Bracket(??) Announcement!
I have FINALLY (which I am very sorry for guys) finished going through my submissions and have created something that looks like a bracket. BUT, in order to include the most characters, I have devised a group round with 128 characters divided into 8 groups and have sorted them in a way that prevents this competition from becoming a batman vs spider-man final.
making the polls shouldn't take nearly as long so be on the lookout for those! this will be pinned and I'll make sure to edit this post with links to the polls, and matchups are not necessarily going to be heroes next to each other! matches can be made up by any two heroes in the same group
polls will last a day for now and one group will be posted per day
as of right now top 4 from each group will make it to the bracket round but that is absolutely subject to change so don't count on that
Without further ado, your Superhero Smackdown competitors!!!

Tf2 and 10th classes
The first 10th class we know of is the Civilian from Team Fortress Classic. He was in the VIP maps and was only equipped with an umbrella and had lower health than the other characters. The goal of the VIP maps was for bodyguards to protect the Civilian from assassins so he could get to an evacuation point.
Tumblr media
The Civilian is not in Team Fortress 2 as a class, as it was never finished. The code was still in the game for some time but the player model was just an unanimated Scout with only 50 health, similar to the original Civilian.
The Team Fortress Classic Civilian does appear as a small cameo in Team Fortress 2 as the bobblehead seen in Sniper's van in "Meet the Sniper".
Tumblr media
Next is the Guard dog, a fan made 10th class. Despite being fanmade, Valve has recognized it before by posting a letter from Saxton Hale evaluating the class and saying he looked forward to working with them in the future. But besides this, this has been the only time Valve has acknowledged this class.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In a Team Fortress 2 blog post from 2010, it was joking about a 10th class being rejected for not having any hats
Tumblr media
In the Halloween Team Fortress 2 map known as Harvest Event, there is a gravestone with the text "RIP the tenth class"
Tumblr media
In an interview with Robin Walker, a Team Fortress developer, he joked that Gordon Freeman from Half-Life could be a 10th class.
Tumblr media
Robin has also said in past interviews that a 10th class is something Valve would like to add but at the time they were mainly focusing on game modes. In another interview he said that a new class would and up being too similar to existing ones. (I'm having to take this from the wiki as the interview pages do not exist anymore.)
Tumblr media
And for now that's all I have! If I missed any information, feel free comment about it and I'll add it on!

An Unusual Team, Chapter Fifteen
Ao3 link here
"Now that's what I call making an entrance!"
Though he did give a cocky grin at the praise, if he was honest with himself, Alan had to admit that he did feel a little conflicted about blasting a hole in the side of what was obviously an ancient temple that was hundreds, if not a thousand years old. Penny’s voice was currently very loud in the back of his head, talking about World Heritage stuff, preservation of history, artefacts and their stewardship and proper archaeological technique.
On the other hand, this whole place gave him the same skin-crawling feeling that he’d gotten when he went on school trips to different historical battle grounds. Though the ground was flat, the night somehow seemed darker in the grassy clearing around the temple than it did under the cover of the trees that right now hid his family and the Spectrum officers.
“People have died here,” he realised, “lots of them, violently, to the point the earth itself cries out against it.” “Thanks,” was all that he said to Ochre, but a look at John told him that his brother didn’t feel good about this place either. Coming back later and levelling it completely was a very tempting idea and one they’d talk about after the current crisis was over.
“Meds.” Blue was speaking to Rhapsody, Ochre and Magenta, obviously reminding them of something as he pulled a little case from his vest pocket.
“What’s that?” Virgil asked curiously as all four of them took two pills from their cases and dry-swallowed them.
“A little something our CMO cooked up,” Ochre explained, making a face at the taste of the pills. “It’s a short acting protection in case we get exposed to silver or Mags gets exposed to iron, and it reduces the impact if we get shot or stabbed with it.” He grinned at the visible interest from the others. “Our Doc knows his stuff.”
“Okay, we’ve got an entrance, let’s go,” Scott jumped in before the conversation could get sidetracked. “John, get the automatic mapping up, everyone, destroy any runes or wards as you go, stay in contact and be alert. He knows we’re here and who knows what he’s got in there. Let’s do this.”
The plan had been worked out back on the Island. John and EOS had done their electronic wizardry and gotten them a satellite view of the big, rectangular building that The Hood was using as his lair. Because of its size, they’d decided on three teams to search the place- the Kyranos and Gordon were one, Ochre, Virgil, John, Grey and Magenta made up the second, while Scott, Alan, Blue and Rhapsody were the third. If there was a jamming bubble up, the combination of telepathy and familial links would allow at least some communication between the groups, and the combinations of different training and abilities would hopefully let them overcome any protections and traps that had been placed.
Speaking of protections, that had been something that had them scratching their heads for a time. The Hood had been smart enough to set up measures that either prevented the fae from parting the fabric of the world or made it extremely dicey to do so while bringing someone else, and all the doors within several kilometres had been warded against waywalking. There was also the problem of fae not doing well in the place between places. Flying out there was a last option. While it’d be tight, they’d all fit in Thunderbird One, but the hybrid aircraft wasn’t exactly stealthy, nor were Spectrum’s helicopters.
They’d been stymied until Gordon had hit upon a brilliant, out of the box idea: all the existing doors had been warded, but what if they brought their own?
Virgil had cut the closet door and frame out of one of the guest bedrooms, added a couple of bracing struts and John and Alan took it into the jungles of Malaysia, translocating as close as they could get to the temple. Once they set it up, Kyrano was able to open the door and allow them all through. They'd trekked to the edge of the clearing that surrounded the temple and when there wasn’t an obvious door or window for them to use to gain entry, Alan had proceeded to gather his power and made one for them.
For their part, the Spectrum people had mixed feelings about having iR with them. No one doubted that they were skilled, they'd brought their own weapons and had sensibly put kevlar vests over their uniforms, but they were an unknown quantity.
That the Tracys had weapons wasn't a surprise - growing up on a farm in Kansas and later living on an island, it made sense - it was the range of weapons. Kayo had a set of knives specially made for her half and half form, Virgil and Gordon hefted Mossburg pump action shotguns, Jeff had given Scott a SIG Sauer P226 pistol, while Alan had a 9mm Glock. There'd been more than a couple of raised eyebrows when John had come down from his room with an FN P-90 slung across his back. Alan had quipped 'he likes vintage sci-fi' in response, but that hadn't really clarified anything for the captains and they chose not to ask.
One thing that the five Spectrum people had agreed on though, was that the sight of armour and gun belts on iR operatives was not right to the point of being jarring. Their business was saving lives, and that they needed to have such resources at hand was deeply wrong.
John brought up a hologram on his wrist controller and danced his fingers through it before shutting it down. "Automatic mapping is active," he told his siblings, "so if you get in trouble, we can find you."
