Summary: Duo recounts his experiences during the war in order to explain… well, why he was wrong.

Chapter Excerpt: There were no missions for a whole two weeks after New Edwards, and with good reason, I think. I doubt I could have handled one much sooner, given the emotional upheaval, let alone all the damage 'Scythe had taken during the fighting. And of course, public sentiment pretty much consisted of fear, fury, and even hatred for the Gundams at that time, and I think G was reluctant to send me back out so soon for that reason as well. No need to rub salt in the wounds.

W.I.P. Wednesday

This is the start of the next part of my ABO!Gundam Wing verse. 

Heero enjoying a slow start to his morning.

Wakefulness came to Heero in chunks. First the was the shock of conscious, though that period between groggy, fuzzy sleep and wide awake was getting longer and longer with each peaceful year. Reflexes honed through training and wartime necessity, were slow to leave,  and some never would, but the knowledge that he was safe, that the world wasn’t tearing itself apart for seemingly no reason, and that it wasn’t his job alone to fix it, made him slow to leave that cocoon of well rested sleep.

 Once he was awake though it was a simple matter of assessing his body and his surroundings. All was normal physically, though he was still getting used to slick sensation between his cheeks that accompanied his morning wood now.  He could feel solid, but flexible weight against his sides and legs. The bed behind his head radiating warmth.  So He wasn’t alone. A deep breath confirmed it. He could smell his mates in the room, almost overwhelming  him, their combined scent forming a musky earth cloud in the room.

Slowly blinking his eyes own he stared up at a familiar pale ceiling. He flicked his eyes down slightly to see the edge of a pale violet wall in the dim light from the west facing window. So in Duo’s room then. Letting his gaze wander further down he could see the indigo bleed into pale blue violet and hazy pink. So it was still early yet.

Tipping his head to left brought a mop of blonde hair tucked against his side into view. Moving his head pulled a disgruntled sound from the dark head tucked under his chin. A whipcord strong arms pull them closer together, jostling his legs and eliciting a pained groan from the body draped over his legs. All that was missing was-

He felt long fingers card through his bands and rub his scalp and he let out a groan of his own. He grunted softly when those same deft fingers slide to the back of his head and nudged it forward. He reluctantly lift his his head so that the body under it could slide free before settling back into the warm left by Trowa’s retreating body.

He watched the half-naked acrobat slip from the head of the bed, mindful of their still sleeping bed fellows. Dark blue eyes took in powerful muscles twitched as his tall lover stretched, pale olive skin stretched over his rolling shoulders. A low rumble of appreciation threatening to come up from his throat, cock twitching in interested along with another part of his anatomy, which pulled a slight frowned to the Japanese man’s lips.

Arousal wasn’t an unfamiliar sensation to Heero after four years. In that first rutt he’s been nervous and stiff, not sure what to do or where to place his hands. But he was a quick study, learning what did and didn’t get partners and himself off. With such willing and patience teachers, he swiftly learn the spots on his partners that could make them shiver and moan, while also learning to let go and allow them to do the same for him. So getting a hard on for his lovers wasn’t going to send him running for the hills, but the feel of sticky, dampness that started to pool beneath him when he was excited was unsettling. Not for the first time he wondered why couldn’t have just stayed a beta.

A low chuckle brought Heero’s attention back to Trowa. His arms were folded over his chest and his eyes crinkled with silent amusement. It was the kind of ridiculously smug look that made Duo stick his tongue out at him or Wufei threaten to punch him. He was sorely tempted to do the same. Instead he glared at him, the effect greatly diminished by Wufei sleepily kissing at neck. Damn if it wasn’t hard to be made and horny at the same time.

This just made the uni-banged man laugh more, his shoulders visibly shaking. Heero poked his tongue out at him.

“Don’t stick that out unless you intend to use it.”

“I will. Just not on you.” He was met with a disbelieving snort before the other stretched again and padded quietly from the room, leaving Heero to try and extract himself from the pile unassisted. ...Asshole.

