Everyone generally knows what the Rumpus Cat looks like in traditional productions, right? A bit silly, with funky hair and red eyes.
Meanwhile in Japan, the modern Rumpus Cat looks like this:

The hero we never knew we needed.
(Fukuoka 2021, January 2022; Kenshin Mori as Rumpus Cat, Miki Okudaira as Jellylorum, Eiko Kataoka as Rumpleteazer, Yuki Takahashi as Old Deuteronomy, Taijun Kanemoto as Munkustrap, and Yurie Sato as Bombalurina. Almost fully hidden is Haruaki Tamai as Mungojerrie.)

Rehearsals have started for the production of CATS at Teatro Sistina in Italy, starting 07 December 2022, an officially licensed non-replica from RUG.
The designs are interesting in that they have reference sheets for both the makeup and costume.

My #1 post of 2022
I never uploaded these pictures last year, so I figured now would be a fun time to celebrate Pride Month again. Who better than with my favourite cast of Cats in Vienna?

Get your Tumblr 2022 Year in Review →
#It has been a good year for me and CATS#I luckily got to see the last cast three times and the current cast (only) once#An interesting breakdown here#I would have thought I created more posts but 36% is much higher than the 3% last year!#Plus I reblogged from myself a fair amount which lessens those numbers compared to making a new post altogether#Jellylorum being the top character tag is actually a bit surprising to me#But good for me for pulling that off#Poor Jenny was in enough posts#I had completely forgotten about that top post but that is fun to see#Aside from myself being in the top 5 (I would not thought I counted towards that) the reblogged blogs the list is not surprising at all#And that longest tag! It did not take long after for me to overhaul (as much as you can overhaul on mobile) my appearance to change my icon#To one of the beautiful art pieces of my OC Freya that Jemi created and I would not have it any other way now#Thank you again Jemi for creating those#You are too kind and immensely talented and that is why you were obviously going to be my most reblogged blog#Apologies to anyone who gets tagged and would rather not for a post like this#I guess the main point to all of this is to say thank you to everyone who interacts with this blog and to anyone who makes content#Enjoy your passions and interests and maybe someone else will love it alongside you but at the very least you are making it for yourself#Let me see if I can overtake my reblogged posts with my created posts next year#I think I am well on my way#I hope I offered everyone some fun posts and up to date information on the musical as the (official) unofficial source for everything CATS#(that last one is more a joke but at this point how much of one is the question?)#Rambling over#Thanks for everything everyone#Who knows maybe I will actually have something important to say next year

I... don't think I've ever participated in a ship week before? Or even made serious ship art? But I'm very fond of JE and I really wanted to. Other things I am fond of: TMA vampires! So I made Jon one. If you're wondering how that works... I'd say don't worry about it but I actually have several ideas.
Jon was always a vampire, he's just a weird, more sentient mutant. Elias wants to study him.
All TMA vampires are sentient, they're just also too hungry to care about things like morals or leading a regular life outside of feeding. Jon is different, Elias wants to study him.
Jon is currently in the process of being turned (just because it hasn't been observed in-universe doesn't mean it couldn't have happened). Elias wants to study him (but if he's not careful his fun new science project WILL eat him).
Art under the cut (along with the refs I use for them).
Tumblr media
Also kept in a sketch of vampire Jon that I was proud of. I don't usually work with that angle (or with any kind of poses, which is. hmmmm.) so I'm really happy with what I managed there actually.
Too tired/busy (college move-in day is tomorrow and my cat had to get vaccines in today) so I didn't go for much of a background beyond "vaguely implied wood floors."
Also yes it is very important that Elias hold Jon's weird freaky vampire tongue like that. For science. And no other reasons.
Tumblr media
Here are their refs! Elias has one hand on Jon's back/shoulder and the other behind his back because I didn't want to draw hands. They're anthro because I don't want to draw humans (furry). Jon is a tortoiseshell cat, Elias is a common genet (because when I thought of Elias designs my mind immediately went to my tiny toy Civet for reasons that are beyond my understanding). Also gave Jon a file folder because I thought he should have one.
(bonus message from my cat Jenny, who found it necessary to walk across my keyboard while I was making this post: bn nnnnnbngh)

