Admin's note: Hey! I am back with a new Drama CD. These days I was confused whether I should upload a one shot or a Drama CD, after debate I went for CD as they are easier to write. Tbh this one is rushed as I didn't properly sat and think about scenes. I just wrote what came in my mind as Carla, Ruki and Shu are my favourite ships with Yui. I wanted to make a CD with any topic about them and finally I did. This cd is focused on Shu roasting as his roasting isn't appreciated enough I focused on that, Carla and Ruki are getting roasted. I have zero idea about demon things origin it's all made up and not canon. Again reviews are welcomed 😭 please review as it's the thing that gets me motivated.

Ruki: Oi! What's the meaning of this?

_Ruki entered the music room along with Carla.

Carla: That's should be my line. Woman, why did you call me with this guy?

Yui: Ruki-kun and Carla-san, thanks for coming!

_Yui walked up to them.

Ruki: State your reason here. I thought you finally stepped up your game by calling me alone in this music room, tsk.

Carla: You are truly a dense women with no sense of moral. Calling two men here in this music room, what do you hope to achieve.

_Yui's face flushed.

Yui: No-o.... You both have a misunderstanding... I-I--

Shu: Pwah.... Could you both stop ganging up on her. This shows your mentality instead of her. You are the one delusional for expecting something from a woman like her.

Ruki: Ohh... Sakamaki Shu. How about you remain quiet as you always have been.

_Ruki looked at him with cold eyes.

Shu: Hah! Why? Are you upset that I called you out?

_Shu looked at Ruki with cold eyes too.

Yui: Uhm... Shu-san wasn't cooperating to go anywhere, I had no choice but to call you both here in the music room.

Shu: Exactly! It was for my comfort don't get any ideas you perverts...

Carla: You inferior being dare to talk to a King of First blood like that!

_Carla stepped closer to Shu only for him to be blocked by Yui.

Yui: Carla-san calm down please!

Ruki: Hah! To think you need a woman to protect yourself, you truly are a failure as a man.

Shu: Is it me or are you both ganging up on me... What a pain.

Yui: Uhmm... I called you three here for an assignment.

Ruki: Assignment?? If you needed help you could have approached me privat--

Shu: Well she didn't for a reason and I think I can see why she didn't.

_Ruki glared at Shu.

Yui: Well this assignment is related to "Demons and Their history " I thought you three will be the best to talk about this topic since, I will get to know about history of vampires and founders. You three are the best options so please cooperate with me.

Carla: Hmm... So you want to know about History of founders. This will be a good idea. In this way you will know about your people.

Ruki: "Your people" what do you mean by that Tsukinami Carla.

_Carla looked at Ruki with serious eyes.

Carla: She will be the Queen of founders and as my wife she need to know about her people.

_Shu chuckled.

Shu: People? What people? Aren't founders extinct? Your history is already over.

Ruki: ...............

Yui: ................

Carla: You! How dare you vampire insult my royal bloodline! You scum!

Shu: This scum here at least has its race and isn't extinct like you.

Yui: Carla-san please-e stop I beg you don't!

_She immediately got between them stopping Carla.

Ruki: Livestock don't get in between. You aren't his Knight! Get over here!

_Shu looked at Ruki.

Shu: You need a knight actually considering your powers you half vampire.

_Ruki glared at Shu.

Ruki: You really got some guts for insulting me like that!

Yui: Ruki-kun please not you too!

_Yui left Carla to grab Ruki to stop him from getting to Shu.

Yui: Please! Please stop it!

Ruki: Hmph!

_Yui looked at them.

Yui: Umm.. For starters I have always wondered what's demons origin like how do they came into being.

Shu: In the same way you human exist we all exist that's it.

Yui: Huh? This means God made you all.

Carla: No...No God made us! We are first blood the superior--

Ruki: Hah! So you are claiming you existed from start?

Carla: My ancestors yes! Me? No.

Shu: Obviously you are after product.

Carla: Are you insulting me?!

Shu: Who knows?

Yui: Ohh? I see so that's how it is.... what about vampires? Do you all think Karlheinz-sama is the first vampire to exist.

Ruki: Good question! That man is a God with thoes incredible powers and--

Shu: Here comes his inner fanboy.

_Shu mumbled.

Ruki: Did you say something?

Shu: No...

Ruki: I see as I said. But I believe this isn't the case cuz you see he has a brother--

Shu: It's obvious he didn't crawl up directly from the hell. He was putted in this world by some miserable people. He must have some nasty parents.

