hi! I saw the post in Asmi’s server! Did you watch The Marvels? If yes, can you choose a favourite scene? (I think the reference to fanfiction might be my favourite but the flerkens, man. They were awesome. Also iman vellani is my favourite forever.)
Goddamnit they are spreading my blog everywhere lmao
Unfortunately, I have not watched the marvels yet, I like to watch things in time-line order bc I'm insane. They added the defenders/origin stories to the timeliness , so now I gotta watch em all first

hey brieuc! okay so, do you have some blog recs re: marvel comics? bc i'm starving out here!
Hello Em! For convenience, I've also put in what area of Marvel comics they most blog about, but that's only a rough overview–many people do blog about multiple areas of the Marvel universe. I've also included some source blogs, which hopefully you'll also be interested in!
@imperiuswrecked – primarily Namor, but often Dr Doom, Quicksilver and Nightcrawler too!
@doctorvondooms – As you can guess, Dr Doom, but also the Fantastic Four as a whole.
@bisexualwolverines – Mariam posts a bit of everything, but especially X-Men and Spider-Man.
@lethargicmarigold – She-Hulk and Spider-Man!
@elvain – MK is doing a chronological readthrough of every main universe Marvel comic, so she posts a bit of everything, but especially Iron Man and Captain America. Very talented fic writer too!
@marvel-and-moor – Hulk and Ant-Man!
@xmenuniverse – A source blog for everything X-Men.
@uncannysource – Another X-Men source blog!
@welcome-to-latveria – Dr Doom, also the Maximoffs.
@kippahkaplan – Billy Kaplan, and the Maximoff family as a whole.
@rraaaarrl – Dr Doom, the Fantastic Four, and also Godzilla, which I think is cool. Has some very nice art!
@hellomystraightlacedfriend – A mix, but primarily Spider-Man, with a particular focus on Jessica Drew and Harry Osborn.
@kwxnnxn – X-Men, particularly Kwannon.
@kitausuret – Venom, particularly Flash Thompson, although Kita is also a big Scarlet Witch fan too!
@thrakaboom – Conner posts a bit of everything, but especially X-Men and Rick Jones!
@avengerphobic – A collection of characters, such as Amadeus Cho, She-Hulk, Monica Rambeau, Dane Whitman, Exodus.
@ohnostalgia – Excalibur, particularly Brian Braddock, and also the old Marvel western comics!
@weaving-knightmares – Avengers, especially Iron Man
@asianincomics – A source blog dedicated to Asian comic book characters, so not specifically Marvel, but still worth a definite follow!
@namorssideburns – Namor, and the Fantastic Four.
@greerbaiting – Tigra, Moon Knight, Ant-Man.
@hawkzeyes – Hawkeye, Mockingbird.
@darkholme – Bit of everything, but especially Bucky Barnes, Captain America in general, and the X-Men.
@telestorm – X-Men, with a specific focus on Storm and Jean Grey!
@ffverr – X-Men
@rivercule – X-Men, Avengers
@charnauk – Fantastic Four
@doc--samson – Hulk, particularly Doc Samson as you can probably guess!
@vernard – Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four
@bannervilles – Hulk
@kryptonbabe – Hulk and X-Men
@kalinara – X-Men, especially Scott and Jean
And that's about what I caught scrolling through my following list, but I definitely missed some other very talented people, but I hope this helps! I can only apologise about the lack of Spider-Man for the most part, but I don't go there so I cannot help much there alas.

