#More exactly: Atsushi is the protagonist.

One of my shin soukoku reunion theories (delusions) is Fukuchi telling Akutagawa to attack Atsushi, and he does. He jumps on him, and Atsushi isn't putting up a fight, and Akutagawa's going to bite his neck, and then...! He stops, fangs just inches away from Atsushi's neck, and asks, "Why didn't you fight back?" And Atsushi smiles and responds, "I trust you."
This scenario lives in my head rent free
HOW TO GIVE ME AN HEART ATTACK VIA ASK A GUIDE BY OP
Tumblr media
No seriously, your mind, this is amazing and the best concept ever and the perfect scenario and I'm fully ditching canon in favour of this. The Atsushi growth it expresses I'm on the floor screaming!!!! The oh so needed character development, Atsushi truly starting to trust Akutagawa the same way has Akutagawa trusted him!!! Consolidating Atsushi's act of faith of chapter 87 instead of erasing his development! Atsushi's growth in finally letting go of the prejudices he holds against Akutagawa! Them being the perfect team Dazai always knew they would have become. I'm sobbing. Op I trust you to handle the characters more than author themselves

A look at the struggles Atsushi faces throughout the series, and how he grows to resent the justice he was forced to learn. As well as his connections and contrasts with Akutagawa.
Tumblr media
Atsushi is very different from a typical protagonist, who try's to save everybody they can, and never wants to kill anyone. Because he didn't develop this mindset from an inspiring, kind mentor; or from some innate sense of justice, or even from just his own hardships.
It was literally beaten into him through his whole childhood.
graphic depiction of abuse ahead:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Atsushi is compelled to help people. I defiantly think part of it is that he is just a kind person in general, but It is also a compulsion that he cannot refuse.
He is forced to disregard his own feelings and safety, he suffers so much pain, but he can never refuse, which is why he views it as a curse.
In BSD killing is not treated with the same 'good people can never, ever be willing to kill someone' that a lot of shows treat it as.
The entire ADA minus Kunikida was willing to try and kill Mori to save Fukuzawa. Fukuzawa has killed in the past, and told Kunikida to shoot Dazai if he sensed any evil in his heart(Dazai Osamu's Entrance Exam). Kunikida has been shown to be willing to kill if absolutely necessary
Tumblr media
I point this out to show that Atsushi's refusal to kill is not just 'because he's a good guy and would never do that'. We see in BEAST that, if twisted a bit, he can be made to kill without hesitation. His refusal to kill comes from a much darker place, and makes him a perfect foil to...
Akutagawa.
Tumblr media
Akutagawa and Atsushi have incredibly similar histories, It's literally spelled out in BEAST that the two of them have more in common then they have with anyone else. Both children raised in hell. But there was one key difference, The value they saw in the lives of others.
I've already talked about how Atsushi was raised to think that his own life had no worth, and only the lives of others mattered. But for Akutagawa it was the opposite. He grew up in the slums, where every stranger was a potential threat to him, his friends and sister. He had to learn to kill without hesitation, and to see no value in anyone else's life.
Dazai only made this worse, telling Akutagawa that if he couldn't defeat anyone in his path, that he had no right to live. And brutally punishing any sign of weakness.
Tumblr media
Both Akutagawa and Atsushi search desperately for validation, and the right to keep living. They walk on opposite sides of a mirror, each only seeing half the picture, neither willing to see themself in the other.
Which is why they can both show the other exactly what they need to see.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The two of them hate each other so much because they are the same ,they each embody what the other most hates about himself and this is why they can each teach to other to overcome that hatred and to see the whole picture they were both denied as children.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Their growth over this past few arcs; with The death of the orphanage director, Akutagawa that killing everything won't solve all his problems, Atsushi having to stand up and pull himself together to save the ADA.
Akutagawas greatest flaws were his short-sightedness, and inability to see beyond himself and learn from his mistakes.
While Atsushi's greatest flaws were his crippling anxiety and indecision, as well as inability to let go of his past.
Opposite ends of the same spectrum, so now they must guide each other to the middle and find a balance.
Tumblr media
Finally, the 'promise not to kill anyone for six months' with this, Atsushi is showing Akutagawa the value that can be seen in the lives of others. We see this in the security guard Akutagawa spared being the one to distract Fukuchi and let Atsushi escape. Akutagawa seems to have truly grown a lot since he and Atsushi last saw each other. But what about Atsushi?
Spoilers for chapter 107:
I think that Atsushi will kill Akutagawa. We know that Akutagawa died before he was converted into a vampire, and with his lung condition being established just before then, even if they find a way to revert him, he would still be nearly at the end of his life.
I think that Akutagawa will probably temporarily regain control of his body, but be unable to revert fully, so he will ask Atsushi for that duel he promised him. It would even parallel Atsushi "killing" Shibusawa in TDA, since both were technically already dead to begin with.
Atsushi taught Akutagawa how to value lives, and the patience to consider his actions and Akutagawa will teach Atsushi the conviction to take them and how overcome the guilt he feels within himself. each one going from black and white, to grey.

One of the things I adore about Bungo Stray dogs is how it challenges our ideas about what a “main character” is. Atsushi is undeniably the protagonist, the story begins when his hero’s journey begins and follows it. It somehow manages to fit the hero’s journey perfectly and challenge it at the the same time by simply expanding the scope of the audience’s perspective. Atsushi is the protagonist and we watch every part of his hero’s journey unfold, but we also get immense insight into the mentor/shapeshifter’s backstory and plots.
It’s like if the Harry Potter books followed both Harry and Dumbledore from the beginning, with flashbacks to Dumbledore’s past. If that happened Harry would become, in the reader’s eyes, a piece on Dumbledore’s chessboard because we would see all his machinations from the beginning. That’s exactly what happens in BSD with Dazai. Instead of us seeing Atsushi as the main character who everything revolves around we see Dazai as the mastermind who shapes all the events of the story around Atsushi. Instead of seeing Dazai as a mysterious mentor figure with a dark past shrouded in mystery that gives Dazai wisdom of experience we see him as a flawed person with dubious morals who is trying to be good but doesn’t know how, someone who’s been hurt terribly and hurt others even worse. In turn, Atsushi’s character appears more naive and pathetic, his accomplishments and growth don’t seem like his so much as Dazai’s. He behaved exactly as Dazai anticipated because Dazai manipulated him and the situation for that to happen. It makes Atsushi a tool for Dazai, makes his accomplishments Dazai’s. But if the story was told to us omitting all of Dazai’s behind the scenes manipulations Atsushi would feel like any other protagonist. Dazai would feel like Dumbledore, helping from the shadows rather than pulling strings from them.
Anyway, I’m a lit nerd if you can’t tell and I think Asagiri is a genius.

