now don't get me wrong i knew he was super religious and catholic af back in 2012 and did the most questionable shit outside of the show (passion of the christ) but none of this was ever talked about during production by the crew or the cast so i had no idea it was THIS BAD

anyway "sentimental feelings for old ships/shows that meant a lot during my formative years" does not apply to me. i can and will drop things no matter how much they meant to me because no amount of sentiment could ever supersede the importance of my identity as a qpoc. the fact that the show casted someone this awful and kept him for all five seasons soured this show permanently for me, actually. now we know he was why taraji p. henson left mid-s3 and she couldn't even say that

TBQH i think Finch had a bit of an Oh No moment long before John ever knew he existed, watching him let that innocent number go. As for John, he’s been a little in love with Finch for as long as they’ve been working together, and that’s fine. But I think his major oh no moment, when he realizes Finch might be in love with him too, happens on a darkened rooftop with a bomb strapped to his chest, and they’re either going to live or die together because that’s all they know how to be anymore.

Additional Oh No moment: the end of 1.05 when Finch tells John to try the eggs benedict and slides him the menu with no picture inside and John tries and fails to hide that stupid smitten smile behind his had at this one little thing show of trust that Finch has given him HNNNNGH big oh no

AHHHHHHHHH what good moments omg like honestly John smiling dopily like a lovestruck teenager just because Harold decided to share his breakfast preference with him is definitely an ‘oh’ moment.

Also what in the world is it with this man and softly proclaiming his love for Harold and thanking him and smiling at him right before he is about to be blown up on a rooftop, how has this happened more than once John plz.

I have different moments for both Harold and John:

For John, his first “oh...” moment was definitely at the end of Judgement after he stopped smiling ridiculously at a plate of eggs and started thinking about why he was smiling ridiculously at a plate of eggs.

His “oh.” italicized realization was when he stumbled out of a garage bleeding all over the place and Harold was right there to catch him.

And his “oh no.” moment was when Harold was taken from him (the first time) and he paused in the middle of the street to glare at the nearest street cam and growl at TM to help him get Harold back.

For Harold, I think his first “oh...” moment when he found himself trusting that John would somehow come for him and leaving him cufflinks as a clue (and John not letting him down).

His italicized “oh.” moment was on the rooftop when John was about to get blown up (the first time) and he realized he couldn’t let that happen.

And his final “oh no.” moment was when TM had moved itself and he stood in front of John and confessed that he might have been responsible for how John ended up here... and John just smiled softly at him with like the most hearteyes to ever hearteyes I can’t even believe how soft and understanding and forgiving and full of love this gif is:

「這樣好點了嗎？」里斯的襯衫前方懸空，汗水仍滲透關節處的反摺，製造深淺不一的痕跡。

「好多了。」芬奇感激地點點頭，連忙起身把用冰塊鎮好的水遞給里斯，「感謝你的幫忙，里斯先生。」

「畢竟我該為此負起責任。」里斯說著，把無奈的眼神拋向趴在床墊上不敢吭聲的小熊，又慢悠悠但明顯多點得意，看向頭頂重新低頻作響的管路。

「在讀什麼？」里斯是指芬奇桌上微微散開的紙張，嶄新的紙頁印了單調制式的文句，每個都被打字機特殊的毛邊走過。

芬奇去泡了一杯綠茶，提到紙張的來由忽然泛起雀躍，「那個──是我趁你在修冷氣時找到的小消遣。艾倫．海尼克在六〇年代對外星生命體的一系列官方報告。」

「怎麼？你相信有外星人嗎？」里斯在芬奇面前脫掉狼狽的布料，裸露著上半身佔據睜大呆愣的視線。

芬奇勉強眨眼，得清理一下喉嚨才找回聲音，「我相信人類不是智慧最高的物種樣態。」

「這個答案很適合你。」

芬奇淡淡一笑，當作讚美來接受里斯的調侃，並將自身挪動幾分，留出空間給里斯扣釦子，「如果你想要更確切的答案：外星人不是這份報告吸引我的主因。」他用鉛筆動手做幾個記號，遞到里斯手上，「他是個詩人，也是個有趣的編碼者。」

天弧下，你予我一瞬

「他想寫給誰？」

「我也不知道。想必是對他而言很重要的人。」

里斯把自己打理好，連同衣襬，重新得到芬奇安心的直視，全神貫注又恍然遺忘他們正直視彼此，「如果有機會，你也會把我藏進系統裡嗎？」

芬奇保持沉默，不超出以往令人自在而靜待的方式，緩緩把兩個袖扣摘下，再幫里斯別好，「你不會讓程式產生錯誤的話。」

里斯摸摸袖扣，像是探測上頭殘留的體溫，抬起手將芬奇的後頸密密貼合，「我答應你。」

John + looking at Finch like he’s the entire world

so like. @boazpriestly and i talked about this a few nights ago but i really liked it so i’m gonna flesh it out a tiny bit more in this new weird “absolutely don’t think about this” series i’ve got going on right now

so like super duper don’t think about the first time finch and reese wake up together. 

it doesn’t even necessarily have to be after their ~first time having sex or any other kind of momentous relationship goal they would have passed, but maybe it’s just after a long night at the office and obviously finch has rooms somewhere in the library that can basically be used as places to crash (i know it’s like a popular fandom headcanon that he just has like, cots in the stacks or something but finch is fucking loaded and he works 25/8 he has a fucking furnished bedroom somewhere in that motherfucker mmkay).