"And be careful," that was Gordon, "watch where you're going and what you’re standing on, remember the tomb of the Laughing King?"
That got some solemn nods from the Tracys and Kayo and a murmured 'explain later' from Virgil to the Spectrum officers.
“Rhapsody, have you got enough light to scout ahead?” Blue asked the Angel.
“F.A.B.” She holstered her gun and flicked into the shape of a peregrine falcon. The small raptor was in the air seconds later, vanishing into the gaping maw of the hole. She reappeared a minute later, landing delicately before shifting back. “I couldn’t see anyone, but it’s clear for twenty metres each way. There’s stairs going up and down on the left side and on the right more hallways and a large chamber.”
"Okay, my team’s going left and down, Kyrano, your team goes right, Virgil, yours goes left and up. Let’s go." Scott ordered, pistol in hand as he turned towards the temple, the rest of the group splitting into their teams and slipping through the shadows after him. The grass was up to their hips,
“Why am I getting seriously strong ‘don’t go into the rye grass’ vibes from all this?” Alan muttered as he formed up with Blue, Scott and Rhapsody. “And those statues in the walls...it feels like they’re actually watching us.”
“I know what you mean,” Rhapsody had her pistol in hand again, slowly scanning the ornate roof of the temple. “It’s too quiet and too empty. Have you noticed? There’s no crickets, no moths, no mosquitos or bats.”
“Yeah,” Blue nodded, shivering slightly despite the warm night air. “This place is dead.”
“So glad I’m not the only one who noticed that,” Magenta had his teeth gritted. “Sooner we’re out, the better.”
Nothing happened as they cautiously made their way over the rubble and slipped inside, and that only increased their tension.
Something on the wall caught Virgil’s eye and the were-wolf beckoned to the others. “Kyrano, John,” Virgil called to the two men, nodding to a section of wall faintly illuminated by a smoking oil lamp in a niche. A tap and the lights on his helmet powered up to reveal a large section of the wall was covered in carved words. “Can you read this?” He pointed to a string of words, some of the incisions crusted with a dirty white powder. “It looks like someone’s dusted them with talc or chalk.”
Kyrano touched one of the deposits, then rubbed it between his fingers and sniffed. “Yes, they have. I believe archeologists will occasionally do it to highlight details in carvings just like this.”
“It almost looks like hieratic writing…” John peered at one section, then moved on to the next. “And this is similar to the Oracle Bone script. I can take a scan and have EOS run them through the database of ancient languages.” He lifted his left arm to begin the process, only for Kyrano to touch his wrist and gently but firmly place his arm back at his side.
“Do not read them, John.” The command was absolute and not to be questioned. “Once you know these things, you cannot un-know them.” He waved a hand at the carvings. “I was taught enough to recognise these words. This is how my brother learned how to be an enchanter without a master’s guidance. If I may,” Kryano drew himself up, solemn-faced. “John and Alan, I would count it as a great favour if you would destroy this temple. The things recorded here… the things done here…” his expression became even more grim. “The world will be all the better for this knowledge being lost.”
“If you need big explosives, we’ve got connections,” Grey spoke up, his comrades nodding their agreement.
“We might take you up on that.” John glanced at the carvings, eyes narrowed, then shook his head and turned back to his team. “Come on, let’s go.”
They split up, each group taking their designated direction through the ornately carved hallways and sensibly marking their paths with small, unobtrusive scratches as they went. While iR did have their automatic mapping, the Spectrum officers didn’t, and backups were always a good idea.
At the mouth of the staircase they started to find runes as well, painted or inked, and quickly defaced them with scratches or scrapes, or just spitting on them and smearing the carefully drawn lines.
By Scott’s estimate, they’d followed the staircase at least twenty feet into the ground before their path finally levelled out into another hallway. This one was bare, the walls flat and featureless but for heavy wooden doors set at irregular intervals, with equally irregular oil lamps hanging from wall brackets for light. There was a breeze from somewhere, carrying with it the smell of water and wet rock. It made the lamps flicker and the shadows dance like living things.
Rhapsody checked one of the lamps. “Looks like someone’s been in here recently,” she observed, “it’s almost full.”
“Hey, you hear that?” Alan asked, his voice almost a whisper and head cocked as he listened intently.
Captain Blue automatically moved to the head of the group, sidearm raised and giving a warning look to Scott when the elder Tracy tried to join him, one that not even Scott was willing to cross.
Shhhff shhff shhhff
A clay-coloured figure appeared out of the gloom some forty yards ahead of them, a faceless humanoid shape carrying a glittering scimitar in one hand and a polished bronze shield in the other.
Blue didn’t give it even half a chance, immediately shooting the ushabti in the head as soon as it raised the sword. It crumbled into rubble, the sword and shield clattering to the stone floor with a steely ring. He touched his ‘cap and made a quick update of “Blue to all points, just made contact with one of Gaat’s clay people. Be alert," then turned to the others. “That had to have been a guard, let’s start checking the doors down here.”
“F.A.B.” Scott nodded, now understanding why Blue had taken the lead. Even though it was within his pistol’s range, he’d never have been able to make that shot! Not with the uncertain light from the flickering lamps, the reflections off the shield and the small target. “Alan, let’s try this one,” he indicated the closest door.

“I hate this, I absolutely hate this!”
His latest attempt at yanking the chain out of the eyebolt ending the same way as the first, Scarlet let go of the heavy links with a curse and sat down, unwrapping the rags from around his hands.
He was once again alone in the room, with only the runes and lanterns for company.
A grey-faced Tuathal had fled in a panic, which made some sense - if he had angry Tracys after him (again) he’d pick that option too, and the protections and smoke made it risky for Tuathal to stay here - but staying in a fortifiable position and having a hostage to hide behind also made sense.
That initial explosion had been followed by a long period of nothing; a heavy, eerie ‘silence  because of absence’ that had him winding himself up until he realised what was happening and forced himself to let go of that tension. If he burned what little energy he had left on anxiety and stressing himself, he’d be worse than useless once something happened and his situation changed. “All I can do is be ready for when that change happens.” Scarlet told himself, picking up one of the rags and twisting it into a short rope to give himself something to fiddle with and burn some of his frustration at being so helpless.
He’d worried the rag into shreds and tatters and made a good start on the second when a distant, muffled bang had his head snapping up and he looked to the door, hope rising. He knew the sound of a Spectrum pistol anywhere. They were coming to get him.
There was a rattle as someone tried the door, a thud as they tried to force it open, then the door quite simply ceased to exist, exploding into a cloud of sawdust.
“You have no idea how glad I am to see you!” Scarlet exclaimed as Blue and Rhapsody appeared at the doorway, guns in hand as they swept the room and cleared the corners. Alan and Scott followed on their heels. “Be careful,” he warned them, “there’s runes on the walls and Gaat said he’s been burning wormwood and valerian.”
