Have any of you heard of phytic acid?
I've been doing some reading and apparently its prominent on a lot of seeds, nuts, legumes, grains. It's a natural substance that should be on these plants but it hinders our bodies ability to absorb nutrients from these said foods. Soaking nuts and seeds before ingesting is suppose to help remove it so our body can better absorb these nutrients.
I still have a lot of research to do on this but if any of you have info on it I'd love to hear more!! Feel free to comment on this or dm me😊

Drinking just two glasses of soy milk daily can significantly alter a woman’s menstrual cycle. 2. Soy has been found to increase the body’s need for vitamin B12 and vitamin D. 3. Soybeans also contain #haemagglutinin, a clot-promoting substance that causes your red blood cells to clump. 4. 99% of soy is #geneticallymodified. It contains one of the highest contamination by #pesticides of any of our #foods. 5. Soybeans and soy products contain high levels of #phyticacid, which inhibits assimilation of #calcium, #magnesium, #copper, #iron, and #zinc. 6. Soy foods contain high levels of toxic #aluminum, which negatively effects the nervous system the kidneys and has been linked to the onset of #Alzheimers. 7. Soy contains a compound resembling vitamin B12 that cannot be processed by your body. Thus, soy foods can contribute to #B12deficiency. 8. ~ ~~~ Nuts are generally a great source of good fats, protein, fiber, including rich a host of nutritional benefits. ~~~ Eating a handful of nuts can be extremely beneficial to balance and maintain a healthy lifestyle. ~~~ Why soak nuts? ~~~ By soaking, you are breaking down the phytic acid so it can be absorbed properly. Nuts also have high amounts of enzymes inhibitors. Nuts are hard to digest. Soaking nuts can neutralize the enzymes allowing for proper digestion. ~~~ Activated nuts have been soaked in water for a period of time, which starts off the germination or sprouting process, then dehydrated at a low temperature. Soaking increases the nutrient value of the nuts along with breaking down the problematic compounds that help enhance their digestibility. . . . . #nuts #hazelnuts #mixednuts #chestnuts #pecannuts #macadamianuts #brazilnuts #pinenuts #cashewnuts #walnuts #healthtips #holisticproducts #holisticwellness #holisticlife #holistichealth #holisticnutrition #nutritiontips #nutrition #nutritionfacts #phyticacid #enzymes #inhibitors #sprouting #digestion #digestivesystem #goodfats #protein #dietaryfiber #healthygut #healthyheart (at London, United Kingdom) https://www.instagram.com/p/B24JPuzJeLr/?igshid=1ce7cfvk8gl6z

🐚 P H Y T I C • M A S K 🐚 . This month I had the opportunity to try the new #PhyticAcid exfoliating mask from @GeorgetteKlinger through my collaboration with @JoinPalm ✨ . I absolutely love that this mask comes in a pump bottle, as mud masks can get extremely messy! I was able to efficiently apply a nice even layer to my face that dried quickly and left my skin feeling baby-soft and ready for moisturizer! 💕 I already made a list of products that I want to try from the brand since I loved this one so much, so this definitely won’t be the last #GeorgetteKlinger you see on my page. . Phytic acid is a small molecule found in seeds like grains, beans, and nuts that binds (chelates) certain essential minerals—particularly calcium, iron, magnesium, and zinc—and reduces their absorption from food. This applies to a single meal, not overall nutrient absorption throughout the day. In other words, phytic acid reduces mineral absorption during the meal but doesn't have any effect on subsequent meals. However, when you eat different types of food that contains high phytic acid with most of your meals, mineral deficiencies may develop over time. VEGANS (STRICT VEGETARIANS) should really be concerned about the effects of this. Next in the series: How can I reduce the anti-nutrient effects of phytic acid in the food? <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> #phyticacid #antinutrient #calciumdefficiency #irondefficiency #magnesiumdefficiency #zincdefficiency #mineraldefficiency #vegan #vegetarian #vegandiet #vegetariandiet #plantbased #whatveganseat #whatvegetarianseat #veganhealth #vegetarianhealth #veganism #veganlife #veganeats #vegetarianism #vegetarianlife #vegetarianeats #vegannutrition #vegetariannutrition #veganforlife #plantbaseddiet #veganlove #vegetarianlove #vegansofig #vegetariansofig https://www.instagram.com/p/B0tB5J8ISSf/?igshid=kzv8qfb6iv1w

Grains and legumes have been consumed for many years, but it wasn’t until the past 50+ years that we stopped traditionally preparing grains by soaking them. . Traditionally grains were soaked in water with something acidic such as lemon juice, yogurt, or apple cider vinegar. This process would break down the anti-nutrients in the grain and release its minerals making them able to nourish our bodies and make the grains digestible. . Phytic acid is one of the anti-nutrients in grains that make it difficult to consume grains. It works by binding to the minerals (such as calcium, iron, phosphorus, magnesium, copper and zinc) in the grain and preventing them from being absorbed in the digestive tract. . Nowadays, we have a diet high in grains but these grains are not benefiting our bodies if we can’t get the proper nutrients from them. This means we become deficient in these minerals leading to conditions such as bone loss, digestive disorders, allergies and mental illnesses. . Phytic acid not only grabs on to important minerals, but also inhibits enzymes that we need to digest our food. . Soaking our grains not only revives tradition but increases our ability to digest these foods, increases our mineral intake and prevents deficiencies leading to disease. . To read more about soaking grains click the link in my bio! . Do you soak your nuts? Lol Nuts and seeds contain anti-nutrients called phytates which prevent absorption of certain minerals during digestion. If you soak the nuts in water overnight, it will dissipate a lot of the phytates and allow better absorption . Soak them, empty the water, rinse, dry, and mix in maple syrup and sea salt for a real treat. Enjoy! #soakyournuts #nuts #seeds #phytates #phyticacid #nutrition #instahealth #instanutrition #almonds #instagood #health #healthy #healthyfood

What's in your lunch box today? 🍴 • • • Black rice with coconut and beef and broccoli stir fry in mine. • We eat black rice because it's so high in #antioxidants, #protein and #iron compared to other rice. But i have recently been doing some #SIBO research for a friend and i might test jasmine rice, which is let nutrient dense but supposedly far easier to #digest. Remember to soak your rice in an acidic medium for at least 24hours to at least partially reduce #antinutrients like #phyticacid. • • • While grains are definitely not always the most #nutritious choice, I think sometimes, particularly due to things like #budget, we have to make compromises. And so I try to limit grains, prepare them using #traditional methods, and choose them wisely. At the moment my grains of choice #rice, #rye (high in enzymes that break down some anitnutrients) and #buckwheat. What are yours? • • • As always it's all about #balance (at London, United Kingdom)