BSD: An Absurdist Analysis - Chapter 111.5
"In the budding darkness, a blossom of hope"
[BSD Absurdism Masterpost]
This is the chapter where the tides start to change for our protagonists, which is exemplified by this lovely chapter art of Dazai along with the quote: "In the budding darkness, a blossom of hope."
Tumblr media
And really, having hope is what absurdism is often about. In order to not give up/give in to an absurd reality, one must have some sort of motivation to keep going, that motivation often being hope.
We open the chapter with finding out Aya did not, in fact, die! She had previously jumped off the building in a last-ditch attempt to remove the sword from Bram's body, and her final act of rebellion against a seemingly hopeless situation paid off.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Meanwhile, the missiles have been stopped and Ranpo and Atsushi are seemingly safe!
And then there's Dazai and Fyodor.
The fundamental difference between the two is that while they're both excellent strategists that treat life like a game of chess, Fyodor needs to have ultimate control over every situation, whereas Dazai is able to maintain his control through the power of his relationships with others. Dazai took advantage of Fyodor's weakness of needing control by allowing him to think that he had control over Chuuya as a vampire, when in reality his trust of Chuuya and their partnership succeeded.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fyodor's need for control in an absurd reality is paradoxical, because if a reality is inherently meaningless and absurd, then one attempting to control that is a fruitless effort. Dazai's relinquishment of control and relying on basically "the power of friendship" seems like a ridiculous tactic, but... it worked because he put his faith in the people around him and left it up to chance.
(You can read more of my thoughts on Fyodor and Dazai in my initial 111.5 post from back when the chapter first got released)
As for Fukuzawa and Fukuchi, I don't have an absurdist analysis on their situation in this chapter, at least. Fukuzawa strikes Fukuchi with the sword, and realizing too late that this is exactly what he wanted him to do and sending them into Poe's novel. The conversation they'll have after this probably leans a bit more into the absurdist storytelling, but if I'm being honest, this part of the current plot is what I understand least and I'll need to actually read their conversation to make sense of it.
Please ignore that this analysis is literal months late, I'm a student with many obligations and this unfortunately fell onto the back-burner <3

do we know how old atsushi was when dazai took him in as his protege in beast? picked him up? (i don't remember if atsushi got to 18 and ran to yokohama like in canon or if it was earlier)
Was already discussed about here, quite inconclusively 😔
In Beast, Dazai picked up Atsushi right after he ditched Akutagawa (“I think I’ll go with that other guy for my right-hand man”, page 20*). Akutagawa was 14/15 years old then, so that would place Atsushi around 12/13 if they keep their canon age differences. For further confirmation, Atsushi is stated to have joined the mafia “four and a half years ago” (page 105*), which is exactly the timeskip between Akutagawa and Dazai's first meeting and the main events.
I really struggle to figure out akuatsu's ages in Beast. Because the Heartless Cur events (that is the opening chapter of Beast) supposedly took place at the same time in Akutagawa's life, so when he was 14/15 (I made some considerations about this, and I'm pretty confident that's his age at the time Dazai recluted him. Akutagawa is 16 in Dark Era, Dazai 18. Dazai is 16 in Stormbringer / Dragon's Head Conflict, and he definitely couldn't have taken on Akutagawa before that, but it's also fair to assume Akutagawa stayed at the very least one year under Dazai's influence - most likely two -, otherwise he wouldn't have had time to develop such a strong attachment to him). There's a timeskip of four and half years in the opening Beast chapter, which would place Akutagawa at 18/19 years of age in Beast. Which in turn, since it's fair to assume akuatsu's age difference stays the same in Beast, would make Atsushi 16/17 in Beast, which is CRAZY and something I refuse to believe in lmao. Beast Atsushi feels so much more mature than his canon counterpart, I really have an hard time trying to picture him as being younger. Not to mention Beast has an overall more adult vibe to it, so I struggle to see its protagonists being so young? However the hypothesis of Atsushi and Akutagawa switching age difference in Beast doesn't convince me either (Beast is supposed to be an alternative timeline) so... Idk. I'm sorry I couldn't help, as far as I'm concerned there's no canon confirmation of Atsushi and Akutagawa's Beast ages 😞
* Pages references are made according to the official English translation of the Beast novel

Do you mind if I ask your top 10 favorite characters (can be male or female) from all of the media that you loved (can be anime/manga, books, movies or tv series)? And why do you love them? Sorry if you've answered this question before.
Whew. This one is going to be DIFFICULT
I’ll try to only name 10 (in no particular order)
If you asked me the same question tomorrow, my answer would be completely different.
C’est parti!
1- Edward Elric: FMAB single-handedly changed my life. I was 14 when I watched it for the first time and I was going through a very dark phase. To see how that boy went from self-hate and despair to someone strong enough to accept and embrace his limitations as a human being was exactly the type of media I needed. I needed to be humbled and FMAB did that for me.
2-Miria from Claymore: She might have been my bisexual awakening tbh (or maybe Olivier Mira Armstrong. I made my friends call me “General” at one point. Also, I covered my eye with my braids lol). Miria is the perfect blend of charisma, authority and kindness. She’s what I want to be.
3-Katniss Everdeen. The Hunger Games changed my life and gave me a better understanding of politics. Something that even my dad (a politician) couldn’t do. I love Katniss because she’s so human. She’s a mess, she’s a trailblazer but she’s just a girl. Her character is brilliant because she’s just a girl. Many authors tried to copy that but failed miserably cause they wouldn’t let their protagonist be just a girl.
4- Killua my son. I have so many things to say about that child but I’ll keep it short. I am moved by the amount of love he has in that little assassin heart but I was ever more moved by his ability to step away from his relationship with Gon and find himself. He inspired me to do the same.
5- Gon cause they’re a unit. Gon is extremely complex. So complex that most dudes don’t understand him. I love complex.
6-Akemi Homura cause she never did anything wrong in her entire life and she’s perfect.
7-Aisha from Winx Club. She’s Black, she’s a princess, she battled to save her people from Valtor’s destructive hands, she fought against her own anxieties and timidity to become a better version of herself, she’s a great dancer, she’s incredible in everything she does, she’s one the most interesting characters of the series thanks to her character development, her ideals, her strengths and vulnerabilities.
8-Geto cause he’s an idiot, a fucking loser, a monk, a fraud, a virgin, a whore, a single dad, a certified dickhead and everything to me. Also Gojo.
9-Makise Kurisu. She’s a girl, she’s a genius, she’s a pervert, she’s in love with a mad scientist (I loooooove the entire Steins gate cast)
10-Suzaku Kururugi. Many people hate him for siding with the colonisers and betraying his bf but to me he’s the most interesting character in the anime. He’s so full of regrets about killing his father that he tries to convince himself that peace really is the answer. It’s giving sunk cost mentality ft reaction formation. Freud would have a field day with him lol
Honorable mentions: Hinata Shouyo,Thorfinn, Ash Lynx, Peeta, Lelouch, Atsushi Nakajima, Satsuki Kiryuin, Simon from GL, Elektra from pose, Will from Hannibal and many others

