My oc, Richard Lamm, a musician from Stuttgart. He was the life and soul of the company and was able to infect everyone with his laughter. His heart was given to music but in June 1914 he put aside his violin and went to the front. "There are no more nationalities and parties, there are only Germans!". Richard was Jewish. The service wasn't easy for him but the support from a childhood friend who joined the same regiment played an important role

Mayor Wellington Webb (born February 17, 1941) was born in Chicago. He came to Denver at a very early age and before entering politics he was a forklift operator. His public service career began in 1972 when he was elected to the Colorado House of Representatives.
He was an all-conference basketball player at Northeastern Junior College. He obtained his BA and his MA in Sociology from Colorado State College.
In 1977, he was selected by President James Carter to serve as regional director of the US Department of Health, Education and Welfare. In 1981, Colorado Governor Richard Lamm appointed him to his cabinet as Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies. In 1987, he was elected as the Denver City Auditor.
In 1991, he became the first African American mayor of Denver. He won reelection twice, serving a total of twelve years. He named the first Hispanic police chief, the first African American fire chief, and the first Hispanic Clerk and Recorder. He oversaw the construction of Denver International Airport and ensured that many of its concessions would be operated by women and minority entrepreneurs. He hosted nearly 200,000 people from around the world to celebrate World Youth Day with Pope John Paul II on August 11-15, 1993, and in 1997 welcomed President Clinton and eight world leaders at the Denver Summit of the Eight, the annual economic summit.
A new city office building was named the Wellington E. Webb Municipal Office Building in 2002 just before he left office. Denver Health and Hospitals named their primary care facility in his honor in 2006. Since leaving office, he has partnered with a real estate developer to build affordable housing.
He has been married to Wilma Webb since 1969. They have four children. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence #kappaalphapsi

Remembering Richard Lamm and his fight for Coloradans
Remembering Richard Lamm and his fight for Coloradans
Richard D. Lamm was a kind, humble and generous man. He was the kind of man who you could meet on the street in downtown Denver and walk away from the conversation never knowing he was the longest-serving governor in state history. Colorado will be poorer without him here offering his unvarnished and genuine takes on the most important policies of our time. Lamm served Colorado as governor for…

By the late 1960s the mysterious killing and sampling of cattle had quietly begun. Ranchers were outraged. Their animals were being ruthlessly killed and samples of their eyes, tongues, reproductive organs, and intestines were being silently carted off under cover of darkness. Sedatives or tranquilizers were used to subdue the animals. Often sharp instruments were used to remove tissues from these freshly killed cattle. And the very organs that were removed—the eye, the tongue, the reproductive organs, and the large intestine—are certainly organs that, in hindsight, have been shown to be early prion reservoirs.
The monitoring operation was definitely illegal. It was ruthless in its efficiency. It had no regard for the wishes of ranchers. Top-gun operatives swooped in at the dead of night and sampled animals from a wide variety of hot zones. No footprints or tracks of vehicles were left behind. Helicopter activity has always been associated with these operations. It was, in other words, highly efficient.
The two centers of the cattle mutilation phenomenon that are of greatest interest during this time are northeastern Colorado, where the CWD epidemic originated, and northwestern Saskatchewan, where three separate outbreaks of prion diseases (CWD, BSE, and scrapie) have erupted. It is my contention that the extraordinary overlap between cattle mutilations and prion disease in northeastern Colorado and in northwestern Saskatchewan may not be coincidence...
When Governor Richard Lamm flew to Pueblo, Colorado, to meet with cattle officials in 1975, he proclaimed that cattle mutilations were one of the greatest outrages of the twentieth century. In 1974 and 1975 hundreds of animals had died in the area north and northeast of Denver. Within a few short years the same area would become the epicenter of the rapidly expanding CWD outbreak. The cattle mutilations were also reported, though to a lesser degree than in Colorado, in Nebraska and Wyoming, as was the CWD epidemic as it moved north and east.

