So here are my in-the-moment thoughts about the experimental Spartan-IVs with Raya and Lana making a brief appearance.

I am 100% here if y'all have opinions or ideas too, I would love to hear them. This is just my take on it.

We hardly know anything about the experimental phase of the Spartan-IV project, what's canon is that it lasted 2 years and there was a brief moment with Ilsa Zane but that's it.

However, I've been thinking about it and they would've needed a test group of volunteers. I personally think there were two, the group in 2548, which was Raya's group. and then 2549, which was Lana's. While Musa and Jun were in charge of the official Spartan-IV recruitment, the experimental IVs were mainly picked by a board of ONI scientists, Musa and Parangosky. They needed to be very selective with this group, files upon files were shuffled through.

It's also noteworthy that not a single one of the experimental IVs got all their augmentations at once, ONI needed to watch to see how each person reacted to each procedure, so it couldn't have been done immediately, especially after the IIsa Zane incident. All these files are currently redacted.

The first group was the trial group, they needed UNSC personnel who had an outstanding mission record, more so looking towards the ODSTs and seeing who has served the longest and who they could "fix" with augmentations. Example A, Raya was part of the eight other candidates that were offered the original Spartan II augmentation for their eyes. Three of them ended up permanently blind while five were successes. In the end, there were a handful of deaths and complications with this group, but was an overall success to continue to the next phase.

The second group was ONI personnel, teams that could drop in and out of missions and knew how to keep their mouths shut. These were the ones Parangosky mainly picked, the ones she trusted to get missions done, ODSTs that had worked under her for years, and most importantly, ones that didn't have a group of teammates, lonewolfs if you would. Alot of them were Section 3 such as Lana, the ones that knew how to disappear and not say a word. These ones went smoother than the first group but ONI still tried to use Spartan II and III augmentations, or rather, a more subdued version that eventually became the building blocks for the Spartan-IV argumentations.

The three years before the actual Spartan-IV program started was an observation period. These Spartans were sent on hand-picked missions and would go through tests and scans as soon as they got back, from their diets, to how their bodies were growing with the augmentation and this is where ONI picked and chose what to make the official augmentation list.

I guess in a way, you can say they are genetic freaks. Hardly any two of the experimental Spartan-IV have the same exact augmentations. However, this led to the experiment IVs being really proud of themselves and their teammates, not in an 'I'm better than you way' but we've survived while not everyone did. Every couple of years these IVs get called in for testing to make sure nothing abnormal has happened, as of today many of them are still active and I want to say the end number was around 75 or 76 of these Spartans.

Hey there, all you Nintendo fan artists! My friends over on DeviantArt, Twitter and Tumblr are hosting a Xenoblade Chronicles collab in which the theme is camping and scout troops. Call it Xenoscouts if you will.

After some discussion and support from various allies, my friend NinGemTitan decided to come out of retirement and host this smaller-scale collaboration. In this project, artists will draw Xenoblade Chronicles characters as scouts (like real life childhood) camping peacefully but wearing creatively designed individual uniforms. Camping is one idea that may not have been used often, so this could be fresh fun. Note that only protagonists are allowed, for the sake of peace.

The background should depict a forest (during an ambiguous season) with a cabin/tents and a campfire. One artist can volunteer and make it 8000 x 4000. Maybe a Titan or two would be fitting.

Rules (subject to change):

Please ask me for a character first, and then you can add yourself to the list, unless you want me to type your name on the list for you.

Entries must be colored and full-body (unless a camping object is in front of them).

No overly invasive watermarks. Small signatures and such will suffice.

If you wish to send me the non-watermarked versions privately (through a DM), that is perfectly fine.

Each entry in the list must be separate, for arrangement freedom.

Be creative in making your scout uniform designs, as I want you to put in full effort and have fun with your entries.

Please describe what camping activity each character would do. Examples include roasting marshmallows or fish, chopping wood, etc.

Entries must be 500 x 500 at a minimum.

Tracing, bases, and AI are completely forbidden. Art must be done 100% by you.

I will regularly check on you to make sure you're on task. Each entry has a due date of one month. To get an extension, please provide a real-world explanation AND show me a WIP, no exceptions.