Ruki: Don't insult him--

Carla: There was a time when all species were under us founder. We all were on top the most feared. No one dared to disrespect us during my father's time-

Shu: "Was" so this mean you agree to the fact you aren't feared anymore....

Carla: You! Are you picking a fight here?!? I would love to show you what fear is!

Yui: Calm down Carla-san! Shu-san is joking!

Ruki: I would rather say you humbled yourself. It must be because of her. One of us is bound to awaken as Adam.

Shu: "Us" aren't you excluded because you are half blood.

Ruki: ...........

Yui: Shu-san, why are you doing that?! Please stop it! My assignment needs to be completed.

Shu: Pwah... I am so tired could you hurry up and get over with this all.

Yui: Shu-san if you keep saying such things which angers them how am I supposed to hurry up??

Shu: Then you shouldn't have invited these short tempered people.

Carla: Now I get why that guy hates you. You clearly are a disappointment.

Shu: Ouch.. that hurted....

_Shu calmly said closing his eyes.

Ruki: This man infuriates me with his attitude!!

Yui: Please calm down you three-

Shu: Its not "three" it's "two" or" both" will be more suitable......

Ruki: You talk as if you are perfect you are nothing but a disappointment both as son and older brother.

Carla: To think you will be the one leading the vampire clan, I am sure vampire clan will be bound to ruin if the future king is a sloth.

Ruki: Hah! To think you are Karlheinz's son is a big insult.

_Yui looked at both of them angrily.

Yui: You both, it's too much stop it! You are being mean to Shu-san, he --

Ruki: To think you need to relay on others to do your work... hmph a disappointment.

_Shu smiled and looked at them.

Shu: I might be this and that but you both are still not better than me in anything. I still have everything without trying. You both could never. You both sound jealous and envious.

_Shu laughed.

Shu: I will still become king because I am better than my brothers and that old man's sons unlike someone over here I will have actual commerades actual people to lead too......

_Yui's eyes widened

Yui: Look you all, we are diverting from topic this isnt---

Carla: Huh! You really think you will get away by talking like that about me? If I want I could wipe you and your whole clan from this world!!

Ruki: You think crown will be passed to you like that you are wrong Sakamaki sShu. The crown goes to someone who has Eve and you clearly don't have her!!

Shu: So do you have her? You talk as if you have--

Carla: That's my clan will be restored by this woman so put your nasty gaze off from my woman!

Ruki: "My women"?? You are being very bold considering she doesn't even bat her lashes to you!

Yui: You-u.. gu..ys...please listen--

Carla: Your half breed aren't even in race your blood is too impure to be contaminated with someone as precious as her!

Shu: She doesn't deserve to live with a guy who is as twisted as you in first place!

Ruki: Haha! So she deserve a sloth like you a man who sleeps all day and doesn't have a will too live you!

Shu: She doesn't deserve someone disgusting like you with such twisted fantasies.

Ruki: She doesn't deserve someone who is a faliure as a man. A man who runs from duties and responsibilities isn't suitable for her!

Kino: You all are right! She doesn't deserve you three!

_They all turned to look at kino.

Kino: She deserve a prince as she is a princess and that Prince is me!

Carla: You! Where do you come from?!

Kino: Listen up buddies from all of your conversation I realized I am the best option for her. So it's better if you wed her to me!

Ruki: You--where is livestock?!

Kino: She is safe and sound with me don't worry I will invite you three to our wedding! Ohh! Your families are also invited!

Shu: Hahh I knew something like this will happen...

Carla: I will destroy you! Give my woman back to me!

Kino: Hehe! Never and We will see that! Sayonara!!!!

The man behind the voice: Narita Ken

The dreamy voice that talked about orange paper planes flying in the blue sky and the same voice that exhorted little Kouryuu to be strong...

...is supplied by none other than Narita Ken. Probably an obscure name among anime fans in 2023, but a legend to fans of old CD dramas of a certain genre.

Here's what his fellow voice actors have to say about him.

Yamaguchi Kappei: You're a pervert, but you've got a really nice voice.

Morikawa Toshiyuki: I looked into your eyes, but they were not yours - they were the eyes of the character you were playing at that time. [referring to Narita's method acting]

Kosugi Jūrōta: Today's my first time acting with Narita Ken-kun. I've heard rumors about Narita-kun acting out a lot of movements before the microphone while recording love scenes. I can confirm that the rumors are true. Seriously, he was hugging the microphone all the time while we did the love scene today.