Heero wiggle slightly to full assess his position. One set of arm was wrapped securely around his torso, he could tell by the way they tightened when a breathed that they were Wufei’s. Quatre’s arms were somewhere coiled loosely around his hips. The blonde’s head was pillowed on Heero’s chest, lazily nuzzling his skin in sleep. Duo was curled over Heero’s knees and calves, his head burrowed into Wufei’s hip. His own arm with useless, one curled beneath Quatre and the other trapped between his side and Wufei. In other words, there was no getting out of this without waking everyone up. This was why he didn’t sleep in the middle.

His moving hadn’t gone unnoticed either. He couldn’t stop the full body shiver the came over him when Quatre pressed his own half hard length against Heero’s thigh and ass cheek. Any attempt to get away from Quatre’s lazily rolling hips pressed him right against Wufei’s crotch, which was partly rubbed his own groin. His lazy chub was started to get fully erect, meaning more of that same slipper liquid was coming from his ass. At some point his movement must have disturbed Duo, because Deathscythe’s former pilot rolled onto his stomach and brought his arm down over Heero’s stomach, effectively pinning him in place.

The tiniest meow from the door offered him salvation from his sensual fate. He craned his neck as the bed shifted again. Noir, their 20 pound snowshoe cat stood expectantly on the corner of the bed, chirping at Heero the way she did every morning after she’d been gifted to him.

It was a long established rule between them that there was to be no sex if any of the cats were in the room. No so much because they were put off be by being watched (far from it most of the time), but one ill fated attack by Dagger on Trowa and Duo while they were fooling around had been enough for all of them to make sure door were firmly closed when clothing came off.

Heero made a soft clicking noise to call the cat up the bed, hoping her heavy paws would step on someone, thus making them move before Heero had to. She stepped around Wufei and over Duo’s back to flop down on only stop on Heero’s frame not covered by his lovers’ limbs at all. He looked down to glare at the traitor and received a kitten to the nose and a hearty purr for his trouble. No help whatsoever.

To add insult to injury, where Noir was, Cloak and Dagger were rarely far behind. Sure enough he could feel the little monsters clamber onto the bed. He wasn’t surprised when the large green eyes leaned into his field of vision and followed by a curious tawny colored paw, claws thankfully sheathed.

He let his head fall back into the bed and his eyes close in surrender. There was no winning this morning. He wondered what Dr. J and Dekim Barton would think if they could see what had become of their perfect soldier, an omega, mated to four men and pinned under three he could still easily lift but wouldn’t because he didn’t want to disturb them. Not that he particularly cared. Both men were dead and gone, and thus not not his problem anymore. It was more morbid curiosity at this point.

The soft click of a camera shutter stopped him from venturing towards that mental pitfall. His he head snapped up fast enough to jostle both Wufei and Quatre as leveled a glare at Trowa, who was now fully dressed, the lens of his camera phone pointed at the bed and a big smirk on his lips. (Well big by Trowa’s standards, which merely meant it was visible to the outside world.)

“I will kill you.”

“Love you too.” He glared at the silver otter box in lover’s lands. “And no hacking my phone.” He almost hated that they knew him that well.

“No death threats before caffeine.” Wufei, now more awake than he had been, mumble and pressed a kiss to Heero’s neck again. One dark eye opened a take in the European. “You leaving already.”

“In a few. You know how spaceports are.” It wasn’t a surprise. It was routine for Trowa to spend the bulk of his summer helping Catherine at the circus, only breaking during the busy season for his rutt before going right back to the ring.

Trowa made his way around the bed,kneeling over them. He bent in half and caught Wufei’s lips in a lazy kiss. A languid press of lips and tongue that drew a pleased moan from the drowsy Asian. Once satisfied he leaned further over the bed, hand braced above Heero’s head and on Wufei’s shoulder, and peppered kisses over Quatre face, moving down until he captured his lips. He nipped and lick at softly lips until the petit Alpha return the gesture, aquamarine eye fuzzy with sleep and pleasure.

Trowa sat back slightly and looked down at Heero with one thin brow raised confidently. Heero met his forest gaze with a petulant stare. It only last a few seconds before Trowa lean down and kisses him too. And despite himself he did him a little tongue.

