Respawn is Phantom

When Danny was electrocuted in the portal, he died, it's true, but it wasn't just his soul that came out. You could call it a case of bad luck, but a ghost was looking to return to the world of the living and saw an opportunity.

So the reason Phantom has that appearance is because the ghost that got mixed into Danny's DNA is Respawn. Slade and Talia's clone who had recently passed away.

Danny is unaware of this at first, but after confronting Dan he began to wonder: why separating his ghost from his human side would make him aggressive? Why does he sometimes feel things that he swears don't make sense? And if Phantom was just a manifestation of his ghost powers, how could he be separated into his own being?

He'd been split up before but it created two versions of Danny, not Danny and Phantom. How could his powers grow a personality of their own without him?

Each of those questions has its own explanation: His ghost side is actually Respawn, which is slowly being absorbed by Danny. Respawn knows exactly who he is (or was) but as long as he's attached to Danny he is Danny, to an extent. Or at least, Phantom, who's a part of Danny more than he is Respawn.

He can remember everything but he can't make Danny remember any of it, because it's not his memories. And Danny both as Fenton and Phantom takes priority in their mind. The reason Dan was like this was because of the influence of Plasmius and Respawn. After all, the serum in Slade's blood often drives teenagers crazy.

Respawn lived all his life questioning his status as a person due to the fact that he was a clone. Living with Slade and seeing their differences made the process easier, but now? Now he can only influence the person who has him trapped, even if it is accidentally. Not knowing if one day he will disappear into Danny's consciousness.

Respawn can't make Danny remember his life, not out of any moral or emotional reason, he is locked behind a mental block, an entire person deep in Danny's subconscious that he doesn't know about and doesn't get to come out pretty much ever.

There are decisions in which Respawn positively influenced Danny. As the way of taking Dani's existence, because he knew exactly how she felt at that time, and Dani reminded him too much of his sister Rose. His influence has also extended to Phantom's way of acting: More fearless and risk-taking than when he's just Danny, he's also more easily swayed by anger (something that was very present in Respawn when he was alive).

Basically, he can affect small things like the aforementioned confidence and anger, emotions and stray thoughts mostly, especially intrusive ones, but he's not in control of anything.

The moment Slade shows up at Amity Park and sees Phantom is when things start to get complicated for Danny and Respawn.

Respawn had no idea who this guy was. He had woken up on the forest floor somewhere after a fight with Robin that had admittedly ended poorly for both of them.

All his wounds were bandaged and looked after. He wasn't even in pain! A rare luxury indeed. Looking over he saw a guy around his own age cooking some fish over an open flame. The other teen, as if feeling eyes on him, turned toward Respawn and smiled.

"I hope you like green onions." He said, motioning towards the plate stacked high with the vegetable, "They're the only edible thing I could find."

The day dragged on with the guy-Danny- playing nursemaid and insisting to take care of Respawn as he recovered, even going so far as to cut his food for him. Hes pretty sure Danny would have fed him himself if he had struggled anymore with handling the stick the fish was on.

Blessedly his enhanced healing factor ensured that he wasn't down for too long and he could take care of himself. He couldn't bring himself to be annoyed with Danny though. He was actually rather grateful.

When Respawn asked why Danny was out here in the wilderness he sheepishly told him about how his mad scientist parents had made a portal to another dimension and had tried to create a portal gun for portable access to said dimension. They were showing it to him, his sister and his two friends when something went wrong and the gun went off, sucking them all into the new portal. He woke up in the forest alone.

Looking back on thier past conversations, Repawn decided that it made sense. It would explain why Danny didn't know what a meta human was or that they had rights protecting them. Danny had been so excited when he had told him and immediately began using his unholy number of powers to help them survive in the wild.

Aka Danny, Jazz, Maddie, Jack, Sam, and Tucker are all thrown into the DC universe and all of them have been separated and are worried sick about the others and trying to find them

Aunt Alicia called her family to visit her in the isolated woodland town. For a whole week, they would stay there. Closed all in Amity Park, and a shield around the portal so Ghost can't leave it,... They should have built that first before the portal. But we weren't even sure that Ghost really would come.

As the Fenton were there, he had a boy with her, a child of an old friend of hers. He calls him Respawn; he was a clone. And she needed her family's help with it; she has no idea how to raise a child. And Deathstroke kind of failed most times. And he asked her for it; he will visit once a week.

