with David Lee Roth or Sammy Hagar? By the way, have you heard Metallica's latest album?
I'm already looking forward to the end of the year because I'm terribly tired lol. I have a lot of studies and a lot of things to do before Christmas. What about you?
🎄Do you have a favorite TV series?
🎄What weather/season do you like the most?
🎄 Do you like making playlists? (like winter playlist, etc)

Classical Rock Favorites
Before I was ever into rap/hip-hop, I fell in love with rock music. This was a little over ten years ago. I was around eight years old, and the only songs I was able to listen to were the ones from my parents’ apple music library. I suppose the appropriate name for it back then was iTunes. Nonetheless, this is where my journey into the world of rock music began. Some names that instantly come to mind are Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, etc. I especially fell in love with Guns N’ Roses’ music. Their lead guitarist Slash was the coolest dude I have ever seen at the time. He was the reason I wanted to learn guitar, but I never did unfortunately. The outfit Slash wore with the top hat is so iconic. The whole band was at the time. They were big during the mid and late 80′s which is probably one of the best eras of all time in my opinion (the entire 80′s). Anyway, I can see why so many people want to learn how to play guitar after growing up in any of those times where classic rock was played. Aside from Slash, there was Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin whose riffs and solos on songs were so ethereal. Eddie Van Halen was also very skilled and Jimi Hendrix. All these guys come to mind when I think of guitarists. There is something about rock music that separates it from the rest. Maybe it is the vibe behind a rock song, band, or concert. The puffy hair and the masses of crowds in the stadium screaming for an encore. I am not sure what it truly was that got me into it, but I did not always like rap. I never even listened to rap music back then. I still remember one embarrassing time where my brother’s friend asked me who my favorite rapper was. My panicked answer being, “Uhh Chris Brown...?” I was 6 or 7 years old. Give me a break. My dad is a huge Journey fan (Don’t Stop Believing being one of his favorite songs of all time) and I also really like their music too. I sometimes think that because my parents had deep roots from some of the best decades in human history, that my love for this genre was already inside of me. My brother is also responsible for most of my passion towards this style of music. He was very big into Nirvana, and he taught himself to play a lot of their songs on guitar. I used to burrow his iPod Nano which I thought was the coolest thing ever at the time. My parents used to have iPod shuffles that I would also take from their room. I would then have a whole rock concert by myself in my room. Some other bands that I was into were The Foo Fighters, System of a Down, The Rolling Stones, The Smashing Pumpkins, and others. This music really changed my life at the time. I was a dreamer back then, and I was constantly imagining myself as a rockstar shredding the guitar with long-curly-puffy hair while a group of girls drool over me. I shouldn’t have given up on that dream, but middle school was rough. Eventually I grew up and grew out of this style of music. My friends introduced me to rap in middle school, and later in high school I got into country music. I also listen to some pop songs, but I would rather call it club music than pop. From my perspective, all these rock bands are now to be considered as classics and placed in the classical rock category. They are all classics in my eyes.

