I intended to make John some other breed of guard dog, but from what I saw, Belgian Malinois are favoured the most by the military. So I gave him a silver/black pelt so he doesn't just look like Bear in a suit adskhfjksadh As for Harold, I was considering him being something other than a bird to make his constant use of bird surnames kinda funny?? But then I looked into cuckoos and how some kinds make use of batesian mimicry (making themselves appear like predatory birds), and have parasitic brood tendencies (aka more pretending to be other birds). The Striped Cuckoo in particular is said to be "solitary and fairly shy" according to wikipedia, which really is just Harold "I'm a private person" Finch aksdhfkjadsh

ok no im so tired but ive had this Thing a Laughingstock Concept Thing in my Brain for Days Now and its.... basically what if Barnaby adopted a lil caterpillar. like it's not sapient or anything its literally A Wriggly Puppet Prop. but he finds it in his home and it reminds him of Howdy and he keeps it. he carries it everywhere. he treats it so tenderly and names it and everything. his delusional smitten subconscious is like "omg... mine & howdy's <3" he and Howdy are not even together at this point

so Barnaby cares for this lil caterpillar and Howdy ends up getting attached as well, because he's on the same shit as Barnaby. and eventually the lil caterpillar pupates, and they watch over the chrysalis So Excited to see what lil wormie will look like as a butterfly. and it emerges and they're so proud and weirdly emotional. the butterfly takes off on its first flight and lands on a flower patch

Finally finished Person of Interest, and it is hands down one of the best series I've ever seen. Jonathan Nolan, you bastard, you did it again! I just love how love and empathy are recurring themes on his narratives (I've recently rewatched Interstellar too).

It's going to be really interesting rewatching Westworld, because I see so many parallels, and I think POI compliments season 3 (or maybe Westworld expands on Person of Interest, or both), and this will for sure add another layer of interpretation.

Anyway, the last two seasons in particular of Person of Interest were brilliant, and I'm very happy with the conclusion. Can't say I didn't see it coming, my boy Reese screamed doomed by the narrative since episode 1, but it was still heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time.

Shout-out to Bear for being the best boy and making it to the end, and same goes for Fusco!

10/10 will watch again for sure and everybody who hasn't watched it already, really really should.

Things that make me wish I had my phone on me: yesterday I went out with the dogs to do my morning chores, as I normally do, and I opened the coop to let the birds out like normal, turkeys jumped right out and sprinted behind me to the food, but Gracie hung back a bit when Reese followed me in with his frisbee. And as I'm feeding the birds I stop and realize that Reese was not right behind me with a toy, so I leave the old shelter to look, and this fucking dumbass had put the frisbee INSIDE THE COOP AT GRACIE'S FEET waiting for the CHICKEN to throw it, tail wagging, bouncing up and down, ready to go. Of course poor Gracie is confused and peeping furiously, and when she hops up onto the frisbee to leave the coop Reese starts spinning he's so excited that she's going to "throw" it.

He's so fucking dumb I love him.

This isn’t a question so much as a comment:

I always really want to name the dog “Blondie” (after the band but also haha it’s like teasing R because of what Milton calls them), but so far I can’t bring myself to pick anything other then the RO’s name suggestion.

I’m any case thank you for the wonderful book, I look forward to the rest.

"I think I'd prefer this Blondie to you," Milton remarks with a cheeky smile at R while he continues to pet the superior Blondie. "She's sweet."

You watch Milton, finding it easier to focus on him than on the drab hospital setting you're in. He's beyond gentle with her, almost delicate, as he pats her head, stroking between her floppy ears with his better arm—the one not slated for yet another surgery. You've read that animals can sense when people are ill; he isn't technically sick, but Blondie hasn't put up any fuss when going on these visits with you and R, trotting along with purpose to the only teenager's room on this floor. She might like the former prankster. Will he ever prank again?

"I can also be sweet to some," R retorts with a meaningful glance in your direction. "If not downright saccharine."

"Pfft, I doubt that," Milton disagrees. Finally, he stops finger-combing Blondie's fur to peek up at you with more uncertainty. "Thanks for letting me see her. Like, you're probably busy with… stuff, so thanks."

You don't feel you deserve a 'thank you' when it comes to Milton Callaway.

I can see Milton teasing R about Blondie's name if you were to go that route. 🥰 🐕 That being said, I'm so glad that you find it hard to stray from the name suggestions offered by the ROs! They do relate to/unlock an extra scene with your RO(s) and the TFS dog at the end of Book One as well. :D (JR-mancers in particular will be getting extra scenes in Book Two due to some important… history.)
