Kingdom Hearts Divergence, the Hearts In Chaos Chronicle

THE GOOD GUYS

Ephemer - The main protagonist of the saga, debuting as a dual MC next to Sora in KH4 before Sora's Keyblade of Light chooses Ephemer to be its new wielder. Ephemer's background is opposite of Sora's in that he's always known of other worlds, Keyblades, powers of light and darkness from the heart, Kingdom Hearts and all that because he's actually a member of the Dandelion Guild who comes from the distant past, having been thrust forward in time after running afoul of a conspiracy being set in motion by the then-current Guild Masters. Ephemer is a kind-hearted, empathetic and curious youth who wishes to solve the mysteries of the World, such as the Book of Prophecies and what exactly transpired between the Unions of the Dandelion Guild that caused Keyblades and Masters to become scarce. Much hard-hitting and less easygoing than Sora, he can be a bit cocky when he fights but is also known to be hesitant when he is unsure he's up to a big task, particularly true for becoming the next Keyblade Master, but he gradually starts to grow into the role. Ephemer is voiced in the English dub by Michael Johnston.

Skuld - The series' new female lead is quite special, as she's come to the present timeline from a far off future. It's never confirmed outright where she hails from and who her family is, but it is strongly implied that she's the future daughter of Squall Leonhart and Rinoa Heartilly, with similiarities in hair, fashion sense, and even the use of a sort of "Gunblade" as her weapon of choice. Skuld, like Riku, has dabbled in the powers of Darkness and can now uses abilities derived from the twilight in-between. Despite being something self-serious, driven, and something of a loner at first, Skuld cares greatly for her friends and doesn't like seeing others fighting and getting hurt, which is why she tries to carry the burdens all by herself. As she befriends Ephemer and begins to loosen up, we see she is every bit as empathetic as him and willing to take great risks to protect others.

Skuld is voiced in the English dub by Cristina Vee.

Brain - A young man living in the present day's Daybreak Town, Brain (pronounced BRYNE) is a cool, laid-back, and studious person by nature. The first person befriended by Ephemer when he lands in this timeline, Brain becomes protective of the boy like a big brother. He is very clever and tactically gifted, good with analytics, deduction, and making plans to be implemented in times of conflict. Brain was also hesitant about becoming an adventuring, world-saving hero, believing himself incapable of fulfilling the role, but resolves to perform his duties to prevent another war from breaking out. It is later revealed that Master Luxu's heart cast itself into Brain's and melded with it (akin to Ventus with Sora), so the Luminous Vanguard seek to recruit him into the Lost Masters, but Brain fights to assert that his heart is his own and he "makes himself" who he truly is. Much like Organization XIII's Zexion, Brain's weapon of choice is a magic book.

Brain is voiced in the English dub by Max Mittelman.

Huey, Dewey, and Louie Duck - In the year between KH2-KH3 and KH4, Donald's triplet nephews underwent a growth spurt and got even more deeply involved with being entrepreneurs under their great uncle Scrooge's mentorship, finally deciding they were ready to take on adventures of their own across the galaxy. As fate would have it, their first such endeavor leads them to Ephemer, and from them on they are inseparable from him. The Nephews act as a constantly rotating unit. In some worlds Ephemer can switch between which Nephew he wants to have fight along with him, but in select worlds, only one nephew will be available. Their specialty is utilizing magic like their uncle, but through high-tech gear rather than staffs.

The Nephews are voiced in the English dub by Danny Pudi (Huey), Ben Schwartz (Dewey), and Bobbi Moynihan (Louie).

Max Goof - The estranged teenage son of Disney Castle's lead guard, Goofy, Max is a squire still in training whose tastes tend to differ from his doofus dad's, including his belief that the best defense is a good offense, which is why he fights with a very shield-like blade. When Goofy and Donald accompany Sora to look into the rise in blight power and the Demi-Deterged, Max steals away on his own to prove himself, running into Donald's Nephews and Ephemer in the process. As one of Ephemer's constant companions, Max fears being as clumsy as his dad or being seen as needing of constant supervision and help, but eases into becoming a knight on his terms.

Max is voiced in the English dub by Jason Marsden.

Timothy Mouse - A mouse who used to be a big name in show biz but has since fallen to the wayside and become homeless. Timothy accompanies Ephemer and his friends on their journeys. The whole joke with him is that as he is a mouse and he's joined up with ducks and a Goof, Timothy believes himself a potential successor to King Mickey himself only to find himself the new Jiminy Cricket instead.

Timothy is voiced in the English dub by Chris Edgerly, who also voices the role of Cid.