Another thing I heard is that Narita-kun always closes his eyes during the love scenes. He was all over the place, but he really had his eyes closed [during the scene today].

It was amazing, everyone. So amazing that I wish you all could see it as well. [For the recording of love scenes in BL CD dramas, only the voice actors performing the scene are present in the recording room, a practice that probably began in the 2000s.]

“Hey there, Aichi...You still carrying around your old man’s sword I see...”

The sudden appearance of Morikawa causes the young teen to startle, Aichi frozen as the other approaches and essentially backs him into a literal street corner. He had been just finishing a few errands for his mother and was planning on heading back. Normally such duties were handled to Emi or Kamui, but ever since Kai came back into his life, he’s been feeling more comfortable going outside his house and into the village when before he would avoid it.

And it’s situations like the one he’s just found himself in that Aichi desperately oh so wanted to avoid. He didn’t do well with confrontation. He never has. That made him an easy target for bullies, especially ones who wanted something he had. Morikawa was no exception. Ever since Aichi inherited his father’s Blaster Blade, the egotistical spiked male has wanted to have it. It was a legendary magical weapon that has fought in countless battles and protected so many people, of course it was desirable. Still, you would think after so many years of trying to get it and Aichi protecting it with all his might that the other just give up, but Morikawa was as determined as he was loud, much to Aichi’s dismay.

“Don’t you think you’d be better off giving that sword to a real man that would get some use out of it? I’m sure your old man wouldn’t want his precious Blaster Blade to be sitting there collecting dust. And luckily for you, you got a real man right here who is more than happy to take it off your hands.” 

“M-Morikawa, I-I’ve told you already! This...This sword is...is very important to me! I can’t...I can’t just give it up! A-And besides, this sword doesn’t work for just anyone! It needs to-” 

Morkiawa’s hand slams into the wall beside the teen, Aichi tensing up at the suddenness of the movement. It was clear the taller teen wasn’t exactly happy with the younger one’s response. He wasn’t exactly the type to take no for an answer, after all. Any attempts made to get out of the situation are foiled, Morikawa using one of his feet to pin Aichi’s own to the ground. 

It looks like there wasn’t a way out of this. He didn’t have the strength nor the courage to fight back. He wasn’t like his father, the great swordsmen Ahmes who fought for justice and peace using the sword his son now carried on his back. If it wasn’t for the fallen warrior’s last wish, for Aichi to inherit the blade and keep it as a reminder of him, then perhaps he would have long handed it over to Morikawa by now. 

What would his father think of him, if he saw him like this?

That lingering question consumed Aichi’s mind as he closed his eyes in preparation for whatever beating was to come. It didn’t matter to him how broken his body would get. All he cared about in this moment was protecting the blade on his back, the precious gift from a loving father. That’s all he could do at the very least.

But the beating...never came? In fact, Aichi suddenly feels the pressure release from his foot. Cerulean hues then open themselves up again, a gasp soon escaping his lips after he comprehends the image in front of him. Morikawa was no longer in front of him, Aichi unable to see the other due to someone else blocking his view. And that person was...

Hello dear mutual of mine just wanted to ask a random question again (hope you don't mind) what is your favourite manga in this time period and why? (Aka I'm fishing for recs ok? You have really great taste!)

It's a tie at the moment between Osamu Nishi's 'Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun!' and Yuu Morikawa's 'Mr. Villain's Day Off'!!

Welcome to demon School Iruma Kun! because it has, for me, a good balance between action, school day growth, teen self-discovery and deep seated political drama! We follow the titular Iruma-kun on his journey in the demon realm as a human recently adopted by a grand demon! The story is all about Iruma gaining confidence, friends and most importantly learning that being selfish isn't always a bad thing. That and also a massive conspiracy about dead/missing demon kings; terrorism and elements of what I'd say are thriller!

That and the fact that the main cast is mostly made up of a full class of students and it's amazing how the class are all a found family (that feels REALISTIC and CONSISTENT) but are also allowed to be individual characters with their own interpersonal relationships and ideals/wants that are never pushed aside for plot convivence or in service of the main characters progression. I also hold a special place in my heart for the love trio (the CANON) name for the main trio of the cast and they're (canonically) self-proclaimed soulmates who just love each other and its like it doesn't have to be specified if its romantic or platonic because they love each other and that's what's important!!

