My game recommendations
I had a reblog in my drafts folder for a couple of days to keep working on it and when I was done I saw that the original poster sadly deactivated reblogs on their post. They lovingly suggested that simmers should indulge in other games too, and I couldn't agree more. It is a special feeling to dive into a new game, learn new mechanics, and have a very different experience from the last game you played. I really put a lot of work into my answer, so I decided to make a new post for it.
I'm a simmer and a gamer (simming since 2000), gaming since 1994 or so. I used to play Everquest II way back when and dabble in Elder Scrolls Online but I quit for Baldur's Gate III which has me obsessed for months now, highly enjoyable. Sims 3 has fallen a few steps on my top 10 list in recent years, but I use it as a creative outlet anyway and do not tend to judge it against other games much. I do judge Sims 4 though, which is a sad state of affairs. I can have fun in it if I spend the time in CAS, or for the first 6 hours in a new expansion - but it's just too expensive for its little value, especially compared to other games on this list.
City Builder/Automation games:
Factory Town: super chill cozy vibe, automate logistics for your pixel-people town. Lovely game
Timberborn: build a town for cute beavers!
Farthest Frontier: a nice city simulation with some logistics and events such as raiders invading the town
Satisfactory: one of the most ambitious automation games, with amazing graphics, for people who like to puzzle, analyze/calculate, and really use their heads while gaming. I like to play it as a challenge and see how far I can take my spaghetti conveyor belts!
Frostpunk: a harrowing/grim atmosphere, dystopian, make hard choices for your town
Simulation games:
Roller Coaster Tycoon and Planet Coaster: I love building super scary rollercoasters and then riding them and trying to get people in the park to ride them too
Strategy games:
Anno 1800: I can spend my entire life in this game it feels, it is engaging and relaxing all at once - love this so much!
Action/adventure games:
Assassins Creed Origins: stunning world, super detailed visuals and fun combat mechanics
Scifi/Exploration
No Man's Sky: At first I thought this was more of a casual game, but prepare for a lot of grinding and long-ish quests. It is fun to discover new plants/creatures and name them!
Survival games:
Raft: great to play with friends too and it has a relaxed vibe but also survival mechanics that keep you engaged
The Long Dark: I love the art style and music so much, the story mode is great, the survival mode can be very challenging depending on settings and it is super immersive. Wrap yourself in a warm blanket to play 😂
Subnautica: my favorite game ever before Baldur's Gate 3 dethroned it! It is a game that will guide you to leave your comfort zone time and time again, but you choose when you feel ready for it. You can really follow your own pace and exploring the vast, beautiful, and terrifying depths of this ocean planet is absolutely immersive and filled with surprise and wonder. It has also very chill and calm base-building elements to counteract the scarier moments. The soundtrack is one of the best in terms of evoking feelings/ building atmosphere, do not turn off the sound while playing this game!!!
Storytelling games:
Life is Strange: a classic, it's fun to explore what we could change and what the consequences would be if we could go back in time.
Firewatch: very emotional and touching, leaving a lasting impression
Casual games:
Bridge Constructor Portal (the dark humor is a bonus, it's fun and trains your analytical thinking!)
Carcassonne (like the tabletop game, chill puzzle game)
Simulacra (you uncover a mystery on a phone, interesting idea!)
Retro Games:
My favorite old/retro game would be Black & White (from 2001), which I played when it originally came out, I loved it so much! The free camera was revolutionary at the time. You play a god who is powered by worshippers whom you can either provide and care for or reign terror over, and your actions decide your alignment, good, neutral, or evil. You get a creature that you can train (and will be more or less useful to your goals or disrupt them depending on how well you train it). IIRC, you can train the creature either in the story mode or sandbox/skirmish mode and then go back to story mode with a stronger creature. The mouse gestures which activate miracles in the air felt like a revolutionary new idea back then. The game is not available officially anymore, but it is downloadable from some abandonware websites and the community-made patches so it is still playable today! Writing this, I had to reinstall it right away... the nostalgia!
RPGs:
Cyberpunk 2077: it's just iconic, the city energy and car drives are nice, the story is interesting and it feels immersive
The Witcher 3: great quests and story, beautifully crafted open world
Baldur's Gate 3: I could also talk for hours about Baldur's Gate 3. If there is one game out there that everyone should have tried once in their life, it's that one. It really lets you try any strategy you want and did not actually expect to work in a video game, but in BG3, it does. Even cheaty ones like pushing enemies from a cliff or using explosives to blow stuff up. If you got surprise-attacked but have no weapon handy, you can throw a grease bottle at the enemy that can make them slip and fall, and then you can throw your burning torch at it to light everything on fire. You can stack boxes to climb up to reach something (or throw a goblin body onto someone's head, because it's perfectly normal to carry those around with you). You can be sneaky and steal stuff, even rewards from enemies. Don't like fighting? You can talk your way out of most fights if your character has the necessary skills and still complete quests that way. 95% of NPCs have something to say, and if you click them again, they will have another line. The narrator is awesome. The companions have so much character, the banter is great and every character has its own story arc and goal, the voice acting is phenomenal all around. Definitely get the talk-to-animals skill and use it on all animals, you'll have hilarious conversations! It's worth every penny, even if it's not on sale (and I hardly ever buy a game at full price, so that is saying a lot). Thanks for reading, I hope you feel inspired to try some new games! Have fun 😊

I really want everyone to be playable in wario party (mario party but fast) but i also want everyone to have a wario party board. I want to have it all
Everything past this point is diagnostic info for my doctor↓
Orbulon: a space world obviously but you can get ate by the giant planet in warioware twisted and lose your coins or maybe a star if you suck bad enough. This one would be fucked up compared to the other boards in some way, maybe upside down, maybe in 5/4 time. I dont know. Shops are run by alien bunnies.
