The Evermore Grimoire: Merpeople

King Triton is the ruler of Atlantica, an undersea kingdom inhabited by merpeople. As king, he wields the all-powerful trident, which grants him control over the seas. By his late wife Queen Athena, he is also a widowed father to seven daughters, the most notable of which is Ariel. His archenemy was Ursula, an old sea witch who was once a senior member of the ‘Court of King Triton.’ For many years, she had been seeking a way to exact her revenge upon him for banishing her from the kingdom. Equal parts over-protective and well-meaning, Triton initially disapproves of Ariel's admiration for the human world on account of his misanthropy. However upon noticing how much Ariel loves Prince Eric (who also destroyed Ursula and subsequently not only saved Ariel's life but also the entire kingdom of Atlantica) he realises he has to let her go. Using the trident, King Triton transform Ariel into a human once again, allowing her to be with the love of her life, Eric.