the Toto Africa meme was all fun and games, but did you ever look at teh Toto wiki and realize how much of teh early 1980s they influenced?
Session work (1970s to early 1990s)
Before, and during Toto, the members did various session work for a slew of notable musicians. The first of which, which also led to the birth of the band was with Boz Scaggs, in which Jeff Porcaro, David Paich, David Hungate, and Joe Porcaro (regular Toto guest contributor and father of Jeff, Steve, and Mike) played on his smash hit album Silk Degrees.[53] The members had done smaller scale work before this album working with the likes of Steely Dan[54], Seals and Crofts[55], and Sonny & Cher[56], among others. Steve Lukather provided the main guitar work on Michael Jackson's hit "Beat It", although Eddie Van Halen played the guitar solo in the bridge. Jeff Porcaro played drums on the track[57], while Steve Porcaro programmed synthesizer for the Thriller album and also co-wrote and co-composed "Human Nature".
In 1982, the rock band Chicago brought in David Foster to produce their album Chicago 16. They had considered using him for their 1980 album Chicago XIV, but went with Tom Dowd instead. Under Foster's direction, the band adopted more of a soft rock sound, shed most of its jazz fusion/horn section sound, and brought in many session musicians, something that alienated Chicago member Robert Lamm a bit. Of the musicians chosen, three were Steve Lukather, David Paich, and Steve Porcaro, the three core members of Toto.[58]
In 1978, under David Foster's direction (who also produced the aforementioned Chicago album on which Toto also played), he brought in David Hungate, Steve Lukather, Steve Porcaro, and Toto vocalist Bobby Kimball to play on Alice Cooper's 1978 album From the Inside. They have also played with legendary jazz player Miles Davis as well. Other artists/bands that the members of Toto collaborated with include; Larry Carlton, Pink Floyd, Quincy Jones, Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, James Newton-Howard, Michael McDonald, Eagles, Earth, Wind & Fire, Yes, Eddie Van Halen, Los Lobotomys, Yoso, Richard Page (of Mr. Mister, and was proposed to replace Bobby Kimball), and Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band (also featuring Richard Page).
(they also did the soundtrack for David Lynch’s Dune)

Rabbi Norman Lamm, noted Modern Orthodox rabbi, author and communal leader, passed away Sunday at the age of 92.
The president emeritus of Yeshiva University had just lost his wife to COVID-19 a month earlier.
Rabbi Lamm was the third President of Yeshiva University, serving from 1976 until 2013, and is credited with helping to save it from falling into bankruptcy.
Rabbi Lamm got his rabbinical ordination from Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik at Yeshiva University's rabbinical school, the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary, in 1951.
In 1952, he was appointed rabbi of New York's Congregation Beth Israel, where he served for six years before becoming assistant rabbi at the Jewish Center on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in 1958. In 1959, he was promoted to the Jewish Center's rabbi, a position he held until 1976.
Lamm was a prolific author, writing more than a dozen books. His first book, Faith and Doubt: Studies in Traditional Jewish Thought, has been updated twice since he wrote it in 1971.
Perhaps his most famous book is Torah U'madda: The Encounter of Religious Learning and Worldly Knowledge in the Jewish Tradition, in which he lays down the philosophical underpinnings of the religious paradigm that Yeshiva University embodies. Written at a time when Modern Orthodoxy was being dismissed as "less authentic" than Ultra-Orthodoxy, Torah U'madda explores the importance - and challenges - of synthesizing a deeply religious life with worldly endeavors and secular wisdom.
His book The Religious Thought of Hasidism: Text and Commentary won a National Jewish Books Award in the Jewish Thought category in 1999.
Lamm stepped down as President in 2003, when he was succeeded by Richard Joel. He maintained the title of Chancellor of Yeshiva University and Rosh Yeshiva of its rabbinical school until 2013, when he announced his retirement.