Mona: pizza world. Sorry girl but i am typecasting you as pizza. At first i thoguht it should be like koopas tycoon town where the more pizzas you sell the more star you get, or something, but no. You walk on a giant pizza. The spaces are pepperonis. Its what she would have wanted
Jimmy T- Club sugar everything is DANCING THEMED and if you land on a special space then you have to do a dance off where you move the switch/wiimote/whatever like its just dance in the correct formation or else you lose everything. Dance fucker dance like you never had a chance.
9-volt: Awww fuck. Th
INTERMISSION: i cant stop saying Aw fuck i got the meat sweats in the fucked up meatwad voice vinny uses in his warioware dubs. Sorry if this affects my communication in any way.
e obvious answer would be making it inside a giant gameboy, or Gamecube, remember the mario kart battle track/nintendogs house that was just a giant DS? This. But its also like, you're shrunk real tiny and inside someones house, on their giant gamecube. Theres nintendo references everywhere natch and all of the sound effects are changed to become chiptunes. You can get punched out by Punch-Out from Punch-Out.
Ashley: Its a haunted house. Whaddaya want.
Dr. Crygor: so the obvious thing to do here is to make it be themed around his laboratory but SIKE, pennys got the lab, instead Dr Crygor is leaning into the "tropical deserted island" theme that surrounds his laboratory and you get to be eaten by a giant plant! Yaaay
I kinda wanna have this be like a survivor style total drama thing where you can get voted off the island somehow
Kat and ana: This one would be really somber and depressing for no reason.
Dribblenspitz: They should get a dusty route 66 desert highway filled with drag racers and whatnot, like whatever they are doing in warioware diy wii version. Orbulon took the space theme but it would be mean to just plop them in diamond city so its only fair.
wario: It would be a treasure land, packed with music boxes and golden pyramids and such so that the wario land people dont get on my case. Instead of stars your goal is to get as many coins as possible and there are so many ways to steal coins from people that it is impossible to keep the lead for more than 2 seconds.
Kat and ana: I changed my mind i want to explain this one for real now anyways it would be a ninja land obviously and there would be like, ninjas appearing and disappearing in places.....like you could teleport across the board and the game would be like oh its a ninja thing. You know? Lots of trickery afoot.
Waluigi: Secret level. The boss level actually. Hes pissed off that you didnt invite him to the wario party. You have to shoot him in the nose

Yet another mini Geats meta, like as much as the series have it's ups and downs... when it comes to powerups... the show had their heads straight when it comes to KeiAce.
Like it's not just due to the colour motives, but their whole themes being very on point.
I mean, just comparing the base (most compatible buckle) to the final forms (not counting Oneness and Dooms)
🍃🍃🍃🍃🍃
Ace
Geats Magnum/Geats Boost -> Geats IX
Normal Geats -> Celestial Geats (One-tailed fox [two in case of Geats Boost MK II ]-> Nine-tailed fox)
Guns/Speed -> Gunsword/powers of creation
Keiwa
Tycoon Ninja -> Bujin Sword
Ninja -> Shogun (Normal Tanuki -> Feral Tanuki)
Shuriken/Tanto/Twin blade -> Tachi/powers of destruction
Not to mention the whole Yin & Yang, Moon/Sun thing that KeiAce had, you can really see how between the main forms and final form, KeiAce forms really being very on theme and consistent for both forms AND complement each other. Like between the main form to final form, it DID feel like an upgrade...
-------
But you can't really see much consistency in the theme of Neon and Michi forms, do you?
I mean...
Neon
Na-Go Beat -> Fantasy
Music/Sound -> Magic/Illusion (Cat -> Nekomata)
Axe guitar/Fire -> Magic/Unlimited bladeworks ?????
Michinaga
Buffa Zombie -> Ploison Rage
Cold (?) Undead -> Explosive rage ??? Volcano Dark matter/ghost/evil spirit?** (Buffalo -> Demon Bull)
Claws/Chainsaw -> Clawshield???
Like look at Na-go/Buffa main form and final form... aside from the animal motives, did the other stuff have any correlation with each other? (Like how it was for KeiAce?) Nope! Seriously their 'upgrades' felt off.
I mean I do like Beat and Fantasy (And Fantasy did suit Neon's personal growth as she took advantage of her unique existence) but what's the correlation between Beat and Fantasy? Why an upgrade to Beat equals Fantasy?
Same with Zombie and Ploison. Like Ploison buckle did have the demon vibe.... but the armour din feel very demony (like what demon wear silver armor?) but the clawshield really felt like a downgrade. You mean to say an upgrade to having a cool chainsaw that also shoots out poison... was to get a lame ass giant shield?
It really feels like whoever's in charge of Na-Go/Buffa powerups really didn't put too much thoughts in them as compared to Tycoon/Geats. I mean, as much as Geats and Tycoon did also share mutual powerups (Boost MK II & Command Jet/Cannon*), those powerups still fit them very well.
Tl;dr.... KeiAce still the best 😃😃😃😃😃
*imma not counting Buffa's use of Command Jet... cos compared to KeiAce, Michi sucks at using Command form lol. And sadly, we never got to see Neon use Command form... do we? (Shame...)
**As much as some ppl might argue that Ploison was supposed to be more plant than an upgrade to the undead theme, i just don't see it. Also even if taking count on the Jyamato cells, the Jyamato were basically plant creatures that consume dead bodies anyway... you can't exactly remove the undead/evil element out of Ploison.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

i've gotten back into plant tycoon - a diary entry
so. my sister got me plant tycoon on steam for my birthday.