“F.A.B.” Scott acknowledged, then looked at his brother. “Helmet stays on, Alan. Take care of those runes, I’ve got the cage.”
For reasons that escaped him, the youngest Tracy brother rolled his eyes at the eldest and went to work burning the runes off the walls with short bursts of energy from his hands.
At the same time, Scott approached the cage and gave both it and the manacle on his ankle a once over. “What’s your status?” he asked, crouching to study the lock on the cage door, then grabbed the bars and gave it a good shake.
“I think I’m reasonably mobile, and I’m starving, but no new injuries,” Scarlet reported. “Scott, there’s a fae here: Tuathal.”
Scott stopped and Alan froze, turning to look at him. “Tuathal? Are you sure?” The anger in Scott’s voice was controlled, but very much present.
“Very.” Scarlet was grim-faced as he spoke. “Gaat went to some lengths to describe what he’d done to John to illustrate what he could and would do to me. It’s how he found out about the infirmary and about Hope - he paid Tuathal for the information that he’d stolen from John and Alan whilst ‘dream-speaking’ with them.”
“Scott, do we tell Gordon?” Alan asked his brother. “You know what he said he’d do.”
The elder Tracy frowned, obviously weighing up something, then nodded. “Tuathal broke the conditions of the wergeld. Gordon has the right, but he won’t exercise it unless it’s safe to.”
“F.A.B.” Alan nodded to him and went back to ruining the runes.
“Okay, I think it’ll be easiest to just cut the end of the cage off,” Scott announced as he stood. “I’ll cut the chain off as close as I can, but that manacle’s going to have to stay until we get you back to base, my laser isn’t made for precision work.”
“S.I.G.” Scarlet acknowledged, moving to the far end of the cage to give Scott plenty of room to work.
While Rhapsody kept watch at the door, two slices of the laser cutter attachment on Scott’s grapple gun got the end of the cage off and it was hauled out of the way with Blue’s help. As soon as the metal had cooled somewhat, Scarlet crawled out, dragging the heavy chain along with him. One more slice got all but one link of the chain off and it was with some relief that Paul got to his feet with Adam’s help. Getting out of the close confines of the cage and standing up straight  was more of a relief than he’d thought it would be.
“You okay, buddy?” Adam asked quietly, his worry clear.
“I will be,” Paul murmured back to him, leaning heavily on his friend as various aches and pains reminded him that they were still there - retrometabolisim was a literal life saver for him, but it could only heal what it had the resources to do so, and with his limited energy, minor injuries had to wait. Paul resolved that as soon as he escaped Fawn’s clutches, there’d be a long session with Pastor Juniper in his near future and he had an idea about just straight up moving into the Promenade deck for a day or two, but that would have to wait until they got out of here.
“Scarlet,” that was Scott, stepping close to keep the conversation private. Worry was drawing his mouth into a thin line, almost to the point of pushing the dimples out of his cheeks. “I have to ask - did Tuathal touch your mind at all?”
“He tried to.” Scarlet couldn’t suppress the shudder at the memory. “But he didn’t get very far.”
“I don’t know if you have any full blooded fae on Cloudbase, aside from Colonel White, but if you want it, John can check and make sure that Tuathal didn’t do any damage.”
The mention of the Colonel had him looking at Blue with raised eyebrows and got a muttered ‘explain later’ in reply, then he looked back to Scott. “I’ll let you know. I’d vastly prefer to get out of here first, and hopefully put an end to those bastards along the way.”
Scott’s answering expression was full of understanding, but of the ‘yes and I’ll help’ type. “F.A.B. Let’s go.”

Ranking Black Clover OPs
This is a personal ranking. All of them are actually solid OPs and I think Black Clover consistently makes good ones.
Max of ten videos to a post so the bottom ones link to the OP.
13. Stories by Snow Man (OP 11)
Not bad but it doesn’t do too much. A little basic. Kinda checks all the normal boxes.
The shot of the map is cool
You flash through a bunch of characters.
Group Black Bulls shot.
I thought they were showing flashbacks but there are episodes that revisit Kahono and Kiato, Zora’s backstory, and the Queen of Witches which is nice.
Awww Loropechika :(
Some magic and fighting shots
Yeah, it’s not outstanding
12. Eien ni Hikare (Everlasting Shine) by TOMORROW X TOGETHER (OP 12)
Starts off with some cool shots of squad members against shots of their captains (expect Yami ofc because you couldn’t fit all his kids)
Yuno finding himself surrounded by his friends in the Golden Dawn is really sweet.
Some magic fighting with the captains this time which is super cool
Asta and Yuno growing up as they run together is sweet too.
Not much that I found interesting but it looks nice
11. Gamushara by Miyuna (OP 5)
Solid but doesn’t stand out too much.
The song has grown on me from when I first watched the arc.
I was intrigued that in the opening shots of the Black Bulls, Vanessa and Finral are in different shots when they’re shown together a lot of the time. I think that’s because this point in the story is when their individual stories start getting focused.
Back to the illustrations in the grimoire which is cool.
Vanessa seeing Rouge for the first time is so touching as she realizes the power she holds.
Ending shot of the squad is always good.
Definitely more of a static OP
10. Grandeur by Snow Man (OP 13)
I love the song for this one.
The surprise watching it for the first time is that you find out Asta becomes even more buff.
And then he goes sword surfing.
Good action
Amping up the threat of the Dark Triad well
The hints at Nacht and Liebe are nice
Actually doesn’t show too many characters. The Black Bulls (as a squad) aren’t really there.
youtube
9. sky & blue by GIRLFRIEND (OP 8)
I thought this song was not appropriate for this point in the series the first time I watched it. Like, the elves are wreaking havoc and we’re having this nice little calm tune. It is a good song though.
Good action in this one.
Lots of elf trauma.
I didn’t notice the brief shots of Leo and Luck until I rewatched it to make this list, but they’re appreciated for their moments during this arc.
Lots of Asta and Yuno focus.
I feel like I don’t have much to say about it.
youtube
8. JUSTadICE by Seiko Oomori (OP 7)
I like the symbols of the squads in time to the song
Great group shot of the Black Bulls
I wasn’t sure why Grey and Gordon were both screaming but once you know, it’s great.
Mimosa in the spotlight because she’s important this arc being on a team with Asta.
Cool Zora shot.
Elf trauma.
Yami being super sus about William and William also gets this creepy shot where black hands grab him.
HENRY REVEAL
Everyone coming towards Mereoleona at the end to form the Royal Knights is nice.
Screaming Black Clover at the end is such a moment
youtube
7. rakugaki paige by Kankaku Piero (OP 6)
Lower down in terms of song for me but the visuals are damn good.
Love some of the transitions in this one.
The opening shots of different wizards in environments similar to their magic type is cool. Then, they all fade to black which is where Asta appears. Very nice.