I Speak for the Trees [Pt 1]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jennie x Fem!reader
Word Count: 5471
Prompt: Jennie never planned to stay with her mother for seven months. She didn't plan on her mother and father divorcing either, and because of that, her relationship with her mother has always been rocky. They move to a new state, and that means a new town, new neighborhood, new school, new life. Her mother believes this will be a fresh start; Jennie believes it’ll be a disaster and hates everything about it, but when she befriends a strange girl everything gets a little brighter.
A/n: I do switch between point of views I believe— In Jennie’s POV reader is referred to as she/her/they, in your own POV it’s always you. But in short it’s because I’m too lazy to fix it. I’ve been writing this for awhile, enjoy! There’s also a second part that’s 3500+ words and unfinished, but I wanted to post this already…and I wanted to give you guys something while I’m finishing up one shots and chapters 😭 #lazyme
Tumblr media
Jennie felt like a poor, unfortunate soul. Under her nose, it’s been decided she would fly out to see her mother. She didn’t know what possessed her father to agree, or what made him hide it from her till the day of her departure. Jennie felt betrayed almost. She felt like a piece of driftwood, trapped in a relentless storm where the sea pushed and pulled her as it liked, regardless of what she wanted.
Jennie didn’t want to go to New Zealand, and that much was clear with the heated debate she was having with her father. She was never one to protest this adamantly, however, it was called for as it was the summer before her Senior year.
“But Dad,” she said desperately. “Please, it’s my last year of highschool, I can’t leave when I’ve been at this school since the beginning— what about my friends? My job? My accomplishments? I don’t want to leave so suddenly.”
“That's completely understandable, but there’s something else, I know there is.”
They stared at each other for a few tense seconds, and Jennie scowled.
“Fine, I’ll tell you,” she quipped. “It’s because I don’t want to leave you alone here. I can’t! Not like mom did! I am not like her — I won’t be like her — and I don’t want to see her! Why now does she want to come back into my life? We were fine. I was fine on my own; and now? Now she wants me back right when I was content,” she huffed, tone on the verge of a growl. Tears swam in her eyes and her nose twitched. “I hate her—”
“Jennie! You will not go there.” Her father interrupted sternly, a deep frown on his face. Jennie flinched, gaze snapping to the floor. How her father still held her mother in the light made her distressed. She’d ask him ‘why’ and he would say ‘it’s love.’
Although his warning made her want to surrender, to give in and welcome the despair, Jennie still had some fight left in her. She lifted her chin and met his gaze, defiance shining in her eyes. A fire of resentment burning in her chest. “But you know what she did to us. I have every reason to loathe her.”
Us.
Her father let out a drained sigh, running his hands down his face. He looked her straight in the eyes, and Jennie knew she was taxing him with this arguing, and she knew she could be in the wrong. But she didn’t want to accept that when it felt like she was right her whole life. She wanted it to stay that way.
“Jennie, you don’t have to fight all my battles. What happened with me and your mother is a thing in the past,” he began, and Jennie felt hurt. “I have forgiven her and…”
“You forget.” Jennie snapped, unable to help herself. He ignored her.
“I forgave but I haven’t forgotten. Jennie, I have forgiven. You continue to live in the past, and that is why you light up about this topic. Back then…I regret involving you in so much of my problems, I should’ve shielded you from them. It’s only my fault you feel this way about her.”
Jennie shook her head no.
“Yes,” he said. In the past he was so absorbed in his grief he didn’t realize quickly enough that Jennie was beside him, feeding into his emotions, growing resentment for her mother when things were complicated back then. Jennie was stuck to an ‘us’ when it’s really just a ‘him.’ Jennie wasn’t left behind, and she was too young to understand that. Now she’s too old to want to understand.
“Well, I still don’t want to go,” she said stubbornly.
“Look, you’ve never had trouble making friends before, I’m confident you’ll be at the top of your class at any school, and you’ll have no trouble finding a job, so what is it? Besides your…issues with your mother.”
Well that’s just it, Jennie thought sarcastically. She didn’t want to see her mother. But most of all, she didn’t want to leave her father. He would be alone in this big, empty house. They had no pets. The maids only come every other two days and he rarely goes out as it is.
Jennie looked around the room at the drawn ivory curtains, the small, black sofas, the mahogany desk with papers strewn about, and to the bed, where her father sat elevated. Beside him on the nightstand were pill containers with prescription medicine and drugs. Her father had countless health problems, thankfully none serious, but who would take care of him? He was a workaholic.
What if all the maids got simultaneously sick, and they couldn’t clean or take care of things her father couldn't? What if the chef decided to go tour five-star restaurants to further his own culinary skills and her father starved to death? (Not that he couldn’t cook for himself, but still.) What if he slipped down the steps and hurt himself? Her eyes watered, and she clamped her bottom lip between her teeth to stop it from trembling.
Her father knew what was going through her head just from the way she was staring at him. “Oh, Jennie…” he murmured, and she ran to his side and threw her arms around him, wailing.
“Dad,” she cried, voice watery and wavering. “I don’t want to leave youuuuahh.”
“It’ll only be for seven months, dear.” He said, stroking her brown hair.
“Seven months?” She snapped her head up, missing his chin by a few centimeters, tears brimming in her eyes. “That’s— That’s so long; that’s more than half a year!”
He chuckled. “It’ll go by quickly, and you can call me as much as you like. And if you’re really having trouble I’ll tell her to send you back.”
She sniffled, thinking it over. “…You promise?”
“I promise.”
Jennie sat up, rubbing her swollen eyes. “I haven’t packed my bags.”
“The maids did it for you.”
“I haven’t quit my job yet.”
“Jennie, you work for me: the company.”
Jennie pursed her lips. “I haven’t told my friends. I can’t leave without telling them….face to face, they’ll think I’m dead.”
“You have two friends, and I’m sure they’ll be fine with a video call,” he reassured, raising a knowing brow. “Besides, you have plenty of time to do so.”
“Okay,” she said defeatedly. “When do I leave?”
Ladies and Gentlemen, Korean Air welcomes you to Auckland, New Zealand. The local time is 5:47AM. For your safety and of those around you, please remain seated with your seat belt fastened and keep the aisles clear until we are parked at the gate.
As a result of turbulence, Jennie had to peel her fingers off the arm rests one by one. She was glad her father booked her a seat with privacy because she didn’t need anyone to see her like this. She ignored the finger-shaped dips in the arm rests and looked out the oval-shaped window. The sun was just beginning to rise.
Jennie exited the plane with a yawn just as her phone dinged with a notification from her mother. She’s had her mom’s number all this time but she hasn’t used it to call or answer any of the texts she was sent for years. Jennie opened it reluctantly.
Mom: Jennie, I’m at the East gate, just outside it. I’ll see you soon.
She didn’t have to ask for any directions as her boarding gate was nearby. She walked with her carry-on luggage, a medium-sized suitcase with a minimum amount of clothes and items. She would have to buy more, she couldn’t travel with her whole closet.
Jennie was reaching the E-Gate, and outside the glass door was her mom, waving at her from the curbside and shouting her name as if the sign she was holding up wasn’t enough. Jennie blinked, feeling warmth spread across her face. Must she do that? She couldn’t bring herself to stand there and stare at her mother incredulously, it’d only delay things further, and she was tired.
Jennie let out a long, depreciating sigh, gripped her suitcase’s handle so tight her knuckles turned white, and walked to her mother. The closer she got, the more butterflies fluttered in her stomach. The kind she’d rather not experience. Her mother was the carbon copy of herself, her father would say. She hated it. Jennie reached her.
“Mother,” Jennie greeted coldly.
Her mom sighed, her smile looking a little dimmer. “Hi, Jennie. I don’t even get a hug? A ‘Hello, I missed you?’” She joked, trying to make light of their situation. It wasn’t working. “You’re not happy to see me?”
“No, not really.” Jennie answered. “I assume you feel the same?”
Not responding, her mom took Jennie’s bag and put it in the trunk of her car and they got in. Her mom pulled out of the parking space and began to drive. “I know that I’ve been a bad mom…and I’m sorry. I really am. And I know that’s not enough right now, but this summer I’ll try and make the most of it. I’m in the process of moving, so we’ll be going to that house. It’s a fresh start for both of us. You still like the ocean, don’t you? The house is by the ocean—“
“I’m tired.” Jennie interrupted. “Can we please talk later?”
Her mom gave a nod. “Yes, get some rest.” Jennie closed her eyes.
When she opened them, a few hours had passed and it was brighter outside. She raised her hand in an attempt to block the sun. They were driving slowly down a street lined with houses. It was a pretty lively neighborhood, with lots of people and animals. There was a slight salty smell to the air from the ocean.
The car began to slow as it turned down a corner street, and Jennie kept an eye out, trying to guess which house her mom had bought. Her mom had a taste for a clean and modern look, so any house on the street could fit. But some houses had different designs, some more simple than others. Jennie was baffled when her mom passed the house she thought she would have picked and pulled into the driveway next to it. In the end it made sense since there was a moving truck parked on the curb. The house itself was white, a type of smoky brown, and gray, with two floors and a nice garage and porch, but the front yard was hideous. Horrendous. Horrifying. Heart-stopping?
It was extremely overgrown. Wildflowers and weeds sprouted from the tall grass and it grew somewhat over the sidewalk and touched the lower walls of the house. She wouldn't be surprised if there were a few snakes living there. It was an eyesore, really, almost like the previous owners didn’t care at all about the land. The house stuck out like a sore thumb among the mowed lawns on the street.
They got out of the car, Jennie slower since she was still groggy from waking up. A tall man walked out of the house and waved at her mom. He was the help, Jennie guessed. But when they hugged each other she knew they might be friends or coworkers. “Tom, I want you to meet my daughter. This is Jennie.”
He turned to her, grinning with slightly crooked bottom teeth. “Hello, it’s nice to meet you, I’m Tom. I’ll be helping you and your mom move everything in these next couple days.”
Jennie nodded at him. “It’s nice to meet you too.”
Before her mom and Tom got into conversation, Jennie asked if she could explore the house. Her mom said she should find which room she wants.
Inside, just through the front door, there was a foyer room, and further there was an open space that was most likely going to be the living room. The kitchen was just across that, and it was a pretty big kitchen space, dark marble counters, stainless steel fridge, and other things. There was an entrance to the basement, and a hallway with a bathroom, two rooms, and one closet. She didn’t want a room on the ground floor.
Jennie made her way upstairs to find which room she would claim. She didn’t need the largest one, but there had to be a medium-sized one. On the right of the top of the stairs there was a larger bedroom. She walked further down the hallway and entered a room on the left, because if she went any further down it would just be a bathroom, and decided she would take it.
The room’s walls were painted a light gray, and it had two windows, allowing plenty of light to come through. It was sized perfectly and would fit her needs. There was still a twin-sized bed in the corner; hopefully Tom would move it out. Jennie turned in a circle, mentally planning out where she would have her things and how she would design. There was already a closet built in the room, so she wasn’t going to need any large dressers. She would make the room look different from the one at her father’s— fresh start, her mom had said.
Jennie made her way to the windows and pulled open the old curtains, fully expecting to see an overgrown yard with weeds and sticks hidden between the tall blades of grass, but that wasn't what she saw. The backyard was mowed, landscaped, and overall very nice compared to the front yard. But something was off, something was out of place. There was someone in her yard that was definitely not supposed to be there. Jennie pressed her face to the wire screen, scrutinizing the figure.
It was a girl, and she was sitting on a thick branch of the big tree in the middle of her backyard, sipping a juice box and swinging her legs childishly as if she had no care in the world. Eventually, the girl’s leg-swinging pace caused her to lose balance and fall backwards. She fell first on her neck and then flipped onto her back. Jennie winced.
“That was so mean of you!” The girl yelled.
She unmistakably said that to the tree.
“What the hell?” Jennie murmured, brows knitted. She watched the girl with something akin to frightful fascination as the girl scolded the tree, her hands moving wildly in the air. She climbed back onto the branch a moment later, and Jennie’s gaze shifted to the juice box lying forgotten in the grass. (Litter.)
Oh. Oh. There was a stranger in her yard.
Jennie promptly ran to the doorframe of her soon-to-be room, leaning forward. “Mom! There’s someone in our yard! Mom!” She waited, rolling her eyes when she didn’t receive an answer. Her mom must still be outside flirting with Tom. Jennie quickly ran back to the window to check if the strange girl was still there, and after confirming she was, ran down the stairs and out the house.
Outside, her mom was being handed a basket by Tom, and as Jennie got closer she saw it was filled with treats of sorts. Jennie stopped short of her mom. “Mom, someone is in our yard sitting on the tree.”
“That’s nice honey. Why don’t you bring these boxes to the kitchen for me?” Her mother answered distractedly and she frowned. She was still making goo-goo eyes at Tom— and probably wasn’t conscious of it. (Yuck.)
“No– ugh. You're not listening to me. I said there's a literal stranger in our yard.” She told her again, then remembering how yelled at the tree like it would verbally respond, she grumbled, “A real weirdo at that.”
Her mom raised a sharp brow. “Yeah? How about you give them some of Tom’s baked treats? Maybe you could make a friend,” she suggested, smiling as she opened Jennie’s palm and putting a small treat-filled baggy in her palm. Jennie stared at it, the silly characters on it smiling at her mockingly. She scoffed and turned on her heel, making her way back upstairs with the goodie bag still in hand.
She flopped on the twin-bed mattress, coughing when a cloud of dust flew into the air. Jennie rolled onto her back and stared at the ugly, off-white popcorn ceiling.
She didn’t want to have to make new friends. She never wanted to live here. She never wanted to leave her dad. Yet she didn’t have a choice.
Jennie closed her eyes and sighed. She laid there for a good ten minutes before she decided she would go back downstairs and find something to do. Anything to keep her mind off the fact that she was thousands of miles away from her family and friends. Downstairs, there were more boxes on the floor now, and Jennie groaned knowing she would have to help unpack. She found herself wandering to the kitchen, where the door to the backyard was. The strange girl was still there, staring past  the top of the fence at something.
Jennie sat on a stool, resting her cheek on her palm. She looked out the window at the girl, sulking. Numerous questions ran laps through her mind: Who was she? Why was she in the backyard? Does she go to her new school? Does she live around here?
“Hey, what are you looking at?” Jennie turned to see Tom was holding a stack of boxes. She could barely see his face. With a huff, he dropped them in the middle of the room before angling his head to the window. “Oh, I see you’ve met the neighbor’s daughter.”
“The neighbor's daughter?”
“Yeah. I think she lives next door. I heard the old owners of this house let her in their yard a lot. I heard their daughter and her were close.”
“You live around here?”
“You could say that,” he answered with a shrug. “Word travels fast in this neighborhood.” (Translation: Everyone is nosey.)
“Oh, okay.” Jennie replied. She doesn’t know if she should worry about seeing him around a lot or not. Tom walked back outside to get another round of boxes. Jennie left through the back door and could hear the strange girl now humming a song.
“Excuse me!” She yelled as she approached the base of the tree.
The girl continued to sing and hum and swing her legs. “Hey!” She yelled louder.
The girl paused in her movements and sound-making, head lowering. “Oh, hello!”
“Yeah, hi. You can't, like, sit in a tree in your own backyard? Or in someone else’s yard?”
“But I like yours,” she responded.
“What?” Jennie said dumbly.
“You have such a nice tree,” she said. “Don’t you want to come up here?”
No she does not. She is not a monkey, or squirrel, or possum, or any animal that likes trees for that matter. “Who the hell are you?” Jennie demanded, moving her arms uselessly by her sides.
“(Y/n),” the girl responded easily, legs picking up their swinging again.
“(Y/n),” Jennie repeated densely. “What the hell are you doing?”
You said nothing and began humming a song as you looked above the fence again.
“This is great—just fantastic.” Jennie muttered, shaking her head in disbelief. “You mind getting away from my house, (Y/n)?”
You stopped and finally looked down at her. Jennie was momentarily stunned, she hadn’t expected you’d be so pretty. Even so…
“Your house?” You asked, tilting your head oddly. “You live here?”
Jennie fought, very bravely— might she add— the urge to slap her forehead. Did you not see or hear her come out of the back door? “Of course I d–”
“In a tree?” You asked with wondrous eyes, sounding awed. “Really?”
Jennie backpedaled. “No, what? Just, no, I–”
“I’ve never met someone who lives in a tree. Is it nice? Where do you put your head when you sleep? Do the animals tell you bedtime stories?”
“I don’t live in a tree! I live in that house,” Jennie told her, pointing to her house when she shouldn’t need to.
“Oh,” You said, seemingly disappointed. (Jennie didn’t care.)
“Yeah. So are you going to be leaving soon?”
“Am I going to be leaving soon?” You repeated like a parrot.
“Yes, are you?”
“Am I?” You asked again.
Jennie sucked in a sharp breath through her teeth. This was going absolutely nowhere. “Why are you just repeating…nevermind. I don’t have time for this. Goodbye.” Jennie said, turning on her heel to walk back inside.
“Bye! It was nice to meet you!” You shouted after her, grinning.
What a complete weirdo, Jennie thought, slamming the screen door shut behind her. She walked through the kitchen, intending to go back to her room and entertain herself with her phone, when she noticed her mom at the front door saying goodbyes to Tom. Jennie realized there were a lot more boxes sitting around now.
The door shut and her mom turned around, eyeing the cluttered floor. “I guess we should start unpacking,” she murmured, hands on her hips. She looked at Jennie, seemingly hesitant. “You can rest if you’re tired, Tom managed to get the couches inside. They’re comfortable,” she offered.
Jennie found herself shaking her head no. “I’ll help. It's a…” she yawned. “A lot of boxes.”
Her mother raised a brow. “Are you sure?”
“Yeah,” she said, kneeling to open the first box in front of her. “I assume where Tom put the boxes is what room the things inside go in?”
“Yes, but don’t open the ones with green tape, I have to buy furniture for them tomorrow.”
So, in a slightly awkward silence, they unpacked the boxes, placing items in their respective places. Hours passed, and the sun sunk into the ocean and the moon emerged— as did the creatures of the night. The tree leaves blew with the wind and the ocean lapped the shore, a peaceful sound.
Jennie was currently in the kitchen, organizing the plates and bowls into cabinets when she looked out the curtainless window to the backyard. It was pitch black save for the nightlights, and the strange girl was gone.
“Jennie, why don’t you finish up there and we’ll call it a night,” her mom called from down the hall in the bathroom.
“Okay,” she responded distractedly.
The juice box was tucked in a hole in the tree.
Jennie was woken by gentle shaking of her shoulder. She blinked groggily, sitting up slightly. The face of her mom came into view. “What time is it?”
“12:26pm,” her mom told her.
Jennie yawned. “Why didn’t you wake me up earlier?”
“I figured you were jetlagged. And you’re probably hungry, so I ordered brunch.”
Jennie ate her french toast, listening to her mom tell her what the plan of the day was. They were to go grocery shopping to fill up the empty fridge,  to IKEA to buy some more furniture, and Jennie would have some time to walk around the neighborhood before sunset.
After she ate, Jennie went upstairs and dug through her suitcase's options and was surprised. The maids really did know what she liked, and she found it hard to pick an outfit since all of them were good. Finally settling on baggy blue jeans and a cropped, beige camisole with a matching jacket, she slipped into white flats and grabbed her wallet before heading downstairs. Her mother was already dressed and seated on the ivory couches scrolling on her phone, waiting.
She looked up when Jennie approached. “You look nice. Ready to go?” she asked, standing. Jennie nodded at her and they walked out the door together.
Jennie was in a particularly good mood after having food in her stomach until her mom brought up school in the car ride to the grocery store. The topic soured Jennie's mood considerably. She had hoped they would avoid any discussion about it till (at the latest— a stretch, really) the night before her first day of school. The idea of going to another school hadn't quite seeped in yet.
“I’m sure it’ll be fun,” her mother tried, glancing at Jennie before returning her eyes to the road. “I’ve heard great things about the highschool from Tom; his friend’s son goes there.”
Tom, again. Tom this, Tom that, Tom said this, Tom did that.  “Speaking of Tom, what’s going on between you two?” Jennie pried. Did her mom think she didn’t notice the subtle flirting and touches they had as they were unpacking? Something was going on, and she was going to find out.
A mask of indifference settled on her mom’s face. “Nothing. And don’t change the topic. You never know, you might love the school.”
Jennie rested her forehead on the window, watching the outside speed past. “We’ll see,” she whispered.
Shopping for groceries went by relatively quickly, and they were on the way to IKEA in less than two hours. At IKEA, they ended up purchasing two tables, a TV stand, shelves, bed frames, and some rugs. Most of it will be delivered to their house from tomorrow to the next few days.
When Jennie got home, she changed into black biker shorts and a lightweight, baby blue hoodie due to the temperature rising quite a bit. She decided she would walk around the neighborhood.
“I’m going on a walk!” She yelled, sliding her shoes back on.
“Is your phone charged?” Her mom’s head peeked out from the kitchen, brow raised in question.
“76%,” she responded, waving her phone in the air.
“Okay, don’t go too far and get lost, and be back by…let’s say six.”
Jennie was out the door shortly. She paused at the end of the driveway, her thoughts conflicted on whether to go in the left or right direction. (She chose left.) Mid-afternoon, the neighborhood was infested with crawling newborns on lawn blankets and buzzing families. It was a cosmopolitan melting plot, inclusive and close-knit all at once. She felt slightly overwhelmed.
It didn’t go past her that she was on the receiving end of curious onlookers. Did she stand out that much? Nonetheless, she ignored them.
She mentally noted there was an ice cream shop further down the street she walked, right next to the park. Jennie made her way across the street to another block of the neighborhood, and it was obvious the people living on this street were more well off. The houses were practically mini mansions, and their lawns fenced in.
Jennie heard a shout from behind. “Hey!…Hey, wait up!”
Jennie glanced behind her and quickly snapped her head back forward. Jogging up to her was (Y/n) again— the tree girl— waving her hand in the air wildly as she willed Jennie to slow her pace. With a groan, she slid the hood over her head and pulled the strings so tight she cut off her air supply till she relented. She began to gradually speed up her pace, almost breaking into a jog. You don’t know me. Go away. The footsteps got closer and Jennie eventually gave up, walking normally again.
Panting, the girl fell in step with Jennie. “You walk so fast!” You wheezed. Jennie fought back a devilish smile.
You were wearing something similar to Jennie, except you had on a jacket instead of a hoodie. You had stickers all over your face, however, and Jennie felt slightly offended, being a sticker collector and all. That’s not how you use stickers!
“How’d you know it was me?” She asked.
“That’s easy; it’s like you have a big target on your back,” you laughed, poking her back to emphasize your point.
She slapped your hands away. “A target on my back?” Jennie murmured, face scrunched in confusion.
“You’re new, is what I mean, like a shiny new toy.” You elaborated, hands moving animatedly. Then, your voice falled to a low murmur. “Everyone more or less knows each other here.”
“And that’s a good thing? You don’t sound happy about that at all.”
With the absence of your answer she noticed the weight of snoopy eyes had dissipated since you came, they were no longer burning holes through her. She also noted that the surroundings were quieter, like some of those outside moved to their backyards or went inside. She didn’t dwell on why.
“So…” You dragged out. “What made you move here?”
“Oh, I’m just visiting for a couple months.”
“Visiting relatives?”
“Just my mom.”
A sign that had the image of a wave and underneath, directions to the dock was coming closer. The salty smell of the ocean was also more prominent.
You hummed. “Do you like pengui—” You paused.
“Do I like what?”
She stopped walking after noticing you had stopped before the sign. “What is it?”
You fidgeted in place. “I can’t go that far.”
“Why?”
You looked nervous— and Jennie thought it was a strange look on you. “I’m forbidden, they don’t want me to find the treasure… they want it for themselves.”
“Huh?”
You smiled so bright Jennie had to squint. “Did you know penguins poop every twenty minutes?”
What in the world?
Jennie’s face scrunched up. She was feeling lightheaded from the way you talked. Her head was spinning in circles. Everything you said was completely random— nothing connected.
She ultimately decided you weren’t worth the headache and continued walking forward. Like she thought, you stayed rooted to your spot, a pout making the corners of your lips fall.
Before she turned to enter the gate that was a part of the metal fence around the shoreline, separating homes from the sand, she heard you tell her to wave at the ocean for you.
Good grief.
It’s been a few days since Jennie had an encounter with (Y/n), and she’d be lying if she said she wasn’t somewhat curious as to where she was. She refused to dwell on the idea that she missed the loudness that came with her. She didn’t. Why would she? She likes quiet. The peace and calm—
At the sound of loud singing, Jennie practically fell off her bed and scurried to the open window. (Leaving it open is a habit of hers now). Her eyes widened. You were sitting in the tree again, a regular pastime for you apparently, another juice box crushed in your hand. This time, however, you had brought three pillows, and she watched as you threw them down at the base of the tree.
Safety measures in case you fell again?
She found herself throwing on some sweats and leaving her room.
From the base of the tree, you blinked down at her, your hair falling around you. Then, comically, you waved wildly at her. “Hi, you!”
“Hello… You’re looking at the ocean again?” She wondered why you seemed so entranced by it, why you looked at it with such wonder. It was just water. She wondered why she even bothered talking to you; wasn’t she trying to distance herself?
“Yes! Want to see?”
“I don’t know, I’m good down here. I’m not good at climbing,” she shook her head, recalling the time she injured her ankle after an attempt to climb a tree after her cousin.
“You’ll be fine! I’ll help you,” you hopped off the branch, landing on the ground next to her. “I’ll be down here to catch you if you fall.”
Jennie bit her lip and looked to the side, imagining the pain she’d go through if she fell. “But…”
“But- you’ll be just fine! C’mon, start climbing up. You can use that wedge there…”
Sitting in the tree, Jennie wondered how she let you coerce her into doing it. The view was pretty nice though. Clear waters stretched out, white sand, and the sun.
“See, I knew you could do it,” you said when you sat next to her. Jennie merely hummed. You shuffled about before your face brightened up. You turned to her, eyes practically sparkling. “Hey, did you know that…”
Hey. You. Hey, you. It’s then when she realized you’ve never called her by her name. It was always “you” or “hey” in place of her name.
Jennie tilted her head at you, cutting your fun fact off. “Wait, do you even know my name?”
You paused, and it was clear you were searching through your (possibly glitter infested) mind for it. The effort was clear on your face and Jennie let out a quiet scoff, a sign of her amusement. She knocked your shoe with her own. “It’s Jennie.”
You gasped. “I totally knew that, you didn’t let me remember.”
“Sure.” Ignoring your pout, she carefully climbed down the tree. “Make sure you don’t forget it.”