King Mickey - We all know who he is by now, and of course he was going to involve himself somehow. Following KH4, he gets seen much less in the plot, making it a big deal whenever he does pop up.

King Mickey is voiced in the English dub by Brett Iwan.

Figaro - A stray cat from Disney Town who tags along with Max and with the main party, being attracted to Ephemer, Skuld, and Brain's monochrome colors they wear that match Figaro's own fur.

Figaro is voiced in the English dub by Frank Welker.

Chirithy - The Chirithy were the ancient predecessors to Moogles in the World, but only one such Chirithy remains in the present day.

Chirithy is voiced in the English dub by Lara Jill Miller.

The Blue Fairy - The very same Blue Fairy who brought Pinocchio to life, it's her magic that draws Ephemer, Brain, and Skuld together, as she fills Yen Sid's old spot as the primary magic-powered mentor.

The Blue Fairy is voiced in the English dub by Rosalin Landor.

Merlin - Speaking of magic-powered mentor, Merlin is still very much around, still working with the Committee, still in possession of the Winnie The Pooh book, and still offering magic training to any who need it. He becomes particularly close with both Brain and Max.

Merlin is voiced in the English dub by Jeff Bennett.

Scrooge McDuck - Donald's uncle and the great uncle of Huey, Dewey, and Louie who mentored them in the ways of big business. Uncle Scrooge is still around the hub worlds, always doing his thing.

Scrooge McDuck is voiced in the English dub by En Reitel.

Wreck-It Ralph & Pals - First obtained as summonable allies by Sora in KH3, Ralph, Vanellope, Felix, and Sgt. Calhoun are allies in their own world in KH4 and become recurring aid to Ephemer's party.

They are voiced in the English dub by John C. Reily, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer, and Jane Lynch.

Kermit The Frog - No one quite understands what Kermit's deal is, but he was displaced from his home world when it got torn up by blight, so now he seeks application with Leon's Committee in KH4. Later reunited with his Muppet friends in KH5, Kermit continues to help out while also serving as the host for entertainment venues and mini-games. He's generally good-natured, but not good at handling frustration, and has next to no combat capabilities besides dodging.

Kermit The Frog is voiced in the English dub by Matt Vogel.

Elrena, Lauriam, & Strelitizia - The resident "Hayner, Pence, and Olette" of Daybreak Town, this trio is unique in that there are two girls and one guy this time! The three of them were in the very last remnant of the old Dandelion Guild and like a family to one another, but Strelitiza tragically lost her heart in an incident a few years ago, with Lauriam and Elrena losing their hearts to the Heartless when they invaded their world. Now fully restored to life, the trio become loyal allies to Ephemer upon learning his ties to the Dandelion Guild.

Elrena, Lauriam, & Strelitzia are voiced in the English dub by Shanelle Workman-Gray, Keith Ferguson, and Madison Davenport.

THE ENEMIES

The Demi-Detergered - A truly bizarre and unexpected evolution has occurred within many of the Heartless that still roam the worlds. Powers of light, light stolen from the hearts of others, have entered their veins and changed them from within. Rather than be attracted to the darkness of people's hearts with the instict to prey upon those hearts, these Heartless seek out darkness and attack it in ways that prove dangerous to hearts and destructive to the fabric of the World. Called the Demi-Deterged, this brand of Heartless and the "blight" they possess is exploited by the Luminous Vanguard in their quest to purge reality of darkness and re-organize it around eternal light.

Neodarkness - An entity made of pure raw darkness who's become ruler of the Dark Realm, ensuring that all dark beings like Darklings, Heartless, Unversed, and Nightmares return to the World. In his previous existence, Neodarkness was Vanitas, the dark half of Ventus who served Master Xehanort. In accepting his nature, his dark soul was able to evolve into something else. Pure evil as he seems, Neodarkness doesn't always disturb the peace and finds himself frequently acting on the defensive against beseiging blight.

Neodarkness is voiced in the English dub by Haley Joel Osment.

Pete & Duke Mortimer - While Maleficent plays the chief antagonist role in KH4 along with Judge Frollo, she's brought down and sapped of all her dark magical power in the end. Unable to act anymore, she tasks Pete with tending to all her tasks and searching for a way to restore her power to her, and knowing that her chief flunkie is hardly reliable on his own, she inducts a new flunkie into her service: Duke Mortimer Mouse, King Mickey's rival from Disney Town who debuted in KH4. Creating a faux Keyblade for his use, Mortimer also comes in handy for slaying Demi-Deterged as he and Pete travel the worlds.

Pete and Duke Mortimer are voiced in the English dub by Jim Cummings and Maurice Lemarche respectively.

