The only thing that mattered to the She Devil was a marriage by blackmailing H and the RF and a title that she could use later on ! Merching also. I think it was an arrangement that she could do that because she got no money from the RF otherwise ! They paid for a marriage a carriage ride and gave them a title and 2 years in the RF Aden then leave
Thank you❤️

The first character I first fell in love with: That would probably be Rosetta back when I first dipped my toes playing the first RF back in high school. Cute tsundere. Nice portraits. And then quickly Felicity as well. I still hold the same affection for both characters. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Raguna. Clearly. Look at this blog and his last one lmfao. But aside from him I did NOT expect to love Karina as much as I did. My eyes had been on Daria when I started RF3 but shortly into her character quest it was like BOOM. Dokis. The character everyone else loves that I don’t: Raven from RF3. Like she’s fine. But people go nuts over the kuudere. She is undoubtedly one of the most popular bachelorettes in the whole series. And I’m just like okay. The character I love that everyone else hates: Bianca from RF1/F. Not very popular but I think she’s cute and the times she does warm up to you feel all the better. I’m also weak to ojous so that has something to do with it. The character I used to love but don’t any longer: Hm. Violet from Tides. I got smitten with her in college because of the shy uwu thing but going back I’d probably pair up with Electra or Odette. The character I would totally smooch: You know Rosetta would have the best reaction. Shame RF1/F didn’t have special scenes with the girls romantically like later games. >:( The character I’d want to be like: ANYONE but Aden from Tides. FUCK that guy. Most unlikeable protag in the series by far. The character I’d slap: ADEN. WITH MY FOOT. A pairing that I love: You can tell me that Raguna is canon with any of the girls from his games and I’d be like “aight” but the best will always be Raguna and Felicity. A pairing that I despise: Aden stays forever alone. Outside of that I don’t think there’s any bachelor/ettes I disagree with? I even like Lest with Amber. So.

Book asks! Part of me just wants to send all of the questions, but I have to at least pretend that I have some self-control.
2, 3, 13
2. Did you reread anything? What?
When do I not reread? One of my favorite reread this year has been Bone Weaver by Aden Polydoros. I was fortunate enough to receieve an ARC, so I obviously had to reread a hardback copy the second it came out.
3. What were your top five books of the year?
My top five in no particular order are:
Book Lovers by Emily Henry, The Undead Truth of Us by Britney S. Lewis, Juniper and Thorn by Ava Reid, A Lady for a Duke by Alexis Hall, and Babel by RF Kuang.
13. What were your least favorite books of the year?
Camila!
Okay, so I like the idea of The Atlas Six, but I found myself interested in everything but the characters and the main plot. I would have been satisfied enough reading about Libby's time in college.

So I’m currently working on getting to the third dungeon of RF:ToD which, from what I gather, means I’m a little over half way through the main plot?
First of all, the game is gorgeous, I absolutely love the “Wind Waker, but with farming” aspect of it, Aden and Sonja are pretty fun protagonists (Aden is so randomly savage I love it), and TBH I actually like the focus on taming monsters over the actual farming. I also think it was a neat idea to have little events you have to watch before you can get villagers up to the next friendship level! It gives them a lot of personality
I just wish you could tame more monsters total. I believe there’s something like 90 different monsters but you can only keep about 30, and that’s kind of depressing because I love taming all the monsters in RF games. I think the game would also be much improved by having a way to bulk craft a bunch of items at once and an easier way to quickly transfer full stacks of items, because the best way to do it is esoteric enough I didn’t figure it out for about 25 hours of gameplay. I’m guessing because the game was originally made for the Wii, which has a lot fewer buttons than the PS3. But that’s nitpicky stuff
I’d say my biggest complaint is that you can’t play Sonja from the beginning of the game (and instead have Aden be the one trapped in her body. I get that there’s probably some plot thingy with that but just like. Change the plot so you can have a female protag from the beginning?), and you can’t get married before the end of the main story. Since, from what I gather, there’s really not much to do in the post game aside from marriage since you’ll probably have maxed out your monster capacity and there’s only one little post-game combat challenge to speak of. IDK how much I can motivate myself to keep playing when there’s literally nothing to do aside from talk to NPCs and pass time, since I’m not the biggest on completionist aspects like finding all the fish or maxing out all the skill levels or whatever.
I can definitely see why people consider this one a “black sheep”, even if I 100% don’t agree. It’s the farming. The farming in this game is extremely pared down, which frankly doesn’t bother me too much. I mean, in 99% of RF games you’re just taming monsters to take care of your crops anyways. All this does is take some player control away from what you grow and when, since you no longer buy seeds, but your crops grow so fast in this game that it’s not really that big of a deal? You’ll get plenty of everything once your monsters are friendly enough. Too much involvement in farming honestly would have taken a lot away from the ocean exploration aspect anyway, since it takes up so much of your time.
So yeah, it’s not bad. It’s different (which IME tends to be a hallmark of black sheep entries, not bad but not what people were expecting or necessarily wanted).