Tumblr media
for those who are unaware, plant tycoon is a fun little game made in 2007 by the (defunct) company Last Day of Work - they have the best opening jingle of all time, it's literally just angelic_choir.mp3
it's mostly an idle game - you plant seeds (that take a few hours to grow), then crossbreed them (which takes a few hours to produce seeds) then sell the plants to get better soil to plant more plants.
there's also some magic plants that are, ostensibly, the objective - the Excuse Plot is that you're rediscovering seeds from an isolated island and said island had magic in it. The magic plants will make magic come back!
Tumblr media
i had this game as a child and, since i was A Very Innatentive Child (as in i had undiagnosed ADHD) i usually forgot to put the game on slow mode and lost all my plants, which made me uninstall, then i remembered i love the game and installed it again, rinse and repeat.
except, i'm no longer an innatentive child - i am now an Adult that Hyperfixates on things. and guess what
Tumblr media
i decided that i'm not using the plant tycoon wiki (yes, there's a wiki. yes, it's VERY complete) to figure out magic plants. so i made a (still incomplete) plant calculator and crossbreeding tables, as well as a discovery chronology
Tumblr media
except - this is a game that's meant to be played as an IDLE game. so i'm occupying my time with... figuring out everything about this idle game. that already has, as mentioned before, a fully finished and very thorough wiki
Tumblr media
anyway, play plant tycoon (2007)! it's a relaxing, fun little idle game with good music. (i still might make something similar to it in godot at some point.)

everything.
When I woke up this morning and took a shower, I fished a travel bottle of mouth wash out of the bathroom closet and rinsed my mouth with it. It reminded me of a summer long ago, one with my mouth riddled with braces, picante chicken instant noodles, and the taste of mouthwash.
On a whim, after my shower, I walked through the nearby woods to the Shop 'n' Save to buy a packet of picante chicken instant noodles. Nothing was going to keep me from re-experiencing "Spicy Mouthwash Ramen".
On my way through the woods, I'd walked through one of my favorite places in my hometown--a clearing overgrown with wildflowers, specifically teasels. There's something about their shape that's so alluring and eerie. I'd discovered this clearing back right before the pandemic, back when we were both younger. We've both grown since then. What was once a somewhat-barren woods had grown into a lush wonderland for all the local plants.
In the store, I'd bought several packets of picante chicken instant noodles, alongside a can of miso soup, some cans of SpaghettiOs, and a cup of Campbell's chicken noodle sipping soup--something I hadn't indulged in since the autumn of 2017. I've bought it only for the nostalgia.
I also bought some licorice tea. To me, licorice tea feels like nostalgia. I can't explain it very well. It just does. There's no taste when you first sip it down, but once the tea water's rinsed down your throat, there's a melancholy sweet taste that rises in the back of your throat. I'd highly recommend it if you've never tried it.
Once I'd come back home, I swished some more mouthwash for that authentic "Spicy Mouthwash Ramen" experience, and sipped down the flavorful broth of my cheap noodle soup. (Seriously. I'm probably slowly killing myself with how much of it I eat.) I watched the Vinesauce video where the guy plays RollerCoaster Tycoon--because watching people build stupid mazes, G-force maximizers, and phallic structures is always funny. Also because that video specifically is associated with that very specific memory of "Spicy Mouthwash Ramen" I'd formed years ago.
And the ramen doesn't taste *bad* with the hint of artificially-minty mouthwash lingering in your mouth. It adds to the flavor, somehow. I've spent some time today brainstorming how one could actually prepare that flavor--sans mouthwash.
Then I'd spent some time looking at Google Street View. Not to brag, but I've got over 100,000 views on my Street View 360 photos--specifically one I took in a dying mall back in 2019. I still remember taking that picture--without a dedicated 360 camera, it was tricky using my phone to capture all the angles of the area. It was worth it, though.
I dropped the little yellow lad in front of my own home and scrolled to the oldest photos available. Again, there's something intensely nostalgic about how fuzzy these images are and how cold the tree-covered sky looks within this 360 window into the past.
After that short trip, I'd continued work on my game. After days on end of making little to no progress programming wise, I'm happy to say that we're back in business now!
Today was dedicated to setting up the player's attack structure. How it'll work is that every time the player wants to attack, a new object that's programmed to manage that attack is created, and is put in charge of moving the player around and tracking how much damage the attack should do for pre-defined timing windows.
I'm really proud of the system so far. It's not much, but it's progress. And on a journey of a thousand steps, every step matters. This is probably somewhere around step 53 or something--I'm still just beginning, but this is where I start to pick up steam. The hardest part when making a new game is developing the frameworks for everything. Once you've got systems to easily create new attacks and such, the process shifts from programming-oriented stuff more towards story, graphics, and music-related stuff.
Today I also started playing a game called Balatro. It's a game I've had my eye on for a while, and I finally bought it today. Simply put, it's a poker game where you play hands to build up multipliers to beat levels and get money. It's really complicated--you'd have to watch someone or play it yourself to fully understand it. It's also wicked fun. I'm kind of frustrated with how fun it is. It's too fun watching numbers go up and shit.
Finally, earlier this evening, I'd run out to pick up presents for upcoming celebrations (my brother's birthday and Father's Day). While buying them books from Half Price Books (by the way, shop there! Books are stupid cheap used!), I came across a textbook on Modern Algebra and the mathematics of soccer.
Of course, being the nerd I am, I scooped them up without hesitation.
Looking forward to studying ring theory and that garbage!
...
And now here I am.
Typing out a summary of my day today.
Because it was too hard to pick just one part and focus on it.
I don't know.
I start my internship next week. I'm not exactly looking forward to it, but I suppose it's better than doing nothing all summer.
Other than that, though, I'm looking forwards to the future. Lots of highly anticipated games coming soon, like World of Goo 2 and UFO 50.
My own game is something else I'm excited for.
I will finish something this time.
I can't wait for all of you guys to play it.
...
Anyway, see you all later!