Respawn has no idea how he was named Steve, after Steve Rogers from the comics. It turns out his new mom and aunt were fans of the comics and thought first that his dad was the Super Soldier of the US. But she learned he was a mercenary, and now Alicia wants to have a little Captain America! For the first time, a family will have a hero! Wait... Alicia:" Do you even want to be a hero?" Respawn:" ... sounds like fun?" Maddie:" Yes! First time, a hero!"

Danny wasn't sure what to say. Danny:" But..." Jack:" We know that you tried your hardest to play Hero as Phantom Danny. But well, we are proud of the crimes you committed while doing it. But do it outside of Amity Park, please."

Respawn likes his cousins too, Uncle? Jack is pretty funny. And Danny likes to fight too! And he didn't fight like a hero—too brutal. No wonder the rest thought he was a villain. And Jazz talks with him to help him with his problems?

Ex-Villians Fentons, who all retired. Fentons knew Danny was Phantom and were sure he was just Meta and not Half Ghost. But we were proud that he started to be a villain, even if he was confused at times.

if i had a penny every time there's a character that has two forms with basically inverted colors where black and white switch, and this character's second form is strongly associated with death, the character's own self is associated with ghosts, and in the end the character may have become a godlike monarch i would have had two pennies but it's weird that it's happened twice

Life-Saving Minecraft Tips that I almost never see anyone else using (am I just bad at the game...?)

Always carry a bucket of water in your hotbar, especially if you're going caving.

Keep a Warped Fungus handy when traversing the Nether. Hoglins can't attack you if you're standing near a Warped Fungus. I also like to keep a Flower Pot on me just in case I run into a pack of Hoglins somewhere I can't place the fungus directly on the ground.

Use potions. Idk if it's just the kinds of lets-players I watch or what, but I can't believe how many people are sleeping on these.

Night Vision for the Deep Dark (Nether Wart + Golden Carrot). Keeps you from waking up the Warden with a single careless torch placement, and also negates the Darkness effect if you activate a Shrieker.

Invisibility Potions for death runs back to your items (Night Vision Potion + Fermented Spider Eye)

Slow Falling for the Ender Dragon fight (Nether Wart + Phantom Membrane)

Fire Resistance negates like 85% of the danger in the Nether (Nether Wart + Magma Cream)

Adding some Redstone Dust to any potion will increase the duration of its effects to 8 minutes. Three max-duration potions will keep you covered for a little more than one full day-night cycle.

Wool blocks are soundproof (but carpets aren't 😕). Completely covering a Skulk Sensor or Chest with wool blocks before interacting with it will prevent chain reactions from other Sensors.

Set up a safe base with a bed at world spawn (usually around coordinates 0, 0) so that you don't have to sprint buck naked through the night if you lose your respawn point.

I actually like to put my main base near world spawn because I easily get disoriented when trying to navigate by coordinates alone, and it's much simpler for me to just follow a Compass back home (I think that's an exclusive-to-Niki problem tho. I've never heard of anyone else wanting to do this 😅).

This is only tangentially related, but I can remember a time when Zombies dropped Feathers instead of Rotten Flesh. You'd think I wouldn't die so often, having played this game for almost 13 years...

MINECRAFT STEVE

We shall assume Steve is in Adventure Mode and cannot simply break the Castle blocks with his hands.

I think Minecraft Steve's biggest problem in Castle Dracula is that he can't sleep because there are monsters nearby. If he tries to escape by night he will be immediately killed by Phantoms.

I don't think he can parkour down the wall because he has no fingers and toes, and the hand holds are negative space in the castle wall not positive space into the next block over... though there is that ledge. So maybe he could go across but not down. I don't think there is water at the bottom of the cliff, so he can't just jump without taking fatal fall damage - and if he respawns he'll respawn inside the Castle, since Dracula gave him a bed. But probably this is Hardcore anyway.

I think Dracula can very easily remove his ability to both mine and craft. He probably burns his pickaxes in front if him like the big jerk he is. I don't see any way out of this unless Dracula gives him o-

WAIT HANG ON. If he makes it along the ledge and into Dracula's room and then down into the ruined chapel - there are pickaxes there. And, famously, a shovel! Steve can't fit all 50 of Dracula's dirt blocks in his inventory ....unless they stack. Do they stack?? Steve takes Dracula's dirt and his boxes and then mines his way straight out throug the castle... or even uses the dirt to make himself a sort of a staircase out through the window. Yeah he can do it with just the shovel actually.

So yeah, IF Steve can parkour down through Dracula's window he can get the shovel and a whole stack of dirt and escape. And I think he probably can.