And Mr Villain's Day Off because it's just so fucking funny. Need a silly fluff piece with unexpected jabs of angst that still leave you with the feeling of 'oh there is good in the world'? wrapped up in a power-rangers parody??? Well, this is for you. We follow the 'general' a member of an alien race who are trying to invade the earth and take over; destroying all humans in the process who are stopped by the Rangers which are literally just the power rangers but for copyright reasons aren't called that. As the title suggests however, we only follow him when he's off duty and it's a very (ironically) humanising piece and shows our MC seeing the beauty of Earth and human life! He has doubts every so often about his mission because of this and its fun to see his thought process!!

We also occasionally see from the Rangers POV who are very confused about the fact that apparently their alien enemies have... enforced workplace routines?? And mandatory bureaucracy?? Also the GENERAL (implied to be the one who they mainly go up against/at least meet/ know is behind most of the things they deal with) has a hard line that if he's not paid he's not fighting them and won't intentionally hurt animals. They also see that he's a *person* because for instance he finds out that the Red Ranger has a very glaring weakness and could take him out with it but simply doesn't... which is cool of him?

There's also a recurring plot line with actual spirits and cherry blossoms etc that i won't spoil but is so simultaneously sad and fluffy!!

Translator’s note: I found this CD to be incredibly informative and interesting because it really does teach us more about the Demon World and its traditions. I genuinely had a lot of fun hearing them talk about the three different household’s various customs when it comes to parties and ceremonies. :3 Rejet should definitely make more drama CDs like these which combine light-hearted comedy with lore.

Kanato: …Hm? He froze in place.

He ceases his actions. 

Kou: Seems like Carla-kun’s actually pretty desperate for points, huh? Maybe he’s just as much in danger of failing this class as we are?

Carla: …Did you say something?

Kou: Oh no~ Just talking to myself~

Shuu: Pwaah…God…You guys are all so noisy. Can’t you be a little more considerate towards the guy trying to sleep and lower your voices? 

Yuma: Haah…? Why would we be considerate? Towards a NEET like ya!?

Kanato: Exactly. Pull yourself together and participate in the discussion. I would like to get this uncomfortable situation over with as soon as possible.

Shuu: Hm? …Kanato, do you have a fever, perhaps?

Carla: …Oi, you. Weren’t you the one asking where she was earlier?

Kou: Oopsie~ (・ω<) (2) …I mean, where’d be the fun in spoiling the surprise beforehand? Besides, having me introduce her as my idol persona works way better from a commercial point of view! …I guess you could say that’s just how things work in this branch? 

Carla: …I do not understand. 

Laito: Well, Kou’s just shallow like that. It’s nothing for you to be worried about, Carla. …Well then, Bitch-chan, you can take a seat right next ・to・me~ Come here? Nfu~

Laito: Hmー So you gather around the table with close relatives? 

Kou: The food is often a mixture between traditional and Western cuisine!? W-What does that mean? 

You elaborate. 

Kanato: It has to be enjoyable to eat for the grandparents as well, you say? …So we actually have to make a wide variety of dishes? 

Carla: Scratch that.

Shuu: Agreed. 

Laito: Yeah…

Kou: I feel like trying to overachieve will only hurt us in the end. 

Yuma: Gotta agree that I don’t get the point of it. 

You frown. 

Kou: Hmー Now don’t look so troubled. For starters, we do have somewhat of a solid idea of what a wedding ceremony is like here in the human world. In short, what’s important is that the food conveys the feeling that you’re trying to please everyone to the best of your ability right? So if we manage to achieve that with our menu, it should leave you satisfied, right? 

Laito: Well, since we’ve got five Vampires and one Founder here, why don’t we try adding the element of human hospitality to our world’s dishes? 

Yuma: I mean, she’s the only one who’s gonna try it, so we can just make some minor adjustments to our cuisine to better suit her tastes, right?

Carla: Oi, please do not group us together simply because we both hail from the Demon World. Founders are their own distinct group. Obviously, our culture and customs are different as well.

Yuma: Yeah! I put blood, sweat and tears into growin’ those taters so seein’ others enjoy them really made me feel like it was worth it!

Carla: …Sounds shabby.

Yuma: Haah!?

Shuu: Exactly. Who serves potatoes at a party?

