Bugsnax in Ancient Stone Grumpus Society

In the early years of Tooth Island grumpus civilization, Bugsnax have always been a major part of their lives. They serve as their main source of food, their transformations can be used as tools and even fashion statements, forms of currencies (trading hard-to-get/rare/so-called "special" Snax for different goods and services is very common in Stone Grump society), and are generally just fascinating creatures to observe and learn about. While the overall view of Bugsnax varies from grumpus to grumpus, it’s very common for most to see them as higher beings deserving of praise and worship. Even though grumpuses had been living alongside the Snax for so long, there’s not much knowledge on what they actually are.

Grumpuses had survived on the islands centuries before the actual “beginning” of their civilizations. However, it's generally accepted that the first true inhabitants of the island were, in fact, the Bugsnax. No grumpus had traveled far enough to find any other Snak-inhabited lands, so it’s also assumed that Bugsnax and the Tooth Islands are inherently connected somehow. So that only encourages the grumpuses to respect the Bugsnax more.

A form of showing that respect is through the Bugsnak Ceremonies.

Ceremonies and Sacrifices

Once a month, it's a common practice for Stone Grumpus territories to hold day-long events celebrating life and Bugsnax. The communities of Falls Valley holding their ceremonies on Broken Tooth. The communities of The Coast may also choose to go to Broken Tooth, but there’s also an underground cavern (built by Broken Tooth grumpuses) near the area that also is used for ceremonies. In The Peak communities it’s celebrated in one of their large cave systems. And lastly, The Desert’s ceremonies are held in the Vast Desert, near the Grand Pyramid. Though there’s been a “pause” to The Desert’s ceremonies for several years for an unexplainable reason…

Events that take place within the ceremonies vary from territory to territory, but they must end in the sacrifice of a randomly chosen grumpus. The sacrifices serve as a “Thank you” to the Bugsnax for allowing these grumpus communities to survive and thrive off of them for so many years. It’s believed that once a grumpus has been sacrificed, their bodies will break apart into Bugsnax. Their minds, thoughts, beliefs, wisdom, all finding new life in Bugsnax. The body of that grumpus may be gone, but they’ll find new life in the Bugsnax. And if any of the Snax gets caught and eaten by another grumpus, then they’ll gain that previous knowledge, allowing that sacrificed grump to still live on.

At least, that’s how it’s described in ancient legends. It’s said to help make chosen grumpuses feel less nervous, because being sacrificed isn’t their end, but a way to give them new life.

If a grumpus has passed away and their body; either whole and parts of them, is still accessible, it’s recommended to wait until the next Bugsnak Ceremony and bring their body to be sacrificed to the Bugsnax. If a grump is feeling brave enough, they could go to the ceremony place themselves to sacrifice the body outside of ceremony time. The area is very dangerous for a solo grump; as it’s a common place where someone may go missing. It's recommended to bring a friend or one of their leader’s subordinates to accompany them, and also to go during the daylight, as most grumpuses are active at that time in case they’re in need of help.

Going missing

An unexplainable phenomenon that causes grumpuses to disappear. There’s no set conditions that’ll lead to the disappearance of a grumpus. Any grumpus of any status may seem fine one day, then gone the next.

In the earlier years of Stone Grumpus civilization, a grumpus who had gone missing was seen as a more urgent matter to look into. But there were no cases of a grumpus going missing ever being found. So in later years, it’s been accepted as an unpredictable, random, and tragic occurrence.

The best choice is to simply move on.

On the topic of Raphael and him "being bad in bed".

Okay I'm only ever going to talk about this at length once and then never again. I've been avoiding talking about it until now because bringing it up always just seems to keep this topic in circles and it becomes an endless pit of nothing.

First of all, I know most of the time (like maybe 70% of the time) it's for the lolz. I get it. Hell, Raphael fans will be the FIRST to quip about this.

BUT

For those taking it seriously one way or another... It becomes such old hat VERY fast.

Those who use it as a jab towards Raphael havers are... Kinda dumb. Because it's like... Okay, and? You act as if somehow negates the entirety of his character somehow just because "HAR HAR HANDSOME DEVIL MAN IS BAD AT SEX" and it's so... vapid and boring? Also it seems a lot of people keep thinking "bad at sex" = JUST that he finishes too fast and nothing else but they seem to forget that the player character came up with that insult on the spot (rather than seeing it as a commentary about his pure selfishness and where it stems from). Haarlep is also a bias source. There's a semblance of resentment from them AND they're a damn incubus. EVERYONE'S terrible in bed in comparison (have you seen Tav? Little shit just lays there like a sack of potatoes during the Haarlep scene). This isn't me saying "Oh it means Raphael is terrific in bed because Haarlep's word cannot be trusted". HELL, no. Quite the opposite, actually. I'm saying "okay... What can I glean from that set of information?"

I feel like this goes for Raphael havers too who have this conversation. I feel like many tend to fall into this trap of odd desparity when they realise that "oh no our magnificent hot man is bad at sex" and somehow treat it as if it's forever a caveat and somehow negates the ENTIRETY of Raphael as a complex character. My first reaction when I got this information during House of Hope was laughing and then going "mmm that's so interesting and adds such a great layer to this already amazing character. Where else can I take this to". In fact, House of Hope as a quest does SO much in adding all these tidbits that make Raphael not just another boring, all knowing, god like, ineffible character. It made me love and appreciate his character even MORE. instead of going in circles and lamenting in how this is somehow "the worst thing ever", I think it's way more fun to explore it and delve into where the root of his narcissism and self esteem issues come from. The dichotomy and complexes of his character. There's SO much to talk about there and yet we're still just stuck on "haha devil man is a bottom and bad in bed" (which is another ridiculous thing btw because people seem to misconstrue bottoms as JUST being submissive. Y'all need to be more open minded 😂).

