Global Poultry Market Size Worth USD 628510 Million By 2030 | Growth Rate (CAGR) of 7.50%
Tumblr media
The Global Poultry Market size was reasonably estimated to be approximately USD 378840 Million in 2023 and is poised to generate revenue over USD 628510 Million by the end of 2030, projecting a CAGR of around 7.50% from 2023 to 2030.
Poultry refers to domesticated birds raised for various purposes, including meat, eggs, and feathers. Chickens, ducks, turkeys, and geese are the most common types of poultry. Poultry farming has a long history and plays a crucial role in the global food industry. Chickens are the most widely raised poultry worldwide, with broilers bred for meat production and layers for egg production.
Broiler chickens are selected to grow quickly and efficiently convert feed into meat, making them a primary source of poultry meat. Layer chickens, on the other hand, are raised in specialized facilities and produce a significant number of eggs throughout their productive lifespan. These eggs are a valuable protein source and are consumed in various forms.
Ducks, turkeys, and geese are also raised for their meat and eggs, although their production levels are generally lower compared to chickens. Duck meat is known for its rich flavor, while turkey meat is popular during festive occasions. Geese are primarily raised for their meat and feathers, which are used in down products.

Going through the bills proposed in the kentucky 2024 legislative session and some of the things being proposed are
make a PFAS Working Group
require homeless shelters to provide free menstrual products (it's actually disturbing that they didn't already)
require schools to provide free menstrual products
create harm reduction centers and lower penalties for possessing controlled substances
require insurance to pay for cancer screenings (okay. low bar but okay)
abolish the death penalty (actually has a couple republican sponsors)
decriminalize cannabis
make fluoridation of water in districts optional (?????)
make coal the "state rock" of Kentucky
Prohibit children from being interrogated in a "deceptive manner" (?)
Make weight discrimination illegal
pay schools to food grown at kentucky farms to provide for school meals at low income schools (hey that's rad)
Lower the age of carrying a concealed deadly weapon from 21 to 18 (?????????????)
Require companies to give their employees earned paid sick leave
Impose restrictions on the collection of biometric data by private entities
Allow poultry to be sold at farmers' markets and at farms
pay for cancer screenings for firefighters
let pregnant incarcerated people have midwives or doula services
require that public high school curriculum include instruction on the history of racism
Remove Robert E. Lee Day, Confederate Memorial Day, and Jefferson Davis Day from the list of public holidays (WE HAVE THOSE?!!?!?!)
Retroactively expunge some cannabis convictions
"Prohibit public school districts from expanding any resources or funds on diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging or political or social activism; prohibit public school districts from engaging in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging" (HUH?????)
require schools to give kids a lunch period of at least 30 minutes (the bar is in hell)
provide scholarships for teachers to help the teacher shortage and give teachers compensation for planning time
require schools to have defibrillators
make it so a homeless person doesn't have to pay to get a copy of their birth certificate
require a working smoke detector to be present in any house sold (...did we not already have this?)
create the Kentucky Urban Farming Youth Initiative
Require local governments to lower minimum square footage requirements for housing, and facilitate multifamily housing, manufactured housing, and "tiny homes," and require that zoning laws have a "substantial connection to protection of public safety, health, and usage of property" (This could be a good thing??)
require hiring and licensing authorities to allow people convicted of a crime an opportunity to get a job
Propose a new section of the Kentucky Constitution that guarantees the right of an individual to buy, sell, or use a certain amount of cannabis and to grow a small amount of cannabis plants, and put this on the ballot (LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOO LET THE PEOPLE DECIDE please this would be so funny)
Now let's watch how many of the good and basic common sense laws get left to die by Republicans because Republicans are ghouls
this is why it's important to vote in local elections, this is the kind of stuff that's being decided upon

how do the m6 act when they're feeling petty??? and how does mc deal with it?
The Arcana HCs: M6 being petty
~ how do I begin to say how much I love writing about these lovely characters being typically human? Thanks for the prompt anon, enjoy! - brainrot ~
Julian
He acts petty about the smaller things as a way of being silly. He can hold onto a hurt, but he prefers to deal with that stuff more directly
You see it come out the most with his younger sister Pasha
She'll be rolling her eyes at him, telling him he's an idiot and she doesn't need his help
He'll be cleaning up after dinner with her and put everything away on the top shelves
She'll get annoyed and start telling him to pull them back down for her: "I know you know what you're doing wrong, Ilya!"