Digimon Top Tamer Tournament- Video Game/Manga Bracket
Tumblr media
Yesterday we unveiled the brackets for the anime side of our Top Tamer Tournament. Today we’re giving you a preview of the Video Game and Manga tournament. Remarkable that there were almost as many entries, but between C’Mon Digimon and Seekers, there are 64 more humans vying for supremacy. They do have to be human: sorry Kyoko. Following the poll earlier this week, first round matchups are primarily within each story. Regions are themed… some more rigidly than others. Let’s take the tour!
Tumblr media
The Hidden Server is our manga-exclusive region, as C’Mon Digimon, V-Tamer, Next, Xros Wars, and Dreamers square off. In the first round, we’ve got matches between Neo and the Alias III while Bun’s tamer Kentarou meets Nene’s manga-exclusive sister Kotone. Since we don’t know exactly what we’ll get with Seekers, its two reps are split between here and a game-based region. Eiji and Loogamon meet Kouta from Chronicle… that was the last time we were promised a big story tie-in to a toy product. Anyone remember Chronicle?
Tumblr media
The GIGO Server is for the World games, so a lot of Re:Digitize and Next Order here, along with the protagonists from the Playstation games. Mameo’s appearance in Next Order adds some familiarity to his first round match with Kouta, while Akira and Atsushi (aka Junior) have their hands full with the Next Order heroes and Rina. Re:Arise and Survive matches are sprinkled across these three regions, and GIGO pits Survive’s Team Mom against its Team Dad and our first of several matches between siblings.
Tumblr media
The City Server is one of the two regions based on Story games, so it’s a lot of Cyber Sleuth, although Mirei can’t help but cross over, this time meddling with Re:Arise’s Digital World orphan Mon. Highlights here include Erika and Yu from Hackers Memory vying for Keisuke’s attention, Yuuko and Fei in a lover’s spat, a proper Hudie battle, and Michi from Re:Arise living out every service worker’s dream in getting to fight her boss.
Tumblr media
The EDEN Server is the other Story-based region, leading off with a tag team match between the generic protagonists of Cyber Sleuth and the generic protagonists of Lost Evolution. Winner plays the senpai-kohai Re:Arise match, the closest thing this March Madness ripoff will get to actual basketball content. There’s also a hacker fight between Cyber Sleuth and Seekers, a battle of Survive’s siblings, and Nokia vs. Date, who are apparently cousins according to Habu.
Hidden Server and EDEN Server polls start Thursday with GIGO Server and City Server starting Friday. Polls will run for a week on both Tumblr and Twitter, with votes combined. The next round starts a day later. Also make sure to check out the Anime Tournament running concurrently!
If anyone’s interested in the fine print on the selection process and how we got it down to 64, I’ll be happy to post it, but most questions for this bracket can probably be fielded with “actual humans only.”

Gathering of the Greatest Gumshoes - Number 22
Welcome to A Gathering of the Greatest Gumshoes! During this month-long event, I’ll be counting my Top 31 Favorite Fictional Detectives, from movies, television, literature, video games, and more!
SLEUTH-OF-THE-DAY’S QUOTE: “I am on a mission to protect the world’s idiots!”
Number 22 is…Ranpo Edogawa, from Bungo Stray Dogs.
Tumblr media
“Bungo Stray Dogs” takes place in a world where many have gained superhuman abilities, so much so that it’s sort of become part of everyday life. (My Hero Academia is looking on with interest.) The plot focuses on the eternal conflict between two different organizations: the Armed Detective Agency, and the Port Mafia. The Agency is a group of superhuman private detectives, who use the combination of their sleuthing skills and their special powers to try and disrupt the Port Mafia’s activities…except when the Mafia and the Agency have to work together to down WORSE criminals, but that’s another story for another time. Interestingly, all of the major characters in the series take their names from famous authors, and have abilities, personalities, and demeanors inspired by those writers, their lives, and/or their greatest works.
Much like with Abby from NCIS, I’m sort of cheating by not actually including the main character of the show in this case. However, there’s a good reason for it: the main character of the series is a young man named Atsushi Nakajima, whose superhuman ability allows him to transform – either partially or entirely – into a massive white tiger. While he’s a really great protagonist, he’s actually not truly a great DETECTIVE: the way the show works essentially makes Atsushi to be the resident Watson of the team, so to speak. He’s actually someone who is LEARNING to be a good detective, from the various other characters on the team, who all have abilities and methods that help them solve problems in unique ways, and are all more experienced.
By far my favorite character in the show, and the most “classic” detective in the Agency, is Ranpo Edogawa. Now…I’m going to be honest and say that I know NOTHING about the author this character is named after. With most of the characters who are named after Japanese writers, I can’t tell you a THING about their inspirations, and I’m frankly not in the mood to do the necessary research to see how they reflect those writers and their works. Thankfully, in Ranpo’s case, I don’t really think I need to. Not only does he stand up perfectly fine on his own in general, but the way he functions seems to be more…universal, in terms of the kind of detective he is and the twists on the formula he presents.
Ranpo is an almost stereotypically Holmesian detective: he’s arrogant, at times childish, a bit mercurial, and absolutely brilliant. His power is referred to as “Super Deduction”: whenever Ranpo puts on a special pair of glasses, his perception and intelligence are supposedly given a big boost, allowing him to solve crimes with almost absurd quickness. In one episode, he literally solves a crime in less than a minute! Because of this incredibly “broken” ability, Ranpo has a big head about himself. He’s found openly and constantly declaring himself to be the best detective in the Agency, pontificating on his abilities, and generally annoying Atsushi as a result.
What’s interesting, however, is that none of the other Agency members get on Ranpo’s case most of the time, and they all genuinely agree that Ranpo is their best sleuth, overall. We eventually find out the surprising reason for this is that…Ranpo doesn’t actually HAVE any superpowers. At all. The glasses are just a placebo: he isn’t superhuman, he’s literally just that smart by his own terms. It’s later revealed that Ranpo is aware of this fact (though exactly how long he’s known is unclear), but he tries to play dumb about it because he doesn’t want to admit it openly to anyone. Edogawa, you see, has a lot of hidden insecurities beneath his Holmesian demeanor: before he met Fuzukawa, the leader of the Agency, he used to think of himself as “wrong,” as someone who was misplaced in the world, so to speak. As a result, he loves the sense of family and kinship he gets as a member of the Agency. He will do anything he feels necessary to protect his friends and fellow detectives, and doesn’t want any of them to look down on him for any reason.
If all of this isn’t cool enough, then here’s one more wrinkle: Ranpo has an enemy-turned-best-friend (and self-proclaimed rival) based on Edgar Allan Poe himself. Anyone who has Poe as their rival immediately gets a LOT of brownie points from me, by default. Honestly, just for that reason ALONE, I kind of feel bad for not placing Ranpo higher. I was sorely tempted to place him in the Top 20. However, since he isn’t the main character, nor even the main detective figure - just one member of a large ensemble of sleuths - I don’t think it’s ENTIRELY fair to put him up further in the ranks. It’s the same main reason I didn’t give the aforementioned Abby higher placement. Still, he’s a lot of fun and earns a great deal of respect from this goofball. The more I see of him, the more I like him.
Tomorrow, the countdown continues with Number 21!
CLUE: “If I’m not back in five minutes…just wait longer.”