This is another case where Dracula can definitely just kill him if he wants to... but why? I honestly don't have a good read on hiw Dracula feels about Minecraft Steve. There's no reason not to kill him but there's no reason to kill him either. You know? And the Girlies can drink him as much as they like but so long as Dracula keeps feeding him his hearts go right back up, so why not?

I was gonna give this one a haed no, but then I remembered the shovel, so I have to reverse myself: Minecraft Steve can survive Castle Dracula

"Do you require assistance?" Phantom perked up at the mans voice. Red Robin was the guy multiple ghosts had recommended to him even though he was still alive. Okay, so they kinda did it in a half joking manner, but Phantom was desperate!

The nine year old came out from the shadows and could immediately feel the man in front of him cataloging everything about his appearance. Wierd. But he had dealt with Weirder. Besides, he was glowing, so he guessed the human had a right to be curious. "I heard you were really good with machines."

Red Robin looked somewhat tense, like he was ready to fight if need be. Why does everyone wanna fight him? He's nine!

Phantom quickly brought out a little silver sphere with an OwO face from his bag and quickly began speaking, "This is my friend Livvi, she started acting wierd a while back and I haven't been able to fix her."

To his credit, Red didn't attack him. He just looked gobsmacked. "You came out to Gotham, in the middle of the night and tracked down a vigilante to ask for tech support?"

"Livvi is different!" He fumed, "She's my friend!"

A sigh escaped from the mans lips and Phantom looked up to see him pinching the bridge of his nose, "Okay, you're probably not going to go away until I fix her. Just promise me you'll try to be safer."

Phantom hummed as if contemplating, "I'll try."

With that, the vigilante took Livvi from him and began working on her from the blanket Phantom had laid out. Red Robin began to look more and more curious about Livvi as he worked on her. He even took out one of Livvis ectoplasm powerbanks to examine it more thoroughly. "Can you explain to me what problems she's been having?"

The kid bit his lower lip, clearly worried about the little robot, "Shes having trouble maintaining flight and producing shields. Her speech sometimes comes out glitch or warped despite me not finding anything wrong with her voice box or programming. A few times she's just turned off mid flight and dropped."

The man looked thoughtful for a few seconds before asking, "Have you ever heard of the Lazarus Pit?"

"I've heard of Lazarus, but I don't know what it is. I've only ever heard of it in passing. Why?" The ghost was genuinely confused by the change in topic

"Can I text a friend about this?"

"I don't see why not. The more help Livvi gets the faster she'll get better right?" The bird wasted no time activating his coms and whispering into it telling some unknown people about "an unknown glowing meta child with futuristic tech that runs on Lazarus water"

Within the next ten minutes a guy dressed as a bat landed on the rooftop alongside a boy around his age dressed like a trafic light and scowling as if he had just been told that he was grounded from ever having ice cream again. The big goth dude introduced himself as batman and offered him a lollipop. "I'm not supposed to take candy from strangers." Phantom said seriously, "Unless its Halloween."

Batman...well he didn't smile exactly but he didn't seem angry. "Do you know where you're parents are?"

"No. But thats okay. They don't like me."

Batman maintained a cool pokerface, "why don't they like you?"

"I don't remember. I think I knew when I was older-"

"Older?" The other boy interrupted, "Is this not your true age?"

Phantom pouted at him, any hopes he had of making a friend he didn't construct himself were flung out the window, "Yeah, but I don't remember it. Appearently I ate a time god and lost six-ish years from absorbing his powers."

There was a beat silence, then: "You ate a time god?!" Red Robin looked horrifed

"In my defense, I have no memory of what was happening at the time. All I know is that the place i used to live is in ruins and I'm dead."

Maddie, Danny and Jazz Slade Jazz x Dick

After Danny turned Phantom, Maddie and Jack saw him out of the portal. They just thought he had awoken his metagene, and Maddie left to call her father. That was why Deathstroke was in Amity Park. And started to train Danny. Making sure the boy is ready for it and doesn't hurt the rest. But imagine his confusion as Slade learned he somehow became a hero of Amity Park. Yes, he was a hero, and Respawn was not happy to be called a sidekick.

The years went by, and Jazz returned from Gotham and wanted to show her family her boyfriend. And that was how Dick Grayson met Deathstroke at the dinner table and learned he was a hero!

a few weeks later in Gotham. Dick to his family as Jazz and her family wanted to visit Gotham, and the doorbell rang: "Somehow I became Slade's grandson-in-law. So he will be part of the family dinner. Don't be surprised."