"What's that? I'm just your idiot older brother, Pasha, since when do I know what I'm doing?"
"I mean it! Take them down for me now, you know I can't reach up there!"
"I thought you didn't need my help."
He'll be giving her his usual rogueish grin, casually dodging her swipes at his kneecaps as he pulls everything back down
He wants to get his point across though, so he'll use the opportunity to reorganize her kitchen while she's distracted
Now the dish towels are in the oven and the sugar and salt are mixed up. He might even dose Pepi with some catnip on the way out
Asra
For someone with such a chillaxed approach to life, they are surprisingly easy to annoy
And yes, he gets petty when he's irritated
It rarely happens with you (usually when you're trying to annoy them on purpose), and then his petty retaliation prank is just for show (or to make a gentle point)
But if it's someone being genuinely maddening, maybe a Karen in the market place or a self-important jerk cutting in line?
Barely detectable spells designed to make them question reality in a decidedly unpleasant, but harmless way
The Karen screaming about the pumpkin bread being overbaked is suddenly under a 30 minute enchantment that makes her say the opposite of what she intends to
You've never heard anyone serve compliments so angrily: "Exceptional service! This bread is flawless! You're not being unreasonable, I am!" All while slowly turning purple with rage
And oh no, look at that, the guy who shouldered his way in front of you moments ago just made a beeline for the public lavatory, almost like he has sudden diarrhea
"Oh no, MC," Asra whispers quietly in your ear, dimples dancing, "Oh nooo ..."
Nadia
She gets petty when she feels like she's been insulted or underestimated
It's not her best look, but she has a lot of pent-up resentment about feeling constantly humiliated by her older sisters
So of course, that's what she does to the unfortunate nobleman who tries to mansplain his way out of taking care of his tenants in front of her court
She'll pull out the file of information she's gathered and grill him with no mercy: "You currently own 4 properties valued at ____, correct? And you charge your tenants ____ per month?"
You watch him go pale and gulp, "er, yes, Countess. But with the rain, building costs-"
"Your maintenance to date is estimated at costing you ____, leaving over 50 separate complaints unaddressed, some of which are several years old. If my numbers are correct, (and they are always correct, nobleman) you still have _____ in profits. That should easily cover the estimated ____ required to restore acceptable living conditions. I expect to receive a glowing report from your tenants next quarter. Will there be any issues?"
She usually feels guilty afterwards, but you can't blame her. It's just so gratifying
Muriel
He can hold a grudge, but his brand of petty is hard to notice until you get to know him better
It'll only happen with people he trusts, when they do something he disapproves of
For example, the time Asra visited and decided to feed the chickens some breadcrumbs soaked in mead. Just for fun
Watching tipsy poultry stagger and drunkenly cluck around your front yard was hilarious, but also a little sad
And Muriel doesn't appreciate it when someone disrespects nature. Even Asra
He'll sulk. It's a little comedic to watch a full grown man give someone the cold shoulder and huff and stomp his way around the hut, but it's surprisingly effective
Especially when Inanna joins in, skulking by his side and shooting the occasional disdainful glare
Asra crumbles when Faust sides with them, riding on Inanna's back and blepping at her master reproachfully
"Alright, alright, I'm sorry! I shouldn't have -" *giggle* "I shouldn't have intoxicated your chickens! It was very rude of me."
Really the apology is all Muriel wants, he'll stop sulking and maybe laugh about it later
Portia
She gets petty when someone comments on an insecurity of hers without meaning to
Being the younger sister of a charismatic older brother means that she *hates* being compared to him
She'll be enjoying drinks with you one evening at the Rowdy Raven, and one of the local regulars will make the wrong comment
"Hey, it's Devorak's little sister! Look at you carrying all those drinks, I bet you can hold your liquor almost as well as he can."
Uh oh. It's on.
