Read a comment that said in Lysandre’s theme in X/Y (very beginning), you can hear a gun cock. But in USUM, the gun is replaced with the Ultra Weapon firing.

Something I don’t ever get seen brought up enough is that Lysandre is the descendant of Az. Lysandre has mentioned more than once he’s related to the royalty that once ruled Kalos and is fully aware of the stories and legends tied to that lineage. Rather than take the intended lesson from those tales he instead uses it as an instruction manual. Az made a weapon with terrifying power fueled by the deaths of innocents, caused waves of devastation not only felt in that moment but ripples across hundreds of years afterwards, all to end a war and save the people and Pokémon he cares about and instead he loses even more for his crimes against nature and humanity.

Lysandre is a man who equally cares about the world, he sees the beauty of nature being crushed under industry, he sees the corrupt and the greedy thrive and he hates all of it. In his mind with each passing day the world becomes an uglier place. So he looks to his ancestry, the legendary weapon people only half believe actually existed and thinks “I could use it to change the world for the better” not understanding or maybe not even caring about the pain it caused last time. Just one last moment of ugliness to make the world beautiful.

He surrounds himself with people who practically worship him, his own personal kingdom saying how he’ll kill everyone except the ones he deems worthy of being saved (his followers) so that they can start over an make the world better by following his vision.

Az would follow the actions his his descendant and try to stop them from making the same mistake he made even if he ended up getting captured and his warnings ignored. In the end Lysandre ignored every possible warning from his own family and doubled down. Deciding he’d rather die than continue living in a world he hates. Lysandre is everything King Az could have been if he hadn’t seen the error of his ways and I hope we some continuation of that theme in Legends Z-A. Maybe another Ancestor of Lysandre that bridges the lessons learned from both ends of his family. Someone who begins as Lysandre but his character building ends as Az.

Like in X, team flare is lead by Sycamore who wants to better the world by using xernias to find the ultimate cure.

In Y we have Lysander who wants to better the world by throwing hands with the personalisation of death.

Bonus if X team Flare looks like the normal team flare, whilst Y has an bluish color scheme.