“You’ll be okay while I’m gone?” It was not a question Heero expected to hear from the usually relaxed Alpha. But it was clearly a question.

“Why wouldn’t we be?” He didn’t get an answer, just a soft hum before green eyes flicked to Wufei and Quatre. Before Heero could but further voice to his confusion, Trowa press a kiss to his forehead and almost leapt off the bed.

“You know how to reach me if you need me.” Again Heero wasn’t sure what Trowa was getting at. He couldn’t help but think that there was something that Heero wasn’t accounting for.

Trowa paused to take in Duo’s sprawled body, still sound asleep, and now drooling on Wufei’s briefs. Heero could see the mischief in those green eyes, and judging by the giggles and snickers beside him so had the other two.

Trowa presses a light kiss to Duo’s bare should, one hand running down the braided pilot’s back tenderly. He savored the soft sighs as he slid his hand under the waistband of Duo’s short to push them down over the curve of his ass. With a quick glance up the bed as his companions and a sly smirk on his lip he struck, hard and fast across those pale cheeks five times.

The resulting yelp and tumble off the bed were worth the glare of betrayal Duo shot at them the floor, Trowa’s long legs having carried him out of the before Duo even sat up.

Crossing Paths by Kracken (Post-canon, NC-17, triggers, 1x2, 29 chapters, Complete) Heero finds Duo after the war, but all is not well with the former Deathscythe pilot. Heero quickly finds himself embroiled in government intrigue and a life or death struggle to save the self proclaimed 'Shinigami'.

It is a world that Duo has been undercover in for over a year and when the Preventers fear he may have gone rogue unexpected back up arrives...

Looking for a Little Romance by ExecutiveShrimp (AU, NC-17, 2x1, one shot, complete) Duo is no longer sure if he and Heero want the same things out of the relationship when Heero hints that he wants to get married.

Seven Days of Spring Break by ellewrites  (AU, NC-17, 8 chapters, 1x2, complete) Suffering from situational depression, Heero agrees to accompany his best friend and travel 900 miles to his hometown on their last spring break as undergrads. He didn't expect to meet a man who would make him question his very understanding of what it means to be happy.

Something Furry by Merula (Fantasy, Were AU, 1x2, 15 chapters + sidefics, complete) Heero is the only magician who could take off Duo’s curse. 

The Test by kuroiyousei (AU, PG, one shot, complete) In response to Heero’s tendency to date the biggest jerks on the planet, his friends have developed a screening process for all potential boyfriends. This latest guy seems like he might be up to scratch, but only if he can survive The Test.

Thousand Words by ExecutiveShrimp (AU, NC-17, triggers, 2x1, 22 chapters, complete) Duo and Heero have to share a dorm room in college and they become best friends. When they discover that neither has time for, nor interest in a girlfriend, they explore a friends with benefits relationship. But sex never remains uncomplicated.

Beautiful Symmetries by Maldoror (Post-canon, PG, 1+5/2+5, 7 chapters, complete) After the war, Wufei is glad to be alone. But two other pilots come back into his life, and that's when the trouble starts for the solitary dragon. 

Cadence by Kracken (Post-canon, NC-17, 1x5x2, 13 chapters, complete) Wu Fei is Duo Maxwell's partner. When they are both injured during a mission, and have to be taken care of by Heero Yuy, they discover things about each other that they never knew. 

Dragon’s Home by Kracken  (Post-canon, NC-17, 1x2x5, 11 chapters, complete) After a Preventer mission, Heero and Duo ask Wu Fei to join them on a mini vacation by a lake, but he soon discovers that all is not what it seems between the two and that he has a totally unexpected role to play in saving their relationship. 

Freeport by Maldoror (Post-canon, NC-17, 2x5, 35 chapters, complete) Freeport colony: a notorious den of pirates, smugglers and thieves. Wufei persuades one of its denizens, his one-time ally Duo, to help him catch a killer hiding there. Agent Chang thinks he knows what to expect, from this case, from Freeport and from Duo Maxwell. He couldn't be more wrong.