She'll turn, smiling sweetly, and challenge him to a drinking contest in front of the whole tavern. He'll need help getting home
She won't stop there, either. After that it's arm wrestling, darts, even an insult war in which you hear some of the most creative roasts you've ever come across
All as her Nevivon accent gets thicker and thicker, curls flying and eyes sparking with triumph as she demolishes poor fool after poor fool
She'll be embarrassed about getting so carried away the next morning while she's nursing her hangover
It's worth it because Julian is now known at the Raven as "Miss Portia's older brother"
Lucio
In the same way that he only throws his tantrums cathartically, his pettiness is his other method of handling his short temper
On one hand, you're proud of him. It's a big improvement from ordering someone's execution because he didn't like what they said about him
On the other hand, it's hard to take him seriously when his response to an unwelcome comment is to mimick it back in their faces because he can't come up with a witty comeback
He'll be passing back by a merchant he tried to haggle with earlier when their shop assistant makes a friendly jab at him
"Hey, Mr Adventurer! You back for that deal, or is it still too much?"
He'll barely miss a beat spluttering before he whirls around and responds in a squeaky mocking voice at the top of his lungs:
"Hey shopkeep! You back for that deal, or am I still too much?"
Apparently, the teenaged assistant in question is gifted in both good humor and snark. There's a crowd gathering for the free entertainment and it's fueling both of them
Neither of them seem afraid of being immature in public so you wait it out at the nearby tea stand until they're satisfied
(If you liked Lucio's part, I highly recommend the meme my lovely mutual sent me based off of it here)

“The market for farm products increased dramatically in urban areas because city dwellers had less ability or need to produce farm goods themselves. Before 1800, town and city dwellers often kept poultry and livestock in their backyards or on the town common, and they kept a well-stocked garden going as well. As cities grew, leading citizens worked to ban animals that had become health problems and nuisances. As land became more scarce and more expensive, the working class was forced into crowded tenement apartments.
Because of these changes, women in cities like Boston and New York were no longer making the farm products that their grandmothers had. But the new manufacturing technology had done little to transform life for most city women. For working-class women, the new cash economy made life harder and meaner. Then as now, women earned far less than men and were grouped into industries, such as textile, millinery (hat-making) and shoe-making, that were recognized as primarily ‘women’s work.’ A New York charity reported in 1817, ‘The great disproportion which exists between the price of labor of men and women is a matter of serious regret.’
…The problem was that conditions for working men were not much better than for women. Although they were paid more than women, most working-class men brought in just enough money to provide the basics. Any unforeseen emergency, such as a medical problem, could send a family to the poorhouse. If the man was too sick to work, or injured on the job, the family could starve. With little access to medical care, and with abysmal working conditions, death was an ever-present possibility. Such protections as unemployment insurance, Social Security, and Medicare were a century away. Given these pressures on the head breadwinner, many a man abandoned his wife and children for a fresh start in another town. His family, meanwhile, was left with few ways to survive.
…After 1800, elite society came to expect that ‘ladies’ would refrain from menial chores around the house. One domestic writer observed, ‘Women might work, but not ladies; or when the latter undertook it, they ceased to be such.’ There was thus an ever-widening gulf between mistress and servant during this period, and the domestic was made to understand this difference in rank. The growing distance between mistress and domestic led to numerous tensions between the two. Advice about the home in the newly popular magazines written for women increasingly described the role of the lady of the house as being a manager. She was to ensure that those beneath her performed their duties exactly as she prescribed them.
…Many working women chafed under such tight supervision. They felt that while domestic work paid well, the job just wasn’t worth it. Many women fell back on domestic work when all other options were unavailable. Some domestics even chose prostitution rather than submit to the orders of a mistress. Though opportunities for prostitution ranged from high-class hotel establishments to the lowest waterfront saloon side-rooms, all prostitutes were vulnerable to a wide range of sexual diseases. Those women plying their trade independently, or in the less genteel establishments, were especially vulnerable to violence by customers, proprietors, or criminals.
When working women chose prostitution over domestic service, they were rejecting in no uncertain terms the moral assumptions of middle-class America. It was a choice most mistresses explained away by pointing to the ‘natural’ moral laxness of the poor. Certainly, upper-class women were not ready to admit that servants were so scarce because working conditions were so trying. Domestics became even more scarce in the 1820s, after the development of power mills in New England. These mills provided American women with their first opportunity at respectable, relatively safe work at reasonable wages.
