I don't know much about music theory but here is something I have made and that I'm definitely right about.

Obviously correct as it is, I still feel compelled to provide further explanation. See below:

Okay? Okay. Good. Please feel free to contribute- if we all add something to the chart we can get this whole music thing completely squared away in no time.
Here you go, I've started this one:

How do you even explain to neurotypical people the way sometimes songs just fucking scratch an itch in your brain and make your chest open in the best way and fucking make you want to scream and cry and flap your hands and dance and ugh.

Hey, I've got an idea for a tag game!
Tell me
one artist/band you know at least one entire album by
one artist/band from whom you know literally two songs
>optional: include the name of the album and the song titles
I'll go first~
Know an entire album- Lewis Capaldi
Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent
Know literally two songs- Earth, Wind & Fire
"Let's Groove" and "September"
I feel like this is a pretty generic one- and the first I've ever started lol- so I'm just going to tag some of my moots, but if any of you don't want to participate that's totally fine, and anyone else is welcome to join!

The fact that music just exists is insane to me. Like we, as humans, have access to something that feels like you're getting visions from above or could feel like you're getting your soul ripped out. And all you have to do to achieve what feels like fading in and out of reality is press a button. The fact that that's a thing on the mortal plane of existence, and that someone could actually CREATE that, is still unbelievable to me. What. The fuck

chopin's prelude no. 4 in e minor
thinking about how the left hand is steady but low and slowly becomes lower in pitch as if it's deteriorating and falling down the keyboard while the right hand is like a bell tolling, steady and unchanging UNTIL THE STRETTO CLIMAX SECTION WHERE THE RIGHT HAND SOARS AND THE PIANO IS FORTE AND SUDDENLY ITS LIKE THUNDER IS BOOMING AND YOU CANT TAKE IT ANYMORE but then all is quiet again as if you learn not to speak of it and go back to the status quo and you play as if you're burning away.. UGH i love chopin

I feel like I’m living in some weird ass mirror world because wtf would possess you to say that ONLY neurodivergent people make art…??????
This is a real actual “discourse” happening on tiktok rn. What. The. Fuck.
Like yes, a lot of incredibly famous and talented artists were mentally ill or neurodivergent or both but that doesn’t mean we’re the only ones that paint?? That doesn’t mean all painters are autistic??? That doesn’t mean autistic people are the only ones who “truly appreciate” music????????
Also, only slightly related, but I very much resent the use of the term neurodivergent as a synonym for autism and only autism. Like. People. There are a hundred and one ways you can be non-neurotypical. STOP.

Remembering the Magic of Cassette Tapes
Do you remember the days when music was something you could hold in your hands? When you had to rewind and fast forward to find your favorite song? When mixtapes were a labor of love, carefully crafted to express your deepest emotions?
For many of us, the cassette tape holds a special place in our hearts. It was the soundtrack to our lives, the way we discovered new music and shared our favorite songs with friends. We spent hours poring over liner notes and lyrics, memorizing every word and every beat.
In this image, we see a vintage cassette tape, a relic of a bygone era. It's a reminder of the magic and nostalgia that comes with listening to music the old-fashioned way. It's a reminder of the way things used to be, when music was more than just a digital file on a screen.
So let's take a moment to remember the joy and wonder of cassette tapes. Let's celebrate the way they brought us together, and the memories they helped us create. And let's keep their spirit alive, even as we embrace new ways of listening to music.

My favourite song that I relate to the experience of having BPD is 'Curses' by The Crane Wives
I'm not very good with lyric analysis so I'm taking most of this from luckyleftie on TikTok
It's described as a song about a person who's 'imploding in on themself from old pains and trauma' which perfectly describes the way BPD feels (atleast for me). The feeling of crumbling apart but not knowing how to fix it
There's also the aspect of everything the person says or does only making the situation worse. This is, in my experience, a very common experience for many of us. We try to be better, we try to cope but no matter what we do we end up harming ourselves and those around us
Finally, the singer expresses how their partner is their only safe escape from it all which I connect to the experience of having a favourite person. They feel like the perfect way to get away from all the stress and issues of your daily life
I know this doesn't seem too positive but I see it as a nice way to feel heard when the world around us feels so judgmental towards our issues and problems
Anyways The Crane Wives' music is amazing, thankyou for coming to my TedTalk

I think I used to WRONGLY dismiss Maps of Non-Existent Places by Thank You Scientist since it was a first album and those tend to have quite a bit of jank, but after a couple more listens, woweee, it's so freaking good!!!
Maybe I'm super wrong, but I think the choruses give off j-rock vibes (in chord progressions, generally optimism, or just the sorta dancey rhythms??), and so I didn't give it as much credit cuz I've heard that before and not as unique?
But, yeah, on more listens, those choruses (especially in Carnival and Absentee) are so dang refreshing and provide so much catharsis to the awesome classic Thank You Scientist instrumentals and verses. Dunno if this makes any sense, basically I really love this album cuz of the slightly different vibes to the other two albums