So Atsushi recognized the pain and loneliness gab was in, then gab trusted him with his backstory. He can empathize with him but ultimately decides that he can't really save gab, and tries to reason with him to stop in order to save dazai, wells and the rest of the ada.
(Of course, living in that loop is not a "real life" in his perspective, and here's where the moral dilemma goes. Who is atsushi to decide that gab has lived long enough?)
However, once he defeats him, he could see both Verne and Gab. Implying that gab, in order to find peace again, did have to leave the loop and "die".
somehow it's bittersweet, and i think atsushi did not have the intention to help 100%, his intentions were more so to survive.
i like how atsushi almost always empathizes with whoever he's against and knows exactly how to deal with other's problems. peak protagonist attitude. but he is not a complete saint either, gab himself recognized he was quite a violent person (and i love that).

I don't think Atsushi and Akutagawa team up would ever be more powerful than Chuuya and Dazai. The reason Atsushi and Aku work as the protagonists of bsd is because they are not as ridiculously op a duo as Dazai and Chuuya. What makes them work in universe is that despite not getting along their powers together are pretty stable and that makes them a great opponent because they are reliable and resilient. Chuuya and Dazai are not. Chuuya is a nuke and Dazai is the off switch/grounding force and they work on a time limit. We always know if Chuuya is in the room them winning is a foregone conclusion and its why he is needs to be physically removed from the fight entirely during majority of the canon events. Same with Dazai, unless you are just as smart and perceptive as Dazai you can't outsmart him and he too needs to be physically removed from the field. The reason skk work as protagonists in 15, stormbringer was because Chuuya had not unlocked corruption yet and were not exactly on good terms with each other while also not being stable. Skk worked as protagonists in arcs exploring their past when they werent op, they are currently the strongest duo in bsd and therefore cannot be effective protagonists.

So I had time to sleep on the last episode of bsd and I have thoughts.
So far I've seen so many different oppinions about it - so many people are exited and so many are dissapointed. I easily fit into both categories.
But my first thought was that the episode felt off .... And I'm going to try, putting that feeling into words
PACING: As always the anime is going for an olympic medal in rushing. But unlike the previous ones this one felt even more rushed. For me, I believe that has one mainreasons. 1) Ususally I marinade in the manga chapter before I watch the Anime. This time I had nothing to go off, so my brain couldn't automatically fill the gaps. -> Missing Plot/Plot holes felt a lot more present
FUKUFUKU: Alright. This is propably the part I enjoyed the most. I think it was the best way that could have ended. 10/10 Somehow managed to not feel rushed to me. Teruko coming in was suprising but not entirely unexpected. I really liked it. You can see were the most effort went into :)
Aya&Bram: This one was good as well. But I barely felt scared for Aya. Another case of rushing - nothing to outragous though, although I felt it took the emotions out of the scenes.
All in all I really enjoyed the majority of the airport Part and can very much see why people are so exited and happy about this episode.
Now for the mixed bag that is Meursault...
SOUKOKU: Here the opinions are split. Not mine though, I liked it. Does it have implicateion that I most likely haven't thought about? Yes. But as long as Dazai wasn't aware of Chuuya not being a Vampire for the entire time, I'm fine with it. It is very much Soukoku shenanigans at the finest. Still rushed as fuck and with so many open questions that the manga has to adress. So I can see why people dislike it.
FYOLAI: Oh boy ... I really disliked Fyodors death. They have to have cut something important from the manga, because it just felt wrong. I fully believe Fyodor is coming back in some way. But the death just was so unsatisfying. What do you mean, every character got an impactfull fake-out death and Fyodor just got stabbed by some no name and blown to bits?! Doesn't feel like a fitting end for the mastermind. Nikolais part was amazing though - exactly the reaction I was hoping for. Absolutely heartbraking. 10/10 for that small part.
SIGMA: AAAAAHHHHH. I'm honestly upset and absolutely livid. What do you mean, the character who just wanted a home and to be seen as more than a disposable tool got his fate revealed in a single line and was forgotten and disposed of??? What the actual fuck! I get what bones is trying to do - keeping it a mystery on what exactly happened to him. Trying to reveal absolutely nothing. But we don't even get Dazai mentioning that he has to go back into the prision for some reason? Or saying that he has something still left to do? Anything at all that hints towards Dazai remembering that Sigma existed? Truly, it fells like Sigma was abandoned and I hate it. I will be writing Angst about it.
OTHER CHARACTERS: The Montage was kind of nice, even though important characters were forgotten about (where is Jouno!). With the lack of impact of most of the characters shown it just felt kind of hollow I guess.
EPILOGUE: Why does it feel off? I honestly wouldn't be at all suprised if it was the set-up for some anime only filler content - However horrible that would be. Akutagawa was looking fancy though. And it seemed about the only relevant thing that happened to poor Atsushi this episode. For a Protagonist he was sidelined hard.
TLDR: I feel like the rushing and lack of explaining/skipping over plot details of the anime is making me hate the progression of the plot more than I could ever with manga. I'll have to wait and see.