Ask for only one character at a time; once finished, then ask for another one. I want to give other artists an equal chance to join and reduce the chances of overdue characters. This means no reservations, but you can ask to replace your character with a new one if available. No change-backs, though.

PNGs with transparent BGs are recommended. This saves time for the assembly.

Shadows and shading must go bottom right, for consistency.

No NSFW or raunchy content.

I really like the idea of feminine power. Like I know there's the overused trope where a woman uses her sexuality to manipulate her male opponents. I know there's the lonewolf ceo girlboss who have had most of her empathy drained from her because if sexual or romantic relationships to men aren't important then no one else is either. And I know there's the manic pixie girl who is just the culmination of male fantasy being projected onto women who are then reduced to a unreachable mystery.

But I can't help to think of these caricatures of women and imagine a world where they are people. I can't help but think of a world where women are feared, not because of percieved spectacle or because of a false idea of power or because of the idea of a mystery they present, but rather because they are seen as powerful.

I dunno if it makes any sense but a world where when you a naked lady in the woods it is not sexual or arousing, but rather it is terrifying. You look at her and there's no way in hell that anyone would want to be near her because she is not to be underestimated. You see her and you know you're doomed. A world where feminine power is not a spectacle for men's fantasy but where it exist separately in a way. Where power is power. idk how else to put it.

Inspiration and Research for Video 2 (Real)

I wanted the videos to connect to each other efficiently but be completely different in their own regard so they could also be stand alone pieces of work. I continued working on real with the glitchy effects as it still fit with the original cyberpunk theme but made the editing style to the video different to the previous section of the project.

My main source of inspiration for this section was the music video for the song "More than ever" by Lucki. Not only is his nonchalant cadence effective and alluring due to the artists authenticity (Frith, S. 2001.), but the visuals to the video are extremely effective and enforce the authentic nature of the music. Layering and collaging clips on the main shots with VHS style glitches that are on time with the beat. The entire aesthetic of the song was appealing and I wanted to attempt to recreate something similar.

The music video director Lonewolf also inspired this video thoroughly. The recurring use of mix media, glitchy effects and handheld camera movement in his videos are captivating and appealing to the eye.

We know that he was born in Chile, in a poor family with two younger brothers. His father died when he was 8, and Reyes left school at a young age to provide for his family. He left home and enrolled in the Alliance at 17, first as a shuttle mechanic and then as a pilot. He was also trained to operate drones and hack enemy systems during reconnaissance missions for the Navy. At 22, he was selected for a top-secret project under Alec Ryder’s command for 2 years. There’s no official record of what he did after that, although he was still listed as an Alliance Navy agent. Years later, Alec personally recruited him to join the Initiative and the Pathfinder’s team.

Let’s make a FAHC jacket for Michael!

After sending Ryan his Vagabond jacket last December, I’ve been itching to (properly) outfit the rest of the crew. But, in these uncertain times, I would also appreciate having some additional income. So I came up with an idea of a crowdfunded commission!

I made a ko-fi goal, and if (or rather, when) it’s met, I will make a custom Lonewolf jacket (full disclosure: I don’t sew the jackets, but I find suitable bases and fully customise them) and send it over to Austin. Every person who contributes to the goal will be included in a thank-you note, sent together with it.

You can donate as little as $5 (one ko-fi), as well as donate after the goal is reached/surpassed (if you want to put your name on this project but aren’t financially comfortable to do so right away), up until the jacket is sent (~end of May).

I will start working as soon as the goal is met but no sooner than May 7th.

I will also film/stream the process so I can make it into a tutorial later.

H50 finale

To be blunt, I'm irritated at the thought of Steve leaving Hawaii because I'm tired of him leaving Danny. This isn't about shipping McDanno. This is about how Steve chose Danny for his friend, for his partner, for his Ohana. It's about how he forcibly pulled Danny into his life and then proceeded to push and pull at him for the next decade. He's been willing to die with and for Danny, but at the same time, he keeps leaving over and over on his lonewolf missions.

I want Steve to choose a path to healing that doesn't involve taking off and leaving his family behind again. Let him visit Mary. Let him take some vacations. Let him retire. Let him start restoring another car. Above all, get him the intensive therapy he so desperately needs. Whatever it is, let him do it with Danny still in his life.