CAN YOU PLEASE GO BACK TO ROCK MAINSTREAM?
I’m talking about today’s music in 2010s. this is based on what I watched and searched on youtube/ google that rock is no longer in the mainstream, the death of pop music. just my opinion when it comes to my head, but you have to respect my music taste.
IM SO SICK AND TIRED OF HEARING THAT ROCK IS DEAD, ROCK IS GONE, ROCK IS NOWHERE, ROCK IS OVERRATED, ETC ETC.
not only rock, but also punk, metal, hardcore, and many genres which no longer mainstream, I personally like rock mainstream like the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s which become popular.
actually, I’m not always hating pop music, but I like pop music. I grew up with pop music in the 90s, such as Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Nsync, and many more. but now in the 2010s, I feel like pop music is so boring, insulting, annoying, and watered down. you know what the reason is that too much mainstream and overplayed everywhere on the radio, spotify, tv, youtube. but don’t blame me, there’s a good pop song everywhere that i like.
anyway 2010s music is sucks.
there’re many kinds of pop music which are popular on the mainstream like trap, mumble rap, Edm, alternative.
if I listen this pop song too much, it makes me feel like where’s a rock, metal, and punk ? are they no longer popular in the 2000s like sum 41, papa roach, Limp Bizkit, taking back Sunday, my chemical romance. but now rock is no longer genre anymore, it turns to sellout generic pop which I used to like to listen to their original rock/punk/metal genre like fall out boy, panic at the disco, 30 seconds to mars, 5sos, maroon 5.
you know what the worst part of thing is like big music awards such as, grammy, VMA, and billboard, they don’t put a rock/punk/metal artists or bands performance not more than 1, they just put popular pop/ trap/ alternative/EDM artists which kinda makes me sick. I feel like I don’t watch this music awards show anymore you know what because of no rock performance.
I would say that it feels neutral that I love or hate pop music, I’m not against pop artists but you know what i am against for is the music industry.
rock is no longer anymore in the mainstream in the 2010s, but it still exists even when I listen to old rock songs back in the 60s-2000s and also new rock band in 2010s like Greta van fleet and the struts. they both my favorite hard rock band. their songs are freaking catchy, not boring. it just like back in time when classic rock become popular like the Beatles, queen, the who, led zeppelin, Jimi hendrix, and many more.
remember back in 2012, i listened to the beatles whole albums, i just thought that i hated pop songs (lol), not only the beatles, but also i listened to the who, rolling stones, the doors, black sabbath, cream, pink floyd. later, in 2014-2015, i got into metal band like metallica, motley crue, poison, van halen, aerosmith. oh yeah tbh, i know their bands since i was a kid but i haven’t listened to their whole popular songs. actually when i was an elementary school, i liked listening to pop punk/power pop stuff like fall out boy, panic at the disco, blink 182, green day, bowling at the soup, boys like girls, all time low, new found glory, the maine, all american rejects.
tbh, I preferred pop-punk that rock/ metal when i listened to, but i did love listening to nu-metal like linkin park, papa roach, limp Bizkit, korn, p.o.d and other alternative rock, hard rock and heavy metal like incubus, audioslave, velvet revolver, foo fighters, guns n’ roses, nirvana, stone temple pilots, avenged sevenfold.
that’s the end of my opinion, I don’t know if continue to write it, maybe i will edit later (lol). in my conclusion, rock is no longer becomes mainstream mostly in the 2010s, but pop is more become popular not only one genre but also trap, alternative, and EDM, Unfortunately, the rock band is no longer playing rock genre anymore, it turns to sellout which kinda makes me sick, of course. overall, i prefer to listen to old rock songs from 60s until modern rock 10s than listen to a shitty generic pop songs that overplayed everywhere. that’s it.

365 Days of 90's Songs
Every day of 2017 (or at least close to it), I posted a different song from the 1990′s on my Facebook page. When I started it, I had no rules and no plan. I just started posting songs that came to me that I enjoyed from that era. To be honest, I had always done a lot of research on 90′s music because in film school (2010-ish), I outlined a screenplay set in 1996 and deep dove into the music then. As 2017 went on, and I continued to work 70-80 hours a week in film production, updating the list became cumbersome, but I still refused to post weak 90′s songs like “U Can’t Touch This”, “Barbie Girl” or “Blue (Da Ba De)” etc. If you like songs like that then please go listen to them, but I’m not going to pretend that I enjoyed them at all in the 90′s or now.
Looking back on this list, I wish I had put a little more thought into creating a cohesive mix or including my favorite songs, many of which were left off because I ran out of time, but most of the fun of doing this list was just winging it and seeing if anyone liked any of the random songs I did when I was 7-17 years old. I’m going to make an Apple Music and Spotify playlist out of all of these songs but compiling this full list in the proper order already took enough time for this weekend.

History of Rock from Ithaca Audio on Vimeo.
A History of Rock in 15 minutes. 348 rockstars, 84 guitarists, 64 songs, 44 drummers, 1 mashup. Download audio version: http://bit.ly/1W5YMyO
Thanks for the amazing response to the video in the last couple of days, it’s really blown us away. Some people have also made some really good points about the diversity of the acts involved and raised questions about what’s been included vs what hasn’t etc. There are tons of hugely influential artists and sub-genres that we haven’t included in this and our main aim was to create a mashup that was foremost entertaining to watch, contain it to around 15mins, for it to primarily work well musically (and in the form of a Facebook feed) and have examples of the evolution of mainstream rock over the decades rather than create a kind of definitive documentary of rock. We really hope that comes across and you guys enjoy the video for what it is. It would have been great for us to start earlier on and explore more of the influence of the early pioneers before Elvis, which we picked mainly because musically it makes a great sounding intro with The Yardbirds. As you guys can probably tell, more hours than we’d like to think about now went into working out this giant musical jigsaw and getting it to work harmonically at the same time, but in hindsight we’d have loved to have tried to get some of the incredible women in rock to sit within the mix and feature a few videos rather than just noting their influence. Thanks for all the love so far and the interesting points that people are making too - it’s all great to hear.