Interesting that Asta and Yuno are reaching out to each other instead of their normal fist bump.
Lots of action in this OP and it’s great.
The transition from Finral and Langris in red to Noelle and Solid in blue is satisfying. The parallel of sibling issues.
Zora seeing his father is a good transition too.
That shot of Langris angry is scary but it transitions to Finral opening his eyes to see his friends protecting him :’)
youtube
6. Paint It Black by BiSH (OP 2)
This OP changed as the arc went on. I was skipping it on some episodes and when I decided to see it again, I had to take a step back. Then, I watched it almost every time.
I was excited for this arc because Luck was getting attention and the OP reflects this but at the split shot of him half crazy and half as we normally see him made me think “That’s concerning”
I like the red, blue and black throughout it. Very reminiscent of the rustiness of Asta’s sword too.
Watching the arc, I liked trying to identify everyone’s grimoires as they flew past at the beginning.
youtube
5. Haruka Mirai by Kankaku Piero (OP 1)
Start of the show so it’s mostly Asta and Yuno based which is fine because you haven’t met many characters yet but I prefer the ones that include more of the characters
I like that the shots of the Black Bulls and Captains are like illustrations in the pages of a grimoire.
I remember this OP making me think Magna was going to be more important than the other Black Bulls because there’s a shot of him riding on Crazy Cyclone with Asta and Noelle. Like, I thought they were going to be a trio or something.
This is the OP that they play during scenes in the show so it has some nostalgia as the first one and it shows how much Asta has grown.
Being the first OP, it hits different and has a special place, but I think there are better ones down the line.
youtube
youtube
4. Black Catcher by Vicke Blanka (OP 10)
Cool OP because there is a drastic change between its two versions
Song is really good.
The first one fits that point in the story well because it’s colorless and raining and everything seems hopeless.
Secre flying through the air as the past plays out and then a shot of Asta shows how she’s been around for years.
Cool action fighting the devil.
When light breaks through the darkness and Secre cries :’)
As for the second version…
Secre falling through the sky but she has the Black Bulls cloak on now is nice.
I like Asta running through the illustrations of all these people he’s met. It’s recalling all the adventures he’s had so far.
Creepy shot of Gordon’s family which probably jumpscared me the first time I watched it
I want to punch Damnatio in the face
Some cool action
More foreshadowing ooooooo
Another good ending shot of the Black Bulls
youtube
3. RiGHT NOW by EMPiRE (OP 9)
Hype OP which is good for this arc
DRAMATIC LIGHTING
More elf trauma
Interesting that the first shots of the Black Bulls don’t show their faces really
I like how they show the backstories of Finral, Luck, Gauche, and Noelle on backgrounds that look like their grimoires.
Really good action shots
Mereoleona and Fuegoleon are going feral
Asta breaking through the black is cool.
Oooooo foreshadowing
youtube
2. Black Rover by Vicke Blanka (OP 3)
OH BOY
This was one of the openings I already knew before watching the show and I could not wait to get to it. Having the context just made it better.
Never skipped this OP. Ever.
Song goes so hard.
I was so excited that we were going to see Yami in action
There’s also a small fight with Magna, Luck, Asta, and Noelle against these cloaked figures you assume are the Eye of the Midnight Sun. They’re the characters we mainly know so far and it’s a cool bit.
This is the OP that I feel sums up Black Clover as a series the best. Like, I would show this to someone to try and convince them to watch the show.
youtube
Guess Who Is Back by Kumi Koda (OP 4)
YESSSSSSSS
An OP I never skipped
This song goes so hard.
While Black Clover is the OP that I think sums up Black Clover, this is pure Black Bulls awesomeness. It’s so hype.
I like shots of the grimoires. They’re fun.
I love their dramatic ass poses at the beginning with the lighting shifts.
The shots of Asta, Magna, Luck, Vanessa, Finral, and Noelle going from rougher sketches to more vivid and dimensional (I don’t know how to describe this). I want to scream at this part, it’s so good.
Then, the group shot at the end as they face Vetto.
It’s just so so so so amazing and gets you excited.

Tears of the Kingdom: People in Trouble
Hi! This is my first Zelda theory and my first post ever! Really I just need an outlet to put all my thoughts because none of my friends play video games. I apologize if this post is all over the place.
Ok to get into it, first I wanna state that I am elaborating on Monster Maze’s Secrets of the Surface video he posted recently. I highly recommend watching the video along with Monster Maze’s other content!
youtube
With the new trailer drop and release of the official artwork for Tears of the Kingdom, many theorists have noticed two main things: Death Mountain being blocked by Malice and a wind tunnel somewhere in the Tabanatha/Hebra region.
Tumblr media
In Monster Maze’s video, he theorized what exactly is going on with Hyrule’s surface. He states that perhaps Ganon is attacking the races of Hyrule with natural disasters along with their Divine Beasts. I think that Ganon is not only doing this, but purposely trying to put the Divine Beasts out of commission so they can’t be used against him once again. In a game perspective, having all the Sheikah technology accessible to us in ToTK would be dull and we’ve already seen a lack of Sheikah Towers and Shrines in the teasers we’ve received. Explaining the absence of Sheikah towers and Sheikah shrines are easy- they aren’t needed and have sunken into the ground for the next Hero. The Divine Beasts although we’re dug up, so they have no mechanism that would explain why they disappeared into the ground. Therefore it’s a possibility that the game developers solution to this is to make the Divine Beasts unusable.
First up, the Gorons and Vah Rudania.
It’s obvious to see from the trailer and artwork that Death Mountain is blocked by malice, much like how malice is rising from under Hyrule Castle.
“If” (quotations because it’s basically confirmed) Ganondorf is underground somewhere then the malice rising from the earths crust make a lot of sense. The malice is releasing out onto the surface, and hopefully we see more evidence of this predicament in other places such as the Yiga hole or the other caves surrounding Hyrule.
So how does this affect the Gorons and Vah Rudania?
Well first off, no lava means no rock roasts. In BOTW, gorons eat “rock roasts” which look like rib of magma rock. In the side quests “A Brother’s Roast”, Blado asks Link to find a rock roast for his Gonguron who collapse in Gorko Tunnel. After eating the roast, Gonguron has enough strength to pound a wall of rocks away to reveal a shrine. Rock Roasts give the Gorons a burst of energy that practically revitalizes them.
Because Death Mountain is blocked by malice and therefore the lava flow is stopped, we can assume the gorons are in a food drought. I don’t think Nintendo would portray the extremities of such a situation, but we can expect tired sluggish Gorons. This in turn effects the mines, that would most likely not be in use due to low energy and lack of food. If that’s the case, the economy of Gordon City would also be poor as BOTW explained that the Gorons sell the minerals from their ore deposits as they are inedible to them.