Random thoughts about Sand/Ray (Only Friends ep 1)
Rewatched the first episode of Only Friends and I have a few (many) random thoughts, here are just the ones about Ray and Sand because they deserved a whole post (everyone else is in this other post) :
Ray mentions his dad in the first scene we ever see him in, getting mad at Sand who told him not to be a burden on other people and replying "are you my father ?"... Foreshadowing much ?
The first interaction between Ray and Sand ends with Sand telling Mew to take care of his friend, and you believe that's what Mew is doing but then next party he abandons him
Ray throwing up and his friends immediately letting him go and pushing him away is... funny in the context of the scene but again I think telling us something about how they're all going to treat him
(Sand/First opening and closing the intro is *chef's kiss*, he's not the main character clearly but as an outsider and a "morally straight" guy he's going to be a force to shake things up I'm sure)
Sand and Ray's second interaction immediately revolves around once again Ray being a burden but also Ray's friends not being present enough for him and Sand disapproves of both
Did Ray already drink and drive before this ? Did anyone stop him before?
Ray's throw up sound in this episode are truly awful and make me quite uncomfortable. Good acting though
Him immediately passing out on a random man's shoulder after being taken to this stranger's place does imply a worrying lack of survival instinct. Baby he could steal your livers ! or what's left of it
(The owner of YOLO bar is Yo, as reiterated many times by Ray and Sand, and given how often he's mentioned he must have a role in the story, but he's hasn't shown up yet ?) (Edit : didn't know Yo was played by Jennie so we have actually seen her around, just haven't gotten a proper scene with her, looking forward to really meeting her !)
Ray becoming aggressive and accusing Sand of stealing his stuff only after Sand says he didn't sleep with him and didn't even consider it seems to indicate that Ray truly thinks people can only take an interest in him for sex or for money. Arf this continues to get more sad
The fact that Ray actually checks his pockets when Sand gives him back his clothes is so indicative of what's actually important to him : not his safety or consent but his material possessions and external signs of wealth
Ray complaining to Mew that he got kicked out by Sand for no reasons is so rich, but again I think Ray truly doesn't realise how what he said was offensive because he's so closed in his own bubble
But Mew saying he thought Boston was taking care of Ray when he literally just asked Ray how he got home last night and knew that Boston refused to take care of Ray is so hypocritical ?! And goes to show he wasn't really bothered to make sure Ray had a way to go home safely. He assumed he'd be fine on his own and didn't care that much
Ray sad that his crush is talking to someone else and driving home alone in his fancy car in a tee shirt that says "Poor Boy" is High Comedy
Boston asking Ray why doesn't he just become Mew's boyfriend was such a dick move, but also Ray is so convincing at denying he would be ? Is it because he's so used to lying about this, or because he doesn't think he's worth Mew's affection so he doesn't even dream of being his boyfriend ?
Ray does have a habit of just exiting the situation for something that his friend all excuse as being one of his addictions (drinking, smoking) and they don't even try to stop him
Sand tells Ray he has his lighter because he got him drunk and stole from him with such confidence I don't care that he's joking he could be telling the truth and I'd find it hot
The moment Sand actually gets visibly angry is when Ray tells him that Sand caring is "boyfriend behaviors" and that's telling on how Sand is disgusted with the idea of being his boyfriend but also resents the fact that caring about being respected is something only boyfriends do... when in fact people who are only friends can too ! (see what I did there)
That dialogue between them does illustrate the power of not just saying sorry, but saying thank you. Which is an actual thing I try to apply in my own life so I thank the show for reminding me haha
the softness in the voice of Sand when he then says "obviously" and agrees to give his lighter to Ray made me melt
Ray's eyes during the whole scene are truly so seductive, Khao does know his fuck me eyes very well
There's no conclusion except to say Sand is going to get fucked by Ray in more ways than one and I'm looking forward to it

