Princess Ingrid Alexandra’s 18th Birthday Gifts
The Norwegian royal court has released the annual public gift list and the gifts received by Princess Ingrid Alexandra for her 18th birthday are included. They released a list and some photos this summer but this one is a little more detailed. Someone sent it to me and I realized that I never made a post about the jewelry she received like I did for her confirmation a couple of years ago so here it is.
King Harald & Queen Sonja
Diamond Ring - The ring was formerly a gift to Queen Sonja from her parents, Karl August and Dagny Haraldsen, in 1954.
Tumblr media
Diamond Bracelet - This was originally owned by Crown Princess Märtha and then by Princess Ragnhild. The bracelet along with the earrings and necklace below are items that were returned to the mainline after Princess Ragnhild passed away in 2012 and are now being given to Princess Ingrid Alexandra.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Earrings - They belonged to Crown Princess Märtha and then to Princess Ragnhild. I’m not sure which earrings these are because they didn’t release a picture.
Necklace - This is the most exciting item to me and the person who sent me the list since it had a bunch of emojis next to it. A picture was not released so we don’t know which necklace it is just that it belonged to Queen Maud and then to Princess Ragnhild. Princess Ragnhild had several that I don’t know the provenance of like this emerald necklace and Queen Maud had several that are lost in the wind like the Pearl Necklace Tiara and the ruby necklace from Queen Victoria. If I had to guess I would say that it’s not any of those and probably a diamond rivière necklace. There are multiple ones in the family that belonged to Queen Maud and at least one that went to Princess Ragnhild but they are really impossible to tell apart so keep an eye out for Princess Ingrid Alexandra wearing one.
King Willem Alexander & Queen Maxima of the Netherlands - January Birthstone Multi Ring Garnet by Anna+Nina
Tumblr media
Crown Prince Frederik & Crown Princess Mary of Denmark - Esme Galaxy Earrings by Dulong Fine Jewelry
Tumblr media
Princess Elisabeth of Belgium, Duchess of Brabant - Ruby, Pearl, & Blue Topaz Moon Earrings by Percossi Papi
Tumblr media
Sámi Parliament - Fápmu Earrings, Ring, and Necklace and Árbevierru Hair Clip by Erica Huuva
Tumblr media
Sámi Parliament's Youth Policy Committee - Komsekule (a traditional Sámi design meant to offer protection) Earrings and Necklace by Juhls Silver Gallery
Tumblr media
Norwegian Children and Youth Council - Coco Pearl Necklace by Biehl
Tumblr media
The Crown Prince Couple’s Foundation - daisy bracelet by Georg Jensen (They didn’t release a picture of this one and Georg Jensen makes several different daisy bracelets but I assume it’s one of the classic gold with white enamel styles like these.)
Tumblr media
Princess Ingeborg’s Pearl Circle Tiara was not included in the annual gift list which is only for public and official gifts not private ones but we know that it was given to her for her 18th birthday by Haakon, Ingeborg, and Ragnhild Lorentzen at the request of their mother, Princess Ragnhild.

*A nurse is typing in PM Anderssen’s vitals as the doctors discuss his condition*
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Katrina: Why did this happen, Min Kärlek? I can’t fathom what Ingeborg is going through. Eric: I don’t know, Min Älsking. But what I do know is that I’m gonna find who’s responsible for this. *Eric and Katrina enter the room* Ingeborg: Your Majesties? I didn’t expect you here.
Tumblr media
Katrina: We heard everything from Stack. He’s in bad shape, isn’t he, Ingeborg?
Tumblr media
Ingeborg: The doctor said he’s in stable condition, but they’re still gonna keep him in a medically-induced coma until any swelling he has in his head is gone. How could this have happened, Your Majesty? What sick demented monster would do such a thing?
Tumblr media
Eric: That’s what we want to know, too. Have the police spoken to you, yet? Ingeborg: Yes, they have. They collected evidence of the crime scene, actually. They found tire tracks belonging to a pickup truck in our backyard, but that’s all they could find. I just hope Lars can wake up soon, and coherent enough to tell us who did this. Who shot him and took my daughter. Astrid should be at home, spending time with us and her siblings.
Tumblr media
Katrina: I feel your pain, Ingeborg. We should be celebrating Susanna’s 26th birthday, tonight. And yet, no word on her whereabouts still. Wherever they are, I hope they’re safe.
Tumblr media
Eric: You have my word, Anderssen. I’m gonna find the sonofabitch who did this to you and Astrid.

Princess Margareta of Sweden, born 25 June 1899.
Princess Margareta was a second cousin of OTMAA through the Danish line; her mother Ingeborg was the daughter of Maria Feodorovna's eldest brother Frederick. She and her sisters, Marta and Astrid, met OTMAA a few times in their childhood, and Margareta seemed to keep in touch with Maria Nikolaevna in particular, likely because they were almost exactly the same age; Margareta was only one day older. Letters exist from Margareta to "dear cousin Marie."

Royal Tiaras Highlights: Princess Ingeborg of Sweden's Pearl Circle Tiara
This tiara was created by Boucheron and shown at the Exposition Universelle, held in 1900 in Paris. Prince Carl of Sweden bought it for his wife, Princess Ingeborg. The original piece was reportedly only composed of interlocking diamond circles set in platinum and the large pearls were added later on.
The tiara was eventually inherited by Ingeborg’s granddaughter, Princess Ragnhild of Norway. Ragnhild moved to Brazil with her husband Erling Lorentzen, where she remained until her death 59 years later. The tiara was inherited by her children, and it remained unseen until Princess Ingrid Alexandra’s 18th birthday portraits were released in 2022. It was then announced that the Lorentzen family gifted her the tiara as a birthday present, with Princess Astrid saying Princess Ragnhild wanted Ingrid Alexandra to have their grandmother’s tiara.