The Luminous Vanguard - A clerical society of white mages made from what used to be different unions for the Dandelion Guild. While their seven masters entering stasis in time made the group unable to function for ages, it has finally reactivated and is out to achieve its leader's vision of a reconstructed Kingdom Hearts whose pure light can spread to not just all worlds, but all Worlds, and burn away all darkness so that all hearts will be forced into obedience to the light. Having eliminated the ability for hearts to unite with Keyblades in frequency ages ago, the Vanguard abhors the very existence of the Keyblade, believing such a weapon to not be fit for human hands.

Master Narix - Founder and leader of the Luminous Vanguard. Narix has long believed that the majority of hearts are naturally weak and susceptible to darkness that begets dark powers that defile the World, and that only the strongest and purest of hearts should set the course for the World and its denizens. Envisioning a reality where darkness no longer exists, light conquers all Worlds, and he reigns supreme as the light's oppressive guardian, Narix arrogantly looks to use blight to tear down and reconstruct Kingdom Hearts from within its innermost heart, and will eradicate all that would get in his way. The road to the deepest darkness is paved with good intentions.

Master Narix is voiced in the English dub by Johnny Yong Bosch.

The Lost Masters - The six Masters who accompanied Narix in forming the Luminous Vanguard were Avali, Fura, Gorgeyo, Jelus, Ecaed, and the now deceased Luxu. Aside from Luxu, the only truly prominent Master is the young Avali, whose pure heart and convictions to doing good by others for the cause of light enabled her to become one of the new Princesses of Heart. More than the others she has doubts about the rightness of the Vanguard's course, but tends to quickly dispell those doubts and show why a pure heart of light can be incredibly dangerous if exploited by the wrong crowd.

In the English dub, Avali is voiced by Jenna Ortega, Fura by Travis Willingham, Gorgeyo by Matthew Mercer, Jelus by Katelyn Gault, and Ecaed by Adam McArthur (and Luxu by Hector Elizondo).

Justice Minister Frollo - Having lost his authority in La Cite des Lumieres, Judge Frollo was beckoned out from his world by the Lost Masters, who annointed him as Minister of Justice to lead the test run faction of the Luminous Vanguard, with the leftover Nightmare energy Frollo had attained granting him the power to control and exploit the Demi-Deterged. Gladly compliant with the Vanguard's mission to purge the World of darkness but holding himself in such esteem that he frequently changes the course of plans without the Lost Masters' imput, Frollo's broad defining of what is sinful sees him seeking the destruction of many Disney villains and Disney good guys alike, as all this grows and enhances his own heart’s darkness yet he remains ignorant or in denial of it due to his sense of self-righteousness.

Frollo is voiced in the English dub by Timothy E. Brummud.

Evanesse' - A very different sort of adversary Ephemer finds himself faced with later in his quest. Created as a Hollow Replica by the late Xehanort, he's inadvertedly found and given life by Ephemer, making him a Xehanort replica whose essence is but a pale copy of what came from Ephemer's heart. Calling himself Evanessé, he seeks to find his own aim and to define his place in the World, but plagued by self doubt that he can live up to his own expectations for existing and by the specter of Xehanort, he comes to resent life and decides he just wants everything around him to disappear into nothingness...

Evanesse' is voiced in the English dub by Dylan Sprouse.

Fritz and the other kids greet Michael, the big guy in green and the little girl in pink; Fritz retracts his hook from Mike's neck and grins. 

"Did you enjoy hearing us chat? Is there anything you wanna add? You know, most people walk up and try to make conversation." Fritz says, looking his plastic hook over as the blonde girl steps forward.

"Hi, Mike - um... How are you feeling? it's been a bit since we saw you." Michael looks the girl over, with light skin, curled blonde hair in a ponytail, with pale blue eyes. He couldn't seem to name her until the tall guy rested a hand on her shoulder.

"Hey, Susie, it's all good. He's here now, right?" he asked her. Susie nodded. Oh. Susie, Chica. Fritz, Susie... and he stares at the big guy, dark-skinned, flat top hairstyle, chubby stature, and mellow aura. "Yeah, It's just been two days, you know? Oh, Mike... do you think Gabriel and I can call your brother later when we get home?" Susie asks with a look of concern. Michael knows now. Fritz, Susie, and Gabriel. Foxy, Chica, and Freddy.

"Oh - uh. Of course, you can. Do you have the home phone?" Mike has yet to determine if the phone number he used to know would work here, but it's worth trying. Gabriel gave a simple thumbs up to confirm they had the number, oh good, he didn't have to give one that likely didn't exist here. Mike can feel a piercing stare being delivered, and he'll find Fritz is giving him the staredown.