…Mill workers believed they were in a partnership with the owner--subordinate partners, to be sure, but nonetheless members of the company who were crucial to the success of the business. When owners responded to increased competition and poor business conditions with sharp reductions in wages and increases in the rents they charged in their boardinghouses, many women workers were outraged, As conditions continued to decline during the 1840s, mill owners began to turn to recent immigrant women, such as the Irish, who would accept lower pay and more work.
…Slave women, of course, had even less choice of jobs and working satisfaction. Their master or mistress usually determined which tasks they would perform. Women were sent to the fields just as men were, and they were expected to do their share of the work. Slaveholders cared little about preserving a ‘women’s sphere’ for field workers. …A small percentage of the slave work force, about 5 to 10 percent, worked in the ‘Big House,’ as the plantation manor was called. Most of these workers were women, who labored as cooks or maids.
…White southern plantation women, while certainly benefitting from slave labor, also were responsible for much of the plantation’s labor. Whereas the master hired an overseer to do much of the dirty work, the mistress was in effect the overseer of the Big House, including the tending of livestock and poultry and the production of food and clothing. Additionally, the mistress took on a number of tasks for which she did not trust her slaves. Even the most privileged mistress had to take on fairly strenuous tasks from time to time, such as processing the various by-products of slaughtered animals.”

The plight of Kenya's jobless youth: A story of hope and despair.
By Emmanuel Okiru, 17 November 2023
Kenya is facing a serious challenge of youth unemployment, which affects millions of young people who are either out of work or stuck in low-quality and informal jobs. According to the World Bank, the youth unemployment rate in Kenya was 13.35 percent in 2022, among the highest in the world. The situation is worse in urban areas, where the youth unemployment rate was 19.1 percent in 2009, the latest year for which data is available.
The causes of youth unemployment are complex and multifaceted, ranging from a slow-growing economy, a mismatch between the skills of the labor force and the demands of the market, a lack of access to capital and credit, and a high population growth rate that outstrips the creation of new jobs. Moreover, the COVID-19 pandemic has exaggerated the problem, as many businesses have closed down or reduced their operations, leading to massive layoffs and income losses.
However, despite all these, there are also stories of hope and resilience among the Kenyan youth who are trying to overcome the barriers and create opportunities for themselves and others. Some of them have benefited from various initiatives and programs that aim to provide them with skills, training, mentorship and funding to start and grow their own businesses or find decent employment.
One such program is the Youth Enterprise Development Fund (YEDF), which was established by the government in 2006 to support youth entrepreneurship and innovation. The fund offers loans, grants and business development services to youth groups and individuals who have viable business ideas or existing enterprises. According to the fund's website, over 12 billion Kenyan shillings has been disbursed to more than 1.4 million youth since its inception.
One of the beneficiaries of the YEDF is Mary Wanjiku, a 24-year-old who runs a poultry farm in Kiambu County. She started her business in 2019 with 100 chicks, after receiving a loan of 50,000 shillings from the fund. She has since expanded her farm to 500 birds and sells eggs and chicken to local hotels and supermarkets. She has also employed two other young people to help her with the daily operations.
"I am very grateful to the YEDF for giving me this opportunity to start and grow my business. It has changed my life and given me a sense of purpose and dignity. I am able to support myself and my family, and also create jobs for other youth in my community," this is what she had to say in an interview with the Kenyan disclosure team.
This is just an example of how some Kenyan youth are coping with the challenge of unemployment and how some programs are trying to address it. However, there is still a lot that needs to be done to create more and better opportunities for the millions of young people who are still struggling to find their place in the society and the economy.

Market Hall, Chipping Campden, Cotswolds by Baz Richardson (catching up again) As we are spending a few weeks at home (for a change!) it has given me an opportunity to go back through my archives and see if there are any shots that I think might be worth processing and posting. This one was taken in Chipping Campden in the Cotswolds when we visited in June 2020. This beautiful market town originally became prosperous through the wool trade. The Grade I-listed Market Hall in the High Street dates from 1627 and was built for Sir Baptist Hicks - a major benefactor of the town. The hall was intended to provide shelter from the elements for merchants and farmers selling goods like cheese, butter, and poultry. The side walls were open arches to allow light, and customers, access to the market stalls. The floor of the market hall was made of simple cobbles, now worn smooth by the passage of time and thousands of feet. The building is Grade I-listed for its historic importance. It is owned by the National Trust. https://flic.kr/p/2ob5bpM

Hydrocolloids Market Growth Drivers, Trends, Share, Recent Developments, and Leading Players
The global hydrocolloids market is projected to be valued at USD 11.2 billion in 2023 and is expected to grow to USD 14.5 billion by 2028, reflecting a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.4% during this period. Hydrocolloids are a category of biopolymers commonly utilized in food technology to enhance quality attributes and extend shelf life. They play a vital role in various food formulations, serving as thickeners in soups, gravies, salad dressings, sauces, and toppings, as well as water retention agents, stabilizers, emulsifiers, and gel-forming agents in products like jams, jellies, marmalades, restructured foods, and low-sugar gels. The increasing demand for clean-label products driven by health and wellness trends, along with the growth of the ready meal and convenience food sectors, is expected to propel market expansion.