Apologies if this came off as ranty/condescending maybe. But it's coming from someone who's just minding her own business but have to see a variation of that line CONSTANTLY in the notes/tags on my art/gif posts and as I said... It gets so old REALLY fast. Like please be more imaginative than this, I beg of you. 😭

WELCOME BACK TO! THE CRACKKIDS OF HOLLOWNEST!

Back in 2020 me and a few friends had a web of rp blogs that told a story, and the journey we took with it was exstremely fun for all of us but because of multiple factors, we had to stop. Now 4 years later we are BACK baby! AND YES WE'RE FINISHING THE DARK AU WE ONLY GOT HALFWAY THROUGH!!!

But! After there will be other stories perhaps, other tales. A lot of fun times :) These are ask blogs that will be able to rp, but primarily with eachother. If you want to rp with one of the blogs please note that your character is not cannon and does not effect the ending of the story, but our guys like friends :) they will primarily be ask blogs, though, so send asks!!!

But what's the premise of these blogs? Well there is a being born of root and void- but no wyrm, who found an ancient entity deep within the void, and she wants to consume everything in the world. Her half sibling, Wisp, very much does not want her to do that and will be at constant odds. This is primarily an oc story but canon characters do appear.

This is a story that must have caution to interact with as it features darker and more mature content, read this post carefully and interact with the story with caution if you think you won't be able to handle it

PHOBIA: He/him, a little guy who is not what he seems... A child of beast and void [Herrah and void]. He adores his younger sister Even and actively aids her in her quest to destroy the gods and consume the world, he's smaller then most but trust me, do not trust that little face. REM: They/them, this is reality themself, watching the world go by and keeping it in tact, they are the child of mother life and father death. They're always watching every scene with their endless eyes.. Most of which, tend to focus on a particular violet flame. i’ve talked about the littlest pet shop stop at least a billion times already, but they really are a great place to shop for lps :o) they’ve been my go-to store for at least a year now. they ship very quickly and are always responsive when help is needed. do give them a try if you haven’t already

littlest kinz is another go-to of mine, though she’s taking a mental health break(?) last time i checked, and so her website isn’t useable at the moment. but she said a while ago she’ll be returning soon, so when she does i do encourage you to shop with her. she’s absolutely lovely, easy to talk to, and 100% trustworthy/reliable !!

lpsqueen is another !! i get most of my accessories and replacement pieces from them, and i haven’t had a bad experience yet (really i haven’t had any bad experiences with any of the folks i’ve mentioned!!) - i don’t have much else to say, but i do recommend them !!

i’ve only just started shopping with littlest brainrot, so i don’t have a lot to say. i’ve only done with order with them, but it came without any hiccups and i was very pleased !!

Also they havent even started writing yet while I think Devil's Hour is already about to start filming? So that shouldn't make any difference really, the article is just making incorrect assumptions

I am in NO WAY versed on how these things work so just know this is based off of absolutely nothing but my own conjecture and I could be way off base...

The part that concerns me is that the article was *amended* to include the line about Phil, whereas the original article did not mention him specifically at all. Also, the paragraph about starting to reach out to the remainder of the cast comes after that line in the article, implying Phil is one of the ones already accounted for.

I would assume Deadline reached out to members of the original cast and is adding in details to the article if/when they hear back, and therefore that it was Phil's team who conveyed he had not been picked up for the 4th season.

There is also the "many would likely pop in for guest appearances" line implying several og cast members aren't going to be regulars... I'm going to be frank and say the article doesn't make me feel confident at all in Phil returning as a regular but that there's still hope he could guest star. and i don't feel very positive about a s4 at all if phil isn't a regular 😭

Since finally moving to tumblr, i've found that twitter as a platform is so so so exhausting, especially the art community on there. I scrolled through it for like a second and immediately closed it because some of the takes i've been seeing on whether or not all art is political/has meaning made me want to rip my skin off. There is constant discourse around the most stupid or obvious things and the same shit gets brought up over and over again.

And don't even get me started on the way half the ppl there treat contemporary art ohhhh ny god some of that shit has me tweaking tf out

Like obviously if it doesn't resonate with you that's fine, a lot of contemporary art doesn't resonate with me either and it isn't really my favourite type of art most of the time, but some people just dismiss it entirely and go so far as to say it isn't even art all because it doesn't conform to their standards of art or the meaning is too obscure for them to figure it out (even though it's usually incredibly easy to find on the internet lmao)

Someone’s gotta do a critical study of those TikTok-type point of view videos of, you know, getting bullied by a cool girl when you were in sixth grade, or having your mother-in-law be rude to you, or getting the brush-off after paying a visit your divorced dad wasn’t expecting (not a hypothetical, had this just inexplicably pop up on my YouTube Recommended), I think they started out as observational comedy skits with the occasional cathartic edge and resonated because so many people relate to them, but at what point are they an exercise in deliberately putting yourself in a bad mood (as opposed to accidentally putting yourself in a bad mood, which is the typical practice of social media)? And at what point beyond that are they just training videos teaching you how to hate more types of people and bundle loaded assumptions about them into your interactions, should you encounter them in real life? Because we’re well past that point, baby!