Bsd rant (manga spoilers!)
I love how characters from BSD are written. They all have their flaws unique to them, but what’s very interesting that captivates me is how the characters view the world.
First, our beloved *clap clap* protagonist. We do not talk about the frankly horrible headmaster who did all that shit “for his own good”. I wouldn’t want to touch that with a bargepole. From what most of us can gather, Atsushi pursues justice because of the headmaster’s “one with no redeeming values as yrself have no right to live” teaching which has been drilled into him for a long time. That’s the main motivation for him, which is why the Hunting Dogs arc gave him a pretty big blow because they’re criminals now. WTF? *Tiger boy’s internal confusion*
Tumblr media
But justice is also a very thin line you set by yourself. Look at Tachihara after he realizes his justice clearly fucked him over because he chose being a HD when attacking the Black Lizard. This is exactly why I’m excited for what Teruko will reveal to Atsushi in the latest chapter – will it challenge his view on justice? What will he choose to do?
Next will be Lucy, because I’m sorta shit at analyzing and they’re more obvious. Lucy is angry at the world and those around her in a way that’s “why is the world unfair? Why just me and no one else?” Reminds me of Q a lot. She’s mad and frustrated at the world for the terrible experiences in her life – it’s like walking out on the streets and noticing that nobody carries the emotional baggage she has, and the pot of bitterness boil over. Her life hadn’t gotten much better despite being away from her personal hell and Lucy is then in the Guild, a criminal organization that seems to want her ability more than they want her. It makes sense for her to feel a sense of unfairness in her situation.
Pushkin is similar to Lucy in thinking the world is unfair. However, he uses his weak ability as an excuse to commit crimes, seeing it as revenge to people who are stronger and more powerful in terms of ability, social standing, or influence. Pushkin believes that the world will overlook his crimes as reimbursement for his weakness. It’s a very twisted way of thinking, and the manga/anime managed to show a lot about his personality and motivations despite being a minor antagonist.

Tanizaki is incredibly easy to read. He’s literally said out loud that Naomi is a god-like existence to him as far as he’s concerned. His entire life revolves around his darling little sister – so much that Tanizaki wouldn’t mind if the world were to burn as long as his sister is happy and well. I hate their canon interaction (It makes no sense) but Junichirou is my favourite character because of his obsession and passion which is influenced by his real-life counterpart. I find it incredibly fascinating that people will go to great lengths for what they believe – weird, I know.
Tumblr media
This little theory is something I thought about recently, because I love stories that overlap with reality – reason number 1 Harry Potter and Percy Jackson fascinated me that much. What if abilities used to exist, but thanks to the rat writing in the book, abilities were erased, the past present and future got rewritten because the book needs a plot? So practically everything about abilities were rewritten and the characters went on their respective ways if abilities never existed – like if Chuuya didn’t have his ability, he’d have been a regular boy in a regular home since main reason he was roped into mafia life was because of the experiments and the Sheep. Dazai would still be neck-deep in crime. Fukuzawa might still be an assassin and Mori could be an actual legal doctor. Yosano be growing up normally doing whatever career she wants (since she was originally candy shop girl). Atsushi might have a better life in the orphanage and live a decent life… The possibilities are endless.
__The end :D

tbh i’d argue discussions of good and bad aren’t what matters in bsd. like morality isn’t the topic here
the main characters don’t quite have concrete goals beyond surviving, and the antagonists all have thoroughly explored motives for their actions that you can even easily justify. but because we view the story through the lenses of the detective agency - who are being put at direct risk by said actions - we view said actions as antagonistic
and while some of these actions are Not Great, the story of bsd doesn’t shy away from showing our protagonists do awful things as well. honestly the best way i’ve seen someone put it was ironically in a joke post of atsushi saying smth along the lines of “akutagawa don’t kill these people that’s awful. we should only maim them instead”
i don’t think bsd sets out to say some great message about morality and the greatness of it, at least not as its core theme. i think everyone is morally grey because they’re just... human, and humans are naturally not purely good or purely bad. even the most horrendous acts in history were done for a reason, to the people who did them.
this is why the story is like that. it doesn’t seem exactly purposeful, sort of? like, again, i don’t think it’s meant to be a core theme, more like. this is how the story is because it’s simply well written, and you’re meant to engage with it through the lens of someone who can look past titles like “good” and “bad” and see the people instead.
while i wouldn’t say it’s exactly pointless to discuss morality in the context of bsd, it’s more like... there’s just better, more relevant things to discuss. even under this topic, i’d say it’s more relevant to go at it from the direction of “why do people do the awful things they do and what does that say about us” rather than “does this person’s reasoning justify their actions”