BlackPink House 6 || Lisa's turn
previous part
Tumblr media
Lisa shows you her pretty little collection of toys, whispering to you to take your pick.
You start by tying her wrists and ankles to the bed posts with silken ropes and ripping off her underwear. You run your hands up and down her body as her body arches into your touch. You tie a velvet ribbon over her eyes as your hand slowly runs up and down her smooth body.
"You wanna know how you look right now, baby girl?" Your voice is low and husky. "Your pretty little face is tense with anticipation, your teeth biting down on your plump lips. Your neck and collarbone are so painfully spotless, that I can't wait to paint them with my marks. Your round breasts are round and all perked up, nipples so hard that I just wanna nibble on them till you cum." Lisa moans at that and you chuckle. "I'm running my hands over your stomach now. My dick is so long, I wonder if I'll feel it when I shoot my cum into you. It's so flat right now, I want to see it all full with my seed baby girl. Wouldn't that be perfect?"
"Yes, daddy." She mewled. "Please fill me up, I'm so hungry for daddy's thick cum."
"I know." You crouch down in between her legs. "I can see your poor little pussy clenching around nothing, craving my cock. It has been since I entered rose. But you, baby girl, I'm gonna play with a little more."
You examine her collection of toys and grab an automated vibrator.
Lisa shivers as you push the vibrator into her pussy, careful with the position. You kneel between her legs, eager to watch her pussy shake and shiver.
"You ready baby girl?"
"Y-yes Oppa."
You press the button for the lowest setting and watch as Lisa lets out soft gaspy moans. Her eyes close and she bites her lip, arching her back. You kiss her tummy, hand stroking her hip.
"Does that feel good baby?"
"So good." Lisa whimpers. "I want more."
"As you wish." You turn it up a notch, and Lisa's gasps turn into whimpers. You notice her trying to press her thighs together, and separate her legs with a chuckle. "Nuh-uh, you spread wide open for daddy to see your juicy pussy."
She moans and you position your mouth between her legs, blowing some hot air into her pulsing cunt. Lisa throws her head back, hands twisting the ropes.
"Daddy, I wanna touch myself~" She whines.
"No. You kept touching Rose when I told you to keep your hands to yourself." You growl. "This is your punishment for not listening to daddy."
"B-but her tits looked so plump and milky." She moaned. "They were so tempting!! I couldn't help myself!"
"Greedy little bitch." You hiss, turning up the vibrator to the maximum, and Lisa screams. You underestimated the power of the little vibrator as Lisa's entire body shakes. You hear slippery sounds from her pussy and look down to find that she had already orgasmed.
"So sensitive." You murmur as Lisa moans loudly. "Just from a tiny vibrator. So fast too."
"I don't want the toys anymore." Lisa moaned. "I want your dick daddy! I want your mouth to suck on my tits till they're sore and I want you to pound into me with your fat long cock and oh please daddy don't tease me anymore."
You quirk an eyebrow at her words. Jennie had told you Lisa loved foreplay more than anything, so it was surprising for her to want to get to it so quickly. You had so many plans with her lovely toys. But maybe playing around with Rose was all the foreplay she needed.
"Okay then. I'll accept your request." You kiss her stomach. "It's punishment enough that you can't touch yourself or see." You move up to suck on her breast and she moans. You suck hard on her nipple as if you suckling for milk. She twists against her binds, and you press your body down against hers to keep her still. Another hand wraps around her other breast, and you squeeze it like its play dough, enjoying the unbelievable plushness of it. Lisa tries to grind against you, trying to line her pussy with your hard dick, but you twist her nipple and she stops, throwing her head back onto the pillows to release a moan.
"Your fingers." She panted. "I want your fingers inside of me."
You chuckle. "next time, I'd gag you too. Or maybe stuff your mouth with one of your unnie's pussies."
Lisa shivers at the thought as you release one breast and start sucking on the other. Just as Lisa asked, your fingers brushed against her entrance, teasingly. Lisa humped her hips up to meet your hands but you chuckle and push her back.
"Such a needy little bitch." You nibble on her nipple as she cries out. "Didn't your unnies teach your patience?"
"They try." Lisa pants. "But I'd be sucking their pussy by then so they just shut up and let me do what I want."
You enter a single finger into her sticky entrance and she shudders. "Well, I can't blame them. You do have a pretty little mouth. Both up there, and down here."
You pump your finger into her as your thumb plays with her clit. Her body quite literally vibrates at your touch and you grin against her breast. You had done what you promised, marking them red and purple with your mouth. You move up to her neck to finish your job. When she walks out of this room, you want both her unnies to know who had control over their prized maknaes tonight.
"More." Lisa whimpered and you obliged, sliding in another finger. Her walls compromised easily, making space for a moment to suck greedily on his fingers again. Her juices were so sticky and wet that they made mouth-watering sounds as your fingers played with her kitten. Your thumb rubs her folds as you add in a third finger, quickening your pace against her slick walls. Lisa's moans sped up with your rhythm until they became more short erotic gasps than moans. As her pussy sucked on your fingers, you imagined how it would take your cock.
Maybe that thought had made you go faster because Lisa orgasmed much more quickly than you expected. Her hips jerked as her juices flowed out, and kept coming for at least 5 minutes. Your eyes widen.
"Just for my fingers?" You tease, licking your fingers, enjoying the sweet and tangy taste of her cum. "Don't tell me you'll come as soon as I put my dick in. Even Rose lasted longer than that."
Lisa's lips form into a pout. "I have much better stamina than her."
"Let's find out shall we?" You grin, before slipping down her blindfold. She blinks as her doll-like eyes adjust to the dimmed lights.
"What are you gonna do?" she asks as you untie her ankles, loosens the rope around her wrists, and make her sit back on the headboard.
"I'm gonna let you see." You smirk, grabbing her face by the chin and forcing it down to look at her pussy, and your throbbing cock mere inches from it. Her whimpering returned as she tried to twist against her ropes, trying to reach out to your dick. You push her knees back and pin them against her body to keep her still.
"No touching." You murmur. "You should be grateful I let you watch."
You make sure her eyes are trained on your dick as it carefully presses against her dripping pussy. Your member was already slick with your precum, which you didn't notice at all till now. Slowly and teasingly, you rub the head against her folds as she whines, before finally pushing in.
Lisa's walls grab a hold of your dick immediately, sucking on it just as greedily as it did with your fingers, trying to pull in more of your dick. But you kept your eyes trained on her, watching the way how her mouth watered as she watched your dick get slowly sucked into her hole.
"That's right." You whisper. "Watch how your greedy little pussy can't get enough of my cock. Watch how I'm not even moving yet, but you're already trying to take me all in. How does it feel baby girl?"
"Oppa~" She whined, biting her lip. "Oppa it feels so unreal. Your cock is so thick that it stretches me out so much, but my pussy can't help but latch onto you."
You grin and slide further inside her, pleasure erupting as you feel her tight, needy walls. Lisa keeps her eyes trained on the lewd sight, hands still struggling against the ropes to try and touch you. You decide to distract her by picking up the pace, going deeper and deeper with every thrust.
Lisa was shaking and twisting as your hips slapped against hers, moaning and writhing like an animal. Rose sleeping next to you on the large bed stirred at Lisa's loudness and you clamped her mouth shut with your hands. Lisa's eyes rolled up as her body shook with your thrusts, boobs bouncing deliciously. You release a hand from Lisa's mouth, only to grab Rose's panties discarded on the edge of the bed and stuff them into the vocal girl's mouth. She may moan like a sexy porn star, but watching her restrict her sounds of pleasure turned you on even more.
You used your free hand to grab her tit again and goddamn Lisa almost screamed. You couldn't believe how much pleasure both of you were in at that moment. Lisa craved you and you couldn't get enough of her. You wanted to touch her everywhere, watch her eyes go big as she stifles her screams, pound into her so hard that she can't walk for days.
So you paced yourself. Every time you felt that you were getting close, you slowed down and controlled yourself. Lisa tried to grind into you but you held her still against the headboard. Then you picked up your pace again until the bed creaked beneath you.
Lisa would whimper and say she was close, but you'd slow down immediately.
"I'm gonna savor you for hours." You'd whisper darkly. "When I allow you, you're gonna cum so hard you'll see fucking stars."
After god knows how long, you finally couldn't hold it anymore. Your hips slap into her so hard that you can see them bruising. You bend down and whisper against her neck.
"I'm gonna come now." You give her collarbone a rough bite. "And you're gonna come with me, baby girl."
"Yes, Oppa! Please cum inside of me!"
You signal your release with one final thrust and Lisa orgasms immediately with you as she slumps down on the headboard. You rub a hand over her panting breasts and down her belly, feeling your seed fill up her slim belly. You kiss her tummy before pulling out of her, watching your seed and her juices flow down freely on the bed. God with all the pretty little sights Lisa has for you, you'd think she was a professional porn star.
"I swear to god Oppa, I won't be able to move my legs tomorrow." She winces as you untie her ropes. Though they were of the softest quality, Lisa had struggled so much that her wrists were red.
"That was the point." You chuckle as she slides down next to Rose. "I wanted both my girls to clench their thighs together all day as they think of all the dirty things they did with me."
Lisa stroked's Rose's hair fondly. "I wonder how our baby would react when she finds the little gift inside of her."
You climb out of bed, shove on your boxers and send Lisa a wink. "That's for you to find out."
The last thing you see as you exit the room to find your own was Lisa shoving her face into a sleeping Rose's chest.

