BL Recs - Office Romance

Anyone else loves a hot inappropriate office romance? 🌝 I’ve been exploring this genre in manga/manhwa for a while and have found so many gems! This trope usually walks hand in hand with light humour, flirty banter, enemies to lovers and cute slice-of-life (not to mention the sexy a/b/o dynamics!) which I absolutely love. These are all light and fun comfort reads, perfect choices as a palate cleanser between heavier, angsty stories. Here are some personal favourites - I hope you enjoy them!

Ameiro Paradox by Natsume Isaku

A change in the stakeout team throws Onoe, reporter for a weekly magazine, together with his contemporary, Kaburagi, a photographer. Onoe secretly considers Kaburagi his rival, and Kaburagi's haphazard way of doing things goes against Onoe's strong sense of ethics--there's nothing but conflict between them. But, in joint pursuit of a scandal, the two of them begin to care about each other...?

Beta Off Not Dating by Mintran, Saena, Doojja

Juhyeok is a clueless beta who is thrust into the messy world of alpha-omega dynamics when he leaves his wholesome beta college to work at a more diverse company. There, a full-on fistfight and loud makeup. Repulsed by the pheromones that trump common sense in this crazy environment, Juhyeok swears himself off dating until he saves up enough money to move to a faraway haven for betas.

THE LOVERS 1994 ENGLISH SUBTITLES SRT MOVIE

The shrink is also having a sexual relationship with someone young enough to be his daughter and the film goes like this…. However, their short love affair ends in disaster. There, she falls in love with a poor, but industrious young man. During the Eastern Jin Dynasty, parents dress a pretty girl like a boy, so she may be educated in a local boarding school. This involves Bruce Willis playing a shrink whose patients are getting bumped off one by one. With Nicky Wu, Charlie Yeung, Carrie Ng, Elvis Tsui. Whether it’s Bruce Willis’s hairpiece or the overblown pool sex scene (although Paul Verhoeven topped that a year later in SHOWGIRLS), COLOR OF NIGHT is frequently amusing. It’s one of those films you can put into the so-bad-it’s-good category of entertainment, in that it’s filled with unintentional laughs and funny scenes that showcase some OTT acting from most of the cast.

Still, despite the paucity of imagination and the silliness of the script, watching this movie turns out to be quite a lot of fun. He recalls initially being in love with Su-in, but she rejects him. He shares his memories with his friend Cheol-hyeon (Park Young-woo). The most annoying thing about the production is that the plot hinges on a crucial twist that will be obvious to even the most shortsighted viewer, right from the outset, but we’re asked to suspend our disbelief until the very end before said twist is revealed. Lee Ji-hwan (Cha Tae-hyun) receives photographs in the mail that reminds him of how he met two girls, Shim Su-in (Son Ye-jin) and Kim Gyeong-heui (Lee Eun-ju), one summer five years ago. COLOR OF NIGHT is a dated, cheesy, film, a ’90s misfire that attempted to ride the wave of psycho-sexual thrillers in the wake of FATAL ATTRACTION and BASIC INSTINCT and failed from the outset.

Intensive Interview - Modern History of Choi Seo-myon, a Powerful Figure Behind the Scenes Between Korea and Japan

According to Choi Seo-myon, in 1956, although Kim Dae-jung was running an oratory academy at the time, he frequently visited the general secretary office of the Catholic Archdiocese of Seoul, on the fourth floor of the Kyunghyang Newspaper office building with Kim Sang-hyun. Then one day, Kim Dae-jung asked Choi, "I want to become a Catholic, so could you introduce me to a priest?" For him, Choi introduced the famed priest, Yun Hyung-jung, who taught Catholic doctrines to Choi Nam-sun, Kim Seong-soo, and Oh Hwa-young. Under Father Yun's guidance, Kim Dae-jung studied doctrines without missing a day. Father Yun told Choi, "The person you sent us is a bright student. He always asks us pointed questions……"

On July 2, 1956, Kim Dae-jung was baptized. To help him, Choi asked Chang Myon to be Kim Dae-jung's godfather. At the time Dr Chang was the vice president of the Republic of Korea and the member of the supreme council of Democratic Party. That day, at Myeongdong Cathedral, Kim Dae-jung was baptized in attendance of Archbishop Roh Ki-nam of the Archdiocese of Seoul under the leadership of Father Kim Cheol-gyu. His baptismal name was Thomas More. After taking the photograph, Kim Dae-jung wrote "Thomas Kim Dae-jung" on the back of a photo and gave it to Choi as a thank-you gift.

"What do you want to be?" Father Yun asked the man who had just been baptized. Kim Dae-jung replied, "I want to be a politician." Upon hearing this, Father Yun advised Choi Seo-myon, "You should formally introduce Kim Dae-jung to Dr Chang Myon." Soon Choi formally introduced Chang Myon to Kim Dae-jung in the Kyunghyang Newspaper advisory room in Sogong-dong, Seoul.

Reporter: "What did Dr Chang Myon tell you about this at the time?"

Choi Seo-myon: "Dr Chang thanked me. He and Archbishop Roh Ki-nam used to say that the biggest concern of Catholicism is the human resources shortage. We always had regrets that the representative of Catholicism could not participate in the 1919 March 1st Movement. We welcomed Lee Hong-gyu and Kim Dae-jung in the sense of cultivating people."

At the time, Choi was being encouraged to enter politics by many people such as Archbishop Roh, Dr Chang Myon, and the head of Kyunghyang Newspaper, Han Chang-woo. But Choi refused all. He was concerned that his entry into politics would trouble Dr Chang because of his past involvement in the assassination case of Chang Deok-soo.

He told Chang, "I have no intention of entering politics. Instead, I hope you love Mr. Kim as much as you think of me." With his earnest request, Dr Chang and Archbishop Roh always gave special treatment to Kim Dae-jung. Choi said that Kim Dae-jung could not have become the standing committee member or the head of the propaganda department of Democratic Party overnight without the two people.