Kou: Hey, don’t say that! I guess rich kids wouldn’t know, but it’s common all around the world!

Shuu: Some parts were rock hard as well. Even though it barely tasted of anything overall, at times it’d suddenly hit you with a kick of spice…then at the end left you with a bitter aftertaste. 

Carla: What kind of dish was that…!? 

Laito: …Good question. 

Yuma: ‘Good question’!? But you ate it, right!? 

Kanato: We did not choose to eat it, we were forced to. 

Laito: Exactly! Besides, we wouldn’t have even realized it was food if we hadn’t been told to eat it!

Shuu: I was left wondering who had put their trash on the dinner plate. …Haah.

Kou: Ahー I’m kind of starting to feel bad for them.

Yuma: Yeah…I guess even rich kids…don’t always have it easy, huh?

Kou: Ah, right right. Add some dry cured ham in there as well. …The expensive kind made from iberico pork…

Carla: …Perfect!

Kanato: That sounds…revolting.

Translation notes 

(1) Yuma uses the term 貧乏くじ or ‘binbou-kuji’ which literally means ‘poor lottery’. I assume they used some kind of lottery system like drawing straws or numbers to decide which students would be in the same group together. 

(2) Kou says ‘てへぺろ’ or ‘tehe pero’, which is a typical comical expression often seen in cartoons and manga consisting of a character winking while sticking out their tongue. → (・ω<) It’s often used when someone makes a mistake and tries to kind of cover it up. (or as a way to feign innocence/ignorance)

(3) Yuma referred to Kanato as プチ切れボーヤ which literally means ‘young lad which is easily irked’. I translated this as ‘ticking time bomb’, not realizing that he would then later try and make up a whole story about it. I don’t know where the connection with mushrooms came from but let’s not question it.

Hajime no Ippo creator George Morikawa shared a photo of Miura's tribute drawing of Hajime no Ippo character Takemura given to him. Miura previously worked with Morikawa as an assistant. Miura's written message in the illustration reads "Back in college, I worked with you as a short-term assistant, and I was worried my lack of skill would hold you back. I learned many things, and this is both an apology and a thank you!"

Morikawa added his comment on Miura's passing:

After he drew more, I had already become deeply interested in him, and we only stopped drawing to talk about manga. When I asked him to show me some of his drawings in his sketchbook, and it stopped my heart and gave me goosebumps. Within were drawings of fairies, a certain brand, a swordsman wielding a huge sword; the beginnings of what would later be Puck and Guts, all drawn in thick lines. It was too much. "What is all this?" I asked him. "They're what's inside my head," he answered. "I want to get better, so I thought I should draw them." How long had he been saving this up in his head?, I wondered. Berserk was already there, in those drawings.

The months passed by, and I started serializing Hajime no Ippo, and it wasn't long after that Berserk started. Miura shared some stories of difficulty with me, but I was confident that his manga would be a hit. Kentarou-kun had poured his strength and confidence into this long-awaited serialization, after all. The world would soon be as astonished as I was when I first saw his drawings. He had a completely refined artistic skill and drew with all his soul, and I had nothing but the deepest respect for every new chapter of Berserk.

We only worked in that short time, but it was my pride and honor to have met him. Forgive me for speaking so much, Kentarou-kun. One day, I'll go and read that last chapter of yours.

Assisticat: gave Kai a paw bump.

Ren: gave Kai an aquarium. Orchestrated the surprise party.

Tetsu: helped Kai get out of the aquarium. Forcibly removed Kyou and Morikawa from the surprise party.

Asaka: gave Kai a discount voucher for a trip to the movies that she got while shopping. Only gave it to him because Ren liked watching movies at home better.

“This is an image of Takamura, which Kentaro Miura drew for me.

It's now making me feel quite sentimental.

Let me tell you a memory I have of Kentaro.

When I was creating my first weekly series, I was in trouble because I had no staff. That's when Kentaro kindly came to help me.

He was just 18 years old and I was only 19.

He was just a student from the art department of a certain university, coming to me with just a sketchbook under his arm.

I didn't know how good he was at drawing, so I showed him a drawing I had done and asked him to copy it.

I was astonished at the result.

His talent far outweighed his age.

After just a handful of sketches, I was already drawn to him.

We were still quite young, so we paused to discuss manga.

I asked him to show me his sketchbook, which I had been deeply curious about. When I peered inside, I was even more astonished. I felt goosebumps.