While my takeaways from this episode are mired in horny brainy fog, I have collected myself enough to offer some thoughts on this episode.
Firstly, that scene with Top and Mew on the couch was the most emotionally honest scene we've gotten with these two. I mentioned in an earlier post that a lot of characters place Mew on a pedestal, and you could practically see this happening with Top the moment Mew drops his guarded pretenses to offer some real empathy to him. Top knows this boy is terrified of what he can do to him emotionally, and I think Mew working through that fear for his sake meant a lot to him.
I also think a big part of the reason Mew's virginity seems to annoy Boston more than anyone is that socially, Mew's virginity is the only thing that can challenge Boston in terms of sex appeal. I would not be at all surprised if Boston's been approached by people interested in Mew before. This boy is all ego. He wouldn't like that.
Which brings me to Nick. I'm approaching middle age, my maternal urge to fly to Thailand and offer this poor child life advice is real. Boston, the creature of infinite ego, is definitely taking advantage of Nick lacking one. I hope Boston is among the faces Sand punches this season.
First and Khao, I mean, what else can be said. These boys know how to eat, both the scene and each other. Also, easily the horniest piece of 90's nostalgia I've ever seen.
Cheum and her girlfriend being wholesome is great and all, but would also like to see them being messy and sex driven, for science, of course.
I need to go back and check if Ray was in earshot of Sand dropping that monstera line, because if he did, I'm almost positive that's the moment Ray decided to fuck him. It's what would have done it for me, and this boy and I share more spoiled gay energy than I care to admit. He annoys me a little, but like, I love whores, so he's also growing on me.
Also, I have mentioned this yet, but Jennie's hair is really working for her.
Sand out here confirming the most heterosexual I will ever get will always be in response to underfed bisexual boys who need a nap.

MEET THE CHAPLAIN!!
(ELINA POSTS ANOTHER OC IN A MILLENNIA? WOWZA!!)
So I’ve been getting into Team Fortress Two for quite some while, and during that time I created a tenth class OC of my own called The Chaplain!! Real name Maryam Kwashiokor, The Chaplain seems to be the most innocent and lighthearted of the crazed mercenaries as she is titled ‘The Nicest Girl In Teufort’ but behind that Goody-Two-Shoes persona, she is a very stressed and lonely girl, she’s quite the panicking worrywart who always seems to crumble under the slightest bit of pressure, she’s the kind of woman to see someone walk stupidly to a puddle only for her to step in and.. fall herself flat on the puddle to let the person walk all over her, her almost girl-crazy devotion to her faith is the glue that keeps herself together without finally snapping under the pressure of having such a dangerous job as a mercenary, despite her cowardly and frail persona, she can manage to take care of herself in combat and for others in the battlefield, possessing a feisty agility and speed to make her always quick to her feet coupled with her being skilled with all sorts of weaponry and being able to use objects (like a yardstick or sharp pencil) to her use in combat, what’s really surprising is that she’s certified for a real ass goddamn chainsaw, but the only thing that Maryam wants in her batshit insane job and her comedically tragic life is to just go through with it to live another day or maybe get enough days for a vacation.. what a poor unlucky girl..
(Also here is her voice-claim!! I was gonna use Lisa Hannigan but Irada Delsink and Jenny Funnell seem like very good fits for her as well!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(And also some art I did of her! As well as a kin onion for folks to understand her character a little more.. I’ve been on a chaplain drawing spree so expect more of it to come!)