"Are you okay, Fritz?" He finds it odd that the ginger boy gave him such heavy eyes. Did he do something? What are the relationships between them here? Fritz is silent momentarily, pockets his free hand, and lifts his hook. "Evan and Lizzy's birthday is a few weeks after Charlie's and Sammy's. I'm going to get him the best gift ever!" He suddenly declares, to which Michae'ls brow raises.

"Cool? Neat? I mean, I'm sure they'll appreciate any gift you give them." "Let's have a competition! whoever gets Evan the best gift is the better older brother!" Oh. Huh? That was unexpected, but Fritz did mention Evan... So that's all? A sibling friendship sounds nice. Michael shakes his head. "No need. I'm sure he wouldn't want us to fight over him." Mike tries, but Fritz swings the hook in the air with a 'Yar.' "No! It must be a competition! Maybe we'll even see who the number one Foxy fan is, too!" Oh, here he goes again.

Michael will sigh and offer his hand. Why not? It's a friendly competition anyway.

The children extend a few words; ultimately, they tell Mike about how Evan overate with Jerry, their friend Jeremy. He got sick and had to go home, Lizzie insisted.

Go home.

Michael wants to see them again. He wants to go home, too.

He gives a goodbye and hurries back toward Parts & Service when he sees his father exiting and talking with Henry; the two were always close, weren't they? William is smiling ear to ear; he hardly saw him genuinely smile when he was young, and seeing this was abysmal. This is a weird dream so far. Michael approaches the pair and gently speaks to his father; while he seems so friendly here, he's feeling himself shake slightly.

"Dad? Can we go home? I want to go home..." asked softly as William's silver eyes met Michael's and stared before he reached out - Michael flinched but didn't move and felt the man's large hand tousling his hair this way and that. "'Course we can! I just finished chatting some big stuff with Hen here. Want to pick up some Mc. Donald's on the way home, champ?"

Michael's about to respond when he feels arms wrap around him, and he's being clung onto. His head turning, he sees it's Charlie. "Going home? I'll see you later then, Mikey!" He feels William's hand remove itself from his hair, and he removes Charlie's arms from himself. "God, careful Charlie! What if we fell?" he questions her, which gets a big smile from the girl. "Then we'd be falling, easy!" Well, he can't argue with that.

Charlie stares at him before she tilts her head; it seems she has a question she wants to ask, and Michael wants to hear it - but Henry rests a hand on her shoulder. "Now, now, let's not keep Michael here any longer. You can see him tomorrow." He can tell she wants to argue for a moment but relents and steps back toward her father. "Bye, Mikey." "Bye, Charlie. See you."

The teen follows his father out of the diner, seeing Sammy peering from one of the arcade games, throwing a glare his way as he exits. What is that about?

William guides him to his Purple Imperial; getting into the driver's side, Michael takes the passenger seat. The car comes to life as William pulls out of the parking lot, and Michael's eye catches sight of the alleyway just as they pass by; he keeps his eyes on it as he remembers Charlie facedown, blood on the stone brick path beside the dumpsters. William's hand reaches and flicks the radio on, tuning it about until 'Heart of Glass' by Blondie begins to fill the car, the music swimming through the air and seeping into Michael's eardrums.

William's foot taps as he drives, mouthing along to the lyrics and looking his son's way momentarily but mainly focused on the road. "Don't you just love this song? She loves dancing." Oh, did she? Considering who he suspected to be in... her... Slowing to the menu, he hears William's window slide down; many prices and photos of food greet Michael. Wow, things were more affordable compared to the current day.

"One Big Mac meal with a large Coke, two Happy Meal burger meals, and one Quarter Pounder with cheese meal." Michael is amazed to see the prices being literal cents and dollars. He should cherish this while he can. As they retrieve the food and head home, he stares up at the big home, a two-story high, decently sized driveway with another car, which must be his mother's. They'll park, and William shuts the vehicle down to guide Michael inside with the food. From the driveway to the front door is a beautiful path of brick and flowers; his mom must have put those there again. It seemed like her, and it was stunning. When the front door opens, he's met with a slight ginger girl, hair tied half up and down with her big hair ribbon in.

"OH, woah! Mc. Donald's!" she cheers, excited. Michael shuts the door behind himself and carries the few bags that his father had him take to place them at the dining table. It's so weird.