Life After Meteor by lifeaftermeteor (Post-canon, PG-13, mostly gen with 1x2/3x4/5xR, as of now 14 on-going slice of life series) Having survived the Eve War, the Gundam pilots are left to their own devices to chart the paths their lives will take in a world that none of them expected to live long enough to see. Peace is disorienting and growing up is hard to do.

One night series by Merula (AU, PG-13, 4+3,  12 chapters + sidefics complete) Trowa ends up being the center of a dangerous game of assassinations and politics.

Meditations on the Color Blue by Waterlilylf (AU, NC-17, 5x6, 15 chapters, completed) When Wufei takes a sabbatical to finish his new book, his aim to write loses focus due to noisy neighbours...but is that such a bad thing when one of them happens to be a handsome prince? 

Running with the moon series by Karen (Were AU, NC-17, 5x2, 3 long arcs, on-going) Duo Maxwell is an almost average guy in a small, rural town. He works at the only gas station for miles around, is gorgeous, but single. He also gets harrassed by the town's rich idiot. But what makes him different is that he's a clairvoyant; he can read thoughts by touch or he can simply 'hear' them. Kind of complicates matters. Yeah. So when he runs across a man whose thoughts he can't hear, although trying to gives him nosebleeds, he decides that that is a fair trade. That is until he finds out that the guy isn't a typical 'guy,' and that getting involved with him only leads to trouble...and a few dead bodies. 

Salvage by GoodIdeaAtTheTime  (Post-canon, NC-17, 2x5x2, 22 chapters, complete) Wufei has spent the time since the Mariemaeia uprising burying himself in work and avoiding society wherever possible. But with the opening of the final major HQ drawing closer, he's forced to face that maybe he's not needed any more. Overseeing the preparation for the opening on L2, he rekindles a friendship with someone he's not seen since the war, and wonders if adjusting the habits of a lifetime might not be so bad after all. 

Sensus Divinitatis by theplottinghousewife (Post-canon, R, Apocalypse, deathfic, 21 chapters on-going) It begins with a prophecy and ends with Judgement Day. What happens in between will determine the fate of the human race. The murders of the Gundam Pilots were only the catalyst. The beginning of the end.

So, GoT S8 E4 thoughts.

1. So, Dany is fucking losing her marbles. WHERE ARE MY DRAGONS. That coffin got nailed down. She’s was abused all through her childhood and is now feeling insecure and unloved when she had been so well-loved in Essos--a region which she grew up in and saw as nuanced, in a way she does not see Westeros. She thinks of being Queen as a position, her birthright, whereas she sees Essos from the ground up. The conversation between Tyrion and Varys was superficially illuminating on that topic--she has the added benefit of a miracle that made her feel like she was sent. 

I feel like GRRM would’ve given that conversation far more depth, but I also think that this is the best we’re gonna get, so. I’ll take what I can get and go write motherfucking fanfiction to take the edge off.

I can’t help but wonder what a time-traveling Viserys would do if dropped in the middle of Dany’s war camp post-Rhaegal’s death. Mostly just so I can watch Harry Lloyd make faces again. See folks, this is why we can’t have nice things.

2. Were the fucking watchstanders in Dany’s fleet all skating off??? I mean what the fuck, y’all. AND WHAT ABOUT DANY HERFUCKINGSELF. SHE’S LITERALLY GOT A DRAGON’S FLIGHT VIEW.

Also I really hope some dickhead with a bad sense of humor shows this scene during an OPSEC GMT. *cackles* Keep your fucking heads on swivels, folks.

3. They really just did Ghost and Rhaegal like that.

3a. To be entirely honest, I feel like these scenes would’ve played better had they had the character development and depth of the previous seasons. I feel like a lot of this episode would’ve payed off better with as much depth in the latter seasons as there was in the earlier.

