thinking about kazuki taking rei and miri to visit yuzuko’s grave during hydrangeas season after kazurei got together. rei bows with respect as he holds kazuki’s hand and tells yuzuko he’ll try his best to take care of kazuki and miri grabs his other hand and does the same and it reduces kazuki to tears because he feels so loved. they sit down in front of her grave as kazuki told her stories about rei’s toasts and miri’s drawings.

every year from there on it becomes a family trip to visit yuzuko in the countryside so kazuki doesn’t have to do it alone anymore

I Really loved the official art when Rei finally got his cat and Kazuki couldn't say no (〜￣▽￣)〜 So I made this when that art came out.

I know we all have our own opinions on P.A. Works throwing this line into the ending of the final episode:

BUT!! The English dub is now out.

In the English dub, Miri says this phrase a little differently. She says that Kazuki “went out drinking with the ladies.”

This sounds a lot less like a pathetically belated attempt at no homo and a lot more like saying the ladies are his friend group, which would make sense, seeing how Kazuki immediately made friends with the daycare moms back when Miri was little.

It’s a small change, and honestly could just have been a logistical (mouth flap) choice, but it blends in with their prologue far better than the original phrase in Japanese had done. It’s even more open-ended to the nature of his and Rei’s relationship than the original, which I think is a smart choice, given how many potentially queer categories they can fall under when no label is given.

The English dub for this show has been a delight from start to finish, really, so this was the perfect way to end the series, imo. I’m gonna miss them. 🥲