and maybe, just maybe they stay up too late and neither of them wants to be alone and they really don’t want to have to wake bear up so finch is like “let’s just go to sleep, there’s a bedroom in the back” and reese is like “mm i don’t know about that because i don’t want you to know about my super secret agent feelings for you” and then he sees the california king and is like “eh, pretty easy to avoid physical contact when you’re sleeping on a bed the size of a small house”

so they strip down to shirts and shorts and crawl under the blankets, and fall asleep almost instantly, because it’s really late and this case has been exhausting on every conceivable level and reese didn’t know he could still get this tired 

and maybe in the morning, finch wakes up, eyes fluttering open as the rest of him reaches wakefulness, and notices a huge lump next to him in the bed. he’d slept so hard he’d forgotten reese was even there, and while it’s a bit of a surprise to see him, it’s not unwelcome. finch has always wondered what reese would look like if he weren’t so cautious all the time, and the sight of reese asleep and comfortable nearly knocks the breath from his chest.

reese looks so peaceful, body at ease, frown lines gone, stubble filling in, and finch wants him to look like this all the time. like a man who’s never had to take life, who’s never lost life, who’s never lost himself to the life he once led. who had only ever known a loving touch, whose face knows has only ever known how to smile. whose heart has not been blackened by war. who has never had to sacrifice the best parts of himself in order to rid the world of the worst it has to offer. 

and maybe, just maybe, when reese opens his eyes, squinting slightly in the early morning sunshine to see finch looking at him with those prying eyes, he’ll smile, just a little bit, and then snuggle back down into his pillow, mumbling for five more minutes.

finch is charmed, so, so charmed, and so doomed to love this man he aches with it.

how about John Reese for 002 ?

(From this meme!) I have made it my new goal to get one of these for all six of our major characters (and Bear) now!

How I feel about this character: If Root is the representation of TM’s tertiary ops, then John is the one who truly embodies TM’s irrelevant operations. John was really the most perfect partner Harold could’ve found to save one person at a time and find so much fulfillment in doing so. 

All the people I ship romantically with this character: Harold obviously. I’ve read John/Jessica, John/Carter and a bunch of other shippy fics, but I wouldn’t say I really ship any of them. 

My non-romantic OTP for this character: The mayhem twins!

My unpopular opinion about this character: Reese is seen as far too much of a passive puppy and cinnamon roll in fandom. John is a highly dangerous trained assassin, has killed and tortured, goes after numbers with a single-mindedness that is somewhat terrifying, and is absolutely lost when Harold is taken away from him. Also for the last time, can we stop with the “John always follows orders” narrative? A huge part of his flashbacks showed that he consistently questioned orders and the crux of RAM came from him refusing to kill Daniel Casey. 

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: How about something I wish hadn’t happened with this character? His entire stint as Detective Riley with a specific focus on his arc with Iris in s4. I also wish they had tied his flashbacks from Truth Be Told into the main arc somehow. 

My OTP: Can you believe that the last thing John did before dying was smile at Harold? Can you believe that out of everyone in the world he decided that Harold’s was the life worth saving and was so glad that this was how it was going to end for him? Can you fucking believe?!

My cross over ship: Ummm I’m so bad at crossovers omg! I don’t think I have one!

A headcanon fact: John made his deal with TM to protect Harold immediately after they separated at the end of Deus Ex Machina. It was the only reason he was able to continue on living the persona of John Riley.

「新嗜好嗎？」

里斯從電腦椅後方探出。比貓肉墊還要無聲息的步伐沒有讓芬奇肩膀繃得太緊，只是拿探究的眼神不停打量里斯手裡的紙盒，還有兩杯平托的熱茶。

里斯親暱地笑笑，遵從芬奇的眼神把紙盒打開。今天的圖書館縈繞古典音樂，里斯相當確定沒有在餐廳或宴會聽過，是屬於更私密的個人品味。「新口味，有興趣嗎？」

芬奇沒有拒絕半盒丹麥酥半盒甜甜圈的邀請，挑了一顆暖黃色的，「希望這值得你比平常晚到五分鐘才來。」

「我必須衡量破壞你例行生活的損益，只好和值班的女孩多討論兩句『該挑什麼口味給不喜歡變化太大的人』。」里斯以報告任務般的清淡聳肩，身體隨低沉輕柔的語氣慢慢俯過，不經意把芬奇圍在中心，「沒想到你喜歡上烤餅乾？我把你想得太單純了。」

「這次的號碼平日在市中心開設烘焙課。」芬奇簡要地回答，忙著在里斯面前舔舔沾滿糖粉的手指，「我不想毫無準備──麻煩幫我拿張紙巾──讓對方覺得我很可疑。」

「恕我直言，哈洛。那不就是烘焙課的目的嗎？」里斯突然換成兩人最私密的稱呼，看向從他胸前抬頭的人。

芬奇這時才有了明顯的變化，肢體侷促地在里斯雙臂間擺動，一手輕輕推拒硬鐵般的手臂，「我們的時間緊湊……只能報名、『伴侶班』。」

他們彼此靜止了至少半分鐘，空氣中滿是微熱而急促的訊息，和音符碰撞在一起，像糖粒和奶油被拌成綿軟的模樣。「我絕不會跟萊諾一起去。」

芬奇的表情已經沒辦法再維持任何一秒，綜合了緊盯螢幕不敢偏移的視線、泛紅的耳廓以及汗濕的鬢角，每個字都會把他的心臟擠出胸膛般急促，「那麼、你要一起練習烤餅乾嗎？」

「剛剛那個，你喜歡糖霜款還是千層款？」