There was a fairy, an insignia, and a warrior with a huge sword. Those drawings later became Puck and Guts.

I was overwhelmed by the drawing done in a thick pencil.

"What is this!?" I exclaimed!

He responded "It's just something I have in my head. I'd like to draw it after I get a bit more skill."

I wondered how long he had been working on it.

Berserk was already there.

Months passed, and Hajime no Ippo started serialization.

Around the same time, Berserk had started.

I had heard some stories about the difficulties Kentaro had faced.

But I was convinced...

I was sure that a hugely popular manga had begun.

This was the series that Kentaro had judged himself to have gained enough skill to draw and had launched it with full confidence.

I was sure that the world would be as astonished as I was.

And it was.

He used every bit of his being to express his otherworldly drawing skills in every panel.

I have nothing but respect for the energy that went into every chapter.

This is the end of the story.

That was the only time I really got to know him, but I heard that he cared about me.

I am proud to have the honor of his company.

I'm sorry Kentaro-kun, I talked without permission.

Someday, I'll be there to read the final chapter.

うちの師匠はしっぽがない/Uchi no Shishou wa Shippo ga Nai/ My Master Has No Tail

It looks fun and cute, shapeshifting tanuki girl being main character. Theme is quite rarely seen, about Rakugo -storytelling tradition so I'm interested to see this anime and it being from Taisho era so background and history will be nice to see. Of course cast is nice as well.

Nekomimi characters. PV looked cute and funny. Curious to see this, probably quite heartwarming anime.

Ninja anime. PV looked great and cast is nice. Two clans fighting, action scenes also looked nice. Excited to see this.

This is also one anime I have been waiting for ages so finally able to see these boys. Music sounded great when they showed sneak peeks from the OP/ED music and cast is nice. So excited!!!

So curious to see this anime, a little different approach of idol group, as they are middle aged men. Cast is nice; Konishi Katsuyuki, Fukuyama Jun, Morikawa Toshiyuki, Namikawa Daisuke... and PV looked great and funny.

This looks so cute and funny, and main cast is great; Chiba Shouya, Kobayashi Chiaki, Uchiyama Kouki and Umehara Yuuichirou. Love the animation style and excited to see how they live their daily lives. Sad that one episode last only 15 min.

チェンソーマン/Chainsaw Man

It's been ages (or it seems so) when they published that MAPPA will make this anime. So quite curious to see this finally, and PV looked really good and fight scenes very MAPPA style. For me quite new cast so excited to hear their work and of course see Pochita.

Haven't seen the original anime but my friend recommended to watch this new version so really curious to see this anime. Good cast; Miyano Mamoru, Kamiya Hiroshi and Hayami Saori.

La webserie debutterà in Giappone il 20 settembre.

Con l’apertura del sito ufficiale di “Ganbare Douki-chan” abbiamo a disposizione qualche nuovo dettaglio sul web anime ispirato all’omonimo  doujinshi ad opera del mangaka e illustratore Yomu.

L’adattamento, che debutterà il 20 settembre sul servizio di streaming giapponese AbemaTV, è diretto da Kazuomi Koga (Rent-A-Girlfriend) presso lo studio ATELIERPONTDARC. A curarne la sceneggiatura c’è Yoshiko Nakamura (Sewayaki Kitsune no Senko-san, Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun), mentre il character design è affidato a Yuki Morikawa (Märchen Mädchen).

Ganbare Doukichan Web Anime Hits AbemaTV in September of 2021

  The course of office romance never did run smooth, but now the main cast, the main staff, a new key visual, and the web distribution schedule have all been revealed for Ganbare Doukichan ("You Can Do It, Doukichan"), an upcoming web anime based on the Twitter manga by Yom about a young office lady competing for the affection of her co-worker with several inter-office rivals.

Cardfight!! Vanguard Extra Story IF 16 things

forgot to post this, heck

Fanguard’s dream of actual hobo Kai-kun sleeping on Bench-chan is finally realized

There’s a lot of Kamui and Shin instinctively having feelings true to the true reality and mismatched to IF’s world. There’s two possibilities for this: a) Aichi did a really shitty job nailing down everything due to his concentration being focused primarily on Kai-kun b) the rupture from the illusion around Kai-kun unravelling tore into the IF world as a whole and it’s unable to entirely maintain its story, allowing for instances like Morikawa recalling Kai-kun’s line from Reboot’s first episode or Kamui and Shin recognizing Kagero as a clan expected of him.