Elizabeth. She's standing beside him and hip-bumping him aside to grab her Happy Meal box to open it, checking for her food; her nose scrunches as a pout comes to her lips. "Daddy! They put onions all over it!" She'll complain and show William the burger with the silvered onions inside; he tells her she should try it, and she may like it.  Michael can't stop watching.

Writing this on July 30th and it's currently 4:07 pm. I'm waiting for you to make your way here to pick me up so we can have our late afternoon read at the park and boba session date.

July 26th Friday: I believe we went on a boba date together at Feng Cha. Also, we both felt our feelings that day. I was on the phone with Maryanne crying all day about everything and anything. I took your tone and attitude personally like talking to me as a friend and I don't know why it hurt but I guess it's because I love it when you talk to me sweetly. After our venting session and boba date we went to Armando's then you drove me home so I can attend work tomorrow morning. You dropped me off at home at a reasonable time in order for me to get some rest before my "Monday". I also admitted my adoption in the Mexican families and the gang I've established, "vato locos" New character unlocked haha

July 27th: Saturday was your only day off and as I got home you messaged me if I would like to attend Marcus volleyball game in mission valley. Absolutley yes of course I'll love to spend time with you both. We went to 85 degree bakery and all got drinks. you and I got food items. i showed Marcus my magic trick for the first time and he enjoyed it. i failed the second time, but oh well. after boba, we took Marcus home because he really wanted to take a nap from a his first week back at school. After we dropped him off, you and I went off to do our own little adventure at the beach. we read on verity on the beach, walked the pier, and you were feeling quite naughty but I had to go home to troopie. our day ended but we continued talking throughout the night.

July 28th Sunday: You went to work and I attended a movie date with my family to see deadpol & wolverine at the LOT in La Jolla, which we seriously need to attend because it's so pretty and bougie like adults only theater. We didn't see one another so it was body day for the both of us. (body day: Michael's term for rest day. My new favorite term)

July 29th Monday: We both went to work. I ate really good and had a food coma. Musa counting down the next 6 days until I'm single and you learned cocaine is from a plant called the coca mixed and cut with baking soda to be stretched out. My lover boy was my passenger princess for the lovely evening. I drove 100 miles to come see you. I picked you up and I wanted to do a spontaneous trip to Coronado. We went to Vons and got another can of Mike's hard, no ice cream, and no mc donalds. it's ok, we found yellow roses finally. Monday you touched me at the park with other people around, very naughty. drove 100 back to your place so we can finish our business on our dark street. i didnt' get home until midnight but you helped me called in for work for the very first time because trooper fell and injured himself. his breathing was heavy and he was limping. unsure if I had to take him to the vet the next morning but I stayed home to make sure trooper was okay before the vet was needed. you were very supportive along the whole way and I appreciate your gestures.

July 30th Tuesday: Our days off from work - yours officially and I called in for trooper. Luckily trooper was good in the morning, he was a bit sore because he fell on his elbow so he was limping but he was his happy self still. my mom and I took turns taking care of trooper that day. Trooper in the care of my mom for the rest of the day, you scooped me up and took me to Marcus' volleyball practice. You actually came and got me because I lore dumped about my brother and family relationship. you witnessed me angry screaming and cussing for the first time. you picked me up earlier that day and we went to get some boba at Feng Cha in Chula Vista and read at the park for a little bit. I started reading Nail Gaiman's The Ocean At The End of The Lane. After practice, we went to Luigi's and got pizza and beer together. We both were feeling the beer, walked the pier, and then tried to get busy but your mom lectured you about drinking and bringing me over. The night was shortly ended and I had to take an uber home because your mother didn't want you to drive me home. it's ok I knew I would see you again on Thursday.

July 31st Wednesday: It's Oscar's birthday! We talked later in the day because I fell asleep on the couch with trooper while I read a few chapters of my book. i woke up at like 2pm. received a phone call from Sharon Powell and spoke to her for like 50 minutes. After the phone call, then we finally spoke. I witnessed you getting ready for the first time and this time you weren't the one needing to pick me up. It was a process seeing you bouncing up and down room to room getting ready but I enjoyed being you on the phone. I also bought movie tickets to see the new movie, it ends with us in theaters which I'm really excited for because I've been waiting for this movie to happen since the beginning of this year and the wait is finally over! we will watch it together, i do not care if i rewatch it because i highly enjoyed the book series. I worked out, ate some good dinner, read more of my book, and watched some youtube before i fell asleep. you didn't get home until like almost midnight but by the time you called me i was asleep. i called you at 3:32 a minute before 333 so it was a sign of waking up and needing to be on the phone with you. you and i both woke up a jolt of energy between the both of us feeling one another distance away. perfect timing.