I'm not saying he should put Danny's happiness over his own. I'm saying I want a world where he realizes Danny isn't part of the problem, he's part of the solution. He literally has part of Danny inside him keeping him alive. Steve has to find a way to heal, but I want him to heal where Danny is. Danny who's been choosing Steve over and over for almost 10 years. If Steve rides off into the sunset alone or with Cath, then that means Danny gets left behind once again. Even if there's hope Steve will come back someday, that's not a happy ending to me.

Danny deserves some happiness too. Danny's alone too. Danny has been giving everything he has to his job and his family, and he just keeps getting kicked while he's down too. "Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten." I'm tired of that not applying to Danny.

It's irrational, lacking nuance, projecting onto Danny, and a whole host of other things, but it's the best I can say about how I feel without writing a full essay. Thank you for coming to my Steve Talk.

“I will call you once i finish with the mission, okay?” was what Gavin told you 4 days ago.

You stop working on your laptop, trying to reach your phone. Aside from chats from your colleagues about the project you’ve been working on, you don’t see the name you’ve always hope to pop on your screen. Gavin’s name. You threw your phone across the room and it landed on your bed, so you won’t get distracted and wanting to grab the phone for who knows how much since Gavin went for his mission. 

Surely you realize his working can be demanding. Being a captain for Special Task Force who work in the shadow to make sure all people of Loveland can sleep the night and live with peace from EVOL’s terrorists, also a police officer, a captain of SWAT team at that, it surely took most of his time to work. You understand that. Besides, you’re also busy with working projects that seemed like...endless from your superior, Victor. So also being busy keeps your mind off from being lonely. But alas, even if you’re so proud of Gavin, you can’t help but worrying about his safety. But Gavin always come back alive, even if with more wounds and scars, he’s alive.

You yawned, closing the laptop’s screen decide to call it a day and go to sleep. It’s almost 1AM in the morning and you have a board meeting tomorrow with Victor. You can’t be late, of course. Switching the light off, you placed your phone beside you on bed after setting the several alarms to wake you up tomorrow. You got comfortable in bed, covering your whole body with the blanket, inhaling Gavin’s smell from the blanket. Ever since the two of you decided to live together and purchasing a bigger bed, the bed feels so much bigger without Gavin on your side. You frown but quickly shove the thoughts of being lonely away from your mind. You need to sleep.

As I sleep, some time

I feel your voice putting me to sleep

And your hair tickling me

You open your eyes slowly as you can feel someone’s hand on your waist. You see Gavin’s face right across from yours. You blinked several times, not believing that it really is Gavin who is laying beside you right now, still awake. He’s surprised to see you wake up but then smile, caressing your head.

“Did i wake you up? I’m sorry.” Gavin murmurs.

You shake your head. “When did you come home?” you ask, with a hoarse voice from sleep.

It’s 3:45AM.

“Not too long ago. I was about to call you but you must be sleeping and i don’t wanna wake you up.” Gavin says, apologetically.

You smile, snuggling to him burying your head to his chest. “Welcome home.” You practically hugging him by putting your hand on his back. “Did you get hurt?” you ask again.

“I’m home. And no, i’m okay.” Gavin replies, kissing the crown of your head.

Your heart swells with happiness as you inhale Gavin’s scent. You can smell his soap, signing that he took a shower before joining you in bed. Gavin smells like home to you. Refreshing with a light musk, reminding you of summer.

“You should go back to sleep. Don’t you have work later?” Gavin reminds you.

“I do have a meeting this morning.” you groan.

“You’ll do fine. Victor has no way to refuse the project you’ve been working on for weeks.” Gavin rests his palm on the back of your head, rubbing it slowly. Just the right amount to make you yawn again. You nod in his arm, trying to make yourself comfortable as you close your eyes.

“Now go back to sleep, there’s still time until 7AM. I’ll take you to work later.” Gavin says.