The Kamui/Morikawa interactions were really cute, it’s nice to see them butting heads and just being rambunctious kids

Izaki sank the Miyaji Kai-kun theory, curious what he’s like at school in this form.

The ferocity of his original memories invading and scaring him having a lasting impact and making him afraid to play again even a couple/few days later is both fascinating and gutwrenching.

Honestly very surprised that Shin would reprimand anyone for being loud, particularly when that’s Misaki’s thing and where are you hiding her?

The softer he is, the more heartbreaking his situation is in the grand scheme of things, even if he’s come to terms with it. How dare you, Bushi.

IF 15: [roasts himself]. IF 16: [literally roasts a nerd]

Love and hate how the opportunity to elaborate and delve into Kai-kun’s relationship with Dragonic Overlord is taken advantage of because why not just stab me instead? It’s a nice insight into a facet of his time away from Hitsue that was never truly touched on in either version prior.

Emi and Shingo become Fanguard.

Right eye sighted. But being it’s Shingo's recollection of Aichi, not yet willing to buy that it’s completely normal with the fact that, beyond this and his encountering Shuka, it’s remained hidden — the purpose of the shot itself was to establish Shingo isn’t remembering things correctly, so there’s no reason to believe that he’s aware of anything that might be different about it.     — This could be reflected in how Aichi keeps his distance from the others, holed up in his private quarters and suffering with only Kourin seeming to be anywhere near him during such times. It’s reminiscent of Legion Mate, both in his trying to shoulder everything alone/hide the agony he’s going through and Kourin’s close proximity, standing as his right hand in a manner that no-one else fills.    — Also to go with the Legion Mate topic, in this moment, IF Aichi gives off VoidAichi vibes. Despite how broken up it’s apparent he would and should be to exile himself (see V epi 21 and the flashback to him watching the others in Card Capital from Legion Mate), he shows no emotion, but rather seems completely numbed. Also probably looking waaaay too far into it, but 2/2 times when his face has been completely obscured, there’s been a stylistic choice beneath his eyes that is typical of exhaustion/strain/fatigue and it keeps worrying me.

IF 17

The preview gives the impression that this episode is about to be a turning point; that with Naoki and Shingo both having some understanding that things aren’t quite right, their loyalty to Aichi might start to wane.

Naoki’s going out in his Miyaji school uniform has alarm bells ringing, personally, for reasons elaborated below.

Never knew that needed Kai-kun working a part-time job in my life but boy is it a need now.

IF vs. V 21

As a first note, Kai-kun being the one to separation between Aichi and his deck against their IF selves has a nice touch of irony to it. Calling back to it would be a powerful way of drawing on their positions in relation to the scene.

Considering just how badly Aichi freaked out over the idea of giving up his Royal Paladin deck and what it would force unto him, there’s little reason to suspect anything that’s happening in IF is really of his own free will.   — It’s been brought up that, without the two meeting as kids, Aichi shouldn’t really have much knowhow about Vanguard, much less a relationship to it. Considering Kai-kun remained a Hitsue student, it’s an easy assumption to make that Aichi’s education followed the same pattern (though his reasoning for returning to Miyaji remains a mystery, with his lacking the confidence that his original reality/Outside World self had); his exposure to the game might come through his time in Middle School, but it’s a loose and distant connection at best. IF World Aichi, without knowledge of Outside World (if they are two separate versions), would have no reason to target Vanguard over anything else.

As Void and Star-Vaders aren’t a facet of the Reboot continuity, a theory that had in mind for a while is that a remnant of Brandt may have seized the moment when Aichi was Deleted and been festering away in the same manner as the Link Joker Seed. A previous post detailed the mindfuckery involved to break Aichi enough that he would turn on the game, particularly given how fearful he was of relinquishing it and the isolation it would return him to — the very circumstances he’s imposed upon himself (but far worse, in exiling himself from the real world). Though he’s a selfless boy and Kai-kun means an enormous amount to him, it simply doesn’t make sense that he would willingly go down this road.

Rather he’s mind has been twisted so much to believe in what he’s now doing or he’s being controlled by something of Brandt (as we’d never confirmation it was no longer a threat), if not some other force (though to introduce a new one at this stage in both the franchise and the reboot continuity with OverDress around the corner would be a peculiar choice).