3b. As far as character depth, the abandonment of Ghost, who was literally battle-scarred and bleeding still from risking his life for Jon and the symbolic abandonment of his Northern roots and the death of Rhaegal just felt really, really sudden. A lot of my issues with this episode go like that--they’re just ticking off activities on a list of “shit we have to do to wrap this up.” And, honestly, GRRM’s writing, notoriously organic and deeply detail oriented I write the same way, it’s a bitch, it’s not easy to keep that shit on  a schedule, and it gets to be like a mustard seed after a while would’ve probably lent a lot of internal processes that made more sense with perspective added to it, but doesn’t lend itself well to a television program on a schedule, so D&D are left with the awkward prospect of a time crunch and some unusually tricky material do wrap up. When I say the internal monologue would have helped, it’s kind of like how Catelyn Stark was to a degree only very sympathetic with the addition of her POV in the book, but that’s all internalized and not easy to show in a television show.

But, again, I don’t think GRRM is ever going to finish ASOIAF, so I’ll just write my fucking fanfiction and deal.

4. I’m still cheesed at Jaime, but having watched the scene again, I feel like, really, the poor man is making a decision he doesn’t want to have to make but feels obligated to make, and he’s not great with emotional...situations. He still better have a plan or so help me God this boy will catch these hands...

5.I’m a history and politics nerd so I really liked some of the conversations in this episode, even if I think they were a bit shallow.

6. Damn Sansa, you’ve come so far and I’m so proud of you.

7. Arya and the Hound Road Trip 2: Electric Boogaloo Aww yiss.

8. I feel like Gendry would’ve had more of a leg to stand on if the poor guy had just said “could you just pop back to Storm’s End every now and then and ride me hard” and Arya would’ve been like “cool sounds doable.” Because I could totally see Gendry standing in windows staring out at the rain, sighing, whispering Heero Arya. He just went off half cocked and excited.

9. Missandei is dead and I’m pissed about that. It didn’t even feel fucking necessary, just something awful to watch, and why would anyone know to target Missandei in particular? She’s important, but how the fuck does Cersei know that?

10. Overall, it just felt really, really rushed, there was one random mention of a Prince of Dorne, and I think that overall it would’ve benefited from the depth of an expanded timeframe. Characters are blowing past conversations and situations and time spans that would’ve taken whole seasons in previous years.

11. Bet Tyrion betrays her for love. I would be okay with this.

12. Sam’s purpose in this story is done and I’m still pissed at him about getting Edd killed, so I don’t even know if he’ll have any redeeming moments to drag him out of this doldrum before episode 6′s credits roll.

13. Tormund is a delight, as always.

14. I actually really disliked this episode, but I hated it more for thematic reasons than anything else, for reasons already discussed.

15. To be ENTIRELY fair to everyone, D&D included, they were never going to please everyone with whatever ending they cooked up. Someone was always going to complain that this or that wasn’t done well enough or it was overdone, or they wanted this or that ship to become canon. Ultimately, we know that GRRM gave D&D the waypoints to hit and the endgame, and at least we’re getting an ending. I’ll be content with that.

Posting my old stuff on AO3 mostly in order of when I originally posted it to LJ. First up is “Fix Me Up”, one of the first fics I ever successfully completed, back in 2007 (college! wow!) 

It has heavy shades of Maldoror’s “Domestic Bliss Arc” (the 2x1 lemon, the Preventers roommate situation, the Duo POV), not a shock since I love that series, but I think my characterization of Duo and Heero manage to be unique. I like Duo funny, but not un-serious, does that make sense? 

Anyway, for being some of the first smut I ever wrote I think this one came out pretty good. And I remember being very worried the missiony parts were boring, but now as a much older reader I enjoy that part the most. Strange!

It was addictive and a relief, and there wasn’t, there wasn’t any recrimination from either of them. Just run off and see an old flame, it’s cool, we’ll be here when you get back vibes.

Chapter Excerpt: "Treize Khushrenada was using us like a bunch of puppets," I muttered bitterly. Somehow, though Treize was my enemy, I felt a keen sense of betrayal, as if his deception had violated some unspoken law of combat. This betrayal was worse than Heero's. How, I could not explain, but I think this was when I really forgave him for stealing Deathscythe's parts. After all, Treize's machinations had hurt Heero more than they had me. I may have participated and supported, but Heero's was the hand that struck the final, murderous blow.