Netflix Marvel: Beyond Daredevil and the Punisher

There has been a lot of recent attention surrounding the Netflix Marvel Daredevil and Punisher shows, possibly because they are the only Netflix properties/characters that Marvel has shown any desire to promote, or even acknowledge, over the past few years. As someone who watched and loved all of these shows as they came out, and has been a fan of their comics counterparts for even longer, it breaks my heart to see Marvel engineering a new audience of fans who only know the DD/Punisher component of this vibrant corner of the MCU. The only way to let Marvel know that we care about all of these shows is to watch them, talk about them, and spread the word!
With this in mind, here are the shows that Marvel, for whatever reason, apparently doesn't want you to know about, and which you're sorely missing out on if you've only watched Daredevil and Punisher:
Jessica Jones (3 seasons)
youtube
Jessica Jones, a jaded ex-superhero-turned-private-investigator, is forced to face down the terrifying supervillain who destroyed her life when he begins targeting new victims.
Luke Cage (2 seasons)
youtube
Super-strong and bulletproof from being experimented on while in prison for a crime he didn't commit, Luke Cage travels to Harlem to start over, but soon finds himself fighting a war against its criminal underworld.
Iron Fist (2 seasons)
youtube
Returning from the otherworldly city where he's lived since his parents' deaths fifteen years ago, Danny Rand is confronted with a dangerous new world of betrayals, ancient enemies, and—most deadly of all—his own long-repressed trauma.
If you haven't watched these in a while, consider this your sign to treat yourself to a re-watch. If you haven't watched them at all before, for whatever reason, consider this a recommendation. I guarantee you'll have a great time; if you liked the Daredevil show, you will love these as well. They are all available on Disney+.
#If Marvel won't promote them then I will.#MCU#Netflix Jessica Jones#Netflix Luke Cage#Netflix Iron Fist#Netflix Defenders#Daredevil Born Again#SaveJessicaJones#SaveLukeCage#SaveIronFist

Weltschmerz is a German word that describes a feeling of sadness, weariness, or hopelessness about the world. It's made up of the words Welt, meaning "world", and Schmerz, meaning "pain".
[Thanks Ellen Geller]
* * * *
Put one foot in front of the other. Repeat.
November 16, 2024
Robert B. Hubbell
It was a tough week—on the heels of an even tougher week. A few Democrats are revved up and ready to jump back in the fight. But if my inbox is a reliable indicator, many (most?) people are still reeling from the losses on Election Day. They are bewildered, exhausted, tapped out emotionally and financially, and angry. You wouldn’t be human if you did not feel those emotions in some measure. Hopes were high, and the loss was unexpected. The disappointment was exacerbated by PTSD.
The president-elect has a feral sense that many Democrats are emotionally vulnerable. His cabinet picks are designed to rub salt in our wounds and deepen our sense of bewilderment. We must recognize that the ludicrous nominations over the past week are part of a strategy to dispirit and weaken Democrats—in hopes of reducing their resolve to resist his dark plans.
We cannot give in to the president-elect’s transparent ploy. Although I am not a fan of the Godfather movie franchise (no hate mail, please!), every American knows the line, “‘It’s not personal, Sonny. It’s strictly business.”
Trump’s bizarre, anti-government nominations are not personal. They are strictly business—to Trump and to us. He is using them as an emotional cudgel against Democrats and a test of loyalty for incredulous Republicans. Our job is to defeat as many of the nominations as possible—thereby demonstrating that Trump is vulnerable and weak after his narrow win.
It is possible that Trump will resort to unilateral recess appointments by forcing an adjournment of Congress for ten days so that he can cram his unqualified, anti-establishment choices on the American people.
Doing so would be a mistake and would overplay Trump's hand. The officers would be branded as illegitimate leaders who could not make it through a Senate confirmation. More importantly, such a move would instantly convert Trump into America’s first (and last) dictator.
No other president has forced an adjournment of Congress, much less for the anti-democratic purpose of evading the Senate’s “advice and consent” role under the Constitution. Although lawsuits would challenge the recess appointments unilaterally engineered by Trump, the bigger point is that the move would drop all pretense of a president bound by the rule of law.
Whatever the Framers thought they were doing with the recess appointments and the adjournment clause, none of them believed those clauses could be manipulated to strip the Senate of its constitutional obligation to review presidential nominations.
If Trump manages to remove the Senate’s advice and consent role from the Constitution, he will sow the seeds of his quick undoing.
As I write, it appears that the nominations of Matt Gaetz, Pete Hegseth, and Robert Kennedy are in trouble—at least if they go through the Senate confirmation process.
We can help keep up the pressure by notifying our Senators and Representatives that we oppose the nominations of Gaetz, Hegseth, Kennedy, and Gabbard. See Jessica Craven’s Chop Wood Carry Water for a word script and link to phone numbers. Chop Wood, Carry Water 11/14.
There are two other themes that deserve mention as we head into the weekend.
The first is the stand-alone injury to women across America who hoped that the 2024 election would be a major step to re-establishing their status as equal citizens under the Constitution. Few opinion writers or journalists have mentioned that the re-election of Trump has dashed those hopes—at least for another four years.
Mother Jones has addressed the issue of the election’s impact on women in its article, Of Misogyny, Musk, and Men by Clara Jeffrey. The article runs under the sub-header “Women are not okay. We’re furious.”
For all of the punditry analyzing the reason for Democrats’ loss on November 5, almost none of them mention the Trump campaign’s explicit appeal to sexism among young men. Any pundit who purports to analyze the reasons for Kamala Harris’s loss and does not list misogyny among the top three reasons is running cover for Trump—whether they intend to or not.
The second issue is the unrelenting tidal wave of pundit analyses that seek to assign blame for the Democratic loss. Spoiler alert: The reason is (allegedly) that Democrats are “liberal elitists” who ignored the working class.
The above analysis is both wrong and lazy. But even if it were accurate, it beggars belief that journalists and pundits are wasting their time assigning blame at the very moment that Trump “is slouching toward Bethlehem” in the manner of the “rough beast” in The Second Coming.1
If the above metaphor is too obscure for a Saturday morning, here is another: Imagine that we are on an oil drilling platform in the North Sea. A fire has started in the galley and threatens to engulf the entire platform. What is the better course of action? To argue over who is responsible for starting the fire in the galley or to work on extinguishing the fire?
It is appropriate and necessary to understand how and why Democrats fell short in 2024. But to do so at a time when we are stranded on a burning platform is suicidal. Assigning blame may fill column inches but it corrodes unity. The legacy media is failing us.
And yet, readers cannot resist the temptation to forward articles to me with the thesis, “Democrats are liberal elitists who got what they deserved.” I get a dozen such emails a day (often multiple duplicates of the latest from NYT or WaPo). I have received hundreds since November 5.
Amplifying such articles merely compounds the journalistic malpractice of the legacy media. We should not give them oxygen. They invite disputation and discord. They are inimical to our prime objective: Resist the efforts of the Trump administration to erode the rule of law.