REWATCH: Skam Italia s4 - Episode 2
I couldn’t stop laughing at Federico saying she was getting her nail varnish on. The slutty nail varnish 😂
Ah Sana and her peaceful time with birds hanging from her ceiling! So cute and so serene.
I know Rami is a BIG BROTHER and so it automatically means he has this push and pull thing with Sana but it broke my heart when he said he didn’t want people to bully her again. Which is that reference to the O-Sana-Bin Laden stuff (which obvs gets handled) and how she clearly had a hard time. I just love though that she stands there and asks why she can’t go to the beach too. She deserves, like anyone, the same experiences and that hurt to realise that’s the detail to which people question her behaviour.
But Malik. HE WAY HE SAYS HELLO. That soft “ciao”. Lordy. He’s the softest and loveliest.
PERVY BAMBI. I missed that the first time! Hahahahahaha Nico.
Sana disappearing into that social media rabbit hole or “instagram induced coma”...the things around her melting away... we see Malik as this whole person full of smiles and silliness and passions and then Nico. OOF.
Seeing Nico in those photos was so painful. He looked so happy, so full of fun and surrounded by the boys. That glimpse into his past. We knew it went wrong and something happened but to see what he left behind is really upsetting. We know now why but... the second you see those photos it reminds you of how we met Nico and how he was frightened to let Marti close to him... how he backed off like all Evens do but GOD does it make sense now even more for Nico
SO HAPPY Marti and Sana still do radio together. We could all see Marti secretly enjoyed it at the end of s2 and the fact he kept it up is so nice. This little thing he thought was so nerdy and silly!
The party scene. When this came on... the music, the atmosphere and the cosy feeling of it... it’s another Ludo special! I LOVE the feel of this scene
Marti tickling Gio’s face while he was kissing Sofia... HE IS A LITTLE SHIT.
Chicco Rodi. MAN, MYTH, GOD just dancing away in a flower necklace... 😂😂😂 he’s so chaotic! I love that little shot of Silvia dancing too... she is soooooo cute!
Sana in this grey headscarf is STUNNING.
That shot of the thunder storm. LUDO. He is weak for aesthetics and it didn’t even feature again 😂 so beautiful though
The way Sana says “mammmmi” makes me want to cuddle her so damn much
Chicco Rodi like some sort of tycoon in his pseudo celebrity house with Rocco sitting there like a mute bodyguard/man slave is pure comedy!
Tricky Trap featuring once more. Sana still working on it, frustrated she can’t work it out. I am a slave to Ludo’s metaphors, dudes!
Malik being into cooking and Sana’s brain is like “marrrrrryyyyyyy me” 😂
I love their little chat. Malik is so gentle as a person. He is so respectful of her wishes and the WAY HE LOOKS AT HER. He’s just so gone. His being into nature and plants and agriculture makes him so interesting but also there’s this theme of the natural world to him, this softness and authenticity. The dude works happily with plants and kids. What a man!

The Sims Lifetime Want (LTW) Challenge (TS4)
AIM
To achieve as many of the Lifetime Want goals (or adapted variants) from The Sims 2 within as few generations as possible as part of your Sims 4 legacy. If you run out of successors to your legacy then you fail the challenge and are free to start again (using the same sim if you wish). Some of these are a piece of cake, and others.. not so much. Enjoy!
Note: The LTW goals and scoring vary depending upon the packs you have – LTW goals are listed by pack (in release order) with your maximum total score beside it.
RULES
- Start with 1 YA sim  - Keep life stages at normal (or short if you’re a masochist) - Unless stated otherwise, only ONE sim is to complete a LTW goal, but each sim can complete multiple LTW goals, e.g.:   Bob, Betty, and Brandi can all work towards/complete as many LTW goals as they want, but they cannot help eachother (no sim can work on the same LTW goal at the same time as another sim).  Brandi can inherit some LTW goals, provided Bob and Betty do not keep working on them. Brandi must do it on her own.
Not Permitted:
- No cheats (MO and testingcheats are permitted, provided that the latter does not affect the legacy or LTW progress such as relationships, needs, income etc (e.g: no tampering with motive/need decay, no add/remove from family, no clear marriages, no tampering with public image, no using the gigs picker) - No mods that affect the legacy or LTW progress such as relationships, needs, income etc (see above) - No resetting the age of a sim (e.g.: with Potion of Youth, the essence from a cow plant, Age-Away serum, or in CAS etc) - Ghost and vampire sims cannot contribute towards/complete LTW goals - No reloading (for any reason!) - No death flowers
Permitted:
- The Wishing Well (Romantic Garden Stuff Pack)
LTW GOALS – BASE GAME (score out of 23)
Reach Golden Anniversary (Adapted for TS4) As you cannot throw an anniversary party in Sims 4, you instead must earn Gold on your Wedding social event by completing the following tasks:
- Betrothed sims to have full Romance and full Friendship bars - Get married (who knew?!) - Have at least one guest sim watch the ceremony - Kiss - Make 3 drinks  - Talk to guests for 2 hours  - Take the first slice (of cake)  - Eat food 4 times  - Make a toast
Then (because that was far too easy), you must earn Gold on a Dinner Party when the couple are both Elders, completing the following..