Knots & Peculiarity
Apologies for the late post! Posted earlier to AO3--But I finally got to my desktop so Tumblr it is! @rdrevents
Here is my 2023 RDR Valentine Fanfic Exchange for the awesome @southernlynxx once again I hope you enjoy, I loved all of your prompts; especially John using Arthur’s lap as a pillow :’)))
Title:  Knots & Peculiarity
Pairing: John x Arthur
Summary:
“Arthur…you really there?” This time it’s louder than a whisper, ghosting over his lips. ”Right here Marston, lie back now.” Arthur mutters quietly, he hoped they hadn’t garnered any attention. His eyes widen when Marston raises a trembling hand; Arthur holds his breath. The younger man’s palm pressed against Arthur’s chest for too many seconds. Just a solid, seeking touch is all it is.
The silence in the cabin nearly made him forget about all the other occupants. Only the occasional sniffle and shuffling, the sound of a cigarette’s light hissing as it burns, reminds Arthur he’s in the main cabin with the women and the others.
The past few days he’d made himself sparse, not on purpose though, between hunting most days and planning that train robbery with Dutch, he hadn’t much time to check on folks the way he liked. People hadn’t seen much of him for a few days. That’s probably what made him a jarring sight now, standing with mist-clouded eyes in front of another good man they’d nearly lost.
Arthur takes his gloves off as he hovers closely to the cot.
There’s another sound, quiet, nearly missable. The laboured, ragged breaths of his longest friend, injured and shaking, barely conscious through it all. They’d found Marston just days ago, bleeding, starving, nearly dead up in the mountains. Laying on the cot, chewed up and spat out, the younger man looked pitiful with half his face bandaged; the showing skin was painfully raised and colourfully splotched. A gory sight before, but little Johnny Marston looked downright bad now.
Worse than Jenny’s corpse had looked when he’d helped Lenny and Karen bury her, the youngest hands shaking the entire time. He looked worse than Davy too, and he’d all but held his own guts inside his body, the poor bastard.
Arthur bit his chapped lips and brushed a few greasy, tangled locks of black hair away from Marston’s mouth. The younger man’s unwrapped eye flickered beneath his closed lid, otherwise he didn’t react to the touch. Swanson must’ve seen to him earlier.
Arthur’s compelled to this spot in this cramped cabin for reasons he can’t quite explain, like an unseen force dragged him here and kept him staring stupidly. Waiting for something or another.
His bare hand rests just above Marston’s head.
It’s Susan that snaps him out of his stupor. The older woman had just been sitting on the stool, picking at Marston’s stitches with Strauss; pained sounds leaving the injured man’s lips the entire time.
“Mr Morgan.” Her tone is firm, but her eyes were softer with him than with most others. He grunts his acknowledgement to her.
Arthur feels Grimshaw’s eyes burning a hole through him, as though his leisurely presence was unacceptable to her. He half expects her to tell him to git. To go make himself useful. To go find some food or firewood.
She doesn’t.
Instead Susan stoops low, rummaging through a meagre box of the camp's belongings. She pushes aside a sewing kit and spools of thread, some scraps of fabric, a bottle of medicine; she pulls out a simple black comb with a few teeth missing.
Susan glances at him again, a different look in her eyes this time, and Arthur is brave enough to look her in the face with his own clouded pair of eyes.
“Might as well do some work if you’re set on standing around.” Her tone conveys no nonsense, a harsh barking command. She presses the comb into his hand. “Been tempted to cut that mangled mop from his head—I would’ve if I didn’t think he’d wake up kicking and screaming like last time.”
Like last time. Arthur huffs, his lips twinge upward in amusement, thinking of the last time someone had tried to cut Johnny’s hair without expressed permission.
When he doesn’t move Susan’s face falls slightly. He can’t look at her suddenly, throat too constricted and stomach churning. “He don’t like many folk handling  him.”
Unless it’s you. She didn’t say that—but she didn’t need to. It weren’t no kind of secret between the folks who’d been with them since the beginning. The boys are— were inseparable, would still be if not for Marston’s big mistake.
The big mean bastard he is, Arthur thinks there ought to be a nasty part of him which takes satisfaction in seeing the fool broken and pathetic and needing someone for the littlest task, but there isn’t. That’s the thing that confuses him the most. He’s not enjoying watching John fight for his life while he thinks on the past, not one bit, never mind how much he thought he would. All he feels is loneliness somehow, a need to stay by Marston’s side for reasons beyond him.
Arthur sits on the stool. He breathes long and deep, clearing his throat. He blinks away mist to see Marston clearly. The hand atop the greasy mop just sits there for a few seconds.
This is intimate. In spite of the crowd, of the  audience , brushing Marston’s hair feels like something he should be doing behind closed doors. He can’t understand why. Even when his heart starts to flutter.
Still, Arthur’s fingers card through the cold greasy locks. True to Susan’s word it’s a tangled mess better suited for a pair of shears; but then they’d have to deal with Marston’s peculiar anger. Arthur didn’t get it, why grow your hair if you hate washing and brushing it?
Still, Arthur picked at a tangled chunk of hair with the comb, careful of the brittle teeth. He pauses when Marston moaned quietly, as Arthur moved to his scalp. The vulnerability in this moment makes his stomach uneasy. This is a man he’s felt nothing but animosity towards for a few years now, and here Arthur was, carefully brushing his hair, while he lingers in the precarious spot between life and death.
He couldn’t get all of it with the bumps and bandages covering Marston, but Arthur carefully worked the comb through as best he could till his fingers could card through Marston’s hair without getting snagged on too many knots.
---
Arthur lessens the gap between them, hunching over Marston when a particularly nasty gust of air enters the cabin and makes him shiver.  Damn cold…Damn drafty cabin…Damn soft wet wood…
Another heavy gust finally wakes the other man. One dazed dark, blood filled eye looks up at Arthur without an ounce of recognition; he knows what a man looks like when he’s dazed from drugs or fever. This is it. The look of his eye makes Arthur shiver. John shifts around, muttering nonsensical ramblings.
“Careful now Marston.” If he doesn’t sit still he’ll hurt himself—already seems to be in pain by the sounds he makes. The younger man grimaced, teeth clenching together as he willed himself upright.
“What'do you need?” Arthur mutters and slips an arm around his back to hold him upright. Marston’s real close to him now, but that pesky fool won’t stop wriggling around.
“Morgan?…”
John’s voice stills him. His name is said in a cracked whisper, far too quiet for others to hear, but loud enough for Arthur to hear the peculiarity in his tone. Like Marston was surprised to see him here. That hurt.
“Morgan…” he trails off again, this time squinting up at the older man. Unseeing eye tracing over Arthur’s worn features, peering  inside him, yet seeing nothing though he still searches. Cold as it were, Arthur feels himself heat up under the scrutiny. It makes him want to shove off and leave, to chastise himself for seeking company, from Marston of all folk. Then he speaks again.
“Arthur…you really there?” This time it’s louder than a whisper, ghosting over his lips.
“Right here Marston, lie back now.” Arthur mutters quietly, he hoped they hadn’t garnered any attention. His eyes widen when Marston raises a trembling hand; Arthur holds his breath. The younger man’s palm pressed against Arthur’s chest for too many seconds. Just a solid, seeking touch is all it is.
He huffs just then, making little frustrated noises as he eases his way back down, clearly deciding whatever he attempted rising for weren’t nothing important. His hand leaves Arthur’s chest, and the older man can finally breathe.
“Stop movin’ around…M-Marston!?”
A weight fell across his lap. Arthur blinked.
Half asleep, half drugged, half whatever—Marston had dragged himself across Arthur’s lap. If folk weren’t looking before, they sure as hell were looking now.
Arthur’s hand hovered just over John’s head. Marston laid awkwardly, with his lower body stretched out onto the cot, his upper body resting on Arthur.  He suddenly didn’t know what to do with his hands; he let one rest gently atop John’s. Arthur swore then. Marston’s hands were icey. He slips his discarded gloves over them without thinking.
Arthur fixes the blanket over Marston’s form when the younger man turns his head in his lap again. He sighs and Goddamn nuzzles his nose against Arthur’s leg.
The display heats up his cheeks—makes his heart race. John hasn’t accepted any semblance of closeness with anyone these last few years, much less Arthur. Gone were the days where they slept back to back, where they embraced each other with bear hugs and delightful shouts and pats on the backs.
He’s got half a mind to shove the other man off him and walk right out. Damn him. Instead, Arthur resumes his task with a pounding heart when Marston’s breathing evens out. Methodically, he brushes the rest of Marston’s hair until it falls straight and loose. Oily beyond belief, but cleaner looking than it had been in weeks.
Then he sits there and pockets the comb, his silly little task is done. He should get up. Do some actual work, not just sit here pondering.
Marston shivers again. Arthur stays seated. He’s stuck in place, unless he wants to dump Marston back onto the uncomfortable looking cot to shiver with his threadbare blanket. His head tells him as much, but his body won’t do it.
Goddamnit!  He can’t do it, Arthur’s rooted to the spot as though Marston weighs a tonne, with his head pillowed in his lap. It’d be downright cruel to shove him away, as sorry as his state is.
Arthur tries his best to ignore the familiar warmth and conflicting fondness which filled him the longer he sat there, watching John sleep soundly in his care.
Behind him, folks start talking softly.
---
“It’s awful kind of you, letting him do that again.”
Arthur nearly jumps at the voice which caught him off guard. It’s Hosea. Of course it is. Who else could sneak up on him like that? His old friend has a glimmer in his eye, one Arthur stopped trying to guess the reason behind a long time ago. A special type of fondness he reserved for only a select few; Arthur, John, Bessie long ago, Tilly, Lenny, little Jack Marston…
“Sure, I’m real kind when I have to be.”
Hosea ignored his retort. He looked off to the side wearing an expression Arthur can’t read, an expression he shares with Susan, who stood by the fireplace. He catches her face however; it’s soft. Understanding. Knowing. When her gaze shifts from Hosea to him, Arthur drops his head. He looks only at Marston. At his sleeping form pillowed on Arthur’s thighs.
As precarious as his injuries are, the man curls up in a way that can’t be comfortable, never mind the relaxed expression on his face; he looks a lot like Jack in Abigail’s lap, or like how Copper used to curl up in his. Arthur chuckles and thinks to himself. Marston ain’t a cute kid like Jack, his company isn’t as enjoyable as a dogs neither.
The thing is…Marston is annoying and lazy, and stupid and entitled. They’ve been competing with each other for too damn long. But…he’s dear to Arthur. Oh so dear. Oh so dumb and useless too …but he’ll always have an incredible, inexplicable love for John. For the boy he was and the man he is today. One he doesn’t quite understand the depth of. A love he knows he’ll carry with him until the day he dies. He’d do anything for the other man, no matter how much he wants to deny it. Anything he was asked.
Arthur runs a hand through Marston’s hair, humming in satisfaction when his fingers card through without resistance. The younger man made a soft noise at that, tilting his head up, searching for the gentle hand once again. Arthur hesitates for a few seconds, fingers frozen but not from the cold. Then, like he always seems to do when it comes to the other man; Arthur relents. He strokes Marston’s greasy locks, paying special mind to repeat the actions which draw soft content sighs from the younger man.
Be it traversing through a shit snow storm, brushing his damn hair, or allowing the younger man to use him as a pillow with basically the entire gang bearing witness; there wasn’t anything Arthur wouldn’t do for John.
Even now, with his legs long asleep, and back screaming at him, Arthur stays in place and lets John rest in his lap. He’ll stay there as long as he can, for as long as he’s needed.

The Sunnydale Herald Newsletter, Friday, January 5
WILLOW: Faith, wait. I want to talk to you. FAITH: Oh yeah? Give me the speech again, please. Faith, we're still your friends. We can help you. It's not too late. WILLOW: It's way too late. You know, it didn't have to be this way. But you made your choice. I know you had a tough life. I know that some people think you had a lot of bad breaks. Well, boo hoo! Poor you. You know, you had a lot more in your life than some people. I mean, you had friends in your life like Buffy. Now you have no one. You were a Slayer and now you're nothing. You're just a big selfish, worthless waste. (Faith punches Willow in the jaw and she falls to the ground.) FAITH: You hurt me, I hurt you. I'm just a little more efficient. (Willow climbs back to her feet.) WILLOW: Aw, here I just thought you didn't have a come-back. FAITH: You're begging for some deep pain. WILLOW: I'm not afraid of you.

Sharing some headcannons for Jenny from 2022 Rise. Roar. Revolt. Or RRR.
Mainly so they stop pestering me to be heard.
What if Scott and Cathy are Jenny's only parental figures and that's why she came to India? Perhaps she is an orphan or poor relation. When Bheem is asking about her house, her tone is sad when she tells him it's big but not really a home.
In regards to Malli and why Jenny didn't try to free the girl, I have a theory. Cathy seems like the type who would lie to Jenny and tell her that Malli is an orphaned Indian whom they care for. Jenny is trusting of her aunt, no doubt. And wouldn't question this as truth.
Jenny reminds me of Harry Goodsir from AMC's The Terror. Harry Goodsir did not understand the cruelty the other English men showed to the Inuit people they encountered. This was because Harry had lived an isolated life in England. I believe the same can be said for Jenny. She's not seen colonization or English militant cruelty to the Indians. She also has no prejudice, like Harry, whether it's because it was never enforced in her childhood like it never was for me, or if she simply chooses to not be prejudice because it is wrong. Regardless, this causes an inward confliction.
Imagine that you're told by your aunt and uncle that you are obligated to watch the flogging of the man you have feelings for. Then you're watching your only aunt who has been your only source of motherly affection get angry that there isn't enough blood on the floor. Then proceed to get a cat o' nine out with gleeful delight for the officer to use.
When Jenny is crying at Bheem's flogging, it seems so little at first. Then I thought about how britians are told not to show emotions, stiff upper lip and all of that. And especially why would she show her grief and pain to the two people she thought were good, kind, and just. And just now she sees what they're really like. I'd say this was a lot to take in.
I personally don't feel that she blames Ram for being the one that flogged Bheem. I feel that Jenny would be too conflicted about what her Aunt and Uncle are doing to Bheem to think about Ram being the one inflicting the punishment. I feel as though she only sees Ram as another Indian man rising up in the ranks as he sees fit.(but this could be my love for Ram and not wanting Jenny to blame him).
I know that we didn't have time in the film to fully show Jenny's emotional/psychological conflict. But she most likely risked her life to give Bheem the map to the prison. How he even was able to signal her for help shows that she was on constant vigil to help him with whatever she could. The way she says "Be careful." Sounds so sad and separated. Stiff upper lip and all of that...
I'm sure I'll think of other stuff later, or someone else bring stuff to the table.
Anyways, thanks to whoever read this.
@ronaldofandom I thought to tag you in this post! Tag whoever you know who also likes Jenny!