How to Destroy America by Texas Oathkeepers
Something I read over coffee this morning:
Wherever you stand, please take the time to read this; it ought to scare the bejeebies out of you!
We know Dick Lamm as Governor of Colorado. In that context his thoughts are particularly poignant. Last week there was an immigration overpopulation conference in Washington D.C., filled to capacity by many of America's finest minds and leaders. A brilliant college professor [and farmer] by the name of Victor Davis Hanson talked about his latest book, Mexifornia, explaining how immigration - both legal and illegal - was destroying the entire state of California. He said it would march across the country until it destroyed all vestiges of The American Dream.
Moments later, former Colorado Governor Richard D. Lamm stood up and gave a stunning speech on how to destroy America.
The audience sat spellbound as he described eight methods for the destruction of the United States. He said, "If you believe that America is too smug, too self-satisfied, too rich, then let's destroy America. It is not that hard to do. No nation in history has survived the ravages of time Arnold Toynbee observed that all great civilizations rise and fall and that 'An autopsy of history would show that all great nations commit suicide.'
"Here is how they do it," Lamm said:
"First, to destroy America, turn America into a bilingual or multi-lingual and bi-cultural country. History shows that no nation can survive the tension, conflict, and antagonism of two or more competing languages and cultures It is a blessing for an individual to be bilingual; however, it is a curse for a society to be bilingual. The historical scholar, Seymour Lipset, put it this way: 'The histories of bilingual and bi-cultural societies that do not assimilate are histories of turmoil, tension, and tragedy.' Canada, Belgium, Malaysia, and Lebanon all face crises of national existence in which minorities press for autonomy, if not independence. Pakistan and Cyprus have divided. Nigeria suppressed an ethnic rebellion France faces difficulties with Basques, Bretons, Corsicans and Muslims.'
Lamm went on:
"Second, to destroy America, invent 'multiculturalism' and encourage immigrants to maintain their culture. Make it an article of belief that all cultures are equal; that there are no cultural differences. Make it an article of faith that the Black and Hispanic dropout rates are due solely to prejudice and discrimination by the majority. Every other explanation is out of bounds.
"Third, we could make the United States an 'Hispanic Quebec' without much effort. The key is to celebrate diversity rather than unity. As Benjamin Schwarz said in the Atlantic Monthly recently: 'The apparent success of our own multi-ethnic and multicultural experiment might have been achieved not by tolerance but by hegemony. Without the dominance that once dictated ethnocentricacy and what it meant to be an American, we are left with only tolerance and pluralism to hold us together.'
Lamm said, "I would encourage all immigrants to keep their own language and culture. I would replace the melting pot metaphor with the salad bowl metaphor. It is important to ensure that we have various cultural subgroups living in America enforcing their differences rather than as Americans, emphasizing their similarities.
"Fourth, I would make our fastest growing demographic group the least educated. I would add a second underclass, un-assimilated, under-educated, and antagonistic to our population. I would have this second underclass have a 50% dropout rate from high school.
"My fifth point for destroying America would be to get big foundations and business to give these efforts lots of money. I would invest in ethnic identity, and I would establish the cult of 'Victimology.' I would get all minorities to think that their lack of success was the fault of the majority. I would start a grievance industry blaming all minority failure on the majority.
"My sixth plan for America's downfall would include dual citizenship, and promote divided loyalties. I would celebrate diversity over unity. I would stress differences rather than similarities. Diverse people worldwide are mostly engaged in hating each other - that is, when they are not killing each other. A diverse, peaceful, or stable society is against most historical precept. People undervalue the unity it takes to keep a nation together. Look at the ancient Greeks. The Greeks believed that they belonged to the same race; they possessed a common language and literature; and they worshipped the same gods. All Greece took part in the Olympic games. A common enemy, Persia, threatened their liberty. Yet all these bonds were not strong enough to overcome two factors: local patriotism and geographical conditions that nurtured political divisions. Greece fell. 'E. Pluribus Unum' -- From many, one. In that historical reality, if we put the emphasis on the 'pluribus' instead of the 'Unum,' we will 'Balkanize' America as surely as Kosovo.
"Next to last, I would place all subjects off limits. Make it taboo to talk about anything against the cult of 'diversity.' I would find a word similar to 'heretic' in the 16th century - that stopped discussion and paralyzed thinking. Words like 'racist' or 'xenophobe' halt discussion and debate. Having made America a bilingual/bi-cultural country, having established multi-culturalism, having the large foundations fund the doctrine of 'Victimology,' I would next make it impossible to enforce our immigration laws. I would develop a mantra: That because immigration has been good for America , it must always be good. I would make every individual immigrant symmetric and ignore the cumulative impact of millions of them."
In the last minute of his speech, Governor Lamm wiped his brow. Profound silence followed. Finally he said, "Last, I would censor Victor Davis Hanson's book Mexifornia. His book is dangerous. It exposes the plan to destroy America. Unless you feel America deserves to be destroyed, don't read that book."
There was no applause. A chilling fear quietly rose like an ominous cloud above every attendee at the conference. Every American in that room knew that everything Lamm enumerated was proceeding methodically, quietly, darkly, yet pervasively across the United States today. Discussion is being suppressed. Over 100 languages are ripping the foundation of our educational system and national cohesiveness. Even barbaric cultures that practice female genital mutilation are growing as we celebrate "diversity." American jobs are vanishing into the Third World as corporations create a Third World in America - take note of California and other states To date, ten million illegal aliens and growing fast. It is reminiscent of George Orwell's book, 1984. In that story, three slogans are engraved in the Ministry of Truth building: "War is peace," "Freedom is slavery," and "Ignorance is strength."
Governor Lamm walked back to his seat. It dawned on everyone at the conference that our nation and the future of this great democracy is deeply in trouble and worsening fast. If we don't get this immigration monster stopped within three years, it will rage like a California wildfire and destroy everything in its path, especially The American Dream.
If you care for and love our country as I do, take the time to pass this on just as I did for you.
NOTHING to counteract this is going to happen if you don't!