You feel Gavin’s even steady breathing as he’s sleeping. You raised your head to see his peaceful face, almost like a child even. His soft vulnerable expression makes your heart swell again, adoring your boyfriend’s sleeping face. He has dark circle on his eyes, he must be tired and haven’t had any sleep while he’s away on his mission. Despite that he has long eyelashes, making you jealous by how long and thick it is. You raise your hand to touch his cheek, afraid that you might wake him up, but Gavin is still sleeping, he must be exhausted from the mission and you take the opportunity to traced your index finger on his smooth skin, along his jaw. Gavin is known as the handsome and a bit lonewolf officer, who is always serious in his work. But this side of Gavin, is only for you to see.

You snuggled closer to him and hold his hand.

More passionately than during the day

You wonder how many nights you spend sleeping next to Gavin like this. If he’s not out on his missions you would lay next to him like this, listening to his heartbeat and his even breathing--sometimes he’d snore but you don’t mind. Gavin’s usually a light sleeper due to him being an officer--being alert at all times and there are times where he would be called for mission right when both of you were sleeping. For him being in a deep sleep like this, it’s kind of rare. But you appreciate all of it. Sleeping in Gavin’s embrace always feel safe and you grow addicted of having arms around your waist, as if keeping you safe, even in sleep.

Between curtains, faintly illuminating me

Feels beautiful because of the light that is you

Full moon’s light up the room slightly, it shines right through Gavin’s face. Gavin always tell you that you’re beautiful, even if your mouth was full of chocolate cakes he bought for you, even if you just woke up from your sleep with a trace of drool on your chin, even if you’re crying because of the drama you watched.

“Don’t you know that you’re also beautiful?” you murmur softly, feeling Gavin’s chest rise and fall in sync with you.

You were scared of him back in high school, despite that he was always look out for you from a far. Even if Gavin was really scary at that time, him back then still had the same kindness he had today. The way he carried you when you were passed out in PE class, the way his eyes met yours when you were in library, or the times you found him climbing the old ginkgo tree outside of practice room.

The rough senior has grown into a sweet man he is today. Or maybe, he’s always this handsome from your high school years, if he’s not always covered in bandages and bruises.

Gavin’s line of work always makes you worry. He rarely has days off, even if he does he almost never spend it on rest, he will always spend it with you. There was time when you asked Gavin to go the shooting location at the nearby lake, knowing he was just came back from mission you told him to not come but he did come anyway.

He was visibly tired. But he came anyway.

You remembered your heart swelled when you found Gavin sleeping under the tree after the shooting’s over, waiting for you to finish. You remember you were crying when you saw a bandage peeking through his shirt. He was hurt. But still he came. You remember he woke up, panic was evident in his face as he cupped your face, apologized if he make you angry. And he was confused as you told him “Gavin, you dummy.”

The Gavin said “I come here because i miss you so much. I wanna meet you as soon as possible. Is that...is that wrong?” made you moved in to his apartment.

It’s fine if the same day repeats

“...why don’t you sleep?” Gavin’s sudden question made you flinched. But Gavin held your hand in his tightly. His eyes fluttered open.

You can’t help but peck his lips.

“I don’t know, you’re too handsome when you’re sleeping..maybe?” you tease. Gavin chuckles, pinching your waist playfully. 

“But i prefer you to sleep with me.” Gavin says, kissing your eye. You nods and once again, scoot closer to him.

“I..i hope we can stay like this forever.” you say, listening to Gavin’s heartbeart.

Gavin hummed. “As much as i want that to happen, both of us are working. You have a meeting this morning too.” Gavin states the fact, making you pout.

“Gavin, you’re not fun.” you sigh, poking his chest. Gavin’s light chuckle warm your heart.

“You know, Gavin, i don’t mind waiting for you to come back home.” you say, out of the blue. Gavin hummed, waiting for you to finish. “If i can sleep in your arms again, i don’t mind waiting for you when you’re out for your missions. I do hope you won’t get hurt out there, though. My mind’s filled by waiting for you and it’s okay. I always happy when you come home.” you rambles, sleepiness is beginning to take on you.

Gavin hummed again as he traced circle on your back, as if lulling you to sleep.

“Hug me, don’t let me go.” you mumbles as you fall asleep.

Gavin kissed your forehead. “How could i? When the girl i’ve been crushing with finally with me?” he closes his eyes and drift back to sleep.
