Due to a lot of feedback on the nature of this blog, and how the meme format can come across as insensitive and shameless, I'm considering switching to a news only post format, without the use of the destiel meme. I greatly enjoy sharing information about current events, and would like to continue doing so in some way.

So I am making this poll to ask everyone their opinion on the way I do things, and for suggestions to improve my content.

This is important to tell people about to dispel some rumors. Harris only dated Willie Brown AFTER he separated from his wife and BEFORE he was the mayor. This means that she probably wasn’t just doing it for money or a promotion or anything like that.

I think I now get what I was missing in Enlightened Terminally Online Leftist Discourse, with help from this post. (I'm leaving out a good bit in the chain about American education because that part's really not my problem, but it is interesting)

People have decided their politics are an identity and not an ideology. That's why they think antisemitism is just opt-in! If they don't identify as antisemitic, if they don't look at their arm and see a red band with a swastika on it, then they can't be The Bad Guys. They're safe! The reason a lot of Jews don't talk to them anymore is irrelevant, and I bet those guys are (again! as an identity that defines who they are as a person, in every facet!) Zionists anyway so who cares. There's no reason to talk to them, or regard them as human, they aren't Part Of Us, The Good Guys. While there, why ever study what Zionism is or what it means to Jews? You don't need to do any research, just sharing emotional social media posts that tell you what to feel and conform with your Good Identity is good enough. Those guys definitely know what's up. If they tell you someone is Necessarily Bad, that's just the way it is - and it conforms with your identity so it feels good.

If Jewish concerns are only because of The Bad Guys - (Only ever The Dastardly White Supremacists, nobody else, right?) Then surely you, certified Good Person that you are, have no obligation to care about them more than anything else. Just punch Nazis and move on, right? It's all good! And listen to marginalized people. As long as their opinions conform with your identity. Otherwise they must be... not marginalized, actually. Not worthy of protection, actually.

And again, and I can't stress this enough, people legitimately think antisemitism and pervasive anti-Jewish sentiment, well-hidden behind popular causes, started and stopped with the holocaust. It happened once, it basically happened for no reason, and it was done solely by Bad Guys holding The Bad Opinions. You, since you don't identify as bad, can't be part of the same problem. Surely people will know that? That you're necessarily good, that their worries are unfounded? The Jews in your life and your circles definitely know you mean fascism specifically when you talk about Zionism... right? The decades of popular and arbitrary use of "Zionist" as a a more publicly acceptable replacement for "Jew I want to die but be righteous about it" don't factor in... right? A social media post told me it's fine. Or someone who says they're a Jew says it's fine. So my identity is secure, surely.

The fact you identify as anti-racist and antifascist is well and good. It is! But unlike other identities, where deciding to identify as such is the only validation required - this one requires actual work. Listening to other humans, even if you decided they don't share your identity, should not be difficult to you. If your reaction to Jews celebrating their cool holiday that has doughnuts and candles and songs, or how unsafe they feel right now, is to immediately talk about how Some Jews Are Good But Some Are Bad And We Must Always Watch Out And Exclude And Condemn The Bad Ones (they hide in plain sight don't you know), you aren't actually furthering any agenda - except, you know, the anti-Jewish agenda. You aren't gaining allies or changing anyone's mind for the better. It doesn't matter if this doesn't conform with your identity! You might still do it anyway! Anybody can!

And it will be with the best of intentions. That's how it works.

“Saying DID is trauma based will make DID systems dig for trauma.”

At 19 years old, I remembered my system. We heard about DID in school, and we realized, “oh my god. That’s us.”

We panicked. Our brain tried to latch onto anything and everything to make us feel safe — and the only way for us to be safe, based on my life experiences, was if I didn’t have DID. DID was bad. It was a mental disorder, it was dangerous, I was dangerous if I had it.

I started looking into it, and I found the All Inclusive Communities, the radinclus, the pro-endos who supported every identity. And they told me “🥰 Oh, don’t be scared. It’s not scary. You don’t need trauma to have DID.”

I was so relieved. I leaned into my systemhood, because I was so happy to know it would be okay. I wasn’t dangerous, I didn’t have trauma like those other dangerous people.

Every weekend, I hid my systemhood from my abusive parents as they caused me to dissociate and split further and further, while I thought all was okay. I crashed my car while purposefully dissociating to handle the stress of going to these people while sleep deprived. I allowed myself to be screamed at, to have things thrown at me, to be horrifically emotionally neglected as I always had been, even while the Endogenic systems around me said the same thing anti-endos did: “Your mom yelling at you isn’t traumatic.”