Gittin' Gud at Rivals
I've been getting good at MarvelRivals, I finally tried playing ranked games yesterday and won three out of three matches (I usually suck at games in general) 🥰💙
Here are the characters I usually play:

And this is my wishlist for future playable characters 🙏🩵:

Nature girl 💙🩵💙🩵💙🩵
Since she's so under utilized in the comics, there's really space to improvise her power set. She could use her powers to heal allies, and also Groot like growths to shield herself and others.

Escapade 💙🩵💙🩵🏳️⚧️
She's one of my favorites obviously, my username on rivals is litteraly her hero name in leet speak.
She could be like a Kirby, and could use allies or ennemies powers. She could buff heals from her healing partners, or add to their attack, or just fight fire with fire.

Jessica Jones 🩵
None of the tanks do it for me at the moment, and Miss Jones would be FANTASTIC to me. She'd be mainly a close quarter combat character up until her special attack, where she would reluctantly fly up and smash down into her enemies.

Elsa Bloodstone 💙
I just LOVE her. She'd use her shotgun and strength in close quarter combat to deal massive damage, all the while, trash talking with her famous potty mouth to taunt her ennemies.
If you want to add me on rivals, I'll re-iterate my username: 3sc4p4d3 💙🏳️⚧️

Manifestos | Costumes
In the world of Manifestos, Knights of the Damned field agents wear costumes to hide their identities from persecution from local and government authorities. Each costume is unique to the agent.
Savina LeBeau: Savina's costume is inspired by a mix of these pieces from Romeo Gigil and Claude Montana pieces from the 90s as well as some elements of 1920s/jazz age fashion such as fur, hats (cloche), and belts.