What happened to Dark Meta during Meta's soul corruption, if it would even affect him

anon I'm taking this opportunity to info dump about mirror world counterparts to set up the context so thank you so much for the ask

Counterparts are brought to life from the Dimensional Mirror! Gazing into the mirror itself isn't a requirement, but for a reflection to be created, the one they are reflecting must be alive at that specific time. If a reflection's original host dies, the reflection will still live on, but they can no longer respawn if they are shattered.

A counterpart can share the same abilities as their original host, such as physical strength or magical abilities, but their defenses will always be notably weaker. They can take hits, but landing a mortal wound or causing a serious affliction may cause them to shatter like a mirror. The broken shards will appear to evaporate, and after sometime the counterpart will reform and re-emerge from the Dimensional Mirror, so long as the original host is alive. This is when counterparts can develop the reflection of any scars their original versions currently have (sort of like getting a texture update)

The original hosts will reflect scars onto their counterparts, but any permanent scars that mirror counterparts have won't show up on the originals! It's a one way effect. Whatever happens to Dameta will have no effect on MK. However, what happens to MK can occasionally have a muted effect on Dameta.

Mirror counterparts are fairly separate from their original hosts, as the Dimensional Mirror brought them to life as their own beings. Technically speaking, they have souls, but those too are more fragile than the originals they're based on, and are incapable of corrupting (they'd shatter into mirror shards before reaching that point).

Counterparts function independently from their original hosts (even if said original dies, as previously mentioned) and while scars will show up, the pain that might've come with them is entirely absent for reflections.

However, wounds inflicted via powerful magic can sometimes cross this boundary. Mir Nonsurat has had his fair share of strange dreams ever since he developed his original counterpart's scars, and Dameta probably had a few weirdly vague feelings of serenity when Meta Knight was under effect of the Heart Spear.

As for MK's soul corruption? It was likely something like this:

TotK DLC idea!

The screen is black. You don’t hear anything for a long time. Then, faintly, in the distance, you can hear it.

Link. Link. Open your eyes.

While the line echoes familiarity, the voice does not.

Or. Well. It does. Because while it isn’t Zelda, it’s a familiar man’s voice speaking gently, so gently you almost don’t recognize it because there’s no way he ever spoke like this in the main game.

But he is now. And instead of a golden light being the first image you see before the screen shows Link awakening… you see gloom floating in the air. The image cuts to a Hylian waking up who… doesn’t look like Link from TotK?? He’s different, still small in stature, with slightly tanner skin, platinum light blonde hair, and red eyes. But… something’s wrong with his forehead. There’s a weird line on it.

This new character you apparently are gonna be playing in the DLC blearily blinks his eyes open, clearly groggy and too weak to really move. But then that line on his forehead moves a hair, it splits apart, and you realize it’s a freaking eye, red and yellow and it’s like the ones on gloom hands and oh gosh what the hell is it doing on his forehead—

Link realizes something is off and his eyes blow wide, his hands reach for his forehead and he screams in agony and terror, only for someone to scoop him into a hug to soothe him.

And suddenly you realize why that voice was eerily familiar.

It’s Ganondorf. He resurrected you from the era of the Imprisoning War. You, who have a history with him and his family. You, who he wants to protect, who he views as his kid, who he calls a prince and says he’ll keep you safe by controlling your body with his dark magic if he has to.

Welcome to Tears of the Kingdom: Hero’s Shadow.

You have to play a long gone Hero who was resurrected. Ganondorf, who is still recovering his strength in preparation for killing the current Hero, tasks you with finding your betrothed, his daughter, as well as his wife. They’re buried somewhere in the Depths like you were. He wants you to find their burial sites so he can use his secret stone to resurrect them like he did you, and control them as well. Which is doubly bad when you realize his wife was the original Sage of Lightning. He gives you free reign to wander once you go through a tutorial (he tests you to see if you’ve recovered enough strength), because he knows you love wandering and collecting things. Your own personal objective, however, is trying to help Hyrule from the Depths, to break free from Ganondorf’s control, because Link would rather set himself on fire than let Ganondorf resurrect and control the love of his life and his mother-in-law. Your best hope is to find shards of the shattered Master Sword to try and stab the eye on Dark Link’s forehead and break the control Ganondorf has on you. Until you can, though, the monsters are your allies, you can teleport across the Depths by manifesting out of the gloom created by gloom hands (just like what Phantom Ganon does), and the world below is your oyster. If you get too close to sword shards when gloom hands are nearby, Ganondorf can see your attempt and immediately takes control of your body, and no matter what button you press Link just walks back to Ganondorf’s location and stays there until you get a chance to try again.

