Cartoons that are meant to be enjoyed primarily by kids but can be watched by everyone expect nothing from their audience. That is, they want to teach them things, such as good moral lessons and things like that.

Adult cartoons expect their audience to ALREADY KNOW THINGS. Such as having a good grasp on their own moral principles, so when you see a character in an adult cartoon do something REALLY UNETHICAL but it's not outwardly condemned, the show is trusting its audience to already know that's bad. The laugh factor comes from that response in your brain that's just "Jesus Christ what a fuck head!" Or "That is SO messed up"

If you don't have a firm grasp on your own morals and principles, if you primarily watch tv shows where they expect nothing of their audience, and then you watch an ep of R&M and turn around and say "this show is saying grooming is good!" The only one who looks like a fool is you, because it's evident that you don't watch adult cartoons very often, and the later at night they are, the less they're going to make their messages easy to digest. They're usually late at night so kids have gone to bed and adults can watch.

But I remember the wars on here fought over Steven Universe, and that show was DEFINITELY not trying to expect too much out of its audience, but we got into this whole "depiction = glorification" situation, and I think we're still feeling its effects.

We just gotta use our noggins more that's all. And yes, I know a lot of middle school students watch R&M but just because they do that doesn't mean it's the target audience. THAT'S WHY WE HAVE THE VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED MESSAGES!!

sometimes your friendship with someone comes to a point where they’ve stopped communicating and things have deteriorated, they’re actively unpleasant to be around and very hostile/hurtful in their communication.

a few years ago i might have pursued this, asked what was wrong, asked how a fix might be made, but honestly at this point in my life if someone stops being a good friend, i’m out. just because they’re going through it does not mean you are obligated to stay to the end. it is not your responsibility to fix other people. there is a line between being a supportive friend and allowing yourself to be a doormat, a punching bag, a straw man, or a victim