The people around me fought hard to get me to leave. They fought so incredibly hard for me to realize I was in active danger, and I was hurting, and they were traumatizing me. I’m grateful for them, and for the parts of my system who fought back against those of us who denied it all.

This year, at age 26, I finally managed to cut off my parents. And to this day, I still have to convince myself that it is trauma that I went through.

In an alternate universe somewhere, I find a CDD community first. I ask about the possibility of me having this rare disorder. They tell me what I’ve seen said in every CDD-exclusive server I’ve joined that believes trauma is the only cause of DID.

“DID is a childhood-trauma based disorder. It also comes along with amnesia, though, so it’s possible you don’t remember the trauma you went through — or you could be downplaying what you experience, because that’s what feels safe. Our advice is to not go digging, because that’s more dangerous for you right now.”

In that alternate universe, I become knowledgeable about trauma and trauma responses before I’m 22, living with my abusers 24/7. I understand by the time that I graduate that my parents are abusive. I don’t tell my partner, “no, not yet, I can’t move in yet, I need money and I can handle my parents for a year or two, it’s not that bad.”

In that alternate universe, I don’t need to thank the fact that I got Covid, because it meant I needed to move out months earlier than expected, “to keep my family safe.”

I wish I lived there, sometimes. But at least I’m able to share my experiences here.

Hey everyone. This isn't like my usual post but my good friend's mom is an escaped murderer. She is on the run and while she is off running around she's trying really hard to slander my friend. If you could just take one second out of your day to report this woman it would do a lot of good for my friend. Alisha Clark murdered her mother, her baby daddy, and is now trying get away with it all. She is homophobic, racist, ableist, transphobic, an abuser, and very dangerous.

about pencils and research

I'm that kind of person who doesn't use TikTok (it feels kind of overwhelming) and because I have a shit attention span and am addicted to short form content, I use YouTube Shorts. And all the time, I see these jokes about little details in our lives. for example, one time i saw this video joking about why we have to use number two pencils with scantrons- something that was about the "pleasure" or "pain" it gave the scantron. I know these are jokes about little mysteries in our world, and usually I find them to be hilarious, but it's not really, because why are you making (bad) assumptions when you have A WAY TO FIGURE OUT THE TRUTH-

Idk why I care so much, but the fact that they dont even seem to try to want to know the truth makes me mad. And maybe I care because I don't like false information, and I did this essay about the history of pencils a while ago, and it's actually kind of interesting? I'm sure a lot of artists know things about this also.

There's this whole scale of types of pencils, from 9H, 8H...H, HB, B, 2B, 3B... all the way to 9B, I think? H stands for hard, measuring the hardness of the lead, and B stands for black, basically showing how intensely black it is (I think). More Bs, more soft lead, more Hs, more grey and more stiff. H, HB, and B are the most common types, and are called #1 pencils (H lead), #2 pencils (HB lead), and #3 pencils (B lead. The #1, #2, and #3 are LITERALLY RANKING HOW HARD THE LEAD IS. Too hard, not dark enough for the scantron, too black and soft, too smudgy. HB is the "goldilocks" of pencils, and therefore the standard pencil hardness. #2 pencils haven't lost a race to the top of a mountain thousands of years ago, they aren't 2nd place in giving a scantron sexual pleasure (like wtf dude, I know it's a joke but what??), it's basically a name, in the same way that F(n) in algebra is like a name.

I think the fact that through the internet, despite literally having the world at our fingertips, we have either begun stalling our curiosity of learning, or making jokes for views has become more important then learning this really interesting thing about an item you have on your desk, means something, but I don't know what yet.

In the case you missed it. In United States Politics, the Biden Administration (current government) has updated Title IX to reword the regulations to include the line "sexual orientation, gender identity, and sex characteristics." in the "Protections against sex-based harassment and discrimination." section.

Meaning, the same protections afforded to cisgender children in schools against discrimination are now to be afforded to transgender and intersex children.

These protections were previously added by the Obama administration, then revoked by the Trump Administration.

So why is this different?

How it was done. The previous protections afforded to transgender students a part of the federally funded public school programs were done by a guidance document release by the federal government. These guidance documents can be revoked, or edited by subsequent administrations. The Biden Administration has updated the regulations on how the law can be enforced meaning it will be much harder to repeal those restrictions by subsequent administrations. Not impossible, just much harder. This is to take effect August 1st, 2024. Right at the start of the new school year.

So way to go USA. After years of attacking trans and intersex kids on every possible angle, this is a step in the right direction.

Edit: I made an error in my interpretation ...