What episodes of BSD would you consider to be your favorites? Are there any specific scenes in them that you really like? :D
Tumblr media
Ahh this is gonna be long so I'll just kinda slide in here and answer now- I've seen every English and Japanese release out as of now, as well as most episodes in Spanish and Russian. Can confirm they have picked perfect voice actors no matter which language you watch <3
Season One
Ep. 01 Fortune Is Unpredictable and Mutable
I gotta admit, I knew about BSD long before I started this episode, so this was hardly my introduction to the anime (Looking at pictures of Dazai Osamu online, more like. |D) But most likely like most BSD fans, I've seen this episode hundreds of times. Obsessively. I love the sunset and the moonlight. I hate I mean love Dazai's dumb ass hoppin around with his hands in his pockets like copying Chuuya. (But that gets revealed much later----) and just. This episode reminds me of finally seeing Mr. Suicide moving around for the first time. He was enchantingly stupid. When I watch this episode now, I notice always that it's amateur nature is blaringly loud. It's not even a little bit daunting. It's exactly how it was when I left it and I cry OMG itrdersergsergesrgsergg
Ep. 02 A Certain Bomb
I'm.... gonna be here for a while.
I just love Atsushi in this episode so much. I guess a lot of people have an issue with his character here being too afraidy to be the protagonist, but you know that if he was all Asta strong and brave immediately after being out of the abusive orphanage for the first time ever, that would have been stupid as shit. LOL Also, he threw himself over what he thought was an active bomb. lol Soooooooo (Also I love Junichiro's performance, seeing that soft boi being so harsh and cruel for just a moment- he did great <3 If I could stand Naomi I'd congratulate her, too LOLLLLL)
Ep. 03 Yokohama Gangster Paradise
Ah yes Akutagawa (<- That's all LMAOOO)
Ep. 04 The Tragedy of the Fatalist
This is such a good episode.,,, Atsushi finally is allowed to be alive somewhere, but it threatens the lives of the people who ARE allowing his life to exist. Full Atsushi style he tries to run away. To me, this is neither brave nor cowardly of him. He has such a complex thought process but to me he wasn't "running away from the problem" OR "protecting the Armed Detective Agency". He honestly didn't know what he was doing. And he was hesitant because he was throwing himself in harms way. Idk I just love Complexsushi. XD This is such a cool episode so yeeeeeea (This is also the introduction of the strange ongoing occurrence of Dazai's disappearance whenever something horrible happens, which is for obvious reasons but ye, they never address it)
I'm gonna just list the other S1 episodes I like without giving a list bc my asker hasn't finished S1 yet. brb just gonna bold the best of the best, and add some for the best out of those! <3

What exactly is the information that Sigma took from Atsushi in exchange for the location of the Page?
This question has been haunting me from quite some time; now thanks to @vampireonastick ‘s amazing saga of Mastermind!Ango (annnd since this saga has given me major trust issues about every character in the series lol XD) I finally formed enough coherent thoughts to put this in words. Of course, I might be looking too much into it but this was fun to brainstorm :)
To start with, from almost the first chapter of the series, the spotlight has always been on Atsushi or more correctly, the tiger within him. In the Introductory arc, Akutagawa, Higuchi and Kyouka were introduced and we did have glimpses into the abuse and upbringing that made them into the people we know today but don’t forget that the underlying skein was the huge bounty on Atsushi and the mystery of who could be behind it. Even the deal Dazai made with Chuuya in the underground interrogation cellar was based on this—
Tumblr media
Right?
Well, eventually the bounty method failed and we cut to the ‘rich sods’ behind this lol (why this was cut from the anime idk)
Tumblr media
The next Arc was the Guild Arc—the motive hasn’t changed yet. The Guild members attacked Yokohama with the intention of incinerating the city and kidnapped Atsushi once again. And, Fitzgerald says to Atsushi: (who is the prophesy ability user I wonder? The origin of all this trouble)
Tumblr media
Is what this guy says but Fyodor doesn’t seem to mind lol
In the end, the Moby Dick plan failed too. And then, our hurricane of chaos steps onto the main stage and takes the story in a thousand different directions.
Okay but before that, we have the Dead Apple Arc which... also majorly features a brutal experiment on little Atsushi. How Fyodor knew about the tiger before it even fully manifested within the boy is beyond me—maybe he gets it from the prophecy ability user, maybe he gets daily hot news from his partner-in-crime, his ability Crime and Punishment or whatever but my point is that Atsushi was continuously targeted for three consecutive arcs.
And then, boom, a 360 deg turn after Dostoyevsky started his full-scale operations. Taking both the Cannibalism Arc and Decay of Angels Arc as stage 1 and stage 2 of the same plan— (yes I added this coz look how cute these three are in this chart!)
Tumblr media
—I have to point out that not even once has the spotlight been on Atsushi like in the previous arcs. Yes, he is still the protagonist and yes, we still see the story from his point of view,,, but where is the constant attempt and abduction on him? He has been completely pushed to one side in favor of razing down Yokohama itself with no concern for the ‘tiger-beetle’’s safety. Why?
At first, I wondered whether Fyodor simply exaggerated Atsushi's importance to Shibusawa and Fitzgerald so they would attack Yokohama. Which... might still be the case ofc, because I can’t trust anything that comes out of the guy’s mouth. Every word is a well-crafted lie lol
But I think the correct answer lies in the yet truthfully unanswered question: why exactly was Sigma left in the Casino after his one use to locate the Page from Taneda?