Couple of theory things, feat. one really out there idea:

Naoki:

Naoki’s actions in the preview might be glimpses of him starting to break away from Aichi’s will; not with malicious intent, but rather the opposite.

The line of thinking goes as so: as he and Shingo come to realize their memories have been tampered with, Naoki seeks out Emi and Shuka, obtaining Blaster Blade with the intent of returning to the point in time where Aichi should have received it. Among the screencaps Bushiroad has released, one shows a young Naoki and Aichi, who’s holding a card  — rather than allowing the event to play out as it should have, Naoki intends to give Aichi the card himself.

In doing so, Aichi can begin down his path that liberates him from the crushing loneliness that he endured prior to actively playing the game, or in the case of IF, running away from home. Simultaneously, Naoki himself is freed from the guilt that’s shackled him in both continuities about not doing anything to help Aichi, as the Reboot has demonstrated how he yearned to at the time but was too late to make any move. This is his means of doing so and atoning for a reality when he failed.

When Emi, Shuka and Kai-kun would recognize him as the one who threatened the latter’s parents plus Suiko (and Ibuki) would be familiar with him as normal, there’s not a clear reason why he would forgo his Sanctuary Knight uniform for a civilian look other than to avoid attracting the attention of bystanders.;(It might be overthinking it to speculate there being anything more to it than this, but when has that ever worked?)    — Granted this is under the assumption that he would be able to leap through the timeline though Jammers of earlier episodes were capable of doing so, none of the enemy’s core have made any such move yet. And the consequences of doing so; if Aichi’s suffering is the result of IF World unravelling, then Naoki venturing to alter the timeline further may, in fact, cause him more harm than any good he may intend.

Alternatively, Naoki might regain glimpses of the Psyqualia Zombie arc and see himself beating Aichi, leading to Destiny Conductor being able to control him and his eventual Deletion by Ibuki’s hand.

On the one side, it reinforces Aichi’s feelings that Vanguard is something they shouldn’t come into contact with, but Naoki could see it otherwise. He harbours guilt over being the catalyst for those instances, piling on top of his failure to reach out when they were in elementary school, spurning him to go back and redo everything so that he can always protect Aichi, not to embody anguish that the other goes through.

It would also strengthen a hostile opposition towards Ibuki, whose past sin comes back into play. He might throw the event in his face as a means of trying to dredge up his old feelings towards Vanguard and sway him to resist setting things right, whenever/however it is he’s released from wherever Aichi sent him and depending on what he experiences there.

Kourin:

Where we are currently feels very much like the “Sera’s betrayal leading to the Quatre Knights’ dissolution” point. Sera and Rati clashed with one another personally, Gaillard joined with Kai-kun and Naoki, Neve opposed VoidAichi directly — Naoki’s actions in the preview might be glimpses of him starting to break away from Aichi’s will. Though Naoki’s intentions are ultimately to save Aichi from the position he’s stuck in, it’s ultimately defying him — a far cry from what has been shown of the Knights, thus far, who have been fiercely loyal to him, which makes this sort of movement striking.

Miwa also doesn’t appear best pleased in the preview. As someone whose best friend was nearly killed as a result of Aichi’s orders  — a friend at risk now that he’s taking a stance against the group’s status quo — there’s every reason for him to defect for the sake of preventing another (and possibly actually fatal) incident. It’s very possible that It’s entirely possible that, in similar vein to Legion Mate, the collapse of the Knights will leave only Kourin by Aichi’s side, who’ll serve as the last line of defence. 

Mamoru & Tokoha / Aichi & Emi:

It wasn’t touched on during Nagisa and Gouki’s episode, but the dynamic of older brother and younger sister has the potential to crop up here, as well as the chance to contrast the Sendous’ current selves with the Anjou siblings (and the former’s past).

   — Not to mention how Mamoru and Aichi are polar opposites, at the moment in regards to their sisters in danger. Mamoru gambled with his life to keep Tokoha safe in the Dragon Empire attack of the original continuity, and anyone could see Aichi would do the same, but IF Aichi is the one who would inflict harm upon Emi, made clear by his soldiers’ attack on her and Shuka when they attempted to enter the past. Maybe, inadvertently, Tokoha might be put in jeopardy and Mamoru propelled to protect her in the same way, bringing about the behaviour of the two versions of her brother that Emi knows in the same situation.

Give me 11-year old Tokoha to mirror 11-year old Emi at the start of each continuity and drive this home.

And most importantly:
