I finished Partitio's final chapter last night and I'm just here thinking about what it'd be like to be a journalist in that crowd lol

Like. Imagine: You're a reporter in the crowd, eagerly awaiting Roque Brilliante's latest announcement regarding the steam engine, pen and paper in hand. You're on the edge of your seat as he concludes, confident in your scoop

Suddenly, a mysterious man in a yellow coat arrives, waving a check he claims to represent 80 billion leaves from the famous Alrond Rondwell, and he insists on buying the rights to the steam engine. He and Roque start to argue like they've known each other for years, and Roque shoots down the man bcus he doesn't have the cold hard cash to pay with. And wow, you sure weren't expecting drama in your scoop today, but what a headline!

And then *Alrond himself* — who you have probably been trying and failing for ages to get an interview with — just swoops in on his *massive* ship, filled with *80 billion in cash*. He talks about how awesome this man with the yellow coat — apparently named Partitio — is. Then Partitio and Roque sign the contract to hand the rights to the steam engine over to the former. Your headline just got sm better

But then Roque is so mad about losing the rights to the steam engine and is suddenly snarling at you and the other reporters like a wild animal, demanding to leave him alone. And of course you can't do that, you're paparazzi! So you and a whole crowd of other journalists try to follow him. Next thing you know, the wall of the factory is run down by an *enormous train*, driven by *Roque*, and headed *right for you*. What even *is* a train? You don't know! You're running for your life!

Funky Octopath au I made while back where Partitio and Hikari are childhood friends. Partitio just went to Ku for a nice baby’s first business trip thing and he met Hikari on that and they just both became pen pals and now it’s a slow burn childhood friends thing.

Bonus points with Roque and Papp having a sub plot of their relationship being “Oh my god we fucking sent our son to Ku. Why are we both idiots” and those two just asking Partitio if Hikari is the guy he was always writing to as a kid. They ship it even as they are divorced.

Was going through my notepad where I was writing headcanons for Octopath Traveler II, and this one got me pretty good:

- (Partitio Chapter 1) Papp and Roque got married shortly after Papp lost his wife for tax benefits. This makes Roque Partitio’s stepdad. Roque, however, didn’t put his real last name on it so he’s able to take shit if Papp died but Papp can’t get anything if Roque dies.

- (Partitio Chapter 1) Roque trying to take Partitio with him when he was 16 was Roque’s attempt of taking Papp’s son in the divorce

fun facts about octopath traveler 2’s spanish localization:

Mindt’s name is Trinidad which just makes me feel like the game is more latinoamerican coded than what i originally feel like due to the situations and themes explored LOL. Actually a LOT of the names of side characters change in spanish which is pretty shocking to me because the spanish localization of the first game barely changed names at all. Rai Mei is called Lai Mei, King Jigo is named Rey Yi Gou, Roque is named Locke, Pala is named Paula. etc. Also Agnea’s last name in spanish is Bristarniz which still makes me confused when i have to tag her name and i gotta be careful not to put the z at the end

Allure is actually called Seducir (Seduce) both in the first game and in this one which makes the scene where you have to allure Giselle in Agnea’s chapter 3 pretty gay.

You have to seduce her in order for her to see the value of her art again. Which i find a completely insane choice.

Tbh it’s quite Odd that uhh Agnea is canonically 18 and the option in spanish sounds sexual, whereas in the first game this wasn’t much of an issue because Primrose was more of a femme fatale kinda character and she was 24. But ok. There really isn’t much of a translation for Allure that doesn’t sound suggestive in spanish though. Maybe something like Encantar? Atraer sounds weird too.

Partitio and Agnea use a lot of very Castillian Spanish expressions which makes it really hard for me to understand what they mean sometimes help??? Like it makes Sense because they even have their own accent in the english dub and localization. But i’m not spaniard. I have gripes with the fact every single game gets a castillian spanish localization and never a neutral latin american because despite them being the same language there are a lot of different words and it annoys me to see hostia and hala like omg i’m so fed up of this

Also Tanzy’s journay entry is written formally with big boy words which i found awesome because it makes it sound more romantic, if that makes sense? Like some quotes coming out of the golden age of mexican cinema. i love toxic yuri