Tumblr media
The question Dazai rightly put forth to the guy on three different occasions and for which he continually used the first rule of a conjurer—Misdirection.
(The rest is just hc and speculation on my part and might be right or not but will def go long lol so I will put under the cut—)
Well, the answer Fyodor gave to the last one was yet another misdirection—he changed the question to pretending to be offended about comparing ‘levels of Sigma and the Hunting Dogs’, explained how Sigma was created from the Book etc. etc. which all might be true...
But he still didn’t answer the actual question, did he?
Going back to the Cannibalism Arc, Dostoyevsky pitted the two main protecting forces of Yokohama against each other to test the loyalty and trust among the members. A lot of things happen but what I want to highlight is how Atsushi has started to actively fight for the place he now thinks of as home instead of running away like he used to do in the beginning. Remember, how the first time he came to know of the bounty on his head, he ran away believing that him not being with the others will protect them from the Port Mafia? He didn’t think the Agency would be able to stand on their own against the Mafia. But now, he trusts in them and fights with and for them. Well, at least to some extent (coz he still freezes up when he is alone against an adversary but that's understandable)
Then comes the DoA arc and what is the true outcome of this arc? Every member of the ADA has been named a terrorist, either arrested or forced into hiding. Except for Atsushi (and Kyouka) who has been running from place to place, seeking help from various sources to clear the name of the place he has finally come to call home.
Which... exactly is Fyodor’s MO. Using the weakness of a person against themselves. Breaking them with their own weakness. (Just like how he did for Kunikida)
By making Atsushi feel like he is the only one who can save the ADA, he is actually playing right into the enemy’s hands. He is the one who needs to be protected the most bc of whatever connection he, or rather, his tiger has to the Book and yet he is the one on the center stage, most vulnerable to the enemy’s traps. The Agency members who continually came to his rescue in the first two arcs are now unable to provide him any help.
Finally comes the Sky Casino Arc.
Okay, to be very honest, I always agreed with what Dazai said about Sigma. I felt Sigma is indeed no match to the Hunting Dogs (no matter how profound his resolution is.) True; Sigma fought tooth and nail but in the end, in spite of having a gun lol, he really was no match to Teruko. Just as she asked: why do you think you’re the only one who houses that power?
Tumblr media
See? Exactly. Say, if geniuses like Ranpo, Dazai or Fyodor (and others in this series) become truly ‘desperate’? Honestly, Ranpo fits in his classification of ordinary man is the strongest, doesn’t he? Someone without an ability or influence but desperate to defend the one thing he cherishes the most in his life? Even the latter two...they actually use their abilities so little—most of what they do are complete intellectual activities. So, whether or not Sigma was created from the Book, I don’t think he’d hold a candle to these men if and when they become ‘desperate’.
That’s why I think the real reason Sigma was placed at the Casino was not to fight the Hunting Dogs head-on (I think Dostoyevsky meant it when he said Sigma was free to run away if he faces the Hunting Dogs)
Tumblr media
—or to protect the secrets of the terrorist Casino (the coin bombs are meant to be discovered by the Hunting Dogs so that they can pin the accusation on the ADA even more, so what’s there to protect? See, even that plane contains those coins—they are everywhere!)
Tumblr media
—but to come in contact with Atsushi and co., so he can use his ability on Atsushi and extract whatever it is that Fyodor needs to locate the Book (assuming the Book is an actual physical blank novel and not a metaphor/allegory for something else)
Tumblr media
Or, rather, I should probably put this as shooting two birds with one bullet.
Fyodor, as many people have pointed out, has a totally different aim (that is not World Domination)—he is seeking out the Book to destroy the sins of abilities and ability users. (However he might lie, I believe he did say the truth to Dazai in that panel coz of the framing.) He merely crafted a plan for Fukuchi for Fukuchi’s aim of World Domination. A plan that he didn’t plan out to perfection because ‘perfect is so boring’ (Who entrusts planning to this guy anyway? He is chaos incarnate)
To put it shortly, I think he sneaked in his own agenda disguised as steps-unto-world-domination. The coin bombs from the Casino were meant to be distributed all-round the world for bringing about an economic recession and tightening the rope of accusation around the ADA’s neck (this for Fukuchi). He moved his pieces in such a way that Atsushi is the one that escapes from the Wretched Chair Arc, is the one that comes to the Sky Casino so that Sigma can come in contact with him (this for himself). And then, Sigma gives away the information about the Page held by Kamui. Resulting in the Vampire Outbreak and the One Order and whatnot (this for Fukuchi)
Now, mayyybe, Fyodor will pull the plug on Fukuchi? Seems likely coz if he’s got what he needed, he no longer needs the guy’s powerful influence. Maybe, he will wait out till Fukuchi sinks lower and lower, till he is completely exposed and arrested/defeated etc. etc.. He must have some sort of firewall so his name won’t and can’t be dragged into the mess and so he can continue his Plan -insert letter- in peace allied with some other (next) influential personality (I am guessing The Order might be his next plaything. Hope Agatha Christie is skilled enough to not trust this guy with plans.)
Well, tl;dr of this post is once again—what exactly is the information that Sigma took from Atsushi in exchange for the location of the Page? I still don’t have a proper answer to this lol.