Candiace Garnett: Candiace's costume would be a leather catsuit, a long coat, and black boots; aka the typical outfit a woman in a Hollywood action movie wears. Inspiration below.

Roopa Iyer: The main inspirations for Roopa's costume are Ultraviolet from the movie of the same name and this Jessica from RE: Revelations design.

Barbara Underwood: Barbara is a simple woman. Her costume is cowgirl/Western inspired.
Shaya Jones: Shaya is what happens when a cosplayer becomes a Demon hunter. She'll sometimes wear the same costume but has a bunch of different ones.

I don’t think it’s very fair for you to try and knock others from reading Miguel’s OG run because truthfully that’s the only place you’re going to get his full character since every run after that is just “Let’s place him in different time scenarios to fix other people’s problems”. I’ve read ur reasonings and some of the issues I just don’t see and that’s coming from someone who’s ALSO half Hispanic and had similar family experiences. Idk I guess comic Miguel is rlly important and relatable to me and you shouldn’t turn others away from having that potential connection too. :/
NAH LOL it is *not* the only place to get his character truthfully -- his character is not consistent between runs, or between comic and movie! Not even Pdavid's runs have an unified version of Miguel since he just becomes an author self-insert after one point. The way Pdavid writes '92 Miguel - Gabriel is also shamelessly almost the same as he wrote Bruce Banner - Rick Jones. (another series where he ended up being pushed off the book after he started making really weird decisions; and notice these last two are white guys, which is how pdavid depicts Miguel all the time.)
I haven't even told people to not read them. In multiple posts i say 'read the first ones to see how it is, stop when you get annoyed, look up summaries, don't feel obligated to treat it as canon because it isn't.' If anyone feels threatened by this they should examine where that defensiveness is coming from.
I'm gonna be real with you that's like saying "the only way to REALLY understand Miles Morales is to read his ultimates run." You know, the one where his mother gets eaten alive by Venom, his dad thinks he's at fault for killing her and nearly beats him with a cane, where the closest thing he has to peter is a clone named jessica drew, and that eventually gets completely retconned in a universe explosion so main universe Miles can be rewritten. Do you remember seeing any of the things above in ITSV? Would you call them *the only real way to fundamentally understand Miles as a character?*
I keep seeing the rhetoric that 'real fans' have to subscribe to the very first script of these characters and that somehow enjoying their ATSV versions is fake-stanning and that is just... not true. That's not how comics work. Our most iconic, definitive, memorable traits for MANY of these superheroes have come from subsequent comic runs, rewrites, feats of adaptation and the interaction between fanwork-becoming-canon. Even uncle Ben's 'power and responsibility' schtick is NOT an original part of Peter's first draft. That came from re-imaginings and rewrites.
I'm really, truly not a fan of the argument that 'relating to parts of a character' completely absolves the text from criticism. It's not a good comic. It barely tries to be latino rep and frankly, I'm not going to praise it for just placing a label on him and doing nothing with it. I don't care for this white man's truth. It's racist and creepy and I should be paid reparations for having to read a storyline where the same girl gets paired up with two different brothers and then their father just to end up getting killed for a sexier token love interest. I am constantly frustrated by the argument that new fans should be forced to read it and potentially get turned away from comics forever; it's one of the worst offerings you could give them. 90's Marvel and DC are a public fandom joke and nearly led the market into bankruptcy!!!!! (Marvel filled for loss in 1996. IT WAS BAD. That's part of why the whole 2099 line went up in flames! The money was going down the drain.)
I've been a comic reader for a long time and I just can't give them blissful innocence passes like that. The current editor-in-chief at Marvel did yellowface and pretended to be a japanese man for years to write some shitty superhero weeb comics with no accountability whatsoever. He still has a job. RUNNING the company!
And here's the thing: I like Miguel too. I have a shitty family and I empathize with that but I KNOW he deserves much better than to be confined by white people's scripts and fetishes. I *want* him to have a chance, multiple chances even, to be completely rewritten and remolded by latine voices without the need for them to constantly refer or tie back into that white man's work; It is our right just as any other.
ATSV throws away most of Miguel's baggage, and straight up refuses to refer to the weird indepth sludge pdavid had going on; the artbook doesn't mention these first comics or most of his runs, they actually talk about other groundbreaking sci-fi concept work and the idea of basically rebuilding the landscape from scratch, and I am deeply thankful they do that. One of the biggest themes of the movie *is* that the idea of comic canon is fraught and full of holes, and that we should subvert it into joyful and honest expressions of these characters' cultures. These are movies that begin with the Comics Code Authority stamp, a censorship marker that among other things explicitly prohibited the positive depiction of pro-civil rights narratives and homosexual relationships, and actively turned their nose at protagonist black characters — & proceed to rip it to shreds. That's what we should be doing!