Jumping to first impressions which im very shy to tell you but I'm pretty sure in due time I will tell you just I haven't told you what my first impression was of you besides how I thought u were seriously cute and how I thought u were as a trainer but this description goes deep in my inner mind.

the first day i noticed you, you wore a suit. a nice button-up your coworkers were complimenting you on. i think the first couple days you had your hair pulled back into a pony tail. i don't remember what day you wore your suit but I was checking you out and thought oh damn he looks really fucking good in his suit. i find out it was your uniform and thought damn I'm going to be working next to this guy in this suit... what a nice view to start my day. I liked Michael with this ponytail but you showed up to work with your afro out and I complimented your hair on how voluminous your hair is. you wore your hair natural so I hardly saw ponytail Michael again. i like both hair pulled back, braided - which took my breathe away because its a different hairstyle I havent seen you in before, and of course natural Michael. i like all versions of Michael. i really seriously do. i told you to always be yourself don't change and I dont plan on changing you because I like you for you! you is what made me fall in like for you!!!

August 1st Thursday: You went to work and it was still my day off. I went on a nice walk with trooper, got some coffee and veggie plate, finished my book, and got ready to see you for Marcus' volleyball game. National Girlfriend day and we celebrated by just being with one another I didnt ask for anything special or anything was planned specifically we just did our usual after dropping Marcus off at home. but we actually got fast food for the first time Mcdonalds and burgerking. once we gathered our meal we head to the beach and ate together, talked, and kissed. our kissing always leads to us being intimate. i love having a partner that is attracted to me. it's a feeling only you've given me and I appreciate you for making me feel seen and admired. i mean what I say that my feelings for you is new to me and something I've never felt before for anyone else, truly. i make you feel good verbally, emotionally, and mentally and in return you pleasure me to show me how good I make you feel inside. you love making love to me, you're inside me and I feel like heaven to you. together we feel at home. just right.

I will continue August 2nd another day another time. now it's time for me to go get trooper and walk him around the block, eat some breakfast, read, drink plenty of fluids, think about getting some more of that delicious coffee I had yesterday, work out, and await for your call. i pray and hope today is a good day for both of us. it is truly another blessing to wakeup again and see you another day. hear from you again. i am so blessed to have you in my life. i appreciate you and I value you. i see my life with you.

Can You Believe What Michael Cohen Just Said at the Trump Trial?

The star witness in the former President’s criminal trial is also the most aggrieved and seemingly unreliable one.

After Michael Cohen, Donald Trump’s former lawyer and fixer, was released from prison, in 2020, he became very online.

He launched a podcast, “Mea Culpa,” with the goal of righting “the wrongs he perpetuated on behalf of his former boss,” according to the show’s description on Apple Podcasts.

Early episodes featured Rosie O’Donnell and Anthony Scaramucci discussing the cult of Trump; more recently, Cohen had brought on the Navy cryptologist turned cable-news commentator Malcolm Nance and the former Trump ghostwriter Tony Schwartz.

On TikTok, Cohen has posted gleefully about the prospect of the former President, who is currently on trial in Manhattan, going to prison. (“Trump 2024? More like Trump twenty to twenty-four years,” he said during one of his nightly live streams.)

On X, Cohen has even started openly praising the current President.

“Thank you @POTUS @JoeBiden,” he wrote, in response to an interview that Biden did with CNN about the protests on college campuses.

“There is no place in this country, or the world, for anti-semitism, racism or hate!”

He who once endeavored to own the libs has set out to court them.

Though this strategy has earned Cohen a decent audience on social media—more than six hundred thousand followers on X, and nearly three hundred thousand on TikTok, where his live-stream viewers have been sending him donations—it presents a problem for the prosecutors in Trump’s criminal trial, who are relying on Cohen as their star witness.

In 2018, Cohen pleaded guilty to tax evasion and campaign-finance violations, in connection with hush money that he paid to the adult-film actress Stormy Daniels before the 2016 Presidential election.

He has now testified that Trump expressly asked him to do this.

Basically, the case against the former President is riding on the willingness of a jury to believe the words of a notorious turncoat—a man who went from vowing to “take a bullet” for Trump to writing memoirs literally titled “Disloyal” and “Revenge.”

A man used to bluffing, bootlicking, and bullying for a living, who has also admitted to lying to Congress.

A man who has nothing left to lose by testifying against his old boss.

Back in 2019, there were lawyers in the Manhattan District Attorney’s office who were opposed to bringing the case against Trump on the ground that it would have to rely too heavily on Cohen, who was unreliable.

