Thank you for the ask from the historical F/O meme! I love getting questions for Gilgamesh, cause he's such a different person from Toshinori and our relationship is different.

🎼: What kind of music do you and your F/O listen to? Have you ever danced together? Do either of you sing?

We actually listen to a little bit of everything, including modern music! Although I've also shown him music played by members of the tribe I descend from, and from my German and Norse/Viking background. It's a little harder to recreate music from Gilgamesh's time-- a lot of the instruments he's more familiar with don't work quite how they did back in his day-- but I love listening to him describe the music. I imagine that it would sound almost haunting, now, taken so far out of the context of when it was created, kind of like a lot of older songs from my cultures.

We do dance! I've taught him some of the simple folk dances I know, including good ol' Square Dancing, and he's likewise shown me some of his dances. Those are actually MUCH more similar than some of our music. Hilariously, humans seem to dance with a lot more commonality than they seem to make music. Group dances especially are fairly similar across different cultures. It's comforting, in a way.

I sing! And I'd almost say I'm fairly good at it. Even after my voice dropped when I went on T, I'm still the same little Choir Queer I've been my whole life. I love singing! Gilgamesh a little less so... But honestly I think he's just secretly a bit worried he'll sound strange. He wasn't trained for it like me, and the styles of music we grew up with are very different. Don't get me wrong, Gilgamesh is good at EVERYTHING, but there's something to be said for years of practice.

Okay. SO!

Here's a post detailing how the two of us met and became partners!

Rambling as a viewer, not a character, and I gotta say... I love him so much holy shit.

I first saw him in Fate/Stay Night, then Fate/Zero, and just thought he was SO DARN COOL! A jerk? Yes absolutely. But a VERY COOL ONE WITH AMAZING ARMOR AND SUCH COOL WEAPONS AND HE'S ONE OF MY FAVORITE LEGENDARY HEROES IRL AND KAHSKENDKWNISBWBDBD

Ahem.

But I wasn't quite in love with him, then. There was a crush, but... I didn't really think of him as someone I'd date. I had a hard time seeing myself with him, no matter how awesome he was, because he just... Seemed like the type who would have thrown me away. He had that air about him that said "I take lovers and toss them by the hour, because I'm too cool to stay nailed down and don't actually care about the feelings of a mere mortal". And I'm not about to hurt myself like that. I've been burned before, and I know better. So he was really cool eye-candy with awesome powers and a really interesting story, and I thought it would stay that way.

But then I saw Fate GO: Absolute Demonic Front Babylonia.

My goodness golly heccin gosh. Holy hecc. What a goddamn bombshell. What an explosive punch in the feelings. What a literal fucking KING. Talk about a shift in tone from his previous appearances. The cockiness and lordly attitude were still there in force... But this time were also completely justified. He was powerful, and wise, and cared about his people in ways that I've rarely seen in a mainstream story. The speech he gave to his people as they prepared to leave Uruk had me in tears. About how even if some of them died, humans would live on. How all children are the inheritors of the world and the future of humanity. How they were all so precious to him and that he believed that they would continue on throughout history. I honestly would have followed him anywhere, if he'd spoken to me like that... But instead, he follows me. At least, in our canon together.

Gilgamesh moved and inspired me, and I fell in love. Not at first sight... But gradually, as I began to understand him more and more. I could see how much he loved his people, but also how lonely he was, and how his asshole-ish-ness in the future would have justifiably developed. I fell in love with the guy who was willing to give up all of himself for those who relied on him... And I wanted to safeguard that person, and those feelings, so that they wouldn't be outshone by lonely conceit or jaded by the passage of time.

I'm a bit of a loser like that... But I hope he doesn't mind.

Gilgamesh: Short answer? Maybe.

Gilgamesh: A longer and more definitive answer would be that it depends entirely on the situation, and on the mood and atmosphere, but that there are situations and moods where Rian would easily excell in the role of a leader. He has all the qualities of someone who can make a good lynchpin for a group. He's able to tell what people are good at, and what they enjoy doing, and use those things to the advantage of everyone involved. He's also very loyal, and protective of people he finds to be on his side. He's a hard worker. He's social and enjoys being around others and helping to mediate. He's a very giving soul who believes in sacrificing for the greater good of those around him. All of these are qualities you'd find in a good leader...

Gilgamesh: However, my treasure has a heart of gold, and is thus very soft. He's also a bit of a "yes man", and will agree to things for the sake of keeping people happy. Those are things a real leader must avoid at any cost. A king must make difficult choices, and you can't make everyone happy. You must have some give, yes, but giving can't be the only thing you do. You must be firm, and have the strength and courage to be able to tell people 'no', or have them do things they may not want to do.

Gilgamesh: So yes, he can be a good leader, and I can see him easily filling that role someday... But he needs more skill and experience in order to be a great one, and isn't ready for anything with too high of stakes.