small post on where felicia is in her life right now, where my default verse takes place, including some character notes: tw for sa mention.
so i said it before but, my blog is very much canon divergent, right now felicia is in her mid twenties (single) and the owner of cat's eye investigations. working as a private investigator while doing off the books work as the black cat, felicia's secret identity as the black cat is very much public, having been arrested early on in her career. if you're a superhero "felicia hardy is the black cat" is common knowledge. visual: jessica alexander.

while she mainly does private investigator work, felicia does dabble in security work & bodyguard work for the right price, though this isnt something she does often. most of felicia's clientele are civilians though she is hired by the occasional superhero & supervillain from time to time (jessica jones eat ur heart out!)
her employees consists of boris korpse, a retired demolitions expert & bruno grainger, a ex helicopter pilot for the u.s. army, and a bagram heavyweight champion. two former criminals felicia hired to help break her father out of prison.

boris and bruno are her two most trusted partners in both her criminal career and her private investigation business. trust is something felicia holds dear to her, and these are two men that have shown her they'll have her back no matter what.
quick things to note:
felicia isnt involved with peter currently, she has been involved with him and still cares for him deeply but as of right now they both agreed that space is the best thing for both of them. they do still do some work here and there in their respective costumed identities
felicia's ring tone is crack by doja cat
felicia isnt a hero. shes an anti heroic, chaotic neutral / chaotic good at most. she isnt an inherently malicious person but she is self serving, stealing for the thrill and the notoriety
felicia is very bisexual and very sex positive!! having had multiple flings and relationships
felicia's probability powers arent very potent when u compare them to someone like domino, making minor shifts in felicia's surrounding environment. unlike kingpin's genetic enhancements, doc tramma's implanted quantum probability pulsator, gives felicia a good amount of control over who her powers effect, though her control can slip when she's stressed
previously mentioned above but felicia's clientele does consists mostly of civilians, though she does take cases from various heroes & villains
while she holds a deep level of trust and loyalty to those she cares for (re: her mother, peter, flash, boris, bruno, mj etc.) felicia keeps many people at arms length and comes across as very detached to those she doesnt have a personal connection to
despite her being a member in canon, felicia isnt a member of the thieves guild. it doesnt really fit into the bones of her timeline i have right now, though this! is subject to change
lastly felicia is a sa survivor and that very much does impact her romantic relationships, specifically with men. i have so many ideas on how it specifically impacted her relationship with peter and how he helped her find peace but.. ill save that for later. i need to reread spiderman + black cat: the evil that men do first.
#long post#sa mention#i really really really wanna talk about felicia and peter#so many thoughts about them specifically!