Dinner Party: - Married couple to have full Romance and full Friendship bars (put the effort in - I know I never do..) - Call guests to meal  - Have 3 sims listen to music simultaneously  - Thank sims for coming  - Make party-sized portion of Garden Salad  - Tell 2 jokes (whoa, calm down)  - Have 3 sims be playful simultaneously - Have 3 sims drinking simultaneously (tea and coffee also count)  - Make a dessert - Make tea or coffee  - Make 3 drinks (from the bar) - Make a toast
Marry Off 6 Children  - All marriages accepted and celebrated, whether straight or LGBTQ+  - All must earn a Silver or Gold Wedding social event score
Have 6 Children Abducted by Aliens* Rather self-explanatory
Have 6 Grandchildren - The sim must be alive for the birth of all 6 of their grandchildren, but not necessarily present/living on the same lot  - Alien babies do count
Earn $100,000  - By any means necessary provided it is earned (not inherited or scammed - I’m looking at you, black widows)  - You are allowed to use the Nanocan Touchless trash can - Only one sim can contribute to the total, so keep track of their income separately (this is earnings, not net worth/profit/anything complicated - just add up everything they earn)
Max Out 7 Skills (Adapted for TS4) - Max out 7/10/15 skills
Have 20 Simultaneous Best Friends (Adapted for TS4)  - Full Friendship bar with 20 sims simultaneously
Have 20 Simultaneous Lovers (Adapted for TS4)  - Full Romance bar with 20 sims simultaneously
Woohoo with 20 Different Sims  (It’s up to you whether Mess Around counts or not, personally I would feel weird encouraging that) Sidenote: If you find relationship building  too easy, feel free to try for 50 and just mention it in your score!
 Have 50 First Dates
Have 50 Dream Dates* - Can be with the same sim or as many sims as you like
Eat 200 Grilled Cheese Sandwiches  -   ..Eat 200 grilled cheeses dude - Complete the (hidden) Grilled Cheese aspiration*
Become Hall of Famer  - Reach the top of the Professional Athlete branch of the Athlete career track - Complete the Bodybuilder aspiration
Become Business Tycoon  - Reach the top of the Management branch of the Business career track  - Complete the Mansion Baron aspiration
Become Criminal Mastermind (Adapted for TS4) - Reach the top of the Criminal career track in either branch (Oracle or Boss) - Complete the Public Enemy aspiration
Become Celebrity Chef  - Reach the top of the Chef branch of the Culinary career track  - Complete the Master Chef aspiration
Become Professional Party Guest (Adapted for TS4)  Sims 4 doesn’t have the gem that is the Slacker career track, so instead fulfil the following:  - Earn Gold for at least one of every social event* - Complete the Party Animal aspiration
Become Game President (Adapted for TS4) - Reach the top of the eSports Gamer branch of the Tech Guru career track  - Complete the Computer Whiz aspiration
Become Space Pirate (Adapted for TS4)  Unfortunately there’s no Adventurer career in Sims 4, so we’ll settle for:  - Reach the top of the Interstellar Smuggler branch of the Astronaut career track
Become Media Magnate (Adapted for TS4)  - Reach the top of the Journalist branch of the Writer career track - Complete the Bestselling Author aspiration
Become Rock God (Adapted for TS4)  - Reach the top of the Musician branch of the Entertainer career track  - Complete the Musical Genius aspiration
Become Presitidigitiditigiditdititator (Adapted for TS4)  - Reach the top of the Comedian branch of the Entertainer career track  - Complete the Joke Star aspiration
Become Visionary (Adapted for TS4)  - Reach the top of either branch of the Painter career track (Master of the Real or Patron of the Arts)  - Complete the Painter Extraordinaire aspiration
Become City Planner (Adapted for TS4)  Yes, the gaming community that loves to build has no in-game Architect career, so we’ll have to go for this instead:  - (Re)Design and (re)build all lots in all neighbourhoods, including residential and commercial.
LTW GOALS – GET TO WORK (+4 points)
Own 5 Top Level Businesses (Inheritable goal) - Can be passed down or across to a successor (sibling/cousin/child/niece/nephew) but can only be owned and run by one sim at a time. - All 5 businesses must be one of the following, though you do not need to make every type: Store Bakery  Restaurant (Dine Out Game Pack) Vet clinic (Cats & Dogs Expansion Pack) - Items crafted by your sim do not count unless they are sold within a shop format. They do not count if sold from the inventory/easel/Plopsy etc
Become Captain Hero (Adapted for TS4)  - Reach the top of the Detective career track
Become Chief of Staff  - Reach the top of the Doctor career track
Become Mad Scientist (Adapted for TS4) - Reach the top of the Scientist career track  - Complete the Nerd Brain aspiration
LTW GOALS – GET TOGETHER (+1 point)
Become World Class Ballet Dancer (Multiple sims permitted) (Adapted for TS4)  - Every sim in the generation must max the Dancing skill
LTW GOALS – CITY LIVING (+1 point)  Become Mayor (Adapted for TS4)  - Reach the top of the Politian career track
LTW GOALS – CATS & DOGS (+3 points)
Raise 10/15/20 puppies or kittens  You may choose easy, intermediate, or hard mode here (easy being 10, 20 being hard) - Puppies or kittens must be bred by two parent dogs/cats that live in the household, not created in CAS or adopted into the household

 SCORING
Your score is the number of generations it took you to complete all of the LTWs (so the lower the better) out of how many LTW goals you had access to, for example:
Base Game (23 goals) + Get Together (1 goal) + Cats & Dogs (3 goals) + Island Living (2 goals)
= 29 total LTW goals and therefore possible LTW goals available to complete.
So imagine I completed these 29 goals in 8 generations, I would post my score as:
G8:29LTW
The higher your LTW number (here as 29), the harder your legacy was because you had more LTW goals to achieve.  The lower your G number (here as 11), the faster you achieved your LTW goals.
Feel free to share this with your simmer buddies, and to post your experiences, screenshots, questions, tips, or scores!  You can check out more of my Sims 4 content on my YT channel (carrioakeSIMS)

Day 6: Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town
Tumblr media
There was a long time where simulation or simulation-like games held no appeal to me. I tried getting into the Sims games or Tycoon Games, but they never stuck. Either they get far too complicated for me to commit to or I’d just find the god-mode option, wreak havoc and be done with it. That’s where Harvest Moon changed things up. I hadn’t played any of the Harvest Moon games until the GBA release, and even then, I didn’t really have a good idea as to what the game really was. I knew it was a farming game and there were adorable cows. Beyond that, I didn’t know how the mechanics worked and I certainly didn’t know how addicting the series could be. The more modern take on the series, Stardew Valley takes a lot of queues from the Harvest Moon series and improves on them, but it’s fun to revisit what makes the series fun.