Assuming the Divine Beasts can be seen (not used) in this game, Vah Rudania would be largely effected. Vah Rudania is always found high atop Death Mountain, circling its crater. What if Vah Rudania is in the volcano, blocked by the malice? We know that Vah Rudania can fit easily inside from BoTW. The malice may be erupting from Death Mountain, imprisoning Vah Rudania and afflicting the Gorons in triple whammy disaster.
Next, the Rito and and Vah Medoh.
It’s hard to tell where this wind tunnel, tornado like column is based of the artwork alone, but in Monster Maze’s video he placed it in the Tabanatha and Hebra region due to the angle and BOTW map. Either way, the actual appearance of the tunnel is strange, as it clearly isn’t forming from the sky like a tornado does. Instead, their seems to be a center that is gathering hot and cold air on the ground surface creating the phenomenon.
No matter where the tunnel is, it would hugely effect the Rito’s and their flight habits. Every Rito would be unable to navigate the strong winds in fear of getting sucked into the vortex, therefore their whole way of life is disrupted. They could be trapped in Rito village in a forced shelter in place. Those were at the flight range and Warbler’s nest may never be able to fly back home, instead being forced to walk to reach the village. If things are really extreme such as a tornado is, the vortex could be sucking away parts of the village, including the bridges leading to it.
Depending on where the tunnel is, the Ritos may be able to evacuate to another part of Hyrule like lower Tabantha or Northern Hebra near the labyrinth. This would be a cool way to change up the location of the Ritos and serve as a way to change up Hyrule’s landscape that we explored in BOTW.
As Monster Maze theorized, it’s makes the most sense for the wind tunnel to be surrounding Hebra mountain as the area in BOTW served little purpose besides shrines, a leviathan, and shield surfing. If the eye of the storm is Rito Village, that will also pose as a great danger for the Rito.
No matter where, Vah Medoh would be grounded, unable to navigate through the strong winds that could suck the divine beast into the vortex of the tunnel. Like the Rito, it would lose its main function and therefore unusable for anyone to use against Ganon.
Additionally, it would make sense if the Rito couldn’t fly, as we know ToTK features sky islands. No Rito to help Link up to the islands!
Though we don’t see any proof of these disasters inflicting the Zora and the Gerudos, I’ve theorized a couple of ways Ganon can disrupt their life.
The Zora and Vah Ruta are easier to theorize about as water can be involved in so many natural disasters. In BOTW, the Zora featured an endless amount of rain so it’s unlikely Nintendo would pull that again. That leaves a drought, a flood, or Zora’s domain freezing over. It would be a nice throwback to OOT and TP to see the domain frozen again, causing the Zora Springs to stop flowing. A flood is entirely possible, as said in BOTW that the East Reservoir could flood with Ruta’s rain.
Another possibility is that the domain is filled with the pools of malice seen in Hyrule Castle Town, the Akkala Citadel, etc. in BOTW. This would be an interesting way to plague the Zora’s who can’t swim in the malice waters.
I’d like to think of we’d get a combination resulting in both the pools of malice and the Zora Springs being dried up. That way the whole landscape of Hyrule is change as the rivers and lakes would also dry as a result, while the pools of malice would be a new affliction never seen in a LOZ game.
Either way, the Zora and Vah Ruta wouldn’t function.
Lastly, the Gerudos and Vah Naboris.
This is tough because BOTW already saw sand storms plaguing Gerudo desert and there isn’t much else to cause such a disruption.
The most logical thing I could come up with is a monsoon. Heavy rainfalls that disrupt the sand dunes, causing them to shift and unearth structures (like the Arbiter’s ground perhaps). A monsoon would cause landslides that could devastate Gerudo Town, burying it in sand and causing food and goods to be damaged.
Vah Naboris too could be buried within the sand dunes, the grains cogging up the machine so it’s unable to move at all.
All of this could accumulate into one of the things Zelda fans were missing in BOTW: dungeons.
Dungeons centered around freeing the races and their divine beasts from the disasters, allowing for a traditional Zelda experience.
Overall, I would like to see a change in Hyrule’s geography and I think it would be interesting if these natural disasters did so! I have more to say on the Hyrulian and Sheikah but I don’t want to make this post longer than it already is. More to follow!

I actually studied utopias/dystopias as part of my Foreign Language, Literature and Culture (English) + Ancient Literature, Language and Culture (Latin) for my baccalaureat (end of High School French diploma) and I enjoyed it so much I wanna talk about it.
So we had to come up with a question to answer in 5 minutes (it's an oral exam) + 10min of questions with the jury + 5min of questions about our future. Two questions, actually, about different subjects. I chose utopias as my first: "How do the concept of Utopia evolved through the ages from Thomas More to today?". The second question was: "What are the links between the Fantastic and religions?"
So, a utopia is defined as such: an imaginary world that is both perfect and unreal. It cannot be real. When you break down the word to its Ancient Greek origin, it gives you this: "u-topia", topia comes from topos (τοπος) wich means "place". U is a bit more complicated. It can means "ou" (ου) that means "not", so a utopia is actually not a place that exists, or "eu" (ευ-) which means "good". A good place that doesn't exist.
The concept of perfect city or perfect place goes back to ancient myths about the Golden Age of civilization, that exists in Ancient Greek mythology, and is like to the Garden of Eden. There was a time, before us, when everyone was happy and didn't have to work (you can read about it in Hesiod’s Works and Days or in the Old Testament. But it is also a philosophical concept in Plato’s Republic and Aristotle.
The concept carries on during the Middle Ages with Saint Augustin and his City of God: egoism makes the terrestrial city and altruism makes the ethereal city, blah blah blah. But it wasn’t going as strong as you might think, plus the word “utopia” wasn’t coined yet.
It was coined by Thomas More in 1516 thanks to his Utopia. He wrote in the preface: “I one of all other without philosophy / have shapped for many a philosophical city.” And it is philosophical precisely because we can’t choose whether we like it or not (actually, I do, and I hate it). Honorable mentions to Francis Bacon, The New Atlantis and Tommaso Campanella, The City of the Sun (in reference to Saint Augustin).
The philosophical concept had a real impact on urbanism, especial around the industrial era, and on politics with socialism and communism. People start to make maps of perfect cities as soon as 1619 with Andreae’s Reipublica Chritianopolitanae descriptio or  Paul Fourdrinier and Peter Gordon’s A View of Savannah as it stood the 29th of March 1734. Architects also took inspiration from Hippodamos of Milet for cities such as Barcelona or even a lot of American cities (yes, the grid plan, also called hippodamian plan).
Dystopia always comes after utopia and in urbanism, it is in the shape of capitalism, with workers cities such as Godin’s Familistère and, of course, dictatorship (Stalin, Hitler...). About that, Sam Green said in his documentary Utopia in Four Movements: “Today we are people who know better, and that’s both a wonderful and terrible thing”.