Jubilee was not there but rogue said “when people ask I say my sexuality is 100% x-men” (??) then invited Logan to watch her fuck her husband (??). And Logan was down he wanted to see rogue in lingerie (???)
She also wasn’t sure what she should call Kurt, a man she has accepted as her brother since the early 90s but is acting like they just met??
ah not the “my sexuality is” jokes 😂 gail simone also did that in domino in 2018 or 2019 and it was old even then. i like how she’ll be playful about queer subtext with female characters, like when she had tigra kiss jessica jones on the lips, but i could do without the stale jokes i think.
rogue inviting logan to watch her fuck her husband is very cute and silly but i don’t think logan would be down. i feel like he probably still sees her as a little sister type since she was such a scared awkward young woman when he first met her. however if he WAS down to watch them fuck it would be 100% because he wants to see gambit get pegged.
i don’t mind the awkwardness of rogue and kurt re-figuring out their relationship bc i feel like the developments with mystique and destiny and the fpreg reveal naturally put them in a place where they’re needing to redefine their family and what they are to each other. even if they used to have it figured out so much has happened that it makes sense that they might have to go over it again. i think it’ll be nice to see that explored, i’m glad that thread from krakoa is getting picked up in this new era.

1. How many works do you have on AO3?
37
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
552,698
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Stranger Things primarily, but I have written for Harry Potter and Marvel
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
- Free-Use Healthcare - Forehead Kisses - Big Dick Energy™️ - cherry on my lips - Gold Rush
5. Do you respond to comments?
I didn't really respond much in the beginning but I try to respond every time now. Even if it's just a heart or "i loved this," I want everyone to know that I appreciate them taking the time to read AND leave a comment.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
holy palmers' kiss I suppose has the angstiest ending considering it exists in the canonverse. At the very end, Steve thinks "Maybe we can save each other," but we know from a fan perspective that Eddie dies because Steve isn't there to save him that Steve and Eddie live happily ever after.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
This is entirely personal opinion because I really only do HEAs lol It's either my big boy The Fool, The World, and Everything in Between because Steddie fight to live as normal a life as possible in the wake of s4 and end up getting engaged at the end, or it's Best friends, ex-friends ‘til the end (better off as lovers) because they bonded, like, a day into being reunited because they were soulmates.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Aside from one comment from someone being marginally racist about how Italians aren't darker skinned (Steve is Sicilian in one of my series and Sicilians are notoriously darker skinned), not really. But I recently heard that some people use priv bookmarks to make sure they avoid reading something again, and while I think that's counterproductive to the bookmark count, I don't really want to know if it's happened to me.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yep! Almost exclusively, but I do have a few fics that are smut-free which I'm always surprised by. All Steddie, all gay, and it ranges from soft love-making to filthy, dirty, wet and messy sex.
10. Do you write crossovers?
The only crossover I've written was for Marvel, and that only counts on a technicality that it was a crossover between Eternals and Daredevil.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of, but I haven't actually scoured the internet to check. I hope if something was stolen, the people reading it still enjoyed it.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
I think so? I had a HP fic translated into Russian but I never followed up on the website to see if it ever got posted.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
When I wrote the Marvel fic, yes. I was working on and Eternals Ikaris/OFC while my best friend wrote a Daredevil/OFC and my other friend wrote a Jessica Jones/OFC, and we had them all in the same room multiple times.
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
Steddie, hands down. Nothing has had be in a chokehold quite like this.
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you will?
So many, and I've lost interest at the moment in one I was actually posting, but I'm hoping to pick it back up after the Big Bang is finished. Probably with massive re-writes.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I think I'm funny, so I would like to say I have a lot of really solid lines in fics that make people laugh out loud. Also my world-building tends to be extensive (so much plot in my porn every damn time), but I don't want to classify that as a weakness so strength it is.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I don't tend to plan things out. I usually have a scene or two in mind and then I write around them and piece it together like Frankenstein's Monster. It's worked out for me so far, but I wish I planned things better sometimes.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I've done it a few times. For my Italian Steve/Mexican Eddie series I have both boys speaking second languages but not well lol I just make it part of the bit because, like Eddie in this, I also speak Spanish but not well. This is my official request that if you do speak another language that I've written in and it's wrong, feel free to let me know lol
19. First fandom you wrote for?
My Chemical Romance. I was 13. We don't talk about it.
20. Favorite fic you've written?
I'm really attached to The Fool, The World, and Everything in Between because it's a chonky boy (107k words) and it took me 9 months to write, but We'd rather be six feet under (than be lonely) is a very close second because I really got to play with Steve's inner monologue there and I think the approach I took to the fake dating trope was really original.