SO-16: And Here's the Action!!
If there's a lot of engagement on this, this post is liable to get real long, beware before you expand.
No art, and I'm pissed because I had a really cool idea for this one. Erik is playing with guns and guns are cool! I have played with some guns (in a controlled environment, don't get nervous) and I can confirm that they are very cool. Not cool enough for me to spend money spraying more lead indiscriminately around the environment, but if forty feral hogs habitually showed up on my lawn, I'd have me some fun. Well, I'll edit the art in later, at some point, hopefully.
*ahem*
Welcome to the Engagement Lounge, for The Chatterbox Massacre (SO-16) an instalment! Short comments can go in the replies, but there's a 475 character limit. Longer ones will need a reblog. Remember to @asksoldieron if you're reblogging someone else's reblog, so I can see it too!
😭Waaaaaah I wanted to draw St. George-in-Erik firing guns with magic but I just CAN'T yet! I mean, non-zero chance I'll screw up my first couple illustrations when I can draw again, so I probably shouldn't draw that one first anyway, but I wanna see it. Damn.
IRL, I'm not fond of violence as a solution, but as a writer I appreciate the expedience. BANG-BANG-BANG-BANG-BANG-BANG-BANG-BANG! Okay, and now we have a whole bunch of NEW problems. I suppose that's not really a solution at all, but it's still gonna look cool when you imagine it. That's how come they say it's not possible to make an anti-war movie. You script it and make it part of a narrative and put some good actors and effects in it, and it just looks cool. Can't help it, gotta roll with it.
On the other hand, while Erik certainly doesn't deserve to die for being who he is, you can see why the cops prefer to kill immies on sight. Look what they can do! But, on the third hand, look at what Maggie can do. Nobody's going to unload on her for being magical unless she does something and they see it.
Poor Maggie made a little error and punched Mordecai when she really didn't need to, but if you've been reading you may suspect who (or what) put their finger on the scale, and who helped her shrug off David's little god trick. But to tell you the truth, it's like that because I forgot how magic works when I wrote the first draft. I needed her to punch him in the face! Fortunately, their unseen observer needed her to punch him too. We'll get to that when they get home again.
I was surprised by how little time it took to actually kill everyone. (Ha-ha, there's another one of those things I can only say because I'm a writer.) I was worried it needed to be more epic. The spouse advised me that that's just how it is when only one guy has a working gun in a street fight. It's over. People are dead and that's forever. On to the next thing. Bleh. I don't like the idea of it, but it rings true enough.
John is... not doing well, is he? I'd been planning this scene for years but that caught me off guard. I didn't realize what the situation would look like to him until I got him back inside and George handed him a gun. Well, let's see, Erik's family are right there to help him and he knows that, and he's holding an object that will get him out of the way so Erik can go home. Uh, yeah, why wouldn't he? (Currently writing the next 6 and I've almost got him out of Prokovia, and the plot, for the time being. Jenny will put him back together and Rob will forgive him, but Billie might not...)
Next instalment goes up on Erik's birthday, and mine! It's not birthday-themed or anything, but after all this nonsense his family do finally have enough information to get him home. They just have to put it together!

I mean look at v an jennie to this day both blonks, army deny it jennie should drop V he isn't man enough to boldly claim her Jisoo has more balls an told everyone that actor is her man. Who will be the first idol to stop this dating is a taboo thing because how is dating a scandal fuck wrong korea
The jisoo news is confirmed because they both wanted it to be confirmed.
And honestly I think jennie did her part when she posted those pictures where she was wearing that outfit during Paris walk and photos of that dinner where tae was.
So yeah I think she wants people to know. But its taehyung who's not doing anything about it. I must say he's a coward. Like you both have already been caught and seen, just fucking claim your girl. Jennie is getting slut shamed left and right by armies because obviously it's women who are hated for literally breathing. Nobody says anything to men. Even after she's receiving so much hate because of this, her bf still doesn't have guts enough to announce their relationship.
I remember when tae "accidentally" Followed jennie on insta and armies dragged the poor girl to hell. And then just after that tae said that insta is a scary place and acted like an innocent baby in front of fans as if he wasn't stalking jennie online. Like come on man.
But knowing tae, he's probably scared to announce it because he knows he'll lose his fans. All his fans are either shippers, or a bunch of y/ns. None of his fans actually like his music. It's all about his looks, insta followers, YouTube views or whatever. He knows the moment he announces the relationship he'll lose his fans. Until it's not official, fans can delude themselves into thinking that they were cosplayers or it was a pr stunt. But it's difficult to live in the delusion when taennie will be confirmed by the tae and jennie themselves.
And in the case of blackpink, if they announce their relationship their fans wouldn't have any problem because most of their fans are girls and the fanboys are usually soft hearted, they're very rare but they won't go on Twitter telling others to stay away from their oppa lol.
Jisoos' bf is an actor I don't think male actor's fans are delusional because they're used to seeing them with other women and actors doesn't market themselves as approachable for fans.
Whereas male idols' whole persona is manufactured to service fans. Makes them seem approachable. And make the idols available to fans so much so that fans will star to think that they actually have a chance with their idols.
That's why kpop bg teenage fangirls are so creepy and obsessive. Because to them male idols are perfect and they are actually made to believe that they actually have a chance with them. That's why it's so hard for them to see their idol with other girls. They literally act like their boyfriend cheated on them or something.
So yeah I think this reason also takes a lot of part in the whole taennie situation. But come on. Bts is far away from that phase. We all know they have had relationships and they have sex. Some decent armies are also starting to accept it. And taehyung is an adult ass man. He has enough guts to call fans out for being delusional but then he sees the reaction and backtracks and goes back to feeding them those delusions. It just shows that he's a coward.
There's no way he's gonna make it official anytime soon. Especially when his album is coming.

Jessica Biel for Details Magazine, September 2002
JENNY GAGE AND TOM BETTERTON : When shooting all-American beauty Jessica Biel (page 256), husband-and- wife team Tom Betterton and Jenny Gage wanted to keep things real. "At this point in her career, it seems like everyone wants to sex her up," says Betterton. "But her beauty is very nat- ural." The couple has shot for W, among other magazines, and has a video instal- lation opening at the Luhring Augustine Gallery in New York this month.
"If you don't sign my ass, I'm gonna have to do fifteen shots of Jack Daniel's." Rarely in the course of a lifetime does an individual get a clear opportunity to directly affect the destiny of a complete stranger. For Jessica Biel, the chance to prevent a tragic death—or at least a long, ugly night of toilet hugging-came at 4 A.M. during pledge week of her freshman year at Tufts University.
Emboldened by copious amounts of liquor (and no doubt a few keg stands), a staggering pack of frat boys descended on Biel's dorm room with a mission- to get her to scrawl her name on a pledge's butt. Despite the obscene hour, Biel shook off her initial shock and took Sharpie in hand.
"The poor guy just drops trou and bends over right in front of me," Biel says, trying her best not to blush. "So I reached out and scribbled some illegible thing, and then they took off. You know, I hope they were serious, because I felt really bad. Fifteen shots of Jack? That could kill somebody."
While it's possible that her squeaky-clean work on the WB dramedy 7th Heaven brought her to the attention of Tufts' homy mob of chronic masturbators, more likely it was her ill-fated brush with kiddie-porn infamy when she was 17. Biel sus- pected that her Heaven-sent image had kept her from landing the meaty role in American Beauty that went to Thora Birch. So, at a magazine shoot, she had Frank W. Ockenfels 3 take pictures of her sprawled out in nothing but high heels and a thong. As if the photos weren't saucy enough, the article painted her as a foul- mouthed Lolita trying to bait Aaron Spelling into booting her off the show so she could pursue a proper big-screen career.
Part One of the equation worked like a charm: Soon after the story hit news- stands in March 2000, her character was packed off to do some soul-searching, and returns in just a handful of episodes. But the movie-star part? Well, let's
just say that the resounding thud of her first post-pinup role-Summer Catch- made her realize that there are worse fates than an eternity in Heaven.
"Yes, the pictures were supposed to be a little more mature and sexy than what I'd done before, but it went further than what I expected or wanted it to, she says. "Looking back, I would've made a different choice. I learned a shitload from the experience and grew a lot—but I wouldn't do it again.”
The year at Tufts helped bring her back to earth; tiny Medford, Massachu setts, was the perfect place to plot her next move. "I was pretty depressed, but most of all I was angry that I put myself in that situation," she says. "I never wanted to get off 7th Heaven. I just wanted to go to college."
She'll return to Tufts this fall, but not before giving the movies another shot In October she'll star alongside James Van Der Beek, Shannyn Sossamon, and Kip Pardue in The Rules of Attraction. Based on the Bret Easton Ellis novel, it'sa satiric look at a sexual triangle among friends at a New England liberal-arts col lege. Biel passed on a nude scene, but still manages to play against type-jus like she's always wanted.
"What's most impressive about Jess is that she's really brave when the camera rolls," says Van Der Beek. "There was this one scene where she had to break down and cry, and she nailed it on the first take. She absolutely grabbed the scene by the balls. The girl knows her shit."
Biel admits that returning to the cineplex after her public comeuppance is bit nerve-racking, but she's ready to put the controversy behind her. "You do crazy things when you're 17, and I've changed a lot since then," the 20-year-old says with a smile. "I'm finally ready to show people that there is very different side of me."
The woman in Bungalow 27 at the Topanga Ranch Motel is getting nervous. So is the dandered militia of meowing cats pouring from every loose shingle of her beachfront cottage. She emerges from behind her rusting screen door, kitty tucked under one arm, and steps over an assortment of food-encrusted dishes to size up Biel.
"This isn't a party, is it?" she demands.
Biel names the approaching stranger Cat Woman under her breath, then charms her into submission. "Yes, ma'am," she says, managing to sound more sweet than smarmy. "The frat boys are on their way." Curiosity quenched, the Cat Woman herds her feline conga line back into the house and retreats.
Looking like a SoCal queen with her low-slung jeans and flip-flops, Biel has and arrived at this Pacific-coast hideaway to step in front of a photographer's lens once again. This time around, she'll prove she can turn it on without taking it off. After she wraps up here, she'll hop a plane for Austin to begin filming the just remake of seventies trash classic The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. A horror junkie,
Biel snagged the role by auditioning for producer Michael Bay himself, and she's obviously ecstatic about reimagining Leatherface's sordid tale.
She coils up on the bed of the cramped motel room and rocks back and forth as she excitedly describes one of the scenes.
"I jump out a window and gash my knee, but I'm still running," she explains, eyes wide. "I'm in these semi-stiletto clogs and I trip and twist my ankle. So now I'm bleeding and I've got a busted ankle. But I'm not the typical horror-movie wuss girl-not at all. I get right back up on my feet and keep on running." Falling down and getting back up again? It's something Biel has become pretty damn good at. Leatherface had better watch out.■