Christmas In July Ch. 6
This was probably my favorite one to write so far! I couldn’t stop imagining Virgil as Kurt Russel’s Santa Claus from The Christmas Chronicles movie. It would just be so perfect. Hint to the chapter plot: this one is entitled Here Comes Santa Claus!
AO3 link here!
Tumblr media
“You’ve got an idea of the route and times? There should be a map uploaded to One’s processors.”
“Looks easy enough. You did all the hard work.”
“And I hope it all works out for this first time. The cargo?”
“All secured.”
“Fuel levels?”
“Tanks are completely full.”
“Good. That should get you to Mali. Alan and Gordon will rendezvous with you for a fuel fill up there and a second one in Colombia. Kayo will have more cargo for you as well.”
Scott taps a few buttons on his console. He smiles up to John. “I think we’re good to go down here.”
“Virgil?”
“I’m with Scott. Everything’s in order.”
Scott cranes his neck to Virgil in One’s jump seat. “You ready for takeoff then, Santa? It’s going to be a long ride.”
Virgil mock salutes. “24 hours straight? Piece of cake.”
“You mean cookies.”
Virgil snorts. Leave it to John to chime in with that comment. Scott groans with a smile on his face as he finishes up readying One. Her engines rumble to life under them.
“Pre-flight checks complete, area is clear. Thunderbird One is go!”
Scott punches One up into the sky out of the swimming pool. Virgil braces himself, gripping tightly to the shoulder pads and keeping his eyes shut at the intense force. Scott switches to horizontal flight and Virgil can sigh a breath of relief until they land in the first destination.
“Can you crank the air conditioning? It’s a bit hot in this suit?”
Scott obliges, but it’s going to take a while to cool Virgil down as cold as he wants.
“Don’t go passing out on us with that. I’m the only other one that marginally fit,” Scott warns as Virgil fans at his face.
He tugs at the collar of the red suit to try and get some of the cooling air beneath his getup. It’s a gorgeous thing that a group of aunties made and sent back in September for this very reason. Underneath the outer layers is a billowy white undershirt that Virgil left tucked into his pants. A soft red vest keeps it from twisting too far out of place.
The coat, hat, and pants are made of a natural plant fiber that mimics that look of leather, both dyed a vibrant shade of scarlet. The trim of the ensemble is synthetic sable fur that swirls into browns, grays, and ash instead of being solid white. Virgil’s boots and belt are made of the same leather alternative while being an oily black. His gloves match the other accessories but were tucked away in his pocket amidst loading One.
Virgil pops the hat off. Scott’s busy navigating with their heavy cargo load of children’s presents. John gave them a very specific flight path and speed guidelines; it’s perfectly calculated to take exactly 24 hours with One arriving at each destination at dusk. The first is their next-door neighbor New Zealand, with Japan following close behind. He runs a finger through his hair. The feeling of it brushing his shoulders is an odd one along with the beard tickling his nose.
Gordon and Alan had conspired before the month of December hit. The aquanaut was the one that joked about having a No Shave November competition between the brothers. Scott only agreed once Gordon put in a blow below the belt of “I bet Virgil is the only one that can even grow a beard.” As it turns out, Virgil and John are the only ones that can grow a full beard given a month’s time.
That’s where phase two started. On December 1st, John came down to the Island to rid himself of the facial hair and collect his betting reward. The Tinies had no qualms. But then Alan insisted (begged is more like it, Virgil thinks) that Virgil not shave his. They even roped Kayo in on their master plan by having her comment that if he grew it out a bit longer and added white and gray streaks, he’d make the perfect young Saint Nick.
It’s actually pretty fitting to the rest of his normal getup and Virgil couldn’t complain when one of his brothers left a high-end beard oil kit on his bathroom vanity. Kayo, a truly evil being that wants to watch her brothers descend into chaos, also gave the idea of Virgil doing the same with his hair.
So Virgil left the beard unshaved and the hair uncut with no gel.
“First stop coming up. You ready, Virge?”
“Ready.” Virgil replaces the hat and gloves to complete his look. Before getting too far, he taps the in-ear headset hidden by the red hat and hair. Security doesn’t stop just because it’s Christmas. “John, how’s this sounding?”
“You’re loud and clear. Have fun.”
Virgil undoes the shoulder harnesses and grabs the railing as Scott lands in their first drop off point. He snags a premade sack from the cargo bay. Scott opens the underbelly of One and Virgil hops onto the helipad of the children’s hospital. As he turns around to signal to Scott to close the ship and turn the engines down, he catches sight of One. The Mechanic had gone all out with aesthetic modifications, and One truly looks like a high-tech Santa sleigh. Scott’s not terribly pleased, but Brains reminded him it’s for the children. And temporary.
“Oh my gosh!”
“Santa!”
“Santa Claus!”
The squeaks and squeals of excited children never gets old. Virgil waves to them from behind the safety line. One little girl gets too eager to see “Santa” and tries to clamor out of her wheelchair with two broken legs. A man who looks to be her grandfather picks her up in his arms instead. Virgil chuckles to himself.
He clears his throat. Virgil steps forward with a proud gait and the burlap sack heavy with gifts over his shoulder. The ooh’s and aah’s increase the closer he gets. Now, just as they practiced…
“Ho, ho, ho! Merry Christmas, one and all!”

Lewis Gordon, The Ringer:
On the one hand, a sense of adventure that has few peers in video games: wanderlust, dread, the sublime, all achieved within a vast, meticulously designed open world. On the other, systems and mechanics that combine in such a way that they both react physically to the player and seem to exist independently of them, alternately inspiring awe and glee and making a virtual setting feel truly alive.
By the mid-2010s, Ubisoft’s icon-filled open-world “map games” (a pejorative term expressing players’ frustration with having to scour a map to find things to do rather than looking at the world itself) had reached their logical extremes [...] At their most cynical, these ballooning virtual spaces appeared less like living, breathing worlds than sites to consume ever more content.
Breath of the Wild was born from a crystalline picture: Link climbing a cliff before paragliding to the ground below, moving seamlessly from rock to air, and then, finally, landing comfortably on terra firma. There was more, though: survival and what director Hidemaro Fujibayashi called the “creativity of combination”—for example, lighting wood with fire to create a larger bonfire. The Zelda series, whose game mechanics were usually so precise and predictable, would open itself up to the natural elements. In the process, it would have to embrace a degree of chaos and chance.
Central to the game’s production was figuring out how such a world should behave. After all, a space that lacks consequence, friction, or discord is arguably one without life.
What Nintendo’s game gave Kythreotis, beyond direction about how this mechanic should function, was a sense of belief—not just in himself and Fineberg, but in the player, who with expanded input would become more of a “collaborator in the experience.”