Save the Tomatoes!
I have never felt more stressed about crops than waking up in-game, seeing a hurricane in the forecast and panicking all my hard organization farm work was about to be destroyed. While in other games, your concern comes from taking damage and losing your health, Harvest Moon has you worrying about making enough money to let your farm grow through seasonal crops, new barn animals and tools that help you speed up the farming process. The space for your crops is large though you will need to clean it up at the start of the game or after the occasional storms. The day is short, and the seasons pass every 30 days, so optimizing your work is key to raking in as much cash as possible. Planting your crops requires you to water every spot you’ve planted them and using the wrong equipment or running over them will prevent them from growing. At the beginning of the game, this can be a slow process, but over time you’re able to build objects that will help automate the process. And this is just speaking about crops. It gets just as complicated when you start raising animals.
Even with all the complications, farming is a relatively relaxing process. I spent several in-game days meticulously organizing the crops and fences and paths for what worked best for me. Being able to water my crops in the morning, collect everything, go to the bin and sell them all while still being able to do the non-farming things was an enjoyable process. Getting the equipment upgrades was a good enough incentive to keep a steady flow of income coming in as it not only made farming easier, they shiny new equipment looked nice! However, farming is an aspect of the game that I would say isn’t the actual pull of the game. Its there to facilitate the rest of the game.
Marry Me! I have Wine!
The part of the game that kept me going were the friends in Mineral Town. The NPCs in town offer side-quests and relationship building. Most of it comes down to giving them certain items until they befriended you, but that also meant I was looking forward to the seasons where I could grow a specific crop or buy a specific item.  just so I could raise a friendship level. And although the NPCs follow every known trope, the conversations were interesting enough at the time to want to keep talking to them. Each NPC has their own birthdays which I had written down on some pieces of paper, and there are special events held throughout the year. They were usually just instances where everyone in town was gathered in an area with some basic dialogue followed by a cutscene of whatever the event was for. I want to reiterate, this wasn’t anything mind-blowing or particularly new, it was just something to look forward to and gave me a reason to keep my farm running.
And then there was the part of the game that let you marry a resident of Mineral Town. I chose Karen mainly because I had amounted so much money, I could keep buying wine from her own store and give it to her. Did I exploit that? Yes. Do I feel bad? Not at all. Somewhere, on a game cart somewhere, Karen and my character are still raising their un-aging child.
Digging, Fishing, Chopping
Finally, beyond the farm, there are tons of resources to gather. You could go fishing in one of the different lakes or rivers and work your way up to catching some rare legendary fish. You could chop down a whole bunch of trees until you have enough wood to upgrade your house and build farm structures. Or you could take on the mines, which are probably the real challenge of the game. Going deeper into the mines requires careful management of your stamina and time. If you don’t come stocked up with enough recovery items, you’ll be too exhausted to continue, though you still want to have enough room to keep the treasures you find. You also can’t go too slow, or else you’ll slip past your automatic bedtime, which ends up wasting another day as your character is negatively affected for the next little while. I enjoyed spending a few days to prepare the resources to try and get as deep into the mine as possible. It wasn’t stressful per se, but it was satisfying when I could test out new ways to go deeper into the mines and come back with some very valuable treasures.
 In Conclusion…
Do you like the idea of light farming simulation with light relationship building and a compact world full of mildly interesting things to find? Then this might be a game for you. It has minor management and problem solving as you try and prepare your farm for the oncoming season while also trying to maintain a steady income every day. There is no time limit but moving slowly doesn’t have any good pay off either. You could go ahead and play Stardew Valley, as it is ultimately easier to play these days, and improves on almost every mechanic. But there is a sort of polish in the animations and mechanics in this game that make it easier on the eyes. The artwork is adorable, and the music (especially the winter music) works well as a package. Harvest Moon is not going to make you rethink gaming or anything grandiose like that, but it is the kind of game that I might choose to play over the options of games on mobile devices or other rip-offs (or homages).

Penn Zero: Masquerading
Summary: Rippen and Audry must beat Penn at this mission to become full-time villains. That’s how it works. However, they must do so by navigating the seller’s masquerade ball. How will they get through the dancing crowd undetected? Blending.
Word Count: 2348!!
The rest is under the cut because it’s kinda long:
A masquerade! How fun!
Audry contained the excitement well. After all, she was the part-time villain’s sidekick of this story, and villains were not typically so bubbly. But, how could she not be? She stood among flashy dresses, accessories, and smiles; she was among the rich and formal. It was worlds like these that made her job truly feel like a fairytale, rather than the sci-fi she still loved reading about.
A waiter appeared to Audry, short in stature, with a beaming smile. He held up a tray filled with glasses of red wine, offering one to her. “Drink, madame?” Larry’s voice arrived as Audry’s view of his face did, and she smiled down at him while she took one of the glasses. Almost immediately, it was snatched from her and lifted to her opposite side.
“I think not.” Accented, the voice alone made her aware of her boss’s presence. Audry rolled her eyes, picked her slumped-from-disappointment poster back up, and crossed her arms as she faced him. He really did have a way of timing.
Rippen, who poured her drink into a potted plant, was sharply dressed in a three-piece suit. It was a deep red, almost velvet, and had long coattails. His tie was tucked into his vest, but its gold color shone through. To finish the look, he wore a red and gold mask. “Might I remind you, Audry, that we are not here for the party, but rather…” He tried to remember a detail he hadn’t known, “Why are we here, Larry?” He asked, waving off the mistake as he looked to his minion.
