raffle for palestine
hi everyone, in an attempt to raise money for PCRF and UNRWA, I am organising a raffle on tumblr.
how do i register?
make a donation (any amount is a good amount) to either PCRF or UNRWA, then send me the donation receipt via email (
[email protected]), dm or ask. both organisations accept donations via credit card and paypal.
what's the prize?
tatreez is an important part of palestinian cultural heritage. it's the traditional palestinian form of cross-stitch with different regions, and even different villages, embroidering their own style of tatreez.
some time ago I came across Lina Barkawi, aka @ linasthobe on instagram. please go check her out, she is an amazing artist.
this is what I made using her pattern "I Love You, Oh Homeland"*:
as it is my first time ever doing any type of cross-stitch, it is far from perfect and more of a symbolic prize—but I hope it will find a nice spot in the winner's home :)
how do you choose a winner?
the raffle will run from today (February 16 2024) to February 23 2024. I will then choose a winner via randomizer and contact the winner.
important:
the winner must be willing to share a valid address where I can send the prize to. it can be the address of someone you trust, too - just please get their consent first. of course I will treat your data confidentially.
i'm willing to ship internationally so as many people as possible can join!!
*btw: you can get this pattern on Lina's instagram page as a freebie ❤
for transparency's sake, I got permission from Lina to make this post beforehand.

its wild bc they said theyre in a quad and its like okay theyre all together cool! and you just assume everybody is with everybody and then they make a deliberate point to show every one on one pairing except jarchie and now youre THINKING about jarchie specifically like what makes them different why arent they hooking up etc etc but you werent thinking about them specifically before just the polycule as a unit. but by excluding them they are significant enough that that interviewer had to ask about them bc its more notable than beronica. literally the absence of a jarchie kiss has become gayer than its presence

not only langblr music resources
people irl often ask me where the heck i find the music i listen to, so i figured i might as well make a handy resource masterpost!
Radio Garden: Listen to radio stations all over the world. You can save your favourite stations, explore radio playlists, and search for stations in specific countries or cities. Love this one.
You can download the app (android and apple) or listen via your preferred browser.
Radiooooo: Lets you choose a country, a decade, and a 'genre' (slow, fast, or weird) to listen to.
You can download the app (android and apple) or listen via your preferred browser.
Every Noise At Once: Sounds overwhelming - and tbh it can be. For this reason I personally prefer to look at 'Genres by Country', although there are many other interesting playlists to look at, such as 'We Built This City On' or 'The Sounds of Places'. You can find more if you scroll all the way to the bottom.
Unfortunately, due to the layoff of the creator of this site, some features are not available anymore.
This website is entirely based on Spotify.
Charts: Charts can be tricky if you're looking for music in a specific language due to the insufferable dominance of music in english in uh a lot of countries. It is nevertheless worth checking them out. Spotify charts or Top 40 Charts are your places to go.
Tunefind: Heard a song in a film or tv show that you enjoy but can't find it in the credits? This is the website for you! I use it when shazam fails me or when I'm at the cinema and can't use it or w/e. The songs sometimes come with a description of the corresponding scene for easy checking. Just very handy to have on hand.
Local events: Check for concerts etc. in your area. I know this is not an option for everyone for a bunch of reasons, but if it is for you, visiting local concerts can be a gold mine. I got like ten whole new songs in spanish and one in rapanui from one event I went to (it was like a culture fest with singing, dancing, and poetry). Also listening to live music just connects you differently to the art imo.
Friends & Acquaintances: Last but not least; sometimes my nosiness beats my social anxiety and I simply ask people what they like to listen to. If I'm being extra confident, I ask if they listen to music in languages other than english. Go forth and ask people about their music, go go go!!
Spotify recs:
LindsayDoesLanguages. Individual language playlists + more
Shameless self promo - my own account with individual language playlists. Also on YouTube !
700+ Languages. A playlist by Matthew Bofenkamp that contains one (1) song per language, and as it says on the tin, Matthew has so far collected songs in over 700 languages. Might be a good starting point for more music in your language of interest! Accompanying g0ogle spreadsheet with youtube links here.

it's all very kicking-my-feet satisfying to see shen yurong suffer the consequences of his actions but that doesn't mean i can't appreciate the complexity of his situation. the princess' behaviour towards him (or anyone, really) is clearly abusive, and boy if there isn't also classism at play—not just because of her higher rank, but also because shen yurong is a social climber and started from nothing, which makes his social status more vulnerable and he depends more on higher-up's favour compared to other officials