Maybe Breath of the Wild is the Platonic ideal of a type of action game that almost everyone who has ever picked up a controller has envisioned: one in which a lone warrior explores a mythic landscape that responds to their actions in a meaningful way. [...] Perhaps because Nintendo operates according to its own set of rules, forgoing the graphical arms race to focus on design, it was able to burrow deeper than anyone else into the systems that bring such a game to life. As Kythreotis stresses, “Zelda is never trying to be a film. It wants to tell its story through systems and mechanics. It embraces video games as a form.”

An Unusual Team, Chapter One
So, the muse bit me.
An Unusual Family AU crossover with CSaTM
Ao3 link here
KRA-BOOM!
The echoes of the short but powerful explosion had barely faded when bedroom doors crashed open all across the Island, the occupants startled awake and swarming towards the lounge. John’s hologram was already lighting up the room with the usual blue glow as the last of the family assembled to find out what on earth was going on out there.
Jeff wasted absolutely no time getting to the bottom of things. “John, what the hell was that? Aside from the obvious.”
“I have no idea,” the fae responded, his bafflement warring with his fear. “There wasn’t anything on radar or scanners, something quite simply just exploded about a kilometre south of the Island.”
“Can you tell if it was air or sea?” Scott asked, a frightened Hope cradled in the circle of his arms.
“Most likely a mid-air explosion,” John paused to look at something outside the projector’s visual pick up range, “I’m starting to detect some signs of debris, definitely some sort of air or space craft.”
“Okay, Scott, Gordon, take One and Four and go check it out. John, try drop a probe into the area. EOS, you and Brains need to figure out why the hell we didn’t notice whatever it was before it blew. Virgil, Ma, prep the infirmary. Everyone else, get the defences up. Something doesn’t feel right about all this.” Jeff ordered, reaching out to take Hope from Scott.
There was a round of answering "F.A.B."s as the group split up. Moments after that Thunderbird One was splitting the night sky while Thunderbird Four cut through the sea.
0o0o0
“Approaching danger zone.” Delicately guiding his submarine with deft movements of the bar and ring controllers, Gordon kept one eye on his sonar and the other on the murky water as he chopped power to the turbines and let the current carry his Thunderbird forward. He could feel a faint itch under his skin from his Squid Sense sounding off, but that was it, and the uncertainty of it threatened to drive him up the wall if he dwelt on it too long. “Scott, John, you seeing anything? There has to be a plankton bloom going on, I’ve got maybe five metres of visibility, beyond that, soup.”
“Nothing else to report, Thunderbird Four.” John’s small hologram replied. It was telling that he missed the obvious jibe of ‘chicken or pea and ham?’ or something else along those lines; the fae was badly shaken by this undetected intruder in their airspace and the threat to their home. “The plankton’s too thick for the probe to pick up anything useful.”
“Nothing here either…wait.” Scott’s voice trailed off as something caught his attention, the eldest’s hologram twisting in his seat as he swooped around for a closer look.
Gordon flexed his hands on Four’s controls as the seconds ticked by, but that was the only sign of his restlessness.
“I’ve got something, looks like some landing gear, half a wing and part of a tail fin, but there’s no markings visible.” Scott reported. A ping and a holographic map popped up, the exact coordinates marked, along with a still from One’s external cameras showing the wreckage floating in the water, illuminated by One’s spotlights. “I don’t see anyone though, or any bodies.”
“I don’t have any matches for those aircraft parts.” John sounded perplexed, and though he didn’t say anything Gordon was too, Five’s database had every known aircraft in its files. “But the size indicates it must have been a small passenger jet.”
“I’m just north of the wreckage, I’m going to get out and take a look.” A sequence of buttons had Four ‘parked’ in station-keeping mode and Gordon settled his helmet into place.
“Be careful, we still don’t know who this is, or was,” John cautioned.
“Understood, I’ll make sure you’ve got a live feed from my helmet cam.” Gordon checked his iron knife was secure in his baldric, then crossed his arms over his chest as Four’s seat tipped back to drop him into the water.
Though the lights on his helmet did help, his visibility outside and actually in the water was only marginally better than from inside the sub,  “But,” was Gordon’s thought as he twisted and shifted, “at least now I can use my lateral lines and hear things.”
And there was a lot to hear - the eerie creaking and groaning of metal giving way to the immense pressure of the deep, air pockets or pressurised tanks popping with muffled thuds, and the sizzle of bubbles as they streamed off and raced towards the surface. Gordon flicked his tail and swam towards the noises. “I think I see the main body of the aircraft, but it’s sinking too deep and too fast for me to chase it.” Gordon reported, seeing a large white shape vanishing into the midnight depths of the sea.
“Any markings or ID?” Scott radioed.
“Nothing I could see, but it’s pretty torn up, looks like the side of the fuselage blew out.” Gordon watched it sink until it was gone, knowing John would be analysing the footage for any clues, then turned to look around some more. Other bits of debris appeared out of the murk, detritus of life that had been brutally interrupted - a fire-damaged passenger seat tumbled after the fuselage, torn from its mountings with quite a bit of force. A tray, then a thermos flask drifted past, followed by a tattered down jacket that was spilling its stuffing into the sea.
Then another shape slowly resolved in the cone of bright white light from his helmet.
“Guys, I’ve got a body!” Gordon swam forward and gently scooped up the drifting form. “Male, Caucasian. Black hair.” A flash of colour on the dark sleeve caught his attention and the man’s armoured tunic and boots suddenly made sense. “This is a Spectrum uniform!”
“Spectrum? Well, that might explain why we didn’t detect the plane,” Scott remarked. “Do you see anyone else? I’m still not seeing anything up here, and the only lifesign I’ve got is yours.”
Still holding the body, Gordon swept his gaze around, turning in a full circle as he scanned the surrounding water. “Negative.” He took a closer look at the body and a ragged hole in the tunic caught his attention. “Hey, this guy’s been shot!”
“Gordon, get back to Thunderbird Four and bring him with you, we’ll do another search when we’ve got daylight.” Jeff jumped in on the call. “If he’s been shot, that means blood, and blood means sharks. Out of the water and back to base.” “F.A.B.” Gordon shifted his grip on his burden, turned and started swimming back to his Thunderbird. “Poor guy. Well, at least we can give him back to his family.”

I’m looking at Gordon’s seventeenth century map of Edinburgh now and there’s a particularly distinct difference between the old (formerly separate) burghs of Edinburgh and the Canongate that I never noticed before now. Yes the two are separated by a wall and they have some other differences but the most striking thing to me is that in Edinburgh they built on the backland.
