Part 2 of guilty conscience!

As his voice filled the room through the phone “Jackie”. She tried to speak but couldn’t, it came out more like a sigh than words. “New York, Why did you leave? What’s going on?”. He said in hushed tones, almost sympathetically.

The thought of that night came flooding into her memory, his large hands roaming her small petite body. His kisses trailing down her neck as she’s pressed so tightly to the beam behind her. And suddenly she snaps back into reality.

“I’m sorry, I had to leave…. I got the internship I found out this morning and after everything that happened last night I thought this was the easier option”. She said as her voice breaks. Tears stain her eyes.

Cole sighs “why didn’t you say goodbye? Or wake anyone up to let us know you were going? We need to talk properly about what happened, I want to see you please!”. She looks around the room making sure that Danny or her uncle aren’t within listening distance.

“As much as I want that, I don’t think it’s a good idea. I mean it shouldn’t have happened, I’m with Alex and you… well I have no idea half the time who you are dating”. He knew she didn’t believe what she just said. His tone grew stronger “that’s a lie, look I know that you were with Alex but you can’t deny that there is something between me and you, there always has been. I don’t wanna hurt my brother but I can’t get you out of my head, I think I’m in lo”.

Before he can finish She hangs up… Cole throws his phone across the room, it lands somewhere in the distance. “Why?!” He shouts. Katherine enters his room after hearing a thud. “Hey you ok?”. She asks looking at him with that caring motherly look she does so well. “I’m fine mom”. He replies. “You know I pick up on a lot of things, as your mom it’s my job too, you and Jackie I saw it coming”.

Cole looks at his mom with his mouth parted wondering how much does she know. “What are you talking about, there is no me and Jackie mom”. Katherine sits on Danny’s bed that was freshly made before his departure this morning. “You know, I’ve never seen that look on you before, every time you were around her, your eyes lit up, I have seen you grow, your wounds close up and you have become a hell of a young man”.

Kathrine leaves the room and cole decides this is it. If she won’t come home. Then he’s coming to her.