hi so going through rune factory 5 has made me think a lot about things past games had that are probably never going to be seen again which is sad bc there were a lot of fun features that got scrapped throughout the series so here is a lengthy list of things that only ever showed up in 1 to a few rf games that i miss and i think people would be interested in knowing about:
unique proposal items & quests (1 & 2). added a little personal touch to pursuing each character even if some of the items could be tricky to obtain, like the lover snapper for Mei requiring multiplayer trading. it was still cute though :( stuff like figuring out Felicity’s mystery illness in 1 as her proposal quest, or getting Rosalind a flower bouquet inspired by her favourite story in 2 by seeking her brother’s assistance to use as her proposal item...
unique friendship methods (1 thru frontier). while the gift-giving system was still in effect, there were some characters who would gain friendship in other ways (whether these were just bonuses or did more for you than gift-giving depended on the character). like Bianca in 1 & frontier who was so rich that gifts did Nothing for her, and you just had to talk to her daily. or Alicia in 2 who was more interested in you using her fortune-telling service than getting gifts from you. Rosetta gained bonus LP if you were there when she picked up shipments at 5PM in Frontier, Selphy & Tori gained LP from reading books, etc. etc.
constellations (frontier). this system was sooo cute basically if you talked to Cinnamon after befriending people to a certain extent she’d tell you about constellations you could view; seeing them unlocked a little event w the bachelorette they were related to (ex. a treasure hunt for Bianca’s) & some ingame lore on the constellation from Cinnamon. it would also unlock a book in....
the library (1 & frontier). i could be remembering wrong but i think 2’s was solely for learning spells so i’m not counting it. anyways the libraries were FUN.... frontier’s had more to it but it was a cute concept in 1 too, they had books that covered topics like tutorials to legends to the individual constellations you could get as you unlocked them (frontier)...... it was a really cute feature and good for stuffing in extra tidbits, lore, and small details
jumping & double jumping (oceans). my god i miss jumping. it wasn’t ever necessary and often caused more problems than anything bc of getting Aden stuck but it’s fun. and that’s what matters.
haggling (oceans). there wasn’t a shipping box in that game because you were on an island without easy produce transport so instead you had to sell your wares to shops and actually haggle for better prices. sometimes it would work. sometimes they wouldn’t budge. sometimes they would get pissed off at you and lower their buying price. it was fun :-)
rival marriages (2). we are never seeing this Ever again in either rf Or story of seasons because farming sim fans don’t know how to deal with other people potentially being into their love interest but i hate being the only person who ever gets married in these games and it would be nice if they brought it back because it makes it feel a little less like everything revolves just around the player. also it came with the funniest feature of all time in rf2 which was stealing somebody’s bride at the altar. i want that back so bad. they are never going to top that.
multiplayer (3). they probably removed this because it was incredibly easy to take advantage of and completely destroyed any difficulty you might face in the main story but in 3 there was a bonus dungeon known as the sharance maze which had solo & multiplayer options. in the multiplayer version (which you could still play by yourself lol) time didn’t pass and you suffered 0 repercussions for fainting. very exploitable in a good way. also you could play as just about any character in the cast and they all had their strengths and weaknesses -- Sofia gained HP instead of losing it from failed dishes, Sakuya had increased chances of finding treasure chests, Daria had like 2x speed, Marian had increased HP drain (+ boosted HP gain from green veggies and immediate KO from tomatoes), Pia had her mermaid form accessible, etc. etc.
the electric guitar (oceans). “the fucking what now” you may ask. well you see oceans had some VERY fun joke weapons including an electric guitar axe that actually played guitar riffs when you swung it, an entire flag as a longsword, & a pair of firecrackers as dual blades. they were great and i think rf5 should’ve brought them back
house expansion creative freedom (frontier). i think pictures can do better than an explanation so here’s the gallery link for frontier upgrades, you could pick different designs for your kitchen / forge / apothecary
the boat (frontier). in frontier there was a large lake with little islands scattered about it and you could take a gondola and paddle yourself out to the islands. there was also a festival based in it called the boat race in summer!

What's your view on the "Canon" wives for the player in RF, RF2, Frontier, RF3 and Oceans? Personally found all but Oceans dull
I think they're fine, but not necessarily needed. I think a lot of them would have been better received if they weren't canon, and just other girls in town.
RF1: I do love Mist, especially because she's the oddball in town to begin with. She's nice but super weird at times, which is a treat.
RF2: Mana's my least favorite out of the canon bachelorettes only because of Douglas. It felt like he was waving a huge flag over her status and it annoyed me so much.
RFF: I think it's Mist again, so same opinion as in RF1, except she's less of an odd one out now because there are some eccentrics in Trampoli. For some reason I always get confused on whether canon girl is Mist or Iris Blanche/Noise.
RF3: Shara gets way more hate than she deserves due to the developers pushing the canon girl thing WAY too hard. Which is odd because in game, it doesn't seem like too much until you marry any bachelorette other than Shara. I think she's sweet and really needs canon status taken away so more people can appreciate her.
RFO: I've said I love all Oceans characters and that includes Aden and Sonja. They definitely have the best dynamic with each other and are stuck together for the whole game, so it's the only canon girl/boy situation that doesn't feel forced to me? They have a close bond regardless if they're romantic or not, and I think that's neat.
Anyway I'm glad they stopped with the canon girl thing. I do wish they put a more even focus on all marriage candidates in marketing though. Even though RF5 does not have a canon girl/boy...it was clear to everyone with eyes that Priscilla was the canon one based on marketing alone.