Tumblr media
Hydrocolloids Market Drivers: Multifunctionality of hydrocolloids to lead to wide range of applications
Among the various biopolymers, hydrocolloids are extensively used in food technology to enhance quality and extend shelf life. They are commonly incorporated into food formulations across a range of products, such as soups, salad dressings, gravies, sauces, jellies, jams, restructured foods, marmalades, and low-calorie gels. Hydrocolloids also play a crucial role in preventing the formation of sugar and ice crystals in ice cream and in managing flavor release. In the baking industry, they improve food texture and moisture retention, which helps delay starch retrogradation and enhances overall product quality during storage. Recently, certain hydrocolloids have gained attention for their ability to act as fat replacers, enabling the creation of low-calorie products. Their addition has been shown to improve the texture, thickening, and water retention of gluten-free bakery items. For instance, using xanthan gum in gluten-free bread made from a starch blend of rice flour, corn starch, and sodium caseinate yields favorable results in rheological testing. Consequently, the growing demand for gluten-free bakery products is expected to further boost the need for hydrocolloids in the food industry.
Hydrocolloids Market Opportunities: Emerging markets in Asia Pacific and Africa
The growing global population is intensifying the demand for the production, management, and conservation of precious resources. High energy costs and rising raw material prices are significantly affecting low-income consumers by driving up food prices. Additionally, water shortages are placing further strain on food supplies, particularly in Africa and Northern Asia. However, the large-scale production of hydrocolloids in these regions, combined with advancements in science and technology, offers small and medium-sized food and beverage manufacturers an opportunity to incorporate clean label ingredients into their products. This trend is expected to contribute positively to the growth of the hydrocolloids market.
Gelatin is Expected to Capture the Largest Share of the Hydrocolloids Market Throughout the Study Period.
The gelatin segment is expected to lead the market; however, as awareness of health and environmental issues increases, consumers are increasingly gravitating toward plant-based hydrocolloids. A significant factor anticipated to substantially impact the size of the hydrocolloids in food market during the forecast period is the rapid rise in the global population of overweight and obese individuals. There is a growing demand for food products that maintain desirable texture, flavor, and aroma while containing lower levels of fat, sugar, and salt.
Food and beverages are projected to hold the largest market share during the research period based on application.
Hydrocolloids play a crucial role in enhancing the cooking yield, texture, and slicing characteristics of beef and poultry products. Carrageenan is commonly used to retain moisture and preserve the natural texture of meat, while also increasing viscosity. On the other hand, agar helps reduce the fat content in meat products. Xanthan gum serves as a thickening and stabilizing agent, while gelatin improves the appearance of meat and helps gel the liquids in processed hams. The inclusion of alginate enhances the texture and overall quality of meat products. Additionally, pectin and locust bean gum act as fat replacers, and guar gum functions as a binder and lubricant in various meat products.
North America is Dominates the Hydrocolloids Market Share.
North America is expected to capture the largest share of the global hydrocolloids market. This demand is largely driven by the region's dietary preferences, particularly for ingredients that help reduce oil and fat content in food. Hydrocolloids act as a barrier against the oils and fats prevalent in popular breaded and fried dishes. By utilizing hydrocolloids, calorie-rich fats can be replaced with what is essentially structured water. As consumers increasingly seek out low-oil and low-fat options, the effective use of hydrocolloids meets this demand. Consequently, the hydrocolloids sector in the U.S. is projected to experience significant growth, fueled by the rising number of health-conscious individuals.