Chronicon Romualdi II, archiepiscopi Salernitani, p. 16
Beatrice was born around 1135 in the county of Rethel (northern France) from Gunther (also know as Ithier) de Vitry, earl of Rethel, and Beatrice of Namur.
On her mother’s side, Beatrice descended from Charlemagne (through his son, Louis the Pious), while on the paternal side she was a grandniece of Baldwin II King of Jerusalem (her paternal grandmother Matilda, titular Countess of Rethel, was the King’s younger sister). The Counts of Rethel were also vassals of the powerful House of Champagne, known for its successful marriage politics (Count Theobald IV of Blois-Champagne’s daughter, Isabelle, would marry in 1143 Duke Roger III of Apulia, eldest son of King Roger II of Sicily).
In 1151, Beatrice married this same Roger. The King of Sicily was at his third marriage at this point. His first wife had been Elvira, daughter of King Alfonso VI the Brave of León and Castile and of Galicia, who bore him six children (five sons and one daughter). However, when four of his sons (Roger, Tancred, Alphonse and the youngest, Henry) died before him, leaving only William as his heir, Roger II must have feared for his succession. In 1149, the King then married Sibylla, daughter of Duke Hugh II of Burgundy. She bore him a son, Henry (named after his late older brother), and two years later died of childbirth complications giving birth to a stillborn son. As this second Henry died young too, Roger thought about marrying for a third (and hopefully last) time.
It is possible that Roger’s choice of his third wife had been influenced by the future bride’s family ties with the Crusader royalties as Beatrice was related with both Queen Melisende of Jerusalem and the Queen’s niece Constance of Hauteville, ruling Princess of Antioch. Constance was also a first cousin once removed of Roger, who had (unsuccessfully) tried to snatch the Antiochian principality from her when her father Bohemond II was killed in battle 1130, leaving his two years old daughter as heir.
Beatrice bore Roger only a daughter, Constance, who was born in Palermo on November 2nd 1154. This baby girl (who would one day become Queen of Sicily) never knew her father as he died on February 26th.
Nothing certain is known about her widowed life, although we can suppose she took care of her only daughter. Beatrice died in Palermo on March 30th 1185, living enough to see  Constance being betrothed to Emperor Frederick Barbarossa’s son, Henry.
The body of the Dowager Queen was laid to rest in the Chapel of St. Mary Magdalene, together with her predecessor, Elvira, and her step-children, Henry, Tancred, Alphonse and Roger. Through her daughter, Beatrice would become Emperor Frederick II’s grandmother.

Princess Ingrid Alexandra's First Tiara
According to Trond Norén Isaksen, a Norwegian royal historian who has close ties to the family, Princess Ingrid Alexandra has been given Princess Ingeborg's Pearl Circle Tiara as an 18th birthday present!
Tumblr media
The tiara was made by Boucheron in 1900 for their display at the Exposition Universelle in Paris. Prince Carl of Sweden saw the tiara and bought it for his wife Princess Ingeborg. It was later adapted to include three pearl elements that may have belonged to Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna the Younger.
Tumblr media
Princess Ingeborg (above left) gave the tiara to her granddaughter, Princess Ragnhild (above right), but before that it was worn by two of her daughters, Crown Princess Märtha of Norway (below left) and Princess Margaretha of Denmark (below right). Princess Ingeborg is Princess Ingrid Alexandra's great-great grandmother.
Tumblr media
The story was always that of Princess Ragnhild's two tiaras, Queen Maud's Diamond Tiara would go back to the mainline of the family and the Pearl Circle Tiara would stay with her descendants since it was never really part of the Norwegian collection. It's unclear if the tiara was inherited by King Harald after Ragnhild died in 2012, if he bought it from his sister's family, or if it was a gift from the Lorentzens. If anyone lives in Norway and reads Se og Hør, let me know if there's any more information.
I generally don't believe these kinds of stories in magazines but Isaksen is very trustworthy. I hope it's true because I want this it to belong to the Norwegian royals going forward. It's decent size tiara but the design is so light that I think it will work well for a young princess so long as she has some good tiara hair. I can't wait for Princess Ingrid Alexandra's 18th birthday gala on June 17th!
Update: According to the article, the tiara was a gift from Haakon, Ingeborg and Ragnhild Lorentzen to IA. That is a very generous gift from second cousins (or maybe third, I never know how to count cousins) first cousins once removed but the Lorentzens are very wealthy and they said that they had no need of a tiara anymore. Isaksen also hinted that this was not the only tiara Ingrid Alexandra received for her birthday so it's possible her grandfather gifted her one as well.

certain things were undeniably true – that the sky was blue, or that grass was green. or that, perhaps, probably, most certainly – she loves Krishna more than anybody else she’d ever met. And that this fact would remain her own – to be held in her hands and softly tended to in secret, but never to be uttered aloud / there was not much else that could make krish feel so elated as making prudence smile. if the both of them had not devoted their entire lives to this cause, where lives hang in the balance daily, she might have devoted hers to the simplicity of making her smile the way she had growing up.
