I feel like literally everyone forgets that Beyond Birthday convinced three sets of grieving family members to hire him alone to solve the murders he committed. Including the mother of a 13-year-old girl.
Do you think she would hire a failboy freak like Rue Ryuzaki portrayed himself to Naomi Misora to solve the murder of her baby? Out of all the reputable, well-known private detectives in the world, she agreed to hire someone with no real credentials. This was arguably the most tragic event in this woman's life. There is no way she just took a chance on Rue despite himself. He must have assured her of his competence and legitimacy somehow.
Beyond refers to himself as an 'extreme freak' compared to L, which suggests he possesses the self-awareness to adjust his behavior according to his goals. It's pretty clear as far as I'm concerned that Rue Ryuzaki is meant to be a caricature of L - his defining traits are flanderized versions of L's. He serves a distinct purpose, allowing Beyond to get close to Misora (and therefore L) so that he can manipulate the outcome of the investigation. He serves his purpose best if he comes off relatively harmless and not as capable as Misora herself.
I think that when Misora tells L that her impression of Rue is that he should've killed himself already, (damn girl that's pretty fucked up tbh) Beyond didn't get his feelings hurt at all. I think that's exactly what he wanted, right down to her relaying this to L.
I think it does Beyond Birthday's character a disservice to assume he's a one trick pony and that Rue's cringe loser persona and B's unhinged ramblings about L as he's planning his own suicide when he's alone demonstrate the extent of his range.
Getting hired to solve the cases of his own murder victims demands impression management. This man is undoubtedly capable of a certain degree of charisma if he chooses to use it. I think he becomes much more interesting when you consider that pretending to be someone else is one of his defining character traits and it's actually not clear where the act begins or ends in the novel.

12TH SYNASTRY CULTURE 🛸 {PART 2}
Tumblr media
12TH in synastry, is making love mentally. It's stimulating the darkest places in the partner's mind. You don't need to be near each other to know that something has happened.
It's mystical, it's like you're exploring the dark and cold universe alone. It's like you have a mental and spiritual connection, you bring out the best in the person in the house.
Tumblr media
There might also be a bit of disillusionment there. Especially if Neptune and Venus fall there. You give the person of the house the role of muse. You write songs, poems and poetry about her. You put her in the lead role, which ends up putting the expectations very high on her. That never ends well.
You two are like a psychedelic dream, it's an explosion of colors and feelings. It's a very strong connection that can end up leading to hatred. So be aware of the signs, give space and time for the two of you.
Tumblr media
If you two recently broke up, you're probably having trouble getting over the person. She appears in your dreams as a ghost. I've been there.
It's karmic, the two of you probably met in a past life. That doesn't mean you're soul mates destined to be together. Most likely you came into this life to resolve issues from the past, and let go. There's better things coming your way, believe me.

Did B Meet L?
I can only speak for the English translation of Death Note: Another Note: The LABB Murder Cases, but here is what L actually had to say about knowing B.
Tumblr media
L does not explicitly state that he never met B. Instead, he says that he does not 'know' B and is simply aware of him, which could be interpreted to mean any number of things. You can meet someone and interact with them and still reasonably claim that you do not 'know them', in the sense that you do not know them well.
In this scene, L insists to Misora that his relationship with B (or lack thereof) will not affect the case; I don't see why he wouldn't be absolutely clear about never having met B if this is the point he's trying to make. Especially if L feels that B's actions reflect on him, which Mello considers here:
Tumblr media
Mello also speculates that B may have committed The LABB Murder Cases in an attempt to meet L. However, he admits several times over the course of the novel that his interpretations of B's motives are just that, speculation. This guess is made further unlikely by B's intention to die at the conclusion of the case and the fact that he expected L to send a pawn in his place. Mello assumes they never met, but he has no way of knowing.
Tumblr media
Beyond Birthday's disguise, Rue Ryuzaki, is an accurate enough imitation of L for Misora to think of him immediately when she meets L in person at the end of the book. How B learned about L's appearance and mannerisms in the first place, however, is not clear.
Tumblr media
So what's the conclusion? Well, it's vague. I do think the book implies that L and B never met, but unless the Japanese translation is markedly different, you can still argue that they may have met without contradicting the text.
A very short uncomplicated analysis, but I do think it's worth talking about!

Museum of Appalachia
Norris, TN
As a kid I loved the animals and the stories of moonshiners, but going back as an adult, what made me cry was seeing a quilt that wouldn’t be out of place at my house and a fiddle that had those same iridescent bits as mine. I told my friend we’d need like two hours, and then we spent two hours in the hall of fame alone.