At the sight of his suit, Audry was almost floored. She’d never seen him so well-dressed. Of course, he wore his normal teaching attire nearly every day, but this? This was another level. The young woman looked herself over, spotting her form in a mirror beside the lounge area they accommodated. Woah.
Audry’s dress was form fitting, with a mermaid-tail style of flourish at the end. It was red, matching Rippen’s suit, but hers was donned with sequins that made the whole dress sparkle as she twirled in the dim lighting. Audry’s mask matched Rippen’s perfectly, aside from the gem between the eyes. Her heels clicked on the floor, and her hair seemed to bounce as she moved. It was held up in a bun with a braided crown. I look like royalty. She thought to herself, smiling as the idea came up.
“Audry? Did you get that?” Rippen asked, waving a hand in front of her face. Audry’s eyes looked suddenly to his, and she shook her head. Rippen grunted in annoyance, “Larry, spectacle.” He shot a glare at Audry, “Again.” She simply stuck her tongue out at him.
“Rippen is a business tycoon.” Larry explained as a projection popped up from his orange glasses, “He and his assistant are here to buy the final nature reserve in the state so they can turn it into a fur-coat factory.” The two in question exchanged an understanding glance, but Larry was already moving on, “Our job is to stop Penn and his assistants from bidding higher on it before we can.” He removed his finger from the button and looked up to his teammates, “Easy peasy!” He added.
“Quite. All I have to do is beat Penn Zero to the bidding?” Rippen grinned, looking to Audry, “This mission is in the bag.” He grabbed two glasses of wine, and handed one to her, “Alright, one glass for good luck.”
Audry smirked, “Confident, are we?” She asked, jokingly. Her smirk became a smile, “You should be. You should always be.” Audry took a swig of the drink she’d been given - a much bigger swig than she really needed, but she didn’t drink often.
“I always am.” Rippen looked around, sipping his drink in his thought. “First, we locate the heroes, then we beat them to the seller.” He cackled, then set his glass down, and began walking. “Follow me, Audry.”
The young lady’s eyes went wide for a moment. He was determined, as usual. Audry tipped her glass as much as possible without spilling, swallowing what she could of the wine before she inevitably had to follow her leader into this mild-mannered battle.
The room was crowded, as one would expect from a fancy event. Audry found Rippen somewhere in the center, looking over the mass of people. His height was an advantage today, as he had spotted the redheaded boy without much haste. “This way!” He called to his sidekick, marching forward until…
A gentle piano melody, accompanied by gentle instrumentals began to settle the room, clearing a large space in the room. Laughing a bit confidently, Rippen pressed forward, only to be stopped as a pair of dancers partnered up, and shot him an annoyed stare from behind their masks. He looked beyond them, groaning at the sight of Penn and his team scurrying away to the sidelines. He turned back, grabbed Audry’s hand and weaved them both through an annoyed crowd, shoving past a few couples. Her quiet, embarrassed protests were lost on him. Alas, the Dream Team had already made it to the next side.
“Attempting to lure me into a game of chase, Zero? Not this time.” Rippen muttered to his nemesis as if the boy could hear. He watched with disdain, releasing Audry’s hand from his grip. Penn and his team began to speak of their plan, or something that, of course, the villains couldn’t hear.
“Can I get more wine, or do you have a plan?” Audry fixed her top and crossed her arms, not amused by this turn of events. She saw his expression as a sign that a plan was forming, but it helped to be snarky for her. Without an immediate answer, she huffed a frustrated sigh, and began to gulp down another glass of wine. A full one.
Before long, Sashi, Penn, and Boone had partnered off with people around the room for a dance. They looked around, before Penn grinned and seemed to lock onto a guest. Rippen narrowed his eyes, his focus shifting to where Penn had...No. It can’t be.
The man his nemesis had spotted was indeed the auctioneer from Larry’s projection. He was tall, lanky, and had a handlebar mustache to go with his old-timey top hat. Penn was planning to dance for this man’s attention!
Rippen quickly turned to his sidekick, who was still fixing her dress, and asked, “Do you know how to waltz or dance at all?” He asked.
Audry felt her heart jump. She stopped whatever her hands were doing and tried to understand his plan. She did quickly. “I know enough.” She assured, nodding. She grabbed his hand and took a breath. She kicked off her heels, and suddenly Audry was back to being shorter than he was. Dancing was always better without high heels. No matter what type. Rippen looked at her with such a confidence that it made Audry grin. “Let’s do this.” She whispered.
The floor was still crowded. Each and every couple that danced had such an energy about them that it almost made Audry nervous. She looked at every face she could. There was such joy, such pure contentment with their partners. Audry had never danced with Rippen, needless to say, so this was...new.
They found a spot with ample room for dancing and assumed a proper position. Their arms matched up, and both placed a hand on the other’s back. Audry had to admit, she was a bit awkward at the moment. Rippen was never one for physical contact. Even if it was accidental, or something small, he seemed off-put by it. As this thought graced her mind, Audry’s hand was grabbed and held out with her partner’s.
Rippen rolled his eyes. She was standing so far that there was about a foot of space between them. He sighed, “Audry, I’m not gonna bite.” He said, annoyed. Somewhat, he was amused by this. He enjoyed being feared, even slightly.
A red glow lit up the woman’s cheeks, and she stepped closer. Close enough to almost feel his breathing.
Rippen awkwardly cleared his throat, and gave her a final look, “Ready?” He asked, “We just need to get to the auctioneer.”
Audry nodded, and slowly they began to step into the rhythm.