You start with three hearts, all empty looking like when gloom hurts you, and if you get injured they just shatter. Whenever they all shatter, you respawn at Ganondorf’s location because his gloom hands came and rescued you from dying. The only way you can get more hearts is by collecting poes and offering them to the statues in the Depths. You can communicate with the spirits of soldiers, who may give you combat tips or info about the area. If you gain enough of Ganondorf’s trust, he’ll let you command monsters, and he might even let you wander the Surface (under his supervision) during a blood moon.

You learn of Link’s and Ganondorf’s history through discovering ancient relics/texts that trigger memories. This connection between you and Ganondorf stems back to time before the war, well over ten thousand years ago. Link was engaged to Ganondorf’s daughter, but during the Imprisoning War the family fought against the demon king. Ganondorf did love his family, but he loved power more. Link sacrificed himself, letting himself get mortally wounded to save Rauru from a killing blow. Gan held him as he died, and it allowed Link to both beg him to stop and stab him in the heart with a light shard. The shard didn’t kill him, but it was what Rauru connected with when he hit him in the chest, allowing him to seal Ganondorf away. Ganondorf still wants the world, but his love for his family is still present, though now twisted, so he thinks he can control Link and everyone else with his dark magic in order to keep them safe and in line. Once the threat of the current Hero is eliminated, the world will be his, and his family will be safe. As such, he treats you, Link, the player, like a stubborn child, reeling you in, but does so in a horrific way, torturing Link by controlling him.

You have to break free of this and stop him, and the only hope you have is the distant call of a sword spirit…

Phil said his wings were feeling better, but that he didn't think it would last.

Headcanon: It's the rapid respawning. Phil's relationship with Death makes him particularly reluctant to undergo meaningless deaths, even when they aren't obviously detrimental. But on Egg Island, the disasters and the violence and the madness have suddenly led to him dying and respawning dozens of times.

Respawns hold a very specific healing power, but with so many in such quick succession, the power can go a bit... off. Tattoos warp. Lasting scars disappear for one life but return in the next. And, apparently, clipped wings can forget they've been clipped. Phil can feel the radiation eating at the feathers that shouldn't exist. He knows that they aren't really healed; they're just phantom limbs that are temporarily confused. But for now, he can fly!

Danny’s mother died at birth in the LoA. Is used as a political double for Damian since they where born the same day. Raised a brother but always knowing he’s not a Al Ghul. He knowingly enters a trap so Damian can defeat his opponent. He believes Damian would get him afterwards, Damian tried but is dragged away because their isn’t time. Last thing Danny sees is Damian’s back. Danny survived but leaves the LoA. Damian question if the mission was worth it, if the LoA was worth it. (Meeting years later?)

Danny's left for dead but escapes after lying in a pool of his own blood for days as everyone (including the bad guys leave). When he finally staggers to his feet, some of his skin is left behind on the floor where it was glued down by dried blood. He runs.

Now, I have seen a fair few LoA!Danny fics where his name is Danyal. But if he's betrayed his position as Damian's double, he'd change his name a lot more than just anglicize it. So, maybe his birth name is Sebastian instead, it means 'revered' and he could have been given it as a nod to the honour of his role and the fact that he's allowed to spend so much time with the Al Ghul's in person. He changes it to Daniel himself.

Little Danny - who would be injured if Damian was so that their scars would always match - having a panic attack as he stitched himself up and knowing it would deeply scar. Little Danny who had lived as another person's shadow learning his own wants for the first time.

Danny is then adopted by the Fenton's after they see him fight. They sort of have a plan where after ghosts are proved to be real, they can used the skills of this clearly trained child to fight them. So, his training is maintained and added to over the years.

Better trained Phantom -> faster fights -> less property damage -> better PR -> GIW doesn't form as fast as in canon.

The angst option here is for Danny to be in Gotham to visit Jazz (if she's there for college or as a psychologist at Arkham). Damian recognises him and approaches, overjoyed that his first adopted brother has survived.

Danny has no idea that Damian shunned the league not long after his own death. He never really followed news that wasn't directly relevant to him, especially since becoming a ghost vigilante.

All Danny sees is Damian running full-tilt at him and he attacks to delay Damian and then bolts, I reckon.

The issue here, is that it isn't the first time Damian has been attacked by an artificially aged clone. There was The Fatherless and most recently: Respawn.

To make doubles of him is one thing, but to make doubles of Sebastian? The sweet boy who would be lashed after Damian despite breaking no rules? The one who died so Damian could prove himself in an incident he'd nearly blocked out all the details of for years due to trauma.

Damian is going to call his mother, roast her to filth, then he and his real family are going hunting.