.. and was spreading a bit of unintentional misinformation. This isn't a law change, it's a change in the regulations of how Title IX can be enforced. The changes are stronger than a guidance document but not as strong as a law change that would need to pass through congress to be officially changed. Censorship surrounding topics of Palestine is nothing new - but in the last few months there has been an alarming increase in censorship, where artists have their exhibitions shut down, universities are setting up barriers to knowledge about Palestine, highly unserious articles with very serious accusations about academics are popping up, ... Now two lectures on Palestine were canceled, and another scholar was just uninvited for what he posted on his social media (pro-Palestinian content). A previous protest letter from the academic community was ignored by the University, and a recent sit-in there was met with an unnecessarily high number of police who intimidated the small group of protesters. Why/How does the University of Vienna do this? Basically, any public criticism of the Israeli government is misconstrued as antisemitism. Then, the University disinvites the academics in question and cancels lectures, or forces lecturers to "adjust" their content. Scholars are being muzzled. The University doesn't want its students to learn about various perspectives on Palestine. Mind you, this is a public institution we're talking about.

The petition is intended to show the University that people disapprove of these practices. The argument of "safety" is brought up all the time, but at the same time, the University gladly erects barriers between their students and the valuable knowledge that would foster critical thinking and understanding. Palestinians are directly affected by this deadly apathy, and Muslim and Jewish people everywhere suffer from heightened antisemitism and islamophobia fueled by misinformation and myths. And at the end of the day, censorship is nothing but bad academic practice. It is an attempt to shape the minds of students by making information harder to access and to exclude scholars who talk about/are from Palestine. It's discrimination against Palestinians and it's shameless instrumentalization of Jewish trauma.

Anybody who is concerned can sign. Please share widely with any and all communities! The petition should go international! Every signature counts.

Hey man, I could use a few talking points to help convince a friend that Musk is horrible. I'm reading 'Think Again' by Adam Grant (good read btws) and he says to help convince people to come to your viewpoint that it can be good to have 2 or 3 strong points instead of 10 mixed points. The counter argument I get from people about Musk being good is that he did spacex and tesla, and without him we'd be decades behind. Maybe, but I don't have good ammo. Well, listen, the fascism, the transphobia, the chaos, and the unwavering support for autocrats all over the planet really ought to be enough to outweigh anything else, if you ask me. It sounds like you know some people who got excited about the companies he threw money at, and they are having a tough time updating their feelings due to current events. Or maybe they share his values and don't want to admit that.

But I'll try to offer some simple facts.

He did not do engineering with Tesla or SpaceX or even PayPal. He is a fraud. He walked into these existing businesses, where people had done actual work and engineering, threw some of his Apartheid money at them, and took credit for their work. He claims, over and over again, to be a founder of these companies, and that's just straight up a lie that is easily disproved.

He literally did nothing except throw money at people and take credit for their work. Look at every Tesla up to the (chokes back laughter) Cybertruck. Those Teslas look like cars, because they were designed by engineers. Look at the Cybertruck. When you stop laughing at what a joke it is, know this: that's what happens when Elon Musk is in charge. It's like a ten year-old with some crayons drew it on a menu at Denny's.

All of the things his weird fans claim he made possible, are things that would have happened, and were in the process of happening, without him. He literally did nothing to advance the technologies or engineering. In fact, SpaceX whistleblowers have told reporters how they had to keep Musk occupied with bullshit, so they could do the real work without him fucking it up all the time with his incompetence.

But even if he were telling the truth, even if the myth were fact, it would not outweigh the damage, the pain, the chaos, and the suffering he has inflicted on millions and millions of people, all over the world with his lies, his spread of misinformation, and his incitement of angry incels.

Also, don't forget, when Ukraine was trying to defend itself, he turned off Starlink access when they could have decisively ended Russia's aggression. A lot of people have suffered and died as a direct consequence of that action, which he took to support his buddy and fellow autocrat, Vladimir Putin.

That's more information than I think your friends will be willing to hear. Studies indicate that people who are heavily invested in the myth of a person will fight hard to hold onto the myth, and reject truth and facts, because it's so jarring to them. Musk has built a cult of personality, and maybe your friends are stuck to it.

I'd gently encourage your friends to consider one key fact: he has lied about his entire origin story, he has lied about his contributions to Tesla and SpaceX. He lies about everything, except when he posts on Twitter like a 12 year-old edgelord, because that's who he is, emotionally.

Finally, and this is for you, specifically: if your friends insist on supporting a fascist, a racist, a misogynist, or a bigot, because they think rockets are cool, maybe it's time to look for new friends.