It wasn’t only the music, it was Audry’s heartbeat that she felt she was keeping up with. She kept her eyes on her feet, a small fear rising up that she’d step upon his. Her dress’s flourish swept over his feet, and she was careful to keep it that way. Just her tail. She inhaled and began counting the beats under her breath.
One step, two step. One step, two step. One step, two step. One step, two step.
“Hey, hey!” Rippen whispered, “Eyes up, Audry. We must be on the lookout.” He sent her a fairly warning look. This wasn’t a fun dance, by any means, and it certainly wasn’t an excuse to ignore the mission. He watched her cherry red face find it’s way back to its tilt, and sighed, “Alright, we’re getting nowhere with this slow jaunt.” He told her, replacing his hands on her waist and back to holding her free one. Audry was surprised by this, but prepared accordingly, and placed her own hand onto his shoulder. Rippen spotted their target, “Ready? Let me lead.”
As the music picked up, Rippen led Audry into more of a fast dance. He spun her a few times, though his eyes never left the auctioneer. He glanced to Penn multiple times, nevertheless, and found his hatred welling into a growl. How I despise that boy. Taunting me with his never-ceasing smirk and smugness. His privileged life, his foolish friends…  If I had my chance I’d-- Rippen’s menacing stare melted into a bit of revelation as he heard his dance partner giggling. Pretty notably.
Audry’s grin had widened, and she was laughing as they danced around the room. Rippen raised his brow at this, quizzically watching her for an explanation. Her eyes were closed as she was finally stopped for the time being. She fell forward a bit, and her forehead found its way resting on his chest. Her laughter resonated against it, making Rippen’s chest hum as if he himself was the cause. Rippen immediately grabbed her shoulders and pulled her away, “Audry, what’s the meaning of this? We’re losing time!” He reminded his sidekick, his brow furrowing into anger.
“S-Sorry.” She chuckled, “I’m just…having fun?” She was unaware that this would be as amusing as it was, but once the spinning and fastness of it all settled in with the glasses of wine.
Despite her enjoyment of the time, Rippen was far from at the ease she was in. Again, his eyes locked onto Penn Zero, who was approaching their shared target, and offering a handshake. Rippen pushed Audry aside, and broke into a sprint.
“Nooo!” His drawn out, anguished cry of near defeat was accompanied by his falling to the floor at the feet of the auctioneer.
From behind a bushy mustache, he looked at Rippen as if he was a bug on the floor. “Good sir, I suggest that you remove yourself from my presence. I am about to make a very important deal with this lovely gentleman!” He shook Penn’s hand. Immediately, Rippen breathed a sigh of defeat. Penn laughed aloud, putting on a phoney British accent to speak with, “Sorry, gov’na! Looks like we’ve beaten you once againe!” He laughed again as he was escorted to the meeting of businessmen behind closed doors.
Sulking, Rippen brought himself back to Audry, and was faced with the woman sipping her third glass of wine. She seemed a bit out of sorts as he approached, grabbing his own second glass.
“We lost?” Audry asked.
“Yep.” Rip said through a breath, downing a large gulp of his drink. Screw formality.
“Bummer.” Audry set down her glass and raised the bottom of her dress by pulling from the top of her skit, “Well, I lost my shoes. So, I lost worse than you did.” As Rippen chuckled at the statement, she began to grin, “Wanna go dance some more? You aren’t half bad of a partner.”
Rippen took a look into her eyes. Yep. Tipsy. He could tell from the utter relaxation he could see in them. “How many of these have you had?” He asked, gesturing to his drink.
Audry shrugged, “I think this is my third? Or...second and a half.”
Rippen placed his thumb and forefinger on the bridge of his nose, Damn it, Audry. He would have muttered it had it not had the potential to offend her. “Alright.” He huffed, taking a final sip of his wine as he set it down, and walked with her to the dance floor.
He took her hand and placed his as he did before. She followed his lead, and soon they were dancing to a tango-like rhythm disguised in the instrumentals of a waltz. Rippen smugly kept his eyes locked on her expressions. So much joy was in her very demeanor, and it reflected well in her smile. He couldn’t help but crack a smirk.
It was when he dipped her back that suddenly, they were surrounded in the familiar red light of the MUT’s zapping ability, and placed onto a metallic base with Larry. Where he had been, neither of them knew. Rippen looked to Phil, who stared at their positioning, before rolling his eyes.
“If you are going to be romantic, take it out of store.” Phil called, shutting the lights off.
Rippen’s expression twisted, and he suddenly looked much more offended, “What?!” He dropped Audry where he stood and moved off the platform, leaving Larry to help her up. He grabbed his keys from the counter, and walked for the door. Audry was a laughing mess, so he knew there were no hard feelings. Not that I care.
He looked up as he crossed to the driver’s side to wait for Audry. It was night time due to the lateness of their mission, and he saw the constellations above him. Thinking nothing of his expression, he smiled softly.
If only I had won...tonight would have been perfect for dancing.

Rosehip tea and Hibiscus tea?
Tea asks ‘cuz I’m sipping my peach tea on the porch
. Rosehip tea: Which book did you love when you were younger? The Harry Potter series. I used to play a game called Plant Tycoon so while I was waiting for the 45 minutes for my plants to fully grow, I would read Harry Potter. My favorite book from the series was Goblet of Fire. I loved that book. All the action, all the different characters and school cultures mixing together, how Voldemort felt like a real threat, and the maturity of the characters in that book was something I enjoyed so much that I read that book until pages started falling out from the binding. Huge sections got separated from the spine, but I kept reading it.
A simulation game about growing plants cultivated my love for reading and ((old school Pokemon)) + I have a special connection with that book. It was the first one I read from the series. I didn’t read 1, 2 or 3 first. Nope, I skipped all the way to the 4th! XD
Hibiscus tea: What is a song you can always hear? Silence. Silence is the best music, peep