ALSO CAN I ASK FOR SOME RANDOM GOM HCS U HAVE? like just random ones u have or if u want like some toxic hcs abt them :D
I’m assuming that I can include their negative traits of their personalities as well 👀 Also including Momoi in this… lots of analyzing for this hc, so I used my brain here pls appreciate AGAIN these are all headcanons/interpretations of possible toxic hcs about them and only a few are canon
[Headcanons]
Kuroko Tetsuya
Kuroko is the hardest person to find a “negative/toxic” trait in, and it doesn’t seem like he has any
kind, understanding, hardworking, and compassionate; he’s everything a good-natured protagonist is
but he’s only like this to people/hobbies he cares about/close with; anything else he’s quite apathetic and also very passive/neutral about
the biggest hint to this is when Akashi criticizes Kuroko for cherry-picking who the GoMs should “go all out against” and who to casually toy with
and Akashi is absolutely correct
most of the series is portrayed through Kuroko’s perspective, and Akashi is the first direct outside perspective who comments on his actions/attitude
it’s obviously not that Kuroko didn’t “notice”... he clearly sees and knows what these GoMs are doing; after all, he had a conversation with Aomine about how observant he is to everything around him
of course, if you were close to him, all your opinions and issues matter to him
it’s the fact that what’s not really important to him is suddenly now important just because someone he knows is involved
just an example: if someone was advocating climate change, he has no opinion on it until someone he knows cares about the issue
in other words, he has a subtle hypocritical view on things, especially when he interacts with others
another clear negative trait could be that he’s too idealistic or perhaps naive, seeing things in a clear black-or-white picture and not necessarily a gray area
WE know, as an audience, that the GoMs honestly needed therapy and a proper adult to guide their out-of-control talents
but Kuroko, in his eyes, had viewed them as “bad” and “evil” in their ways of basketball until they changed after their respective matches
he’s probably someone who doesn’t yield to other opinions once he forms his own, and this may make him unable to consider things in other people’s perspectives
which is again, ironic: someone who doesn’t have generally a strong stance but once they do, it’s very unyielding, which further proves Akashi’s comment about Kuroko’s tendency to nitpick which to care about
a final hc about a potential flaw he might have here in a different ask!
Kise Ryota
y’all… it’s as canon as day that he has a mean side
straight from the author himself, it’s confirmed that Kise is only kind to those who he respects, and to the rest, he’s cold-hearted
in the manga, it’s very clear that he’s super judgmental on every first impression on people he meets, boxing them into categories based on the way they look, act, and speak
only when they surpass his preset expectations (low or high depends on his preliminary judgments of them) is when he opens his mind to the rest of their personality
this is a very close-minded way of thinking, and I hope I don’t need to explain why LOL
this can be interpreted as him being two-faced by the majority of the people in his school
his way of speaking can definitely be very cruel and crass, and to sensitive people, his words can easily shatter hearts
Kise’s negative/toxic traits are pretty straightforward here, so let’s move on
Midorima Shintarou
his harsh words can be considered a “negative” part of his personality, but I think it’s a lot more than just that
it’s confirmed in the series that he’s a bystander and almost always minds his own business
on one hand, one can say he’s self-driven and that he constantly strives for self-improvement
on the other, it can be interpreted as him being very dangerously ambitious and selfish, in which most actions he takes are for the sole reason of self-improvement and not for altruistic reasons
for example, when he helped Kuroko and Kagami in the training camp, it was under the reasoning that them becoming stronger would be a good challenge for himself to test and learn
that’s not to say that he can’t have friends, but most friendships he’s built are with capable people who can potentially provide him with some new beneficial skill/goal to strive towards
after all, he’s only learned to trust Takao as a friend only after seeing him as someone capable
because he’s so focused on himself, he’s extremely likely to turn a blind eye to injustice, most also likely to use Oha Asa to justify their “misfortunes” as he continues on his day
he’s not cold-hearted, but altruism comes by Midorima a lot rarer than the average person
now, we know that his Oha Asa aspect is used to balance his serious side as the “comedic side” of him, but if we really think about it, his obsessions with the horoscopes could be a huge obstacle in the future, where he may refuse to listen/depend on others in favor of his own intuition and the stars; after all, no one knows everything, and depending on the stars as one’s next source of advice and guidance isn’t a sound decision to commit themselves to
he seems like the person who overthinks and jumps to conclusions when it comes to social situations, but instead of confronting the person, he turns to fate and fortune if Takao isn’t near to help
Aomine Daiki
I wouldn’t be surprised if Aomine had a skewed sense of beauty standards from all those magazines he consumed and from being around Momoi for the majority of his life
of course anyone can distinguish pieces of media from reality, but during the most impressionable years of life, without experiencing other types of people and physiques, he would have limited knowledge on what “beauty” is and whatnot
this probably would be more of a problem in his adolescence than adult
a very given negative trait is his short temper plus his tendency to turn to physical violence when someone nags him to a certain point, seen with how he’s treated Wakamatsu in the beginning (though this seems to almost disappear by the end of the series)
what I’ve noticed in every scene he’s in, is that everything seems to revolve around him and his hobbies of basketball and Japanese idols
what I mean is that everytime we see Aomine, it’s always Momoi approaching to Aomine or just him always being the center of attention; never once has he approached Momoi for anything and it’s always been the other way around
in other words, people have to cater to him in order to get along with him/be in good graces (additional example: Imayoshi letting him do as he pleases to get him to be cooperative and participate in the games)
we’ve actually never seen Momoi’s hobbies outside of being a manager for her basketball teams and just anything basketball-related
he can be quite apathetic, choosing to only pay attention and try in things he’s interested in… which is basketball and those magazines
he seems to mature in the Last Game though, so I’m not quite sure to what extent these headcanons would apply to older Aomine (these also don’t really apply to Puremine)
Momoi Satsuki
the author probably also included this type of anime trope as comedy, but belittling another female for her body is definitely a no-go in reality; I feel like this is something most people gloss over really lightly
her body comments on Riko are actually what made me skeptical of her character at first before the show really shows her entire personality
that being said, it seems that she always takes the opportunity to look down on other girls (especially to those she is a stranger to) as a sort of “competition” when there’s boys around
definitely at certain moments, she screams a “pick-me girl” type of person (real phenomenon, you can search this up!)
while Kuroko doesn’t seem to actively mind this, I think she also has no good sense of boundaries and what’s considered appropriate touch and consent; people can chalk this up to “oh it’s just infatuation,” but this definitely isn’t okay if we really think about this
her life also seems to revolve around either Aomine or Kuroko, and based from that, I’d feel like she’d have a difficult time forming her own identity/life separate from her “manager life,” especially once she graduates from Touou
can definitely be interpreted as too clingy at certain moments, while others may think it’s her way of showing that she cares
Murasakibara Atsushi
most people would chalk up Murasakibara as “lazy,” and on the surface level, it does appear to look that way…
I think his true negative trait is that he has a lack of intrinsic motivations to drive him to do things
it’s different from being lazy; someone can be lazy while still having a goal, and certainly someone can be lazy while they’re motivated by thoughts of “I want to learn more,” “I want to get stronger,” etc. (you guys, it’s me right now in college)
and he doesn’t have that
part of this was contributed to the fact that he’s already so gifted with genetics and thus, there’s never been a goal for him to have to work towards to when he’s already at the top
he doesn’t actively seek out, and while that may be a characteristic of sloth, it’s not exactly right either
he willingly does things if people around him give him the motivations/reasons to do so; a person of sloth wouldn’t do anything even with all the motivations and goals handed right to their face
snacks/food are examples of extrinsic motivations that fuel him to carry on daily life
Himuro is always the main motivator for Murasakibara to come out and watch matches, and he also does whatever Akashi orders in both Teiko and present days // a person who can give the giant the motivation to do tasks would get along with him the most
searching out for a challenge against his basketball skills is something that’s never crossed his mind
why? he grew to be like the way he is because of the lack of results from his “search” of a challenge throughout his games
again, it’s only when Murasakibara gets handed a silver-platter of a challenge, Jason Silver, that actively gets him pumped up and raring to go
as such, Murasakibara is equivalent to a rusty machine, extremely difficult to start up and find compatibility with, but very powerful and efficient once he finds that spark
Murasakibara finding any partner or friend in the future would be extremely difficult because he ticks a different tune from the rest
Akashi Seijuro
his entire Bokushi side was a giant-ass red flag for very obvious reasons LOL anyways, moving on…
it’s difficult to pinpoint a negative characteristic for Oreshi because he’s the pinnacle of a gentleman character… but that technically is also his negative trait
for him to maintain that perfect image for himself and others, he has always carried himself in such a way that doesn’t allow for errors or expressions of “weakness”
thus, bottling up his frustrations and emotions to the point of no return is something very familiar to Akashi, and I’d feel like Bokushi is the result of his overflowing emotions left unchecked in the first place
I also predict that if Akashi continues to carry himself without letting himself wind down and feel emotions on the spot rather than locking it up inside him, a day will come when he splits into two halves again with a “new” Bokushi to deal with his current life (and let the current Oreshi take a backseat in his psyche to take a break from the turmoil)
also will tend to overwork himself to manage people’s expectations as well as his own, and he’s not one to depend on people not because he sees them as inferior or incapable, but because he’s doing this out of habit from being in positions of authority and responsibility for much of his life
and so, he may tend to hide important things or just not speak about his problems in general to those close to him because he feels like he can do it all himself and spare everyone the work and stress associated with them (a leader mentality)
throughout the majority of his life being calm and calculated, his emotions would definitely escape from him in forms of uncontrollable lashes of anger… before he would realize what he’s done… that is, assuming that another Bokushi hasn’t form within his subconscious yet