So along the part of what is now the Royal Mile that runs through the Canongate, there are long strips of garden behind each tenement. This is a pattern which was very common on the high street of a lot of Scottish burghs- one example which immediately springs to mind is Brechin, where you can still see gardens sloping down to the water if you walk along Skinner’s burn, which presumably conform to the ancient burgage plots. Alternatively, here’s Gordon’s map of the north-east burgh of Aberdeen, where you can see long thin gardens behind most of the houses:
Tumblr media
(Detail from a map of Aberdeen, c.1661)
But once the Royal Mile enters Edinburgh IMMEDIATELY the situation changes. At the back of every five, six, even seven-storey tenement is yet more buildings and this is especially evident on the north side of the high street, where the ground slopes down to what was once the Nor’ Loch (and which is now occupied by Waverley Station and Princes Street Gardens). So not only did they have to build upwards in Edinburgh, they also had to build back on to the land included in the original toft. Compared to somewhere like London, seventeenth century Edinburgh was not that big but the population was extremely densely concentrated. The town is still famous for its tall closely packed buildings but even compared to other Scottish burghs it must have been distinctive, and I’d never realised the difference was so stark until I really looked closely and compared it side by side with the neighbouring burgh of Canongate.
Tumblr media
(Detail from a map of Edinburgh and Canongate c.1647 - I’ve drawn a red line at the point at the boundary between the two burghs, near a set of buildings that stick out into the street and which probably include the building now known as John Knox’s house)
I know I’m not saying anything particularly new it’s just such a distinct and stark difference that I hadn’t even thought about properly until I saw it so I had to babble. Personally I thought that, having been in Dunbar’s Close Garden and some of the other areas around the back of the Canongate, you can still *feel* the contrast with somewhere like Fleshmarket Close, even if you can’t necessarily see it. Of course that’s just my opinion, and certainly slum clearance up in the old town has opened up some of the areas behind the upper end of the Royal Mile while conversely modern buildings have covered a lot of the old backlands of the Canongate. But idk I just thought it was really cool. (I’m also enjoying looking at the Lawnmarket and trying to work out which of these really tall old buildings is Gladstone’s Land).

ok so,,, i think imma try a longfic abt the batkids getting stuck in the yj universe. except batman don't exist so they're not heroes (expect cissie and simon)
so imma introduce you to my lesser-known characters below the cut:
babs, dick, jason, tim, cass, steph, duke, and damian are people most people already know, but we also got luke, simon, wendy, helena, harper, cullen, bette, cissie, isabella, kitrina, charlie, olivia, tristan, riko, colin, and carrie
luke: aka lucas fox, aka one of the two sons and four children of lucius fox, aka a vigilante named batwing and ceo of his own company foxtech
simon: simon dark is a really small-time character. so basically, he was created with a mix of mad science, magic, and twenty dead teenage boy's bodies. yes, i know it's creepy. he has enhanced healing and the ability to use each one of the faces of the twenty boys he's made of. he can also do magic, mostly clairvoyance, which for him means being able to tell the secrets someone's keeping from him and see farther than the horizon. he also has enhanced strength, telekinesis, the ability to psychically link people (like miss martian), and the ability to dimension-travel. in canon, he looks a mess of different skin tones and frankenstein stitching but in my fic, he's gonna be looking like a normal(ish) boy.
wendy: wendy white, sometimes called wendy harris, graduated mit alongside her twin brother, marvin, at sixteen and became a caretaker of titans tower. she and her brother were attacked by wonderdog and she fell into a coma while marvin died. her father is a gotham villain named the calculator, who wanted the anti-life formula (i don’t what it is but apparently it’s really powerful) to wake her up. he was defeated but she woke up on her own. she's paralyzed from the waist down and she became babs' apprentice, codename proxy
helena: helena bertinelli, was supposedly the daughter of a mafia guy and his wife, but it turns out she's actually the daughter of the wife and some other mafia dude. well mafia dude (the bio dad) hates the mafia family mafia guy (the other dad) is a part of, so he ordered to have mafia guy and his family killed (helena had older and younger siblings, i think). he told the killer to spare the lady he had helena with and kill the rest of them but the killer done messed and killed the mom instead of helena. helena hates mafia and crime so when she becomes huntress, she has nothing against killing. she's actually still young tho, she left boarding school in switzerland to come back to gotham and be a vigilante. she's also part of the birds of prey and has been both batgirl and batman
harper and cullen: the row twins/siblings. cullen was attacked by his classmates for being gay but the second time he was attacked, batman and robin (i think it was tim) stopped the bullies. harper, who's insanely good with engineering, became bluebird with a few handmade weapons and cullen stayed home. in my fic, he's gonna be catlad, trained by selina, in the field and coeus, fitting the greek myth theme, when on comms
bette: bette kane is somehow related to kate kane, who's bruce's cousin and also batwoman. bette was the first batgirl but when dc rebooted she was made flamebird then hawkfire instead. in my fic, she's batgirl in the field and medusa behind the screen
cissie: cissie has no origin story which means i can still make her arrowette in a batman-less world. cissie king-jones is arrowette. and her mom wanted her to be a hero. that's quite literally all i know. she's part of the batfam instead of the arrowfam for some reason tho
isabella: isabella ortiz was part of we are robin under the name robina, and is canonically dating duke. in my fic, she's dating harper instead 'cause duke is dating cullen. anyway, she's poor and also, her dad doesn't know she was part of we are robin
kitrina: kitrina falcone is the youngest falcone who didn't wanna be mafia so she idolized catwoman instead. she was accused of betraying the family so she ran, becoming kittyhawk and helping catwoman and penguin. in my fic, she's known as stray instead
charlie: charlie gage-radcliffe aka misfit is a metahuman with the ability to teleport (she calls it 'bouncing'). she didn't wanna be a hero and she couldn't teleport with people without killing them, so when her apartment building burned down with her mom and newborn sibling inside, she ran according to her mom's wishes. she resurfaced as batgirl, but when babs finally cornered her, she gave it up and became misfit instead, tagging along with the birds of prey
olivia: olivia carr was kidnapped by the dollmaker and brainwashed into becoming part of his 'family'. when jim gordon was also kidnapped, he helped her escape and told her to give a note to batman on the gcpd's roof. she was later handed over to a gcpd cop while batman went to save the commissioner but it turned out the cop was crooked and wanted to sell her to some kidnappers so she slit his throat and ran away. she goes by mannequin
tristan: tristan grey goes to damian's school along with maps, olive, and pom and a few others. he's a metahuman with enhanced vision, strength, and the ability to "transform" somehow
riko: riko sheridan was also part of we are robin under the name r-iko. she was actually expelled from damian and tristan's school (damian was too actually). she idolizes batgirl, which is why, in the fic, i gave her the name black bat while cass is orphan
colin: colin wilkes aka abuse is basically a ten-year-old hulk with control over his hulkiness. he's damian's friend and an orphan who got his powers thanks to kobra venom when he was trafficked
last but not least, carrie!: she's technically from an alternate universe and was robin after jason instead of tim, then catgirl, then batwoman. in this fic, she's catgirl. she uses a slingshot