Found in my drafts from 2020 and posting now with no edits except a note at the end:
I’m rewatching Call the Midwife for the first time in years (I watched S1-S5??? as they came out), and it’s fascinating. I still love all the characters, and it’s still guaranteed to make me cry at least once an episode.
The thing that’s weird is that...the men’s stories are so much more prominent than I remembered? (I’ve watched S1 and the first Christmas special) There was so much press about how women-focused it is, and how men are peripheral, if anything. Yet just in S1 we have
- a father who may have married his wife when she was a child, and who sometimes speaks for her even though they don’t actually share a language after ~2 decades
- a pimp who continues to actively threaten a pregnant woman, and the men of the church who take her baby away
- two old men with Sad Stories, being supported by two different women who work at Nonnatus house
- multiple love interests (Jimmy, Jenny’s other old flame, Peter, and Trixie’s dates)
- an overprotective new father who makes himself too involved
- the husband of the woman with eclampsia, who Cynthia spends an episode comforting
- all the cops and judges pursuing Sister Monica Joan (even all the shopkeepers who threaten her are men)
- the boy scouts! Chummy runs the boy scouts but nobody’s running Girl Guides?
- Fred gets a whole storyline about his pigs, among his other business attempts
That’s all in just six episodes! I’m not saying any of these storylines are bad, but all of these men get prominent screentime and it’s just in such strong contrast to the early press I remember about the show. Outside of deliveries/nursing work, when do we see the women of the main cast without men on screen?
- Jenny learning all of her lessons about life with poor people and adjusting to live at Nonnatus house, via discussions with various other residents
- Gossipy and/or exhausted discussions about the patients of the week (sort of nursing work, sort of related to Jenny’s Life Lessons)
- The girls getting ready for one night out, including Sister Bernadette’s inner conflict scene in front of the mirror.
- Also the girls helping Chummy get ready for her dates with Peter.
- The nuns at their prayers, and occasionally taking care of order business
IDK how long ago I wrote this so there may have been more, but not enough to outweigh the centrality of men in the stories.

The Changeling Chapter 14
AO3
They all adjust to a baby in the house again. Jenny keeps William, at night, to make it easier to feed him.

“I am so sorry,” Claire says one morning while fetching her son, “you shouldn’t be losing sleep.”

She waves it off. “He is a good sleeper. Nurses and goes right back to sleep. Dinna fash. It is better me than anyone else.”

Claire nods. Until William is old enough to wean, they live in constant worry that they will be found out.

She carries him past the office where his daddy sits at his in da’s desk. He smiles when he sees them pass by.

“How are my wife and son this morning?”

She slips in and closes the door. The servants are all faithful to their Laird still there is no reason to take a chance on being overheard.

“Jenny said he slept well. Waking to nurse then right back to sleep.

“You feel bad she has to do it.”

She nods, biting her bottom lip. “She swears it is no bother but…”

“Sassanch, Jenny has never been one to hold her feelings in. If she says it is no bother, you may believe her.”

That makes her feel a bit better. “Any news from Ned?” She takes a seat across from him.

“I was just going through the post. Let’s see,” he shuffles a few letters, placing some to the side, “Ah!” He looks up meeting her eyes, “Let us see.”

Her breath is held as he slides the letter opener across the letter. He gives it a quick read as his wife glares at him.

“Well?”

“My Dearest James,
I was happy to hear you and your family made it to Lallybroch. I will say your leaving without a word caused quite the stir. Himself was unhappy until I mentioned that you wanted away from Laoghaire. The lass, after all, had made such a scene in the Hall. Mistress Fraser having just giving birth and to such a frail infant, of course you wished your family away. That mollified him.
The lass herself threw such a scene at learning of your departure that Himself had her married off right away. She is Mrs. Mackimmie now, and we say prayers for poor Simon.
As for the other, Lord Abernathy was sorry he missed you. I spoke to him about the delicate matter. He was shocked you had knowledge of it.
The next time I write you, I have a very good feeling that my missive will include a pardon.
Please give my love to Mistress Fraser and Master William.
                                Yours faithfully
                                Ned Gowan”

She squeals causing William to start and start to cry. She rocks him as she shares a hug with Jamie.

“Bless that man!”

“Indeed!”

Answering @septemberofgenders' ask in a new post bc I deleted the original ask on accident.
(under the cut bc I AM SO NORMAL ABT THIS AU)
The general idea is that Luz, King, Willow, and Hunter all somehow end up on Sodor. Gus, Amity, and Vee all stay in the boiling isles though. Another important note is that the "present day" events for the kids on Sodor takes place during the cgi series. Exactly when I'm not certain, but the current idea is maybe a year or two before the BWBA era would've started. I've also debated on pushing TMR to take place a little closer to the beginning of the cgi series for this au, maybe a few years prior to Hunter's arrival.
Luz and Willow both got there around the same time when they were just a few months old each. Luz ended up being adopted by Sir Topham Hatt as his daughter, and Willow became the adopted daughter of Jenny Packard. Neither of them remember anything from their birthplaces, and they actually have completely new names from their adoptive parents, I just haven't solidly decided on their new names yet. So for now I'll call them by their birth names until their new names get decided. Luz loves Sodor and couldn't imagine living anywhere else. She's fully aware that she is adopted but has no urge to seek out her birth family. Why would she need to? She's got everything she could want right here! She's grown up seeing the engines pretty much every morning, the engines' drivers and firemen think she's a good kid, and Luz considers the steam engines to be her family. She especially likes hanging out with Gordon and Thomas, they're likely her favorites out of the entire group. Willow sometimes wonders if her birth parents miss her but tries not to think about it too much. The construction crew considers her their baby sister and they love her to bits, she does have a crush on Hunter, though the two don't see each other that often due to the odd living situation he has. Luz and Willow are the BEST of friends and they go to the same school, Luz would stand up against kids who tried to bully Willow, and Willow would help Luz understand school assignments she struggled to grasp. They're always there for each other and they especially love hanging out during the summer.
Hunter ended up there at 6 years old, he hadn't become old enough for Belos to start doing major damage to him, so he was incredibly desperate to return back to the boiling isles and his "uncle". Mr. Conductor stumbled across the poor kid and when Hunter explained his situation, the kind man offered to look after him and help him find a way back to his home realm…that is until MC noticed that Hunter displayed obvious signs of having grown up in a less than fantastic household. So, MC gave up the search and convinced Hunter to come back to Shining Time with him. MC made sure he got the poor kid a licensed therapist and lots of love so that he might start to heal. Hunter now lives in his own special room at the Shining Time train station as MC’s younger brother. He remembered that he'd been training to be the Golden Guard, so he gave himself the label of the Golden Conductor as he was now training to be a magical conductor like his older brother. He has his own uniform and supply of gold dust, and he's one of the few who knows about Lady's existence. He's definitely a lot better off than canon Hunter was at his age. Hunter remembered his name just fine, so he's pretty much the only one of the crew who keeps his birth name (again, King, Willow, and Luz's new names are undecided).
King was transported there when he was just a year old. In this au, Eda had found him not long after he'd hatched, and she took him home to raise him as he'd reached out to her just as any baby witch would. Her poor heart just couldn't say no to the little guy. He was her whole world and she'd constantly brag to her friends about her adorable little "demon" son, whom she'd named King, and he made her life so much better. Which is why Eda became a shambled mess when King disappeared and she couldn't find him. She became a rough and closed off witch, doubling down on her criminal acts and hesitating less to attack coven members as she was confident they had taken King from her. Eventually she met with Raine again and the two became allied, slowly re-kindling their relationship…and then Darius crashed in and became the third member of the alliance! Raine and Darius are pretty much two of the only people that Eda trusts nowadays. She's a pretty closed off person and both of her partners (yes they are a polycule in this au, I am not immune okay-) worry about her a lot, but they do their best to help her out with the grief that she just can't seem to let go of. Eda's commonly referred to as "The Owl Witch", as the emperor didn't think "owl lady" was serious enough. She's not just a lady, she's a dangerous wild witch with a curse that turns her into a monster that only two people can control…but Belos has never seen the faces of her two assistants. They're always wearing masks to hide…
King, however, has a very happy and comfortable life on the island of Sodor. While he was a very strange and shocking surprise that Luz brought home one night, King became a welcomed addition to the Hatt family and was treated just as Luz had been: one of their own. He's much more comfortable wearing clothes as Eda had put him in onesies when she had him and the Hatt family kept it up, he's one distinguished little guy! He's pretty close with Topham's grandkids, seeing as they're closer in age than King is to his older sisters and brother, especially considering that Charles and Barbara are both adults and don't live with their parents anymore. He and Luz do know them though! They get along pretty well. *Important Note: King's horn wasn't broken in this au, he very much still has both horns with no damage to either of them.
Amity ended up being the one to find and comfort Gus back in the isles. He clung to her from then on out, and Amity became his protector against bullies. They train together and Gus is a lot less insecure about his illusion magic having Amity at his side, he's the only one that she's soft around, and she's constantly encouraging him to get better and showing him books to improve with. They're pretty inseparable, and the only reason Amity's parents don't disapprove is because Odalia had witnessed Gus' power firsthand once. The kid's got a lot of potential, it just needs to be trained.