“He struck me as a somewhat feral creature,” one former prosecutor, who found Cohen credible, wrote. The first month of Trump’s trial has been, in some ways, a long setup for Cohen’s testimony, with prosecutors calling other witnesses in the hope of corroborating in advance as much as they could of what would later come out of Cohen’s mouth. Many of these witnesses could not resist taking shots at Cohen. Hope Hicks, Trump’s former communications aide, said that Cohen was a “fixer” only in the sense that “he first broke it.”

Keith Davidson, Stormy Daniels’s former lawyer, referred to Cohen as a “pants-on-fire kind of guy.”

Even Cohen’s former First Republic banker, Gary Farro, acknowledged that Cohen was a difficult customer. “Everything was urgent with Michael Cohen,” he said.

Cohen may have been “highly excitable,” as Davidson put it, but prosecutors need jurors to believe that he wasn’t so excitable that he then went rogue in covering up a scandal for the future President.

It doesn’t help that he always appears shifty, even on the witness stand—his eyebrows sit high on his face, making him look like a basset hound, and one brow naturally arches about an inch above the other.

On Monday, his first day on the stand, he wore a light-pink tie.

“He said to me, ‘This is a disaster, total disaster,’ ” Cohen told the court, describing Trump’s reaction to finding out that, in the aftermath of the “Access Hollywood” tape’s release, Daniels was shopping around a story about having sex with him in 2006. “

‘Women are going to hate me,’ ” Cohen continued, mimicking Trump’s intonation.

“‘Guys may think it’s cool, but this is going to be a disaster for the campaign.’ ” Cohen said that Trump instructed him to hammer out a deal to buy the rights to the story from Daniels and to delay payment for as long as possible: “What he had said to me is ‘What I want you to do is just push it out as long as you can. Just get past the election, because, if I win, it has no relevance, I will be President. If I lose, I don’t even care.’ ”

These quotes sound like Trump.

But no other witness can corroborate them.

When it comes to these and other conversations between Cohen and his old boss, prosecutors can only offer jurors Cohen’s word.

To try to give them a sense of who they were listening to, the Assistant District Attorney Susan Hoffinger prompted Cohen to speak about his childhood on Long Island, as the son of Holocaust survivors, about the heady early days of his employment at the Trump Organization, and about his dismay in late 2016 when he found out that Trump had cut the size of his annual bonus.

“I was truly insulted, personally hurt by it,” Cohen said. “Didn’t understand it. Made no sense.”

Last week, when Stormy Daniels took the stand, Hoffinger struggled to control the actress’s testimony.

Judge Juan Merchan became frustrated with the amount of graphic detail that Daniels gave about her sexual encounter with Trump—missionary position, no condom—and Trump’s lawyers asked for a mistrial.

There was reason to expect that Cohen’s testimony would be equally dramatic: Trump’s lawyers had already complained to the judge about Cohen bashing the former President on TikTok while Trump himself is under a gag order that prohibits him from posting about Cohen and the other witnesses in the case.

But Cohen’s testimony on Monday was surprisingly subdued.

He kept his answers to Hoffinger’s questions short and to the point, accepted her premises, and often looked to her for approval when he was done responding.

“Did you at times during your work for the Trump Organization, for Mr. Trump, bully people for him?” Hoffinger asked. “Yes, Ma’am,” Cohen said. “Why did you do that?” she asked, to which Cohen replied, “The only thing that was on my mind was to accomplish the task to make him happy.”

Online, Cohen may still be a feral creature, but in court he seemed thoroughly domesticated. (We have yet to see how he fares during cross-examination.)

Trump, who has pleaded not guilty in the case, spent much of the day with his eyes closed.

He has appeared to doze through many of his days in court, but he seemed especially determined to play it cool with his old lawyer on the stand.

He didn’t whisper much in his attorneys’ ears, or slap them on the arm to get their attention.

At times, he looked engrossed as he read through documents that he’d brought with him to the defense table.

His lawyers objected only sparingly as Cohen testified on Monday, and called for no sidebar conversations with the judge.

The Trump courtroom has become an unofficial venue for Trump World courtiers.

On Monday, Trump was accompanied to court by Senators J. D. Vance and Tommy Tuberville.

On Tuesday, North Dakota’s governor, Doug Burgum, the former Presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy, and Representative Byron Donalds were all in attendance.

I wondered if, as they watched Cohen get questioned, they considered the possibility of their own future of apostasy.

Trump is always Trump, but his hangers-on are all a wrong turn or two from becoming Michael Cohens.

Earlier in the trial, Keith Davidson, Daniels’s former lawyer who worked with Cohen to arrange the hush-money payment, recalled talking to Cohen during the Presidential transition in late 2016.

Cohen had been dreaming of a big White House job, but he ultimately settled for the non-governmental title of personal attorney to the President.

“I thought he was gonna kill himself,” Davidson said, of Cohen.

On Monday, Hoffinger asked Cohen if he had been disappointed not to get the job of White House chief of staff.

“I didn’t believe the role was right for me or that I was even competent to be chief of staff,” he said. “But I wanted to at least be considered. It was more about my ego than anything.”

Georgia court to hear Trump appeal in October

Trial likely after election

Former President Donald Trump’s appeal to remove the prosecutor in his Georgia election racketeering case has been scheduled for Oct. 4, strongly suggesting the case will not be tried before the Nov. 5 election.

'There’s no chance for trial before the election,' said Ashleigh Merchant, the lawyer who launched the disqualification issue by filing the motion to disqualify Willis on behalf of her client Michael Roman, a former Trump 2020 campaign official who is one of Trump’s co-defendants.

Trump sought to remove Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis from the case because she had a romantic relationship and traveled with a prosecutor she hired to help manage the case, Nathan Wade.

Fulton County Superior Judge Scott McAfee rebuked Willis in March for a 'tremendous lapse in judgment' but ruled she could remain on the case if Wade withdrew.

Wade quit the same day.

But Trump has continued to argue Willis had a conflict of interest in paying Wade six figures and benefiting from the travel.

The Georgia Court of Appeals docketed the case Monday without setting a precise date for arguments.

McAfee hasn’t set a date for the trial.

But when Willis proposed an August start to the trial that could last five months, McAfee said it would be problematic to overlap with the election.

Even if an appeals decision were reached immediately, it is highly unlikely the trial could begin before the election.

Trump and 14 co-defendants are charged with trying to steal the 2020 election by asking public officials to overturn the results of the election that President Joe Biden won and recruiting alternate Republican electors to support Trump instead.

Four co-defendants have pleaded guilty.

Clark Cunningham, a professor of law and ethics at Georgia State University College of Law, said the docketing makes it virtually impossible for the trial to proceed before the November election, even if presiding Judge Scott McAfee continues to allow both sides to do some preparatory work while the appeal of Willis’ disqualification is underway.

'I think the only thing that could save this case from not going to trial until after the election, possibly, would be for the district attorney to do as I had suggested back in January, which is to take a temporary leave of absence,' Cunningham told USA TODAY.

'Whether that would at this stage moot the appeal is a little bit hard to say, especially since Trump and other defendants have argued that the entire DA’s office should be disqualified.'

'It’s very unfortunate, in my opinion, that the district attorney didn’t avoid this problem when it first came up, like she could have done,' Cunningham said.

Opening Tip - Defining Greatness

Greatness is defined as the quality of being great in size, skill, achievement, or power. In basketball, fans and media alike tend to equate greatness with championships. 

This obviously is a flawed method for evaluating the best talent to ever grace an NBA court.  Shaq was the largest and most physically dominant player, yet he is not even the greatest center of all time. 

Lebron James has competed in 10 NBA Finals, but only won 4.  Bill Russell won 11 titles as a player, and 2 more as a coach. 

All of these players could be named as the greatest of all time, but we have reserved the coronation for one player. 

There exists only one player in history with; 6 NBA Finals appearances, a record of 6-0 in the Finals, and winning three in a row twice. 

No player has had or ever will have, the overall impact globally on the sport of basketball the way he did. 

Based solely on statistics, this could be a debate until the end of time, but whatever, Michael Jordan is the best of The 10 Greatest Players In NBA History. 

They Cut Michael Jordan?

Michael Jordan was only 5’ 11” in high school, and was actually considered too short to make his varsity team. That would not be the last they would see of Jordan. 

Working relentlessly in the summer, stringing together a bunch of games where he lit up the scoreboard for more than 40 as a junior varsity player, and growing 4 inches, Michael would make the varsity squad the following year. 

Averaging over 25 points per game in each of his last two seasons in high school, and being named to play in the Mc Donald’s All-American game (a game featuring the highest recruited and overall best players in the United States), all indications were that Jordan was coming. 

College Days - Michael at UNC

Michael would continue to grow his game, which was a combination of smoothness and precision, while he waited for the certain flood of recruitment letters that would be coming his way. Jordan was sought after by some of the country’s best basketball programs such as Duke, Syracuse, and Virginia. 

In the end, Michael chose legendary coach Dean Smith and the University of North Carolina Tar Heels.

Since this article is about NBA players and their greatness, Jordan’s career NCAA statistics are irrelevant.
